I also have no problems paying fees if they are reasonable - anything above 0.5% for a very large pool is unreasonable in my opinion as the costs associated with running such a pool are much smaller than the revenue generated even at 0.5%.
But that's just me Smiley

Again, this really isn't the place for your anti free market rhetoric.

Create a thread just for this and I would happily post in to debate this subject with you in a civilized manner, as would many others.  To try and keep debating this in a pools support thread is improper.

I was under the impression that this thread is not support only, but general discussion of the pool and its services. At least I see nothing mentioned in the title, nor in the 1st post for it being support only thread.
Maybe the admin can clarify that.

The fact is people who mine with their own equipment pay 0 fees. Whatever I mine with my share of the pool I withdraw at 100%.
That is what matters to me and I assume a lot of other people.

Btw how does Slush provide 0% fees. Who is subsidizing that?

I know that is all that matters to you.  Which is why it is improper for you to try and browbeat a pool op in lowering or getting rid of his fee's.  He knows what his costs, R&D, and reinvestment costs.  We, especially you, do not.

Slush is not a free pool.  The last I heard anyway.

All pool threads are for support.  But many have been derailed and have caused pool ops to stop using them at all.  Which is what we BTC Guild users would hate to have happen.

I doubt the pool operator will change anything only because I like it to happen  Grin
But why should he stop people from expressing their views?

I meant Eligius pool (I sometimes mix these 2).

This pool is changing drastically and constantly.  Major updates, which are very costly and have risk, are under way right now.  This pool is very responsive to customers needs and wishes.

This, in my opinion, is not the right place to express pool fee views since it isn't just this pool your irritated with.  Your earnings theology could and should be discussed in a separate thread.

Agreed. I check this pool regularly for updates about the pool. This constant agitation about pool fees is getting to be very much an annoyance.

Cyper, I'd like to politely suggest that you start a thread somewhere else about pool fees and what you consider "reasonable". The fact of the matter is that everyone gets to make the decision for themselves -- by either joining the pool or, you know... not. And that's all that needs to be said about that here.

I pledge never to use this space for sleazy referrals, gambling spam, or to beg for handouts.

Any connection issues with the US server? If I change it to the EU server I can connect and start mining. Once I switch it back to the US server I'm unable to connect. I've reboot my rig about 10 times trying to connect to stratum.btcguild.com:3333 but it won't connect. It will connect to eu-stratum.btcguild.com:3333.

Update
30 minutes later....I'm still only able to connect to the EU server. My rig tells me "API connection failed" when I try to connect to the US server. I can see if I couldn't connect to both, but the EU server connects real quick and starts hashing right away. Takes forever to get up to speed though.

I thought eleuthria never sleeps?

I'm still only able to connect on the EU server. My Dad who is connected and hashing on the US server was going to update his firmware but I told him not to since he may not be able to re-connect after his reboot. Just a little nervous, that's all since this never happened to me before.

Me too. One of my BF rigs suddenly does not like the US server. EU server is OK though.

Strange.

I go and try to get my second Cube running tonight and I restarted my main PC that is running the proxy and BFGminer...and neither would reconnect to the US server.  After looking here and seeing others having the same trouble, I pointed them at the EU server and they roared back to life.  I'll try to point them back at the US server in the morning....

Joining this pool to combat the nasties at ghash. But not much hash coming your way but glad to be doing something to fix the possible problem.

So that's 3 confirmed users that can't connect to the US servers, 4 hours later and I'm still running on the EU server. Can't connect to the US server.

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

I have 3 rigs running as well.  Rebooted 2 of them and cgminer will not see the us server anymore, it does see the eu server.  The one rig I left alone is still on the us server hashing away.  Something to do with the internet gods/proxying us for past sins, or something like that.  This happens every so often.

There is a private server? Why is it private? You pay more fees or something?

Is there an ETA when we will be able to connect to the US server again?
I think we have 5 or 6 confirmed cases already.

Yeah, I too was fine with the US server until I had to restart bfgminer, since I've been on the EU server for 4 hours now.

Access to the private server is by invitation.  In the past, Eleuthria has offered access to many others during persistent DoS attacks.
