What is your power limit? And out of curiosity why set one for yourself in the first place? no real power limit other then cash per day never looked at it in terms of kw more in money. i guess i should say what i mean : i don't use over a dollar mount by the power company smart meter graphics etc once i reach a dollar amount for that day or month i stop using my farm and by hash so far it seems to work out for me. as for a power limit in the house no idea i haven't tired to push it yet. i have gone as high as 1860 watts over 30 days had no problem then the bill started going up but there was also a bad wire out my side my house it took them 3 hours to find and replace so no idea and buy power limit if you mean how much I can use safely i honestly don't know but with my power company i can use as much i can pay for which i don't want to do. Sorry I'm learning some terms and just what they mean here to others . I just lost some hash i bought yea i was about at 3 th or so with out my farm and just lost 1 th so temped to turn my farm back on and make up the diff. ... hope that's the right answer . to me power limit means how much you can use in your house before you have to install more boxes to handle more etc etc. , which I have not tried to fine out yet. but it seems here on the forums it mean some thing diff . i hate asking question of that nature i usually fine out over time .i should have worded it diff my bad. i hate spending money for power imo it should be cheaper but that's off topic so i won't go there . . Not quite sure what is meant about "Power Limit." So, I'm going to take a poke at it to see if I can help. My house has 200 AMPS. How do I know this? The meter on the outside of my house is a 200 AMP meter and the Main Breaker panel in the house has a 200 AMP main breaker with cut on/off switch. Each AMP [AC] can push 120 watts of power. So, a 200 AMP Main Breaker Panel can push 120 x 200 = 24,000 watts. By the way, the unit of measurement for Power is watts. 24,000 watts is my "Power Limit" for my house. However, I have other appliances in the house that REQUIRE power to maintain a comfortable living. I looked up my HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) unit to find that it requires 30 AMPS to start and then settles down to 20 AMPS after approximately 5 to 10 seconds. I also have lights in the house [all with LED bulbs], clothes drier, washing machine, refrigerator, microwave, modem, router, switch, stereo receiver and 2 televisions. All of these other appliances require approximately 60 AMPS of constant power if they were all on at the same time. 80 AMPS is what is required to run my house for the most part. Some of you might say it is 90 AMPS because of the 30 amps instead of 20 amps needed to start up my AC unit. However, I have a heavy duty capacitor installed [approximately 10 feet between the unit and the main panel] to store electricity to reduce the surge on my other appliances. That leaves 120 AMPS left over for mining. 120 AMPS x 120 WATTS per AMP = 14,400 WATTS of power allowed for mining. If I had 16 S3's [which I do] at 355 watts each, I'm already using 5,680 watts of my allowed 14,400 watts. This leaves 8,720 watts for S4's. That means I can get six (6) S4's and be fine with my "power limit." So, when someone asked you, "What is your power limit?" I think that is what they were referring to. I could be wrong about this but thought I would give it a shot. Someone also said, "Why limit yourself?" The reasoning behind that question is because you can always convert your Bitcoin to USD to pay for your power used and still have USD left over [at least at present price of BTC and difficulty]. You may only want to convert what bitcoin is needed just to pay off your power bill and leave the rest of your bitcoin alone to wait to purchase more rigs when bitcoin is worth more USD. I believe bitcoin will be worth much more before too much longer. Not sure if you live in an apartment, single family home, etc...? You need to go to your power meter that the power company reads to determine how many amps it is. It may not actually say how many amps. You may have to write down the model number of the meter and look it up on the web. Then you need to find your main breaker panel and find out how many amp main breaker panel switch you have. I can answer any other questions you may have after you have found out the answers to those two things. I hope this may have clarified some things for you. EDIT: ...i honestly don't know but with my power company i can use as much i can pay for which i don't want to do.
I suppose we could use "how much we can pay for" but it actually has limits. If you have a 200 AMP meter on the side of your house [Like I do], you are presently limited to 200 AMPS or 24,000 WATTS of power minus wattage needed to run HVAC, washer, drier, etc. You might can get another meter installed on the side of your house to gain more watts. However, this will come at a cost you may not be willing to pay. This may include the power company burying [As in my case] another cable from the transformer to the side of my house and install another 200 AMP meter. I'm not sure if they will charge me for the cable and to bury that cable or not. More than likely they will charge me. As far as your statement, "...for which I don't want to do;" my question would also be, Why Not? You can always convert the BTC that is needed to pay your power costs into USD on Coinbase. That is why someone asked earlier, "Why not?" I understood what he asked just wasn't to sure how to answer with good reason. i did word what i meant wrong after you explain it and ty for that . I know most of what you explained but one or two things how to judge how much your house can handle and how to figure it thanks again for that i will use that . I guess I mean i hate paying the power company and would rather pay some one else who will put it to better use imo. but i do limit what i spend each month on stuff sense i don't work being retried and buying hash now from coins then in two day i turn my farm back on . maybe that explains what i meant . but I am gonna use your tips and find out just how much i can handle. I have a house with air etc ... all the stuff your does. .. and your right why not if i think about it why not, just pay the bill , i can add more of my own hash that way and am planning to any way just waiting more to see what they come up with. hardware with more hash, less power use there coming we see that . Nice explain btw . ty and cya

I've done more research on this company. They have great technology in solar. However, they did not manage their debts. They are about to go bankrupt... unfortunately. So, it makes me wonder how future service on these would be... not too well.

Don't think he was whining, he was just asking you to stick to forum rules https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=548999.0 While some of your project posts are informative this isn't the place for them. I think CK has had to request that twice as a moderator just in the last few weeks.

Did everyone receive a payout for this block? I seem to be missing the payout to my wallet and have put in a ticket with Slush. Just wanted to see if there were any others who had an issue. Payouts for the round before and after it were received successfully.

Why would you want so many tiny payouts? You are going to end up paying higher fees when you go to spend it. I get payouts once per week or twice per month, And usually don't pay any fees when spending it.

Personally, I don't like to use the pool as a bank. I set the payout at .01 and take my small payouts as the blocks come in. I'm not planning on spending at this point i'm just hodling! I usually don't pay close attention to the payouts but I noticed this time since the block was so short.

I believe it's easier to keep up with it like you said AND helps to avoid being robbed of too much coin IF someone was to hack into accounts. True..I'm just trying to find out if the error was on Slush's end or on Coinbase's side (my wallet).

Hi m8, I wasn't aware of this. Do these higher fees on spending result from extra verification or something like that?

The fee is due based on the transaction size, so if you need to transfer 5 BTC from small payouts 0.01 each you need to include 500 inputs in that transaction, which will very likely take more space = bigger fee
Also if you get a payout of 1 BTC, you can spend it (without fee) immediately on the next day, but if your payout is 0.1 BTC you will need to include a fee if you want to spend it before 10 days and for 0.01 it goes to 100 days
