Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

One has to wonder, just last week, while we had some 12 hour runs, things were chugging pretty good.

I do not know what to do. At lease 9 Th. Yesterday, money down the toilet. And now, or wait for a block and throw money on, or spit and go somewhere and something to recapture. Angry

I think having half of your hash pointed to another pool would be a safe bet for now, until things level back out. This is a unusual run of really bad luck. Cry

Mining between slush, eligius, BTC Guild, and GHash.io

Why is it when I switch back to slush they have a block round that last over 24 hours, but when I switch away they find 11 blocks in 24 hours? Huh Huh Huh

Anybody else ever notice that?

I think I discovered a new law of nature called "Miner's Revenge" or "Murphy's Law for Bitcoin Mining"

Hot time, summer in the city, back of my mine getting hot & gritty!!!

That's why pool hopping doesn't work. The best practice is to have your hash rate split(75/25) between two pools of your choice and leave them there. That is called variance and will help on days like this. You have to look at the long run. You will loose a lot of coin trying to hop around because of luck. If pool hopping worked we would all be doing it.

The S3's have a feature called load balance which will allow you to mine on all 3 of your entries equally at the same time. I haven't tried it but on the S3 thread I noticed some had.

Sounds like a great feature. Right now I have 8 S1s and normally have 4 on Slush and 4 someplace else and comparing showed I would have been better with all on Slush. So much for trying to use past events to predict the future. Should have known better but what the heck!

Most mining software is built on top of cgminer which has that option built in. Some builds are easier to access that option since its built into a miners webui, some you have to ssh to access.

I did not try to tweak it too much, but I did try Load Balancing with one of my S3 units and got a lot of discarded shares, seems buggy.
