There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

@anon136: "ordo ab chao" definitely not correct latin. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordo_Ad_Chao.

im confused.. i see
Quote
"Ordo ad chao" is incorrect Latin (correct: "ordo ad chaos")[5] for "order to chaos" – a reversal of the Latin expression "ordo ab chao" ("order from chaos")

actually it is simple, just not confuse ad/ab Cheesy

ad + akkusativ = ad Chaos
ab + ablativ = ab Chao

I tried to see the assets in *cough* internet explorer *cough* *cough* and it worked fine.

Haha, reminded me how IE9 cured a paralyzed boy:

On that presentation the boy stood and went out after he saw that it's about IE.

It's always possible to encrypt and backup the wallet.dat later. I don't think those security measure should happen at the first launch, because it's not very user friendly.
There is always the possibility to add a warning for that  at the 5 or 10th launch of the client.

And in case you didn't notice the first time :
Wesley i'm ready to donate another 40k NXT to you if you implement the wallet.dat feature, with a high priority
What if I'm using my account on different computers? Nxt has an advantage it's usable on more than one computer/mobile device. An important advantage to Bitcoin IMO.

How do you check the balance of another person in my client? You can only see that after you sent a message or something? Edit: oh, the send coin dialog .. hmm will check.

Chaos is plural form, chao is single.

anyone have any idea about the capitalization. i realized that i just did it that way without actually putting any thought into the capitalization of the motto.

Did they have one at all?

Remove the last 2 zero :

{
    "balance": 1749700,
    "effectiveBalance": 0,
    "unconfirmedBalance": 1749700
}

The balance is  17497.00 TestNxt  for this account 16248676195570366253  .

Hey wesleyh...  when user opts to choose his/her own passphrase...  I see this as an error message...

Secret phrase must exist of at least 12 words.

What if the user was going for the 35 character long type of passphrase?

Not being picky...  just making sure you know about it.    Wink

If you type a space character it assumes you are going to type a secret phrase. Not sure what other way around I can do. Edit : i see now, my mistake. Fixed. try again.

What is the difference?

Just imagine average Joe with not education in cryptography at all will ask you that. How do you explain that to him?

And you have over 1 million. Does anyone actually need testnxt? I was going to spread 15,000 around as I got two donations.

It is telling me you now have over 2.5 million... Roll Eyes

Not sure what is going on. I have tried in private and not in private and can't get a consistent result. Then tried to look at the same accounts through a new account ('passphrase' with a one at the end) and can't get a consistent balance.

I'll give it a minute and try again (maybe turn it off and turn it back on again). Could it be some of my firefox plugins? Ghostery, no script (i am running all the scripts that were blocked: nxtra.org, mynextcoin.org, convert-unix-time.org).

The difference between what? A secret phrase consists of multiple words, a password is typically one long word.
