I do not think there will be requirement for Raina but his experience in middle order and in crucial stages does help the team. At the moment if he comes back he will need to sit for sometime now.
Raina is someone who is capable of scoring runs quickly. CSK needs someone like him in the middle order. During the last match, both Rayudu and du Plessis scored the runs for them, but if not for Sam Curran they could have lost the match. Du Plessis in particular was scoring runs very slowly, as he made runs at a strike rate of 132. It is understandable, considering the fact that almost half of the squad is aged around 35 years.
Had Raina, maybe CSK's team would have been more balanced.  But not having Raina is not a big problem.  The current team combination has been much better.  Players like Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Faf Duplessis, and Ms Dhoni can turn the game around at any time.  So I don't think Raina will have much of an impact on the team.

I don't know whether Raina could have made a big difference. The main problem with CSK is that they have a squad where the average age is close to 35. This will definitely have an impact, when they need to step up the momentum. I can understand CSK including players such as Dhoni and Harbhajan in their squad, as they are legendary players. But what is the point in giving so much importance to players such as Kedar Jadhav?

Australian cricket lost a legend today with the passing of Dean Jones. He basically made cricket fun to watch back then as he was an attacking batsman and played like a T20 game. He will be remembered for this and for the tied test match against India. RIP

I was shocked to hear about this when the commentators mentioned it before the start of the KXIP vs RCB match yesterday. The players were wearing black armbands and I was wondering why. Then one of the commentators mentioned that they were doing it out of respect for Deano. He was just 59 years old. Always loved his commentary, and he will be sorely missed by all the cricket fans.

I couldn't believe it when I heard the news, he was a great person for cricket and helped a lot of young players in India where he did coaching for many years and was well respected by a lot of players. He will be missed by the cricket community.

The younger generation remember him as an expert commentator. He played his last test in 1992, and only the older generation remember his playing days. That said he was very active in the commentatory teams and as you mentioned in the coaching department. He coached the Islamabad United in PSL, and they won two championships during his term.

Great moment for the Pakistani Umpire Aleem Dar to make a new world record of most ODI matches officiated by him.

Aleem Dar set to break record for most ODIs as on-field umpire

It is a huge achievement. Umpiring is a tedious profession and all of us appreciate the hard work they put in. Even now, the top tier umpires receive only 1/10th or 1/20th of the salary that an average international player receives. Aleem Dar made his debut in 2000, at the age of 32. It has been a career spanning more than two decades, and he had his ups and downs. I hope he will be in action for at least one more decade.

It was a surprising decision by the PCB, to resume this season's PSL after 8 months. I don't think that it will result in any financial benefit to the PCB, but they may be obliged to complete the schedule due to contract obligations with their TV partners and sponsors. Not much coverage about these matches in the media, BTW. I checked espncricinfo, and they have this news relegated to a small corner of their website.

I am not sure if you checked the correct site because if you open espncricinfo.com, the PSL is covered by cricinfo as all the other big tournaments are covered.

It is good to see that PCB is able to resume the tournament after 8 months and it might be because of media and sponsors obligation but what i always wonder is that why they are not having the same exposure as BCCI when it comes to TV partnerships and sponsors and PSL might make some changes in the future as it might attract sponsors if the competition is good.

I was not talking about the scorecard. There was very little coverage in terms of articles and newsfeed. In the main section, there was no mention about PSL. When I saw the post here regarding the resumption of PSL, I went to cricinfo to confirm it. It took some time to find an article related to this news. Even now, there is no mention about PSL in the "News Headlines" section or the main page.

Cricinfo give the data according to your region and preferences. I don't know from which country do you belong but according to my location, the PK Edition is filled will all PSL news and headlines.

You can see or select your region as below.

@Sithara007 click on the all button on their homepage and then you’ll be able to see PSL updates, also it’s possible that they have curated the newsfeed depending on where you’re from. @UmerIdrees yea it seems that I understood it right, and another way for him to access latest PSL news on cricbuzz would be is to use VPN, and inside VPN select country as Pakistan.

As far as i see, he did not want to see the update of PSL, he only wanted to point out that PSL tournament is not much covered in cricinfo so i told him that this is not the case and  i guided him that its depends upon which region he has selected in cricinfo.  Smiley

Espn-Cricinfo (Indian edition) has scant coverage of PSL. I guess Sithara007 is from India and that is why she is not noticing the updates on PSL. I am also using the Indian edition, and I would also confirm the same. And here in India, none of the Sports channels are covering PSL (DSports had the TV rights, but they were prohibited from showing PSL by the government). Yesterday I watched the Qalandars vs Zalmi match live on YouTube. But the quality was really bad.

You are right about this and also IPL was not shown in any TV channels of Pakistan as well. Although there may be political tensions between the two countries but i think they should show all cricket tournaments which the public wants to see.

Seriously the government prohibit sports to be broadcasted and to be frank it is the lamest thing that could happen Shocked. I understand that both these countries are not playing because of political reasons but to ban telecasting sporting events is a bit too much in my opinion.

Even i watched the PSL highlights and i have seen some wonderful catches and i guess the level of fielding is higher in PSL which i did not expect considering Pakistan team is not the best fielding unit in international matches.

India is a much larger market for cricket, when compared to Pakistan. So obviously if there is any ban, it is going to have a larger impact on the PCB rather than the BCCI. Even for foreign franchise T20 leagues such as BBL and CPL, a large chunk of the audience and the revenues come from the Indian market. Pakistan's population is less than 1/8th of that of India and the revenues are proportionately smaller.

The catches were good but looking at the highlights you will not understand the entire picture, even if you look at the IPL highlights you will see many magnificent saves in the boundary and spectacular catches but if you watch the match you will see many dropped catches as well.

So it is a tit for tat competition  Grin.
It is a political competition and it is sad for sports fans to involve politics into sports and the strange aspect is that there is only restriction for cricket, the rest of the sporting events continue as normal from what i understand.
