I just wanted to ask you guys, if it is really safe to invest in NXT.
I mean, the Address is just 64bits long: What would prevent anyone (with a whole bunch of GPUs) to steal my account?
I would prefer NEX to be honest...

New version online: http://nxtra.org/nxt-client with the automated password generator.

I seriously want to see what all those people that have been bitching about Nxt not having a user-friendly client will say after using this KICKASS client!!!    Grin

By the way...  hate to be doing this...  but how about repeating the message below even when people want to choose the passphrase themselves...

Attention: Don't ever disclose your secret phrase. If you lose it you lose access to your account!

I think i(like marcus's client) it should also implement local signing of transactions. Then people with too few Nxt (and no chance of forging) don't even have to download NRS. they can connect to any public  node and use it.

There is already Javascript implementation of curve25519

https://github.com/Jaguar0625/JavaScriptNrs

Next version of NRS server is going to have prepareTransaction api which returns raw bytes, then I will implement local signing of transactions.

Much easier than implementing it manually, because then you also have to check for errors on client side, which I don't think is very good. So I will wait a bit to implement this Smiley

Once that is done, you should submit it as Chrome app in Chrome's App store

@anon136: "ordo ab chao" definitely not correct latin. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordo_Ad_Chao.

Chaos is plural form, chao is single.

address != public key

but you do have to make a transaction before your account will have more than 64 bits of entropy so make sure that you send atleast 1 nxt to some address before you put large amounts on there.

ok, can somebody PLEASE recap 1-2 months, what was released and agreed on, what was implemented in the nxt software/core?

please forgive me, it is hard to keep up with this megathread and i cant see an actual overview

thank u so much
I suggest that the 'normal' 'average' Nxt users (such as myself) use http://www.nextcoin.org more or http://forums.nxtcrypto.org. The core developers feel much at home here and can talk about the deep difficult shit.  Grin

Chaos is plural form, chao is single.

anyone have any idea about the capitalization. i realized that i just did it that way without actually putting any thought into the capitalization of the motto.

Once you send a transaction from that account, your public key (that is 256-bit) is linked to that 64-bit account number. So it's no longer just 64-bit once an outgoing transaction is made.

Is the Testnet down?

I am using Wesley's client in Firefox in Windoze.

I see the funds I have and I have created an asset that shows up on the dashboard.

But when I click on the asset exchange and it says "Please select an asset on the left sidebar" nothing appears. The Asset exchange title still appears to be loading (going ... ... ... ... etc) but no change. I see the asset I issued in "My assets" too.

Any help?

Thanks

Seems to be something wrong with that testnet server, I will switch to another one soon. It's a slow server too at the moment.

@Wesley Possible bug?

I believe the problem was I was using your excellent Client in private mode.

I tried to see the assets in *cough* internet explorer *cough* *cough* and it worked fine. I then switched to normal mode in firefox and it worked fine. Switched back into private mode and the assets didn't appear again so the problem is with the private mode of firefox (if there is a problem).

Also just for your consideration: perhaps add something about the advantages of using a high security password in conjunction with a low security password. What we may call a sloppy password. One that you can leave laying around unencrypted on your desktop, hard drives and cloud storage. Sloppy passwords protect you from rainbow tables while at the same time not requiring you to memorize anything additional.

Thanks, will check that out. I use a web database to cache the assets (since they are unchangeable (description, etc)) - possibly that is the cause.
