These sort of decisions can go both ways. This time it failed and Root needs to admit his mistake. He went ahead with the combination of Chris Woakes/Ollie Robinson/Mark Wood. These three bowlers took 9 wickets in total, after conceding 239 runs. As you can see, these figures doesn't look too bad. The failure was from the part of the spinners (Jack Leach) and the part-time bowler (Ben Stokes). Anyway, it was a blunder to leave out two of the most experienced pacers (who are among the top wicket takers in test cricket at this point).
Good thing he admits his mistake but still they are not doing good things which give them very poor result mean batting in both innings they have nothing special from any batsman and now still going with these culprits which are not able to perform here in these conditions on other side they are having some good confidence on Stokes which is not fully fit for this series because of his injury and having not good practice for some long time. Now less than 36 hours in start of second test and too much talk about bowling from England side is good, but they need some good at batting as well which is surely again going to create problems for them in presence of quality Aussies bowlers at their own home.

Every pundit focusing on bowler's fault, kinda weird cause main culprits were batters.
True, but the fact that bowlers like Broad and Anderson who have basically established themselves as legends in the test format weren't included in the line-up surprised many fans around the world which led to Root getting criticised. The English batsmen excluding Root need to step up their game though since their batting averages which you shared in one of your previous posts are mediocre.

This was shocking decision from Root about Anderson/Broad just because of this he faced some serious criticized from cricket community because their batting is not helping them in last few years with many dumb players only Root alone doing some better with the help of these legendary bowlers and this time he tries some experiment which give them big lesson hopefully now in second test they could be able to have some better result. Still they need to do some good work for test quality batsmen as they have world's best domestic set up, but it's not able to give them good quality better technique batsmen. Now, Australia also having some problems with injuries, but their bench power is very good for them to handle these things in better way.

Management and coach Silverwood playing 4d chess (they are big on rotation policy which is not helping anymore), for some weird reasons they believe that pink ball setup suits their team's strength and they wanted their best bowlers to fresh for the Pink ball hence no Broad-Jimmy. Bizarre thinking considering whenever they play Pink ball test in away condition, they gets hammered by opposition.

I personally believe they decided to surprise Australia thinking it would work for them, but the jokes on them because it backfired spectacularly. Furthermore their over reliance on Stokes shows how weak their planning actually is, and for this the selectors and the board too should take responsibility for failing to prepare a competitive side.

Furthermore, David Warner will not be resting in the 2nd test and he will play even though he had the damaged rib. I remember that warner did not field in the second innings of the 1st test match. I don't understand why Australians need to play him even though he is not fully fit. This decision may be beneficial to England

Its better to include a fit average player in playing 11 then to include an injured good player. Meanwhile Jhye Richardson will replace injured Josh Hazlewood in 2nd test at Adelaide. If Aussies are going with injured Warner in 2nd test then surely it will benefit England.

I doubt if they wanted to surprise Australia, in my reading i think they didn't gave themselves much chance at Gabba as they were already convinced that they will lose the first match, even before series started. Their batters are in bad form so i can understand over reliance on Stokes and Root. Stokes is big match player and Root is the only batter who is in excellent form. 12 men squad, same batting line up. Now for the first pink ball test they are relying on Broad-Jimmy duo. Would be interesting to watch who they are going to leave out. Leach or Woakes-Jimmy-Broad?

Probably Jimmy and Broad will stay in the final squad of second test match. And there is no reason to put Woakes out of the final squad. I think Leach will be not included in the match. England should focus much to improve their batting lineup rather than the bowling section. ~snip~
Warner won't be able to play with the same strength as he did it in the first test. Team management should leave him for the second test. Jhye Richardson, the young player will replace Hazlewood in the next match. I think, Hazlewood absence will not create much impact in Australian bowling lineup.

Not much is known about the intensity of injury Warner has. It may be he is partially injured and can play thats why he is not left out. Things will be cleared on the day 2nd test start. Jhye Richardson the replacement of Hazlewood is very young player, only played 2 tests so far. Its good chance for him to show his talent.

Uh-oh not a good news for Aussie. New skipper and no 1 bowler in the world Pat Cummins is ruled out from the D/N test. Smudge will lead the team, this is a excellent opportunity for the England and their batters to get some runs.

England should focus much to improve their batting lineup rather than the bowling section. The match is about to start in less than one hour, and it is confirmed that Michael Neser will be making his debut. Pat Cummins himself put up a tweet congratulating him. Meanwhile, today's match is the 150th test outing for Stuart Broad. He and Jimmy Anderson are having the experience of 317 test matches between them. I really doubt whether we ever had such an experienced pace bowling duo at any time in the history of test cricket (please correct me in case I am wrong). Mark Wood is not playing (dropped), but still some confusion about Leach. If Leach is in, then it is going to be a choice between Robinson and Woakes.

This was interesting session. England has bowled well so far and it seems like they are now adopting Neil Wagner's short ball strategy, especially against the Marnus (Marnus is on road to become greatest batsman in modern era). Warner looked sketchy at start but now looking good. When playing at Adelaide Pink ball behaves dangerously under light so competition between bat and ball should be cracking.
England should watch out for DRS, they already wasted 2 reviews.
Edit
Including over rates.

Aus doing very good so far. They have lost only one wicket and manage to score 130 runs in 54 overs. They are doing justice with there batting, warner 67 of 141 balls and Marnus 55 of 163 balls. Warner is good in adopting the format very well, he just came from T20 WC and now batting perfectly in test. Anderson and Braud so far just manage to get 1 wicket.

Shittt Davey!! why why? Poor guy missed a ton again. Aus 178/2 English bowlers were about to ran out of carrots so this wicket should give them some boost but i suspect if we are going to see another new ball tonight, they are bowling too slow and doubt (unless they extend the game by half n hour or so), all D/N test fuss revolves around facing new ball under lights. ----------- Edit Here comes the new ball. ------------ Edit 1 Well done Buttler keep dropping sitters.

Edit 1 Well done Buttler keep dropping sitters. Buttler dropped Labuschagne on 21 and 95, Labuschagne has made England pay for these drops. Foundation has been setup by Warner and Labuschagne, its Australia who is in full command right now. Warner was unlucky to miss his 26th test hundred by just 5 runs.

You are right. Both are well experienced player in test format. But their duo aren't helping England bowling lineup. Australia has collected 221 runs by losing two wickets only. Although Broad took an early wicket today, but Warner & Marnus Labuschagne made a good partnership in the second wicket. Mark Wood is not playing (dropped), but still some confusion about Leach. If Leach is in, then it is going to be a choice between Robinson and Woakes.
It was obvious that Leach will not be included in the final squad. He didn't bowl well in the first test match. Robinson and Woakes bowled well in the first match. So there was no reason to keep them out of the squad.
