Titan RMA demands are mounting on the KNC forum (topic: Titan 300 MH/s Titan Firmware 1.03 and bfgminer version 4.8 still restarting.)

customer RHoHo

Quote
This is simply a BS method.... I'm getting VERY frustrated now, and would like that KnC takes a real action: not fumbling with FW versions but RMA faulty cubes....

customer dexu

You're right RHoHo, same thing with me..

customer pcdinh

I got the same issue

This is a total cLuStErFuCk. Makes a fella thankful that he hasn't received his Titan (Brace for the Impact) yet.

Can anyone comment on whether they received a UPS tracking number once their order was marked as "Shipped" or not?

Some have stated (earlier in this thread) that they received a tracking # when their Titan was shipped. Some before it was shipped Smiley

Sounds like KNC are shoveling this crap out the door without testing, and that their 'round the clock' efforts to fix problems in new firmware releases is a ruse to buy time. Asic problems ?

Titan owners - I have a small request for you. I hear that Titans are having issues with some firmwares, therefore I would just like to ask some of you if you could point one of your Titans to our stratum (stratum.nicehash.com or stratum.westhash.com - https://www.nicehash.com/?p=gstarted#seller) for like 10 or 15 minutes and see if your Titan can actually reach full speed (as reported on Titan and as reported on our website)? We are using some stratum extensions I would like to see if KnC integrated them into their firmware ... thanks!

FYI: since the new firmware uses BFGMiner 4.8.0 you can try setting extranonce.subscribe extension/feature to get better efficiency on NiceHash/WestHash (put "#xnsub" at the end of the pool URI to enable extranonce extension: "stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com/#xnsub") ... nevertheless it might be a hard time for Titans to handle the work provide by our stratums since most of the time work is provided by orders for altcoins mining ... but it might be worth giving a try ... (also try  "--queue 0 --scan-time 1 --expiry 1" options).

Thx, I'll try that.
Any recommendation for 'Longpoll' and 'Retries' ?

Seems to be the case from my point of view, too.
Btw, might there be a correlation between the fact that so many customers report dead dies and the fact that KnCMiner stated that there was a bad chip yield...?  Roll Eyes

The most glaring Titan fault is the way it takes quite a few seconds to flush work, making it unusable for coins with low network rates and short block times. This was advertised as a scrypt coin miner, not just a LTC miner.

One user now reports that turning on load balancing and trying to split the hash to multiple pools is either broken, results in Titan instability and/or results in failure to create shares to some pools entirely.

Well it seems I won't be getting the answers I am looking for at least not right now.

I don't want to pay 3% to mine on Liteguardian. My hashrate is poor on litecoinpool.org with DOGE merge mining. I can't mine other scrypt coins without getting tons of errors and extreme hashrate volatility. So I setup my own litecoin pool.

Kind of sucks to solo mine litecoin

So I invite the Titan owners to my pool. I have setup 2 ports one for DIFF 1500 and one for DIFF 8192. Both run just as stable as Liteguardian and get me 300mhs with my Titan.

It is based on NOMP. I have set a 1.5% fee.

Can anyone comment on whether they received a UPS tracking number once their order was marked as "Shipped" or not?

Order #1990x  Paid March 19th @ 16:43 knc time.  Switched to shipped this morning when I woke.  A few hours later, received a Quantum update email from UPS directly detailing a Monday delivery.

I eager to work on my DIY kit.  :|

Looks like my scrap metal has shipped. Did you guys receive tracking numbers for your KNC hardware?

Nope. #201xx, paid March 21

Nope also. #2101x, paid March 27th

(we be sooooo screwed....waiting for the email saying we fixed it at 100mh as per original contract but shipping delayed till NOV for fixes)

my KNC expectations are quite dark now.....KNC is like that nice girl you moved in with ..then you find out she is 'bi-polar' ...the relationship
was great the 1st half....now you wake up in the middle of the night wondering if you put the kitchen knives away or not....

Man, your "mining"/"Girl" stories are always so funny to read!!  Grin Grin

Yeah it is all a big Yuck Yuck Yuck me getting this Titan

although....as some of you know (won't go into too many details) but I am a LEGAL miner in the USA  (due to bank error showing me making 90k of wire xfer overseas
when it was 10k for the knc unit...they made the mistake ..reported me to SEC for possible fraud (wow ....for a bit i was infamous as a drug king pin) all fixed
with a 5 min phone call AND THE FACT BEING PARANOID I filed a revised Tax Return 10 days before due....so all was well..ie the me being legit argument

anyway....everyone had a big yuck at my misfortune in forums last april/may when I told them what I had to do to salvage my ass...

BUT NOW I MAY BE OK with equip deductions (25% bitcoin machines are considered computer 100% depreciation in 5 years) my Titan (if I can play this out) really costs me around 7600 bucks
assuming my CPA can still get me out of taxes like last year (shoulda paid 4K ..I paid none) and a person could play this out as a biz

so my misfortune is not looking so bad at being a legal miner due to all this BTC drop and KNC going to the dark side.....

I can also sell coins I mined in 2013 at 1100 bucks according to the IRS that I paid taxes on at a loss get a tax break should I choose (paper loss I mined them and was holding)

so have SOME options to get some $$$ back if I need to legal wise

anyway can only do what I can do with the bad circumstances the bank tried to stick me with....maybe this will work out....I am not going to be mining next year
at home at the same scale (maybe a baby miner to show revenue stream for IRS only....to the extent it helps my tax bill ...whatever that may work out too)

but anyway.....those of you who may really really be over bought on a KNC Titan....like you have a Neptune and  a Titan or some such MAY want to talk
to a CPA and with enough equipment you could work maybe 25% of whatever your investment in equipment that you got 'screwed' on like the Titan or BFL
or whomever......desperate measures and all that...but if you are gonna take a loss and even a big loss you may as well see if it works better as a business
loss then just you eating it yourself

so yeah Titan is real amusing......in a train wreck kinda way

if you want a real laugh look at KNC's Facebook page under comments ...it is a frigging blood bath.....obviously they are not monitoring that at all

I can't believe CoinDesk has not done an article on the Titan yet like they did with the FrankenJupiter (they ignore my emails)....

well...so it goes....I'm stuck in my situation but maybe it is bad enough others may wish these options as well

I wonder if you can ROI that $1698.78 with a titan   Cheesy Sad

- You missed the delivery date.
- Your Titan's power consumption is way higher then stated previously.
- Your Titans still can't reach a stable 300Mhs and cubes are getting out of order..
- Your firmware can't fix the unstable cubes.

Why did they start delivering ?
