I'm not getting a refund, but steamboat needs to update those whom are requesting refunds immediately. Also if 10,000+ chips cannot be met for a full batch of chips, I think people should consider reselling their assembled miners with chips at a discount.

There are some people who have no assembly commitment here - effectively steamboat is just a group buy organizer for them - getting their feedback should have been fast and drama free like the other group buys. These account for close to half of all chips ordered through steamboat.

The terms of THIS deal have been breached, meaning we're entitled to a refund, and Steamboat's silence on the matter is nothing but cowardice. Put me on the list in support of legal action against Bitsyncom; Yifu G (individually and in his capacity as an officer of BitSynCom); and if we don't get a very clear resolution very shortly from Steamboat, against Steamboat, (individually and in his capacity as an officer of Liquid Synergy Designs, Inc). Playtime is over. It's time for results.

I'll give you .55 BTC for the whole lot. Otherwise, you need to get on board for a refund.

Send me a PM with your email address, I'm gathering people who are fed up with steamboat's lazy approach that causes us nothing but damage. Also add the chips + batch + paid BTC amount.

Why would anyone send you their information? You can't do anything. Also your tone doesn't exactly lend you creditability. The only option is to wait for an update from steamboat. Getting mad isn't going to solve anything.

1.36 is indeed less than 1.5. Hence the term almost.
Almost indicates it's nearly there, as in, insufficient, not yet there. So that term would be wrong. 1.5 would indeed be in excess, more, sufficient to cover (1.36) etc etc and so would the opposite of almost. ;-)

Because when we have a group together who can communicate quickly amongst each other, it's way easier to pursue actions against steamboat if it has to come down to that. Lone buyers may not want to take on the entire task for a few hundred/thousand USD, but when you tally it all together, there's hundreds of thousands of USD in this groupbuy. Together we stand strong.

So that term would be wrong. 1.5 would indeed be in excess, more, sufficient to cover (1.36) etc etc and so would the opposite of almost. ;-) It depends on what you mean by there in the term "not yet there". The price is so low, it's almost just the cost of chips. It's not quite "just" the cost of chips, but "almost" the cost of chips alone. It's appropriate in the sense that I'm trying to convey that he is "almost" giving away assembly. So it would not be the wrong term in the context I'm using it.

This thread has been an interesting read.
I'm in Batch 4 and a month late and counting. With difficulty spiraling upward out of control, all hope for ROI is lost-- but I knew that was a possibility going in. I bought several video cards just a couple months before ASICs annihilated GPU mining-- but at least I was able to mine LTC to eventually scrape up enough BTC to break even, less what I spent on this group buy.
Knowing the history of Avalon (mining with customer units before shipping them, etc) I was prepared for this eventuality, and I'm glad I only went in for 16 chips and full assembly. Total setback like $300-- which is a chunk of change, for sure-- but even if I finally do get a working miner, and difficulty is over 100M and it takes me 2 years to ROI-- I don't care.
For me it's about the hobby and the promise of what BTC *could* be.
I know a lot of people are in way deeper than I am, and I really do sympathize. Some undoubtedly saw huge dollar signs and invested heavily in vaporware. Investing in what they wanted to be real instead of what actually was real.
Much like "real" currency, only those with resources and power will have all the resources and power, and we little guys can't even begin to piss at the same trough as the big boys when it comes to hashing power. It's a nuclear arms race, and we all lost the second we didn't have an Avalon cluster back when difficulty was sub-10M.
I'm not going to speculate and toss out numbers I think people should get for refunds-- I just wanted to comment here and state that even though I'm pretty disappointed in how this all went down, I've come this far, and the money is already spent. I'll just wait for my chips and miner to come in. If nothing else, it will be an interesting coffee table piece.

Why wouldn't they? What's he going to do with information that's already public? We all already know the address payments were sent to, it's not hard to see the transactions. Building a list of people who are prepared to take things to the next level simply enables taking things to the next level. Somebody's gonna have to organize it, and it's damn sure not gonna be Steamboat... All of this can be cleared up quite easily. Steamboat just needs to quit cowering in the corner, man up, and resolve this thing. The sooner he does that, the sooner he can wash his hands of it. Although I'm more and more interested in taking action against Bitsyncom/Yifu, by the minute I; for one, would prefer not to see this thing escalate to the point of having to haul Steamboat's ass into court. The ball is ENTIRELY in Steamboat's court (no pun intended) on whether that happens or not. It will take exceedingly little effort on Steamboat's part to log the fuck in here, and let us know what's going on. Much more effort, I imagine, fighting lawsuits which could include other damages including punitive, which could add up to much much more than the total that's already been invested in this group buy. If Steamboat is smart, he'll get his ass in gear and not let it come to that. I'd sure hate to see the guy lose things like his house over some cowardice regarding a group buy gone wrong (due to circumstances that were mostly beyond his control). If we do decide to take legal action, we will need to do so quickly, so that we can get injunctions on Steamboat's funds (including bitcoin) before he funnels it all off and files bankruptcy (which, not to be the Chicken Little here, but there's the possibility that this is already what's going on behind the scenes, while Steamboat hides away from all of us).

A couple of things: I'm completely stunned that Steamboat hasn't posted yet. I can only assume at this point he is working on a solution so awesome it will have us all thanking him in relief. I certainly hope he posts soon, and with this long a delay, it had better be good. As for sharing information with people that have requested it - I personally wouldn't do it. I'm sure the people collecting refund requests mean well, but it's just poor practice in general. Thanks though As for those people making extreme low-ball offers in the thread. You DO have some balls. I suggest you stop throwing out crap offers while you still have them. I'm really ready for this mess to be over. I'm tired and disappointed and sick to death of this thread! They have many words for situations like this, and I'm tempted to use them all. Unfortunately, none of them are suitable for this forum.

I still have hope that Steamboat will do what's right for the community and his reputation. Heard from one groupbuyer who wants the case to be filed with the Florida Attorney General for fraud and prosecution, so apparently the person believes things are getting to Yifu levels. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail. Apparently, it's not unprecedented that once things have been sorted out, asset seizure is not beyond their reach, even bitcoins as seen in a recent case. As for the freezing injuction, believe it used to be called the mareva injunction and it's quite commonplace to attach business inventory of the defendant for a civil suit, but it is unknown what would be seized if the Florida AG is involved.

Oh, I see so if my chips/transaction ID are on some list that you generated means I want a refund? Steamboat is the only one who can verify who wants refunds. Not a third party. I can send you 50 different e-mails from 50 different gmail accounts asking for every single chip to be refunded. You going to add those to your list?
