1601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A fake app in apple app stole his life savings in bitcoin on: April 03, 2021, 09:00:00 AM
Thats was a very unfortunate incident imagine that was his life savings and then in seconds it disappears. IMO, it was partly an Appstore fault because it was considered negligence on their side and why they let that fake app listed in their Appstore in the first place, this incident was also happening on Google Playstore thats why for precautionary measures check any app thoroughly for both Appstore and Playstore before using it just to make sure it was safe.
It is more than unfortunate because it is a life savings and I don't think that I would be able to live with the fact that my life saving is going to get stolen from me, I mean that amount of money that you saved for a long time is frustrating and devastating. The problem with checking apps on the Appstore is that it is difficult because the quality check before publishing it in the appstore is the first line of defense and if that were to be defeated then users will have a hard time.
1602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC was a lifetime chance and I don't think we will see a similar opportunity on: April 03, 2021, 07:50:33 AM
I recalled an encouraging thread here before that says that the best time to invest Bitcoin was back in 2009-2013, now the second best time to invest Bitcoin is right now. Smiley
I hope that encourages you to still find opportunities by tomorrow or in the next day to invest one Smiley .
If bitcoin continues to grow, I think that the idea of anytime is the right time to invest is going to apply to it, my reason for saying that is either you wait for it to go down which is unlikely to happen right now considering there is a lot of positive happening in the bitcoin scene and if you wait for long and the prices gone up, you will end up getting less bitcoin for the money that you were planning to invest or you can buy now and hodl it and wait for it to grow.
1603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Risks of instituations holding bitcoin on: April 03, 2021, 06:27:13 AM
I don't think institutions holding Bitcoin are anything to worry about. Because pump and dump has often happened to Bitcoin, so if there is
an institution that sells all the Bitcoin it owns. Then there will be new institutions that buy Bitcoin, after all, there is not only one institutions
holding Bitcoin. And I believe all institutions that hold Bitcoin may not sell Bitcoin at the same time, so I am not worried about the many institutions
holding Bitcoin.
You may not worry now but when there is more institutional money coming in to buy bitcoin and hodling then and there you are going to see that it is a bad thing for the individual investors, pump and dump is not going to be an effective strategy anymore because most people knows that whenever there is a dump, they can just hold it out and wait for the price to bounce back or buy more bitcoin at lower price and hodl. The problem with more institution hodling their bitcoin while accumulating more is that they can contribute to the rise of the price which can gatekeep some individual investor.
1604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Flipkart accepting Bitcoin payments?April fools day tweet 😄 on: April 03, 2021, 05:38:46 AM
Flipcart is one of the biggest & useable marketing online platform. Many thinks they are making people fool by announcing bitcoin.but look at the bright side, they are already taking online payments. May be in years, they will take bitcoin as a payment. Its all about time, who can say what will happen in future
There are some businesses that are teasing this kind of integration, they just timed it in a silly event so as to test if the people were going to green lit this kind of thing or if they really want it to happen. I think that Flipkart is definitely going to integrate bitcoin in their pay system but @Shawn20 is right, we don't know who can say what happens next.
1605  Economy / Speculation / Re: How fast do you think will Bitcoin reach $100k? on: April 03, 2021, 04:39:19 AM
I would be conservative and estimate that it will reach 100k at around 3 to 4 months, the reason for that is that there is some resistance points that takes months to break like the 20k resistance and the 40k resistance and now the 60k resistance, I wouldn't want it to reach that price in those months though as I plan to buy some bitcoin and I want to get more value out of the money that I am putting in.
1606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was paper money rejected by religions as much as Bitcoin? on: April 03, 2021, 03:52:57 AM
The problem is that the doctrines in religions is they are not matching with the technology, especially Islam which is really strict with their doctrines to the point that it should follow the teaching bit by bit. I mean if bitcoin doesn't really have anything difference from fiat then I think that the rejection will repealed.
1607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao offered $10 million to fight Terence Crawford on: April 03, 2021, 03:15:11 AM
Sure there will be a demand from Pacquiao in terms of monetary and share that he wants to get if ever there will be a fight other than this match against Crawford. The $10M offer for Terrence, it's still in negotiations and having said that this match might happen soon, we can only hope that there really is a negotiation that happens on the side of both boxers. But with Pacquiao, he's always on the go whoever his promoter picks his opponent.
If Pacquiao doesn't have any plans to retire yet, I think that he should go with this fight because there will be more fight that is going to happen in the future with a lot of new generation fighters aspiring to fight him and I think that he still has the spark in it, not to mention that the money that Pacquiao is going to receive is definitely going to be big.
1608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could we crowdfund a movie about Satoshi Nakamoto? on: April 02, 2021, 09:50:47 AM
Nah, sorry OP. Not gonna happen.
I rather binge-watch a lot of Bitcoin-related documentaries than documentary about someone that we didn't even know.
Don't even get me started about those fake-toshis here in the forum.
I would do the same and those words are coming from me who isn't a fond of watching any documentary. I mean what is the point of making a movie about Satoshi? We don't know the person behind the legendary name and knowing Hollywood, they are probably going to butcher his story because .
1609  Economy / Speculation / Re: JPMorgan sets Bitcoin Target to $130K Predicting Strong Institutional adop. on: April 02, 2021, 09:09:48 AM
Isn't JPMorgan's CEO Jamie Dimon hates bitcoin a lot, be careful with their stance people because this is an institution that is owned by hypocrites that says bitcoin is good but at the same time bitcoin is bad. They want to look good to the public because they are creating a bitcoin ETF that is unfavorable to the people that are going to invest in it because you don't own the bitcoin that is in the ETF and there are a lot of flaws and downsides in this ETF, Andre Jikh covered this thing and whether you don't agree with him or not, you have to be careful with JPMorgan.
1610  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betcrypt.io - Decentralized Crypto Sports Betting & Casino (NO KYC) ⚽️♠️🎰 on: April 02, 2021, 07:46:06 AM
What happens when someone wins a lot of money say 500 USD or more and they want to withdraw it, will you require KYC or lock out their account for "cheating"? A lot of gambling sites that doesn't have KYC are doing this kind of thing for awhile now and there has been a lot of unresolved problems that is in the same situation as this one.

This could actually work @lightlord I mean I really like this disco UI and I hope that this will transcend to more than just an April Fool's shenanigan into becoming a feature that users can choose.

LOL happy April fool to everyone, sorry it was belated. I totally didn't even get it at all until I saw the forum nfts and then on BV the disco UI;) Nobody ever pranks me properly where I am, not such a thing over here in my place everyone is so serious Wink

1613  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin Smash Socialism in Venezuela? on: April 02, 2021, 05:45:21 AM
The problem with the socialism in Venezuela is that they don't really focused on the well-being of the community but the well-being of the individuals which is evident because a lot of people during their high times were prosperous but they didn't invest in social aspect like health, education and other institutions that will help them when the down times happen and then the down times happened and the economy crashed, I don't think that bitcoin is enough to smash socialism because of how large the scale that bitcoin has to fill in.
1614  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin wasn’t created to make you rich. It was created to make you free on: April 02, 2021, 05:11:00 AM
Time flies and with that perspective changes, people are slowly leaning towards investing in bitcoin. This is a good thing that people are flocking towards bitcoin because they want the freedom to control their money combined with the pandemic that crippled the finances of many people.
Well it makes people handle their wealth in a manner that keeps the freedom and the purpose change for each one of us. People find its freedom when they have their money that isn't controlled by the government and no one can take it from them but most of all the price keeps growing which makes a holder richer.
I think it is far deeper than just being free from the control of the government because in my opinion it is still superficial, I might be seeing things that you don't see and I might be wrong and that freedom was the final truth but who knows. Not to mention that not just handling their wealth better but it can also help them accumulate more.
1615  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigeria’s vice president, Yemi Osinbajo speech at economic summit on Friday on: April 02, 2021, 04:27:25 AM
So he should be someone who understand the economic value of decentralized cryptocurrencies and its benefits to such countries like Nigeria, if they can regulate the use the country will make more revenue which can be used for the development of the country and can keep compounding it will make good for the country itself in long term. So its now like central banks vs ruling government in Nigeria?
Not just someone who understands the economic value of decentralized currency but that also indicates that the Vice President is a progressive person and he knows that the only way to move forward is to accept the new technologies that are pouring in, I mean we already have the technology its our stone age emotion that has been stopping us from advancing. I don't think that the Nigerian government going head to head with the central bank is going to be good for the people.
1616  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin wasn’t created to make you rich. It was created to make you free on: April 02, 2021, 03:53:31 AM
This is so true, many of my friends to whom I have talked about Bitcoin, they only see it as either a fraud, or a great investment with good returns, virtually none of the new comers see it as the way it is and the main vision for which it was created, to give control of funds 100% to the hands of users and not allowing government's or any third party to interfere with its control. Nonetheless, as Bitcoin grows, the vision will also be completed, as people will sooner or later understand its true vision Wink
Time flies and with that perspective changes, people are slowly leaning towards investing in bitcoin. This is a good thing that people are flocking towards bitcoin because they want the freedom to control their money combined with the pandemic that crippled the finances of many people.
1617  Economy / Speculation / Re: get a loan and reinvest it on: April 01, 2021, 10:31:15 AM
This is a dangerous thing to do because you will not be able to reap the full benefits of your investment because you have to pay the loan plus the interest and that is if your investment grows really quick because most successful investments takes time and if you consider investing in bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, there is a high chance that you will suffer some losses on the short term which can dishearten someone into selling their investment with losses.
1618  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's 100k bubble may not burst ??? on: April 01, 2021, 09:41:59 AM
After the end of the year or in the coming months, there may be drastic improvements after reaching 100,000, but rest assured that 70% correction does not work. We are talking about a bubble. When the 70% correction happened, Bitcoin reached that price without any support and only by manipulating whales and big people, and then severe corrections began.
But is it the same in 2021? In the new year, we are witnessing an increase in the price of bitcoin due to the influx of large companies and large individuals towards this technology, and this is not a bubble, and this is a real price.
The market will still be the same, the people on the market is going to be the ones that is going to change. You are right that this year it is going to be different because with companies in the game, whales can't simply just drop the prices. If bitcoin is a bubble then it should have already burst a long time ago.
1619  Economy / Economics / Re: Central banks around the world want to get into digital currencies on: April 01, 2021, 08:59:46 AM
With different countries planning on developing their own cryptocurrencies now, what will that look like in the future? I am just thinking about how Government regulate the Fiat currency, Is this the same way they will regulate their various cryptocurrency? will the price of that crypto be this volatile like what we have now which makes investors make huge profits? or will those cryptocurrencies just be more like the stable coins that we currently have now? I guess time will tell how all this will pan out considering that the idea behind crypto was decentralization.
It will be the same thing, I mean digital currencies are just a glorified fiat currency, they are just trying to reduce the printing of their legal tender but their digital currency is going to have the same purchasing power as their physical fiat. The only advantage of digital currency is that they are backed by the government and I think that's about it.
1620  Economy / Economics / Re: Index versus active management "Buy the world" on: April 01, 2021, 08:22:12 AM
Warren Buffett put a 1 million USD bet against active fund managers that in 10 years his investment on Index funds is going to get a bigger ROI than them and 10 years later, he won the million dollar bet and the ROI is close to double that of the actively managed funds. My point is that index funds is going to win in this match against actively managed funds because it was already proven.
