Hi maybe you could help me: i ha on my account on kraken 1 BTC, price of BTC was 674 euros, yesterday night i create an advanced order : take profit : 696 euros, stop loss : 645 euros (no limit)
But today i see that the market reached 696 euros during the night and still the order is untouched... why?
Your take profit sell order will trigger once market price is greater than or equal to 696 euros. But market price for sell orders is the highest bid: https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/203053216-Terminology-Used-for-Order-Type-DescriptionsSome orders filled as high as 696.27 euros as you noticed from the charts, but this doesn't mean that the highest bid went to 696 or higher, because those trades must have been from people hitting the lowest ask prices, which would have been higher than the highest bid. |

Ok, solved with support.
Question... What will Kraken do to prevent such ddos attacks in future? Bitstamp for example solved that perfectly with Amazon.
We've already done some things that should help and plan to do a lot more. We are considering a switch to a different provider of DDoS protection. This is something the developers are working on and I don't have too many details at this point, so I can't say too much about it. But we understand that clients are concerned to know that we are taking appropriate measures, so we'll make a more detailed statement about it soon. Is it soon yet? |

That is the whole point of API trading. Even Crytpowat.ch is faster to update prices that Kraken. I dont understand it, but I accept it. Kraken is not the exception here, it's a technical thing. 1 or 2 second lag? I can live with that, sure no problem. I'm not a bot scalper. Having my margin called because for more than one hour I could NOT close them myself, while API trader are all happy - Not acceptable at all 35 Bitcoin Kraken! 35 BITCOINS |

API is the same affected like the website itself. Good trading via API is not posible since several hours. But every now and then you are able to load the website and also get a positive response from API. That's why the charts are updated and some trades were made. Kraken is not down. But 95% of all calls don't reach them. But 5% does. So the only advantage of API at the moment is, that you can send 100 calls to be 5 times succesfull. Or you can try loading the page 100 times... but that won't lower the load of Kraken  But yes, with API you had good chances to close a position... And I think you are right, Kraken has to stop trading while such heavy load. edit: @ GhostPlayer:Can you explain me how a margin call happend? I thought a leverage of 5 means, that the price has to move ~20% in the wrong direction, before a margin call can happen. Even if you opened a long position at 690€/BTC, the dump to 624€/BTC was only ~ 10%. Or is my understanding of leverage wrong? |
