So, it has been 9 days since HashFast last updated us telling us "We’ve Started Shipping!". It would be nice for an official update of some sort... such as, have you shipped more than the first 2 units... and when the hell will the rest of them ship? You are starting to become worse than BFL with your shitty customer service.

I remember BFL doing the exact same thing. Announce they started shipping and them going quiet for a couple of weeks.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I spoke with netsolus.com customer service, they said that they are not going to host for BFL, and that, as the customer care rep said, BFL might be hosting its own miners.

Maybe because they found a more desirable company to host for.

"Bryan, where do you want us to put these 500 thingies?"

"Put ours over there. The ones HashFast refunded over there. And the ones they plan on shipping out over there, away from as much dust as possible."

Looks like Bryan is forgotten how to spell his name: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:tHGIw-AEAh8J:www.enomcentral.com/whois/hipaalink-org.html+&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Pretty important piece of information if anybody is planning on hosting their BJ (where have I seen that before?) or Sierra at Netsolus.

For Sale: 1 BJ; Slightly used; Low mileage.

FAQ: What do you mean by low mileage?

The first week, the equipment was with Joe Morgan. He at least tried to replace some boards, but the replacements also overheated. Then he went silent for two weeks before I found out that my hosting provider had changed to Netsolus, and that my equipment had been with them all along. Still very confused by this...

Going over the same thing is getting old.

As for the PCB, I'm not sure why they seem to be having so many issues, KnC and "others" have demonstrated that the PCB is the easiest part of the ASICs.  I've even read that documentation they released on how their system would work and even though I'm no engineer in ICs it was pretty clear when it came to describing the functionality.  Also it seems that there is enough information for others to start on a design of their own PCB if HF ends up selling just chips.

Hi Timmah

Sam from KnC always tells me that the asic is the easy bit.. and the pcbs are hard!

Sam says 'power in, heat out' are the hardest things to deal with...

That may be true to a certain point, the PCB has to be designed to run the chip and ensure that it produces the best and most Gh/w.  I can see how that can be difficult but that is for the PCB designers to work with perhaps some engineers to design the best solution to dissipate the heat from the chip as well as all the other components.

It's obvious that KnC made their 28nm chips with a different design than the other 28nm chips as they had to use 4 boards to get the 400+ Gh speeds which is also another clue as they did not use water cooling or anything like that so that would mean 4 boards with chips may not need water cooling but is right on the edge of adequate cooling for the chips with those huge heat sinks and fans.

Many people opened their cases, installed more fans, etc.

What I meant was that I would think you would need quite a bit more school/skills to develop a good and working IC than designing the PCB for the chips themselves.

I'm not saying they are not smart and all but I would wager that the IC designers get paid more. Wink

BFL started shipping day one orders while my pre-order made within two weeks of pre-orders starting wasn't shipped for three months after they first started shipping.  You telling me they wasn't mining with my ASIC before shipping it just like HF probably are.

With hindsight both BFL and HF tried to keep everything as secret as possible.  While KNC was public from the start about the engineering company they was working with.  I now think that is a good indicator before choosing a pre-order company.

Can someone please send me an original copy of their Batch 1 order confirmation in word format ASAP? (August, 2013 version). Feel free to remove sensitive information.

I'd like to compare them.

Who designed BFL and HF ASIC's?  While KNC announced ORSoC IC engineering was building their chips.  Plus ORSoC IC engineering news announcements confirmed this.  A reputable company who had brought ASIC's from conception to market before.  BFL kept everything secrete while HF only announced who was fabricating their chips IIRC.  I didn't follow HF closely and was waiting for them to ship before putting any coin down but I don't remember any engineering partnerships being announced.  Just manufactures and assembly partnerships being announced.  What I mean is KNC already had an IC designing and manufacturing company to push the boat along with companies to manufacture and assemble their ASIC's.  From conception to delivery while KNC handled the bitcoin community and economy side of things.  Although maybe I missed the engineering company partnership by HF.  If they did maybe you should be going after that companies blood too for failure to provide working chips by early October or was that under the NDA?

As much as I would like to beat up on HashFast for their predatory pricing of batch 1, their engineering partner was listed on the first post of this thread.  Uniquify.

So you put your money down on some guy called Simon off the internet instead of ORSoC IC engineering.  Who have a track record of bringing ASIC's from conception to market.  I'm not having a go because I made the same mistake too and got bummed (excuse the language) off BFL 65nm ASIC's.  The only reason BFL got FPGA's to market because a single programer can program them.  Then the program is emulated.  Even I've studied Verilog and VHDL and could do what BFL and HF did.

Try to read the link I've posted instead of shilling pro KNC (and their almost unknown partners).

No one is questioning that they did their job. The problem I have with HF is not related with the engineering thing.

So why aren't your legal team going for them breaching the contract.  Surely they publicly announced the chips to be finished in Q3 2013.  I'm not trying to take any venom off HF.  Plus like I said I didn't research them thoroughly and was waiting for them to ship before putting any coin down.

I've not called you a shill, I've said that you were shilling, or inaccurately voting for someone with no objective reasoning.

Do we really want to discuss who is better between the partners that knc and HF used? I dont think this to be the time nor the place.
