1481  Economy / Economics / Re: Bernard Madoff dies in prison. A 20 year long Ponzi on: April 17, 2021, 01:17:07 PM
Dude's a legend and a smooth talker that he managed to get off the hook for decades even with authorities, investors, and outside citizens snooping constantly on his affairs. Had he not succumbed to greediness and just worked diligently and honestly at NASDAQ, he would have been a legend in a good way. I mean, the ones he scammed were not small fishes, and to think he could lie in front of them and kept it going is absolutely insane.
I wouldn't really say that he is a legend, remember that this dude swindled billions of dollars and the biggest Ponzi scheme in history so far, I would say infamous to connote that this person is known for something bad. That is the reason why he created the Ponzi scheme, if he didn't do so, he would still be trading and not getting enough money, the reason is that he wants to be at the top and I don't think that he is going to redeem himself even if he were to work honestly, the dude was doing insider trading before the Ponzi.
1482  Economy / Economics / Re: Struggles of being a freelancer in Bangladesh on: April 17, 2021, 12:27:10 PM
Not to mention that people will judge you because you don't have a job per se and a lot of cultures have an ingrained disdain to people who aren't pulling their weight to contribute. Hopefully, you will become successful when it comes to freelancing in your country because I feel like this is the peak of working, you can choose when and where you work.
Just ignore those people and don't let them get into your nerves, just focus achieving your goals by working on your jobs since sooner or later once they seeing you improving they will give a huge respect to you and ask you on how you earn your fortune. I experience that before especially by using bitcoin they just laugh at it and when they know I'm earning and the price of it became more bigger thwy became curious and ask what to do and how to earn.
I am not talking about personal experience but I know the gossip culture of my country and the stigma that for someone to be successful, they have to have a job which is bullshit because you will only be successful if you are not working but you are still earning money. I also like to mention that the people who do this gossip shit are your local drunkard and scum of society.
1483  Economy / Economics / Re: Why not "COVID" vaccine passports on a blockchain ID on: April 17, 2021, 11:42:48 AM
So is a standard RFID, seriously we don't have to put blockchain in somewhere that isn't necessary when there are other things that could do the same work at more efficient levels and more cheaper. If it ain't broke, don't fix it right?
1484  Economy / Economics / Re: Charlie Munger: "Bitcoin is an artificial substitute for Gold" on: April 17, 2021, 07:49:47 AM
It's always compared to gold years ago and the first one was digital gold or new gold in this age. And for those old successful investors, they really won't be able to catch up with the tech stocks because they're living traditionally and don't understand what's in it.
I guess after just a few years from now, with all of those negative statements from these popular and successful investors who have said negatively about bitcoin, they'll change.
Exactly, they are just putting in action what they are saying, don't invest in something that you don't understand, honestly, we don't really need to hear their opinions about bitcoin because it is going to be the same old thing that they are going to say and I don't think that they will change that and if you are following them then you should probably stop investing because you don't think for yourself and you always seek other's validation.
1485  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the government hijack Bitcoin? on: April 17, 2021, 05:49:39 AM
Governments sort of do hijack bitcoin. How do they do it? They can ban it, they can ban ownership, they can ban use of it, they can ban trading of it, they can ban many things, and even if they do not ban it, they could simply just make it very hard to use and have very bad regulations as well, plus governments are just people, they are usually just politicians, they are human like us, and they are usually greedy people.
Banning isn't enough because there are people that are going to use it even if it is illegal and they will always find a way to work things out. Besides banning, I think that bitcoin can only be hijacked if the government is a totalitarian and a surveillance state.
1486  Economy / Economics / Re: I think Bitcoin is the biggest bubble and ponzi in the universe or it isn't? on: April 17, 2021, 05:04:40 AM
Have you seen a ponzi scheme that has last this long and remain sustainable?
Bitcoin is a revolutionary and very useful tech/currency. If you remove the deflationary feature it will still be revolutionary and very useful.
Bernie Madoff did a Ponzi scheme that lasted for decades so I would say that yes, I have seen/heard or learned of a Ponzi scheme that lasted as long as Bitcoin is right now. I wouldn't really say that bitcoin is a Ponzi per se but the early adopters are at the top of the pyramid and I do see some resemblance but I don't think that bitcoin is a Ponzi because it wouldn't grow this big if it isn't unsustainable as @Ucy said.
1487  Economy / Economics / Re: Coinbase reported significant user growth before IPO on: April 17, 2021, 04:24:37 AM
I personally think that it's the rapid publication of coinbase regarding the IPO that attracts many users into their platform or even increase the transaction more frequently though it's undeniable that bitcoin bullrun also contributes to that since most of people I knew who trying to get into crypto but also lacking of knowledge always trying to start out by using coinbase.
But it's indeed true that if coinbase could expands and compete with Binance it will be very good, the crypto market in my opinion too dominated by binance to the point everything that related to binance whether partnership or something else getting overhyped.
That's what I thought so, the advertising of their IPO made people fllock to them and want to get in while the going gets good. Hopefully half of this people are going to be a mainstay in Coinbase because they are going to contribute to the growth of their stock. If Binance were to launch their IPo and go public, I would bet that they are going to topple this pioneer crypto company.
1488  Economy / Economics / Re: Turkish Central Bank Forbids use of cryptocurrencies as a mean of Exchange. on: April 17, 2021, 03:43:12 AM
Very dumb move by the Turkish Central Bank. How do you even sensor Peer-peer payment system? Don't these people think before they act? they want to control everything and slowly make the people poor. This is going to have no negative effect on the crypto world, Turkish economy doesn't define world trade, it's a good trade and investment destination. The real crypto guys will bypass this and I expect some litigation against this Central Bank action.
They want to stimulate the circulation of fiat to fiat so I don't necessarily say that it is a dumb move, but you are right they can't really censor everything unless they become a totalitarian state. If it doesn't define world trade then we shouldn't worry about it, let them sort out their problem, I believe that this is going to be the same as what CBN did so I wouldn't worry that much.

1490  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A little sad story on: April 16, 2021, 10:11:05 AM
The sad thing here is that you didn't trust that the price will go up but in the end, you don't have to worry about it or regret because what's done is done and I don't think that it will be good marinating in sadness and regret.
1491  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do I invest in cryptocurrency or coinbase COIN on: April 16, 2021, 09:29:28 AM
I would suggest that if it is your first time then probably you should invest in bitcon more than stock because if you look at it, bitcoin grows faster than any stock out there so you proabbly can hold it off and buy bitcoin and hodl it first before doing any other things.
1492  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there such thing as a “safe strategy”? on: April 16, 2021, 08:51:26 AM
If not trading is counted then probably it is the safest strategy because sometimes not playing is the safest action, if I were to choose, I would probably hodl my bitcoin instead of risking it in trade where there is an uncertainties and risk involved.
1493  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Experience with Trading Bots on: April 16, 2021, 08:15:31 AM
I had a rather unpleasant experience with trading bots. I invested a certain amount of money in such trading bots a year ago, but both projects turned out to be fake and I just lost money. That is, my trading bots were not even trading bots, they were just a distraction. Since then, I have promised myself that I will no longer use the services of trading bots and the like.
There are free and open source ones that you can tweak to your specifications, I don't get why you paid for one. Bots can be a good help especially if you want to get up and do other things besides trading, if I am trading and if I could get my hands on one, I would probably go for one but given that you have a bad experience, I am sure that it will take more than a stranger on the Internet to convince you to try again.
1494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Early signs of crime with bitcoin. on: April 16, 2021, 07:34:48 AM
for a criminal, anything can be used as a crime. basically, it all depends on who is using it. let alone bitcoin, which is full of controversy, something that is common in society can be used for crime too.

when bitcoin, which is still the pros and cons in society, is used as a criminal tool, it will become big news, and many are increasingly afraid to use it. whereas, as you say, the facts are not that terrible as long as we are willing and able to adapt well.
The people who doesn't think that as bitcoin becomes more popular then the less likely it is going to be used for illicit activities is delusional, as @xiboothrezi says, criminal minds are going to use any means to do the thing that they do.
1495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cars That Can Be Purchased with Bitcoin on: April 16, 2021, 06:56:52 AM
Thats good to know that Bitcoin is already accepted as payment to purchased cars, not just ordinary cars but including those luxury and even supercars, Wow how I wish I am a Bitcoin Millionaire and bought Bentley cars using Bitcoin, by the way, I believe that the Bitcoin acceptance as a payment for the luxury cars and many other products will expand globally in due time.
I think that most cars that accept bitcoin or cryptocurrency as a payment is either the high-end ones or the luxury ones and also it is a pretty expensive than buying a fiat one because some cars are for imports only and that means that it is expensive as hell since shipping fee for a car is astronomically high.
1496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why doesn't bitcoin go up higher percentages like altcoins? on: April 16, 2021, 06:14:51 AM
You are one ungrateful son of a bitch don't you know that? Just look at the price of bitcoin of the past 2 years and say that shit again, if you want to get rich quickly then bitcoin is not the best place for you to invest in because you want to get the big money real fast. And you said that alts double in a day or week then why not invest in it?
1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ex-CIA Director Proved Bitcoin Use in Illicit or Crime to be disprove on: April 16, 2021, 05:25:57 AM
Agreed on the less than 1% if you consider bitcoin transactions from wallets to exchange and then back to wallets. Much of bitcoin’s transactions are motivated by speculation, however, the percentage for underground transactions should be more if you remove those transactions to the exchanges and from them.
There's also the undocumented crimes that slip past the eyes of the law enforcement agencies, they aren't accounted so I disagree with the fact that there is less than 1% and I think that this ex-CIA director is just reporting false numbers because they seem to have a benefit in this thing.
1498  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What's next after Coinbase IPO? on: April 16, 2021, 04:07:47 AM
Of course. As demand in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies goes up as time goes, it's a safe assumption that the Coinbase company will be worth more and more instead. But regardless, I'd rather be buying bitcoin. Tongue

As for other companies going public, probably. Just give them time. Kraken's founder have said that they already have plans on going public but without any other additional information on when, and Exodus[1] is currently having a public offering.

It would be good though that we are goiing to invest early on while the Coinbase price ler share is lower because aa @mk4 has said, the company will grow even more. This kind of companies are going to be on my watchlist of stocks to buy when I completed my account for stock market but be careful because you have to worry about downtimes and Coinbase is not an essential market per se so invest wisely.
1499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocurrency trading on: April 15, 2021, 11:16:33 AM
Firstly, invest only what you are willing to lose. Ask yourself if you are fine with losing your $1000 in the worst case scenario. If you are fine with it, proceed to do a good deal of research related to the cryptocurrencies that you are interested in.

I advise sticking to popular cryptocurrencies like BTC, ETH, LTC etc since they won't just disappear one day out of the blue. Invest smartly!
That is a lot of money in my country so I would be careful when I have that much money. What @Haunebu advices is pretty much enough for a newbie to go on his own because newbies like me and OP don't need a lot at first and having too many at the platter at first is going to be overwhelming.
1500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: /r/Wallstreetbets allowed discussing Bitcoin on: April 15, 2021, 10:39:34 AM
that's just a start, everyone is starting to get on board the bitcoin train which reminds me of the first quarter of 2017 when price rise was starting to warm up. it first starts by the media covering bitcoin a lot, then in social media we keep seeing a lot of people talk about bitcoin. then they all start buying bitcoin slowly as they see it keeps on rising every day. before we know it the price is going to be $250k and the $1 million FOMOculation starts like last time.
It is a good thing that they are getting in the train because bitcoin has been in the market for a decade now and I don't know how bitcoin is going to prove itself to these late boarders, I am just glad that I have a bitcoin hodled because when this happens, I want to get a bigger piece of pie if I can.
