I hardly think they intended to give too high specs, but promising a very high hashrate and efficiency that then cannot be met obviously isn´t beneficial for them either.
I think once the product specs are confirmed (and in a competitive range) they will still be able to sell their coming batches, let alone chips.
Obviously, most of the profit on the sp30s should be gone (for sp) with compensation for lower hashrate and efficiency in order.
If they have managed to produce a good chip they will still be able to do additional bulk sales of those, and if the sp30 doesn´t turn out too horrible, those will surely sell aswell.

strange is no official response there at forum, no response from ticket system/www form, customer service is not responding...
after getting millions of dollars from preorders they have stopped any communication.
another case of miners screwed by preorders?
why not to buy from stock?
Patient please, we're busy. Guy Is it true that the airliners stopped flights to Israel This is what I heard to the news. Minister of FA John Kerry announced this!!! You must mean Secretary of State John Kerry. Lol. Yes Secretary of State but I heard today the air-liners lifted this just this morning so everything back to normal... The ban on flights is being lifted ( http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/07/24/us-mideast-gaza-idUSKBN0FT06I20140724). About the performance issues, the SP30 is a leading-edge product, and as it attempts to raise the bar you expect to encounter some issues that needs to be resolved. If it was so 'trivial' then the average Joe could design/build/sell these. Rather than falling into 'despair' and 'criticism' one probably needs to give the engineers at SP Tech a chance to focus on the problems at hand and solve them. Cheers

Lessons learned from Black Arrow...
1. Do not promise anyone compensation specifics because whatever you offer now won't be good enough a week later. Wait until you're shipping to announce compensation specifics.
2. Expect refund requests, a lot of them. Especially if you're late.
3. Expect a lot of trolling.
and lastly...
4. Continue to communicate with your customers. This is most important. What you promised them was a failure. So now you need to shore up their confidence that you will do right by them.
Presentation over, there are snacks and coffee in the lobby. Thanks for coming.
no way will they refund all imho....1) they probably don't have the $$$ 2) at the price of btc vs the mining of say less then 6th at 2600 watts ie say it is 5th at 2600 watts now...well that would make little sense if you could get a refund and just buy more BTC at the 620 price say this probably has already been discarded..but if it is heat/chips less then expected..you ship 2 boxes ie using the larger more space more fans sp30 current box.....1 main board 1 power supply each box more room bigger fans..etc...heat problem lessened..and get as close to 6TH as you can pull out of this mess at what 1300 watts a box or so... give folks a choice of keep 1 box or get 2 boxes or use the 2nd box for something further down the line from spondoolies in the future or compensate that last box with $$$ ideally full refund to all that ask...but again that is not gonna happen but poor performance chips (say only this 1st batch..hopefully) I'd just dump them in 2 boxes instead of 1 and out the door..maybe some 10% off future orders tossed in anyway my expections are this last option if they plan to get the beasts out in their time line ... of course this may have already been brought up and disregarded ie i missed the post...but seems to me a possible obvious fix if not ideal Searing Couple days (From YOUR quote) is not within 2 weeks... Think before you speak please... I don't doubt they will be here before the 9th, but AFTER the news today you made that post. Bitcoinarama says what?
No need to quote my full post. Ok a maximum of 2 weeks seems reasonable considering the latest news and it's still on time for their August batch so I'm happy! Just saying i expect delivery as well but I will say this if SP fails preorders will be officially dead i.e it will be darn near impossible to get pre-orders out of this community every again or at least in the near term 2-3 years imo. Which I supposed could be a good thing for our sanity long term. Newbies will pre-order...but I agree...there will be less folks to do so in the future who have already mine'd ..this.. ..may make a difference not sure on this process Searing

Don't worry. Your miners will arrive on time and on spec. Unfortunately, this is the same thing CoinTerra, KnC, BFL all said. It has about the same meaning as 'the check is in the mail!' lol! Spondoolies said with supreme confidence - they would deliver on time and on spec. Well, unless something doesn't go right that is. joke. I bought a $100,000 joke. Again. There is no need to trust these guys. Words are cheap. Its the guy who sends the money that gets screwed every time. Spondoolies will say anything. I actually believed it would be a Hamas missile that would ruin this deal. Up to the very end, I didn't think it would be technical incompetence which would end up spoiling everything. What a royal pig fuck. Lies, lies, then more lies. Seriously, we know what we're doing. The ASICs will arrive on time, working. SP30 will be delivered on time and on spec.
Seriously, we know what we're doing - we're fucking the customers with even more lies!!! I was saying this in April but nobody wanted to listen to me then. Now you have to "hope" that they'll make it right and that they can still deliver on time because they've offloaded all of the risk to you.

At this point I just don't believe that you have bought SP30s worth of $100k. You seem to be the only customer that can't wait a few more days for final specs. Edit: On another note I discovered why I made the mistake: Oh dear god! It's PH not TH. 30THs is just 5 (or 6) SP30s.
On my! What a stupid typo. Long day... It was kendog77 that tricked me I strongly suspect the 30TH was caused by variance and by Bitmain manufacturing...

... If each chip pulls double the wattage that it was supposed to, do you think they made sure that the copper layers in the PCB can handle the extra load? Can the rest of the components handle the extra load? ...
Please avoid rumors and speculations. We'll release all the information in few days. Let us complete testing and firmware tuning. I can share that we have stable systems (plural) in our labs. There is not PCB issue, etc. We've designed with enough headroom. We'll ship the orders on time. I can also share that we're zeroing on the issue and it's a TSMC production issue. Future batches (October) will meet our desired spec. Guy

Black Arrow did the same thing, took an FPGA design and shrunk it into an ASIC and said the same stuff about power efficiency, shipping on time, etc. They also had a track record of shipping products previously.
They ended up with a chip that is about half the speed at the same efficiency that they promised. Or basically .5 watts per gh. But each chip did half as much as they had hoped.
If the same technical issue that screwed up their simulations also impacted ST, then one can say that the efficiency could be the same but the SP30 will deliver half as much hash. So 3th.
Now, they could raise the power and increase the hash, lowering the efficiency, which doing some quick math would get them to maybe 4.5th at their original power specs. 5.4th is their bottom number for preorders. So they'd be on the hook for about 1.1th.
Effectively they could give every SP30 order an SP10 as well. That would give them an equal hash rate to what was ordered, but increase power cost.
Alternatively they could keep the efficiency, and give everyone 2 SP30's. This would be more ideal for the customer. Not perfect, but the power usage would be the same. (Would require more rack space however)
However, both of those options may be too costly for ST to deliver. So we wait and see what happens...

Yep, as I posted earlier he already admitted he missed out on the SP30's when he was spamming that crap about SP50's a few weeks back. You can see the sort of guy he is by just watching his Youtube channel videos he promotes in his sig.

To sooth the rumours about current situation between Israel and Gaza Strip I recommend watching YT news clip by Vice News called "Life Under Israel's Iron Dome: Rockets and Revenge (Dispatch 3)".
According to Israeli military about 90% of rockets fired by Hamas are intercepted.
Iron Dome intercepts only rockets that are destined to hit populated area. Of those rockets, 90% are actually being destroyed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHH6MRmw_Jo
