Ok so i decided to write something really quick as a submission for this commercial on lets lets talk bitcoin.

this is a super super super rough draft.

Quote
Got a minute for whats next? Written from the ground up with brand new source code in an entirely different programming language, nxt is the first truly second generation crypto. It's 100% proof of stake security model melds short term deterministic predictability with longer term uncertainty to open the floodgates and release a torrent of potential breakthrough innovations to the cryptospace. Foremost among these, the ability to predict future forging nodes allows those nodes to build trust within the community. This trust can be leveraged for things like instantly secure transactions if the merchant accepting the nxt trusts the next several nodes in line. Or visa level transaction load volume via nodes clearing transactions before recording them into the blockchain. Nxt's 100% proof of stake security model eliminates many of the costs associated with blockchain security that are, with bitcoin, presently born by the savers in the form of inflation. Finally unlike bitcoin and its limited time block subsidy, there is no arbitrary date far off in the future where nxt's security model will be put to the final test, if nxt works now, it will work always. Tune in next week where we address some of the legitimate criticisms as well as some of the myths associated with nxt.

what do you guys think. do you like the direction? i know its a little over the limit but thats good because the first step in revision is trimming the fat.
I think the number one goal should be to get them curious enough to go to the website/wiki. Tantalize them and then give them the resources to delve deeper.

I 100% agree with this. my thought is that a claim + an argument that flies past them is better than a claim with no argument what so ever. I really think that we have to rethink marketing when trying to talk to this community. they are much much much smarter than the marginal citizen.

Ok, then I suggest starting with the required strong intro with catch phrase and the necessary ending with website link, and then see how much you can fit in between them, paying attention to the tough time limit restrictions. mindtomatter suggested something like 65-75 words in total, and we are already dealing with much more than that.

Funding request

We have paid for 1 minute sponsor spot at the Let's talk Bitcoin for 3 months.

It cost 290k NXT for 3 months

We've paid the current equivalent of $20,000+ for these spots?

Wow.

So...how many of these spots will run in three months?  And what is the estimated number of listeners per spot?

For this kind of cash outlay, we need a list of deadline dates for when the next new spot is due, and who is responsible for providing it.  You know, centralized management.   Grin

So, just curious...How many of these spots will run in three months?  And what is the estimated number of listeners per spot?

Hi everyone.

How about these for a couple of proofs of concept?  Two one-minute spots I recorded this evening:

General Nxt intro: https://soundcloud.com/whatsupnxt/nxtminute-0001
Nxt minute: https://soundcloud.com/whatsupnxt/nxtminute_0002

I welcome feedback.

Here's my take on the one minute spot, using joefox's example as inspiration, and trying to take into consideration all the feedback that was given:

Nxt LTB Spot, Episode 1: https://soundcloud.com/bithic/nxtltbspot-ep1

Anymore feedback on this? Please give feedback on the content as well as my reading. Criticisms welcome, my ego is not wrapped up in this. I'm not trying to compete to be the voice, just putting forward an idea. This should be considered a rough draft.

I really thought your take on it was great and I think the waver in your voice was a) fine as is and b) will go away with very little experience.   You should make some of these.

I think its two episodes per week, with a listener base of 10000.

This feels wordy to me, lots of jargon words I (the average listener) don't know in rapid succession.   I would suggest skipping the technicals and talk about what it does and why thats something the listener should care about.

Then what do you mean by NXT code?

Code:
public class Nxt
  extends HttpServlet
{...

oh come on help me out here.... im using jd-gui as you suggested.  I fed it the start.jar and I see lots of items under org.eclipse.jetty.start but nothing like Nxt.  Now ive never used a decompiler before and Ive only had Java1 & 2 in college so Im not a SW dev. I even did a search in jd-gui for Nxt and nothing showed up

I just really disagree that LTB listeners should be treated like late night infomercial denizens by being bombarded with "catch phrases" and the like.

1 minute of time on three months of shows, two shows a week so 24 total NXT Minutes.

In the last six weeks the 14 episodes released have been listened to or downloaded about 150,000 times, and on Feb 1 we start broadcasting on terrestrial radio twice a week in southern california which will add another 5k or so listeners who are brand new to cryptocurrency.

Ready for whats next? Written from the ground up with brand new source code in an entirely different programming language, nxt is the first truely second generation crypto. By melding short term deterministic predictibility with longer term uncertanty, nxt's 100% proof of stake security model opens the flood gates for a torrent of breakthrough innovations. The ability to predict future forging nodes allows those nodes to build trust within the community. When ever a merchant trusts future forging nodes, this trust can be leveraged for instantly secure transactions or for processing visa level transaction volumes via clearing performed by the nodes before recording transactions in the blockchain. Nxt's 100% proof of stake security model eliminates many of the costs associated with blockchain security that are, with bitcoin, presently born by the savers in the form of inflation. Finally, unlike bitcoin and its limited time block subsidy, there is no arbitrarily selected date far off in the future where nxt's security model will be put to the final test, if nxt works now, it will work always.

needs a conclusion if anyone would like to help with that.

I just really disagree that LTB listeners should be treated like late night infomercial denizens by being bombarded with "catch phrases" and the like.

Ok, maybe a catch phrase is a bit much, but there needs to be a short definition each week for the benefit of those who are hearing about Nxt for the first time. It needs to be short so it doesn't take up too much room in the spot.

1) stake majority in which 1nxt=1vote is 50%+ to approve an issue.
2) account majority in which 1acct=1vote is 60%+ to veto the about approval.

Oh! Fresh idea! Good.

I have multiple voting methods coded for community testing (per utopianfuture's proposal) I just need a way to send and receive API calls in PHP. The below example returns NULL... Suggestions?

Code:
<?php

function get_web_page$url )
    {
...

$ch curl_init($url);
...
    }

$result get_web_page('http://node6.mynxt.info:7874/nxt?requestType=getBalance&account=10006970057300228034');

var_dump($result);

?>

Maybe try:
function get_web_page($url)
{
    return file_get_contents($url);
}

Code:
<?php
$jsonurl
"http://node6.mynxt.info:7874/nxt?requestType=getBalance&account=10006970057300228034";
$result file_get_contents($jsonurl);
var_dump(json_decode($result));
?>
