Just woke up, when did the pool hoppers start leaving? That's going to hurt us today because even if they come back later, it will take the 12-18 hours to fully work back into the pool once they log back in. You would think with all the years of info on this form they would understand hopping doesn't work. These pools are score based(slush) and pplns(most other) and they are set up, designed and programmed to make a pool hopper loose both when they leave a pool and when they log into the other pool or back into this one. It's built in to make you loose if you do this. I hear the same people constantly crying about ROI and difficulty. Fact is I make very good profits from home mining, you just have to reasearch. If pool hopping worked, we would all be doing it, but I like to make good profits, so I don't hop. It's all about varience and time. Sorry for the rant, need some COFFEE.

Update: Got the coffee, it's been a great couple of days at Slushs Pool. You have to love 316% luck!!!!!!

I found out about bitcoin a month ago, it is now 1 week since I started mining, I was one of the miners hopping after seeing slush luck going up to the moon, I already knew my S3s are not going to ever ROI since I started mining (bought batch6 - late, got BTCs while they were high priced), this is just an experiment for me and love doing this and learning while at it. might even buy "next big thing" hardware and by then Ill know most DOs and DONTs.
It is hard for newbies like me to resist to try something like hopping.
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Hi Robyone,

Everyone tries it at first, it's all a big experiment and is actually really fun in the end. The last two days were so exciting, I have a thrill seeker personality(high highs/low lows) so when we nail blocks down like that it so extreme. Slush has the only pool that can give you that kind of ride. I was high on slush last night!!!!!

Come on Slush Poolers we need to hit that 6.3 PH sweet spot that seemed to be so lucky.

Hello Everyone!  I'm a newbie here, I've been mining for about a week and a half, and I've got to say it's been a BLAST!   Wish I'd found this sooner!   Slush Pool it my first and only pool so far!   Yesterday was great, today not so.  But I guess that's the rollercoaster we're all on.

Anyway, looking forward to learning and having fun!

Because we found very few blocks? I think it's called variance.

Whats up everyone?

Im new to the pool and have just decided to get into mining for a hobby and see where it goes. I have a hunch that Bitcoin is going to see new limits in future!

I have 4 Antminer U2+ units, a rasberry b+ unit on its way as we speak. I know its nothing compared to you guys running S3's and higher, but every little bit helps, Right? I bought a couple coins when it hit about $413 USD last week and the slight upswing over the past few days pretty much paid for this small package of hardware I have on the way already. Ive been following Bitcoin for a few years, reading about and following the market avidly.

I know how the pool system works and im sure I can find answers to any questions i come up with in the 890+ pages, might take a month to get through it but its already taught me a lot.

Sold the PS4 ( I had not used the damn thing since last December) and put the money towards this hobby. Im already addicted and dont even have my gear yet. I can already see myself blowing money on new gear in the future even if I dont get an ROI. Worth it in my opinion.

Welcome to the cool kids club!  Cool Cool
I enjoy mining as well...just as much, if not more than when I first discovered BTC mining

It happens. Just hang on to your hats and enjoy the ride!

Hi Guy's I joined the pool a little over a week ago, starting with my GPU and bought my first Antminer U2 yesterday.. i get that my measly 2.2gh/sec is nothing on your setup's but looking at my esitmated 0.00000849 BTC per block, if i was to purchase say 9 more U2's would my estimated rise 9 fold? This is purely hobby fascination project lol... I'm only snapping up U2's which people are selling as no more interest in there hobby anymore to reduce outlay... as i find this mining hobby quite a good thing to follow and take part in....
Now i have also found a community as well Cheesy

antminer u1/u2 are still returning (uk) about 2.17 /1  over electricity cost.
If you can get them very cheap, then there is some life still in them.

expect the return over electricity to drop by about 30% per month

so that is 2.17/1 for August
              1.52/1 for September
              1.06/1 for October
              0.74/1 for November

BTc donations welcome:-  13c2KuzWCaWFTXF171Zn1HrKhMYARPKv97

Sometimes I worry about the environmental impact caused by mining.

Every time a disruptive mining technology enters the market, the mining equipment the rest of us holds gradually becomes useless and ends up in landfill a couple of years later.  There's probably already tens of thousands of PCBs in landfill from us already.  x86 or ARM-based motherboards can be re-purposed some of the time, but these ASIC boards cannot.

If you are doing this to have fun, congrats. If you are doing this because you think you are making any BTC amount you can do anything with, sorry. U2 are a total waste of time..unless you enjoy microscopic amount of Bitcoin. you will never make back your investment unless you pay nothing for electricity and you got them for free. But, 9 times nothing is still nothing.
