The guy with low mh/s that is quiting was talking about finding a block on the pool.
Are there any bonus reward for the one that finds a block ?

no there aren't.

Actually ... there sort of is ... It has to do with the scoring system on Slush's pool - the shares that are closer to the end get a higher score, and THE LAST SHARE gets the highest score. Since you'll have that last share - your total reward for that block will likely be well above your average. So - that's sort of your bonus for the block Smiley

Are you sure about this? That doesn't make sense to me. even though past work is discounted, it would seem to me that the one doing the most work would have the highest score.

You're talking about two different things. The shares submitted in the last second are worth more than all other shares, but the block finder's total reward for the round should still be roughly proportional to his hash rate.

It's not a big difference by the way. At exp(t / 300), the last share will get only 0.3% more than the shares from one second before.

The last share is guaranteed to have the highest score, so if you are a low hashrate miner and you found a block you will definitely get more than usual ... not much but still more than you usually get.
Those doing most of the work may/will not notice such an increase, but a low rate miner will.

Are you sure about this? That doesn't make sense to me. even though past work is discounted, it would seem to me that the one doing the most work would have the highest score.

I wasn't talking about comparing different miners - in this case you're right - whoever does the most work gets the highest TOTAL score.
In my case I was talking about a given miner's individual shares - each of his shares gets a score, and his total score (sum of all shares' score) represents his % share from the total reward.
Each individual share gets a score, and each share's score is higher (exponentially) when they get closer and closer to the end of the round. And that very last share gets the highest score.
So in terms of that - if you have that very last share (e.g. you found the block) that last share would have the highest score (for an individual share). So when you sum up the scores for all of your shares your result would likely be (a total score) noticeably above your average - or in other words that's your sort of a bonus.

Hopefully I explained it a bit better this time Smiley

EDIT:  as others pointed out while I was typing - this will be most evident for slow miners (e.g. those submitting shares at least a few seconds apart). For high-GH/s miners it will likely not make much of a difference.

Nope. Transaction fees are considered part of the total reward for the block, and as such are shared with everyone (proportionally to their score).

I found block 239418 last week and didn't get anything more that any other time.

exactly the increase isn't noticeable. so it is pretty much nonexistant.

The one thing that did suprise me was when i clicked on the link for the block that I found it did not show a map of where I live, it showed some where in Russia? I thought the map showed where the person is located that found the block?

no, we determined a few pages back that the map shows where the first verification was done.

hi   there
can someone explain me how to use the "suggested difficulty" feature ?

bigger is the SD , bigger is the pps reward value ? that's right ?

what's the best SD for a 2-4 gh/s worker ? , in other pools like btc50, 8 is recommended  , and on slush pool "2"  is guessed as best value

right now all my workers are set to 1? so i'm wondering if i could increase my income if i set the right SD value

thanx

Hi there!
I noticed there is a new column on stats page - Your NMC reward. Is it possible to merged mine NMC  on Block erupter blades with stratum proxy? I started namecoind.exe but nothing seems to happens.

If you increase difficulty your income will not change - variance in your income per block will increase while total will remain the same, but you will use less bandwidth for your connection and also will put less burden on the server.

For 50BTC the time of your share submission is not so important, so 8 is OK there and they will put less load on their server, so will you on your internet connection.

For Slush it is a bit more important when is your share submitted, that's why he suggests much lower difficulty, so with 4GH you will have a share each second at diff 1 and each 2-3 sec with diff 2.

Try using 5 - you should have a share each 5-10 sec which i think is good compromise between bandwidth and not missing on short blocks, but if you are not happy with the variance of per block income, then reduce the diff to 4 or 3 ... i think 2 is too low for 4GH, but if you are closer to 2GH than try that too.

NMC is being phased out, and isn't currently mined on stratum. Once getwork's gone, NMC will also go.
