1681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: March 25, 2021, 06:48:52 AM
I think that my bet will be going between The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Judas and the Black Messiah, I really like this kind of movies that are based on real accounts so I don't really care if I lose a bet but I am going to be rooting for this two films. Considering the current social and political climate, I think that those that cater more on political and social issues are going to win those awards.
1682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fine line between market investment and sports gambling on: March 25, 2021, 05:57:54 AM
I do think that there is a fine line between hedging and betting but I think that it is enough to know that they are going to be different from the other, there is no odds in shorting stocks and you have to rely on making connection in order to make the stock you are planning to short to go down unlike in betting where you directly bribe the person involved or the management of the team, you can't do that in stocks because the company doesn't want to go down.
1683  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Does this kind of project exist? Trying to find a bitcoin lottery ticket on: March 25, 2021, 05:15:35 AM
I mean I called it a lottery for a reason... All the programs that I seem to find are linux based. Are you aware of any Windows with a GUI. I know its a super longshot.

As for your feelings regarding the people that make these programs, I completely understand. I wont debate the ethics of this right now.

I will leave you with this thought though, better thieves make better security. If for some reason, a way was found to find private keys faster than we currently think, or some method of "brute" forcing was proven to be more effective than it should be (as technology progress's) then I would hope bitcoin could fork and build a wall against this. (Mainly thinking of quantum computing, but hey, maybe some powerful AI will be developed soon...)
Dude, there is a reason why they are Linux based, Linux is the programmers favorite OS. I do agree with you about making the security more better by trying to breach it or find a way to breach it but I don't think that a lot of people are going to be happy that this kind of white hat operation is happening, I mean the finances of this people are the ones that are getting compromised not yours.
1684  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to find a team for a project? on: March 25, 2021, 04:29:08 AM
When it comes to money, it is best to build a network and create trust in your own environment. If you start looking for online partners or developers, you never know whether you can trust the person and in the worst case, the person will run off with your money or crypto. So watch out and stay safe. Smiley
I agree, having a network helps you connect with the right people and there is already an established trust so you don't have to worry and the payment for them are a bit cheaper than hiring strangers online because you have some sort of connection with them that compels them to help you in any way as long as you do the same. And you also work better as a team.
1685  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Presenting: 3D Modular Eco-Cities - the next big thing on: March 25, 2021, 03:43:12 AM
It would really help if you put some overview of your project or something and not just give us the links because there is a high chance that there isn't a lot of people who are going to click those links and will essentially waste you and their time because you have such a compelling title.
1686  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How do I create and design simple website? on: March 25, 2021, 03:00:06 AM
If there is no deadline then you might as well learn how to create your own website because it can help you in the long run get experience, if you were to delegate the task to other people without a deadline, it is going to be a guarantee that they are going to slack off over creating your website because there is no rush to create the website. Learning how to create one is a task too but it is a worthwhile endeavor because it is a skill. Try going for w3school to learn some of the basics.
1687  Other / Off-topic / Re: Telegram Group spammed with new users on: March 25, 2021, 02:11:18 AM
This does not happen only in your group it even happened on a reputable exchange telegram group but you have to try your best and ban user reported for scamming because ever since the cryptocurrency was acknowledged as an innovative technology to make people financial freedom a lot of scammers have seized the opportunity to target newbie crypto participants or user that have urgent issue to scam them off their fund.
Easy to say to try your best but have you read the OP?, it says there that thousands are coming in and the bot is already doing its best which means that the anti-spam that was in place is not an effective tool. Yes, these spams are used to promote scams but I don't think an average Joe that knows how to think and has a common sense wouldn't really fall for that because it is an obvious scam.
1688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's gonna buy Tesla using Bitcoin? on: March 24, 2021, 10:27:51 AM
I don't think so.
I'll use my BTC to borrow the $.
Borrow twice the amount needed. Half for the Tesla, half to buy some more BTC.

6 months the BTC will double or more.

You just got a Tesla for free!
Don't have to do that because Tesla said that the bitcoin purchase isn't going to be converted into fiat which means that the Tesla cars that are going to be sold in that manner has a fixed bitcoin price but I do agree that waiting for the 100k USD is a bit of an attractive thing to not spend my bitcoin but if I were to have the bitcoin and the opportunity to buy a Tesla car, I think that I will be buying it.
1689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jerome Powell about Bitcoin on: March 24, 2021, 09:45:24 AM
Well most of what Powell said is true about bitcoin, just because he is in the government doesn't mean that we have to attack everything that he or they say because some of them ring true like this one, bitcoin is indeed an speculative asset which we should accept because it is the truth, no point running away from it right? It will be difficult for bitcoin to replace US dollar because of the scale that bitcoin has to fill in.
1690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the central bankers trojan horse out of fiat. on: March 24, 2021, 09:04:31 AM
With the current situation of bitcoin adoption I think that we will be able to buy bitcoin without the need to convert to fiat and the transaction fees can be mitigated if both parties involved in the transaction aren't not in a rush to get the bitcoin.
1691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla now accepts Bitcoin on: March 24, 2021, 08:13:47 AM
Be ready everyone because bitcoin is going to go up again with this Elon's tweet and with some influencers that are going to buy their Tesla with bitcoin, I might be wrong about my speculation but Elon's tweet can really do something with the prices of bitcoin. This will also be a good way for Tesla to accumulate more bitcoin which is going to get the prices of bitcoin to go up again, the problem is that they might sell a lot of bitcoin if a lot of Tesla is going to be bought this way because they still have to pay the car manufacturers and the raw material providers.
1692  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best Hardware Wallet on: March 24, 2021, 06:53:18 AM
Check the wallet reviews from cryptowisser: https://www.cryptowisser.com/wallets

Many people will say Trust and Trezor wallets are best hardware wallets. Wallets can not protect you and you have to protect yourself and capital. Use wallets safely and carefully and always backup important information to recover your wallet in the future.
I did check this wallet review a month ago and I agree with your insight, they all have the checkboxes ticked for what hardware wallet I am looking for and you are right, we have to have a backup no matter how much safe they advertise their product because human factor is always the reason for most lost wallets. I think that this topic should be moved to Web Wallets.
1693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Adoption be possible? on: March 24, 2021, 06:16:50 AM
Bitcoin adoption is happening right now,so your question is pointless.
The problem is that Bitcoin adoption is just too slow, mostly because of how expensive and difficult it is to buy Bitcoins.I hope that this problem will be solved, sooner or later.
Yeah it is a pointless question and I agree that the speed of the adoption is slow, I don't think that it is just the price of bitcoin that is affecting it because people doesn't need to buy 1 bitcoin because they can buy satoshis, I think that the pandemic does some sort of contribution to the slowness of the adoption and maybe the blockchain itself contributes too.
1694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nicole wants to give up her taxi in exchange for bitcoin on: March 24, 2021, 05:37:08 AM
This is a pretty brave step to turn a business that has give income into a risky investment, but it could be that he already considered everything beforehand, and his decision to sell all of his taxis and buy BTC because the income earned from the taxi business began to decline due to this pandemic, she thought to secure residual assets on investments that can provide large returns.
This is a stupid step and it can easily be mistaken for a brave step because the line between bravery and stupidity is a hair's breadth, Nicole could've used the profit for the taxi services to slowly buy bitcoin and to keep the taxi, I mean bitcoin is a volatile asset compared to a taxi service that could guarantee a daily profit, and if the taxi business declines, they can just adapt and do Ubers or Lyft.
1695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin production on: March 24, 2021, 05:02:21 AM
According to a Greenbiz article, there are four ways to counter the high energy consumption of blockchain which includes moving away from Proof-of-Work validation method, use of blockchain to spur energy-efficient transportation methods, building more energy efficient blockchains, and focusing on more sustainable ways to mine bitcoin. I have read some of them and the only one that I agree with is focusing on the sustainable ways to mine bitcoin because I don't know much about the others.
1696  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-03-03 Coindesk - Warren Says Yellen Left No Room for Ambiguity on: March 23, 2021, 10:39:16 AM
Elizabeth Warren and Janet Yellen.. what a great combination. Two of the most incompetent and corrupt politicians in the United States. Obviously for the left-wing nuts none of that matters and they elect Warren again and again from the socialist stronghold of Massachusetts. The walking fossil Janet Yellen is not electable even from left-wing strongholds such as MA, so she has never fought a single election in her entire career.
I don't get how people are getting easily enticed of political candidates just because they have a good election campaign, I mean election campaign is the festival of lies and who the people believes is going to win, people should have been thinking a long time ago about what to do with this kind of politicians that do not have any contributions to the country, a lot of people should have woken up and started thinking for themselves and elect younger and more competent politicians, I mean this fossils aren't going to be of any help because they will not be helping make the future because they aren't going to live in it.
1697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Nigeria Central bank confusing its citizens? on: March 23, 2021, 09:01:45 AM
I think it wasn't really their intention but considering that the days in between the on and off relationship of CBN towards cryptocurrency is short, this might have caused some accidental confusion towards the cryptocurrency users in the country but I might be wrong and that there was a conspiracy that they really did plan to confuse the people in the first place to make them not get into crypto because there is an uncertainty.
1698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meeting about Bitcoin and inviting people to it on: March 23, 2021, 08:29:45 AM
Not sure it would be a good idea to start with talking about price to be honest, at it would easily look like selling a scam to others. Personally, I would start with Bitcoin's important characteristics(non-custodial, censorship resistance, predictable and unchangeable supply schedule, and such).

But hopefully your sort of presentation would at the very least spark an interest from them, ending up with them doing deeper research into it.
That was my first thought too, I was under the impression that OP was convincing them to buy bitcoin, if there are more people that are going to adopt bitcoin then it will be for the better, we need more intellectuals in this space.
1699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 23, 2021, 07:52:26 AM
Although I love to watch football tournaments, I don't like to watch this current world cup because this event is founded in blood of the slaves in Qatar that died during the creation of the stadium that is going to be used in the tournament, I am shocked that there are still slaves in this modern era, I guess Middle East doesn't really surprise me considering that they have the bloodiest conquest in history back in Medieval times.
I am not a fan of working conditions in various GCC nations, but it would be wrong to call the workers as slaves. They went there on their own, without any compulsion. For someone from Nepal or India, earning 5 times their average salary sounds very attractive. And many would happily opt for it, despite the known risk factors. Thousands of workers lost their lives, and tens of thousands suffered life threatening injuries. It is up to FIFA to make sure that these people are properly compensated.
I like to disagree with you because there are articles and news reports about the true condition and I don't think that it is not worth turning a blind eye. I don't think that they know the risk factors because if they knew then there wouldn't be casualties reported because no one will accept the job because there is a risk that they are going to die in the work environment. FIFA won't do shit about this as much as any corporation, they only care about profit.

Also here are some articles.
Qatar: Migrant workers unpaid for months of work on FIFA World Cup stadium
Migrant workers constructing stadiums for FIFA 2022 World Cup not paid for up to seven months
6,500 workers have died in Qatar building infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup
