@ Dargo:
you are talking about a gateway.
Does it mean Kraken will be a real Ripple Gateway soon? So we can trade KrakenEUR with BitstampUSD for instance?

When I talk about our XRP gateway, I'm just referring to our gateway for processing XRP payments, not an "IOU" gateway for transferring other currencies or assets through the Ripple network. It gets confusing, and I should be more careful talking about it, because when people ask us, "Are you going to become a ripple gateway?" they are asking if we are going to become a payment gateway for non-XRP assets (and thus start issuing/accepting IOUs in the given asset).

We have an XRP-only payment gateway for sending and receiving XRP transfers. We do not have a "ripple gateway" in the broader sense that allows transfers of non-XRP assets. This is planned for the future, but not yet available. Same goes for stellar/STR.

Here is an announcement for everyone with active XRP deposit addresses:

We have upgraded to a new gateway for XRP payments. The new gateway uses a new wallet system and should make XRP deposits and withdrawals much more reliable in the future.

Before making your next deposit, please log into your account and go to Funding -> Deposit -> Ripple. Generate a new address for making deposits. You will be given a deposit address and a destination tag. Be sure to include the destination tag in your payment (most wallets will require you to input the destination tag since we have a flag set to require it).

Here is some good documentation on sending payments with the destination tag in the official ripple client: https://ripple.com/knowledge_center/sending-currency/

You will notice that your old deposit addresses without destination tags are set to expire in 4 days. Funds sent to this addresses won't get lost but will have a long delay before they are credited to your account.

Withdrawals are also available through the new gateway. If you still have a pending deposit or withdrawal made on the old system, please contact the support agent assisting you for an update. If you haven’t created a support request about the case, please do so.

We are very sorry for the difficulties with XRP payments that some of you have experienced in recent weeks. We understand that the situation has not been acceptable and we are working hard to get everything running smoothly.

My Austrian bank just threaten me, that I can no more deposit into Kraken, otherwise they will close my account.

Sehr geehrter Herr XXXX!

I will not argue with them of course (even when it is nonsense, their TOS have nothing about bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. I am just curious where this might lead. Plus: what should I do. Probably open an account at Fidor.

This is just tip of the iceberg, I suspect. I moved like 50K, so they spotted something they have to ask about.

Another successful withdrawal over SEPA. I withdrew yesterday at 20.30PM and today was money already on my bank account.  So altogether it takes about 18 hours. Approvals from happy costumer.

Hi Atdhe,

Thanks for sharing this message with us. Could you create a support ticket and tell us what your bank's name and BIC are and what your IBAN is ? If we have the information, we will talk to our bank Fidor and suggest that Fidor contacts your Austrian bank.  Thanks in advance!

Thanks!

Hi,
that would be awesome. I have just asked you via ticket 10 mins ago if you can pass the lower fees to my girlfriend, through which I would be forced to deposit. I will add IBAN, SWIFT and email to my personal banker. Let they definitely ask them.

I also already asked Fidor if they can open me a personal account. I do not mind to stop in Munchen when I will be back in Europe. This is fucking annoying that I can not do with my money what I want.

Now I am really pissed off. Nothing persuades me more to buy even more Bitcoins than this bullshit. Money is defined as money, that it can be used as money. If I can not spend my EUR as I wish, it is no more money. (Not to mention that banker of my corporate account sent me today email that the bank imposes from now negative interest rate -0.2% on balances over 500,000 Eur, so I can spend now Christmas on forex.)

I have been using your service for almost a year now and so far only once had delayed BTC deposit.
If you check my post history (and also on my local forums) you can see that I am always recommending your service over other exchanges.

Especially I like that I don't need to provide my full identification.

Now the Raiffeisen bank Austria really got me.

Not they only banned me to send money to and from Kraken.

They also sent me a list of questions:
Quote
Welcher beruflichen Tätigkeit gehen sie nach?

Wie hoch ist ihr monatliches Einkommen daraus? (Nachweis?)

Woher stammen die 4 Gutschriften von der Online Bank Skrill.com mit insgesamt 40,000 Eur (Ersparnisse aus dem monatlichen Einkommen?)

In other words:
What is my proffesion?
How much I am making monthly and proof!!!
Where is the 40K Eur I withdrew via Skrill to my bank account from and sent to Kraken.

But I kind of expected this. My friend had eshop with perfumes and one day he returned money to some customers who returned goods. It turned out that the customer was somehow connected to terrorists. From that day on my friend has hell from his life. He was visited by police many times, probably his emails were intercepted etc... All this because of the stupid AUSTRIAN RAIFFEISENBANK, that confuses servng clients with serving prisoners in Konzentrationslager Mauthausen.

Sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately there are some banks that seem to treat any involvement with Bitcoin as suspicious activity requiring investigation. Make a support request if there is any information we can provide that will help you in dealing with the bank.

No - you can't import a private deposit address if that's what you are asking.

No - we aren't taking over Mt.Gox. We are only assisting the Mt.Gox trustee in certain ways. See the link below for a blog post explaining some of the details.

Hi Dargo. Just a short question. I already maintain an account in Kraken and I'm eligible for a refund for some (4 something) BTCs I had into MtGox by the time it went black. Do I need to correlate those two accounts in some way, in order (in the rare case we get some or all of our btcs back) to be withdrawn there?

Thanks.

You are already helping me. I did not want to complain against Kraken. Just pointing out that during recent hystery even buying bitcoins is considered moneylaundering.

You offer great service.

There are some details of the claim process that haven't been settled yet. But if your claim is paid in bitcoins, then most likely you will need a Kraken account (either create one or use an existing one) to receive the approved claim amount. The two accounts will need to be matched up in some way, but the exact procedure for doing this hasn't been announced yet. The announcement will come from the trustee and I'm not sure when it might be made.
