Let's not forget that this is just a friendly, pre-season game. The results of these friendly matches often do not show how the teams will perform throughout the season. But it is still an excellent sign for Man United, showing that they are really better than last season. Yes it is a good idea to keep everything in context. If the Premier League last season was very competitive, this season will be even more so. I hope it will not be a two horse race for the championship between Manchester City and Liverpool. And if there are more than six teams teams trying to get one of the four champions leagues places it will be a good season. I'm not sure it's particularly illustrative of anything, the score was 4-0 to United here, but apparently Liverpool used more than 30 different players over the course of the match, so I can't imagine there will have been much flow to their play. And Liverpool also apparently hit the post three times. Liverpool used 21 substitutes and Manchester United used 11 substitutes. Liverpool could have hit the post 50 times it still would not change the result, they were outplayed and were hammered 4-0 by a team that has a new manager and is considered to be in trouble. Most of the Liverpool first team players (Salah, van Dijk, Robertson, Arnold, Fabinho, Konate, Thiago, Keita and Nunez) came on the pitch in the 61st minute therefore even with 30 minutes of the game to be played they failed to score yet still conceded another goal in the 76th minute. There are no excuses here, Liverpool were awful because Manchester United stopped them by playing an attacking type of football Liverpool could not handle. I'm not sure that we can say much about it, as you say it may conceivably give United a psychological edge when they play for real... but I don't think this would be enough to overcome the fact that Liverpool are the far superior team of the two, and when it comes to a real match you'd still expect Liverpool to win. Last season Liverpool were far superior of the two but this is a new season and Liverpool will have to prove they are far superior of the two... thus far they have not proven anything except they were beaten 4-0. We can make a decision which team is superior based on results and style when the season starts. @Cnut237 what @JollyGood is trying to saying is that Manchester United won’t be scared of facing them in the premier league, because last season even before the match began it felt like Manchester United had already given up, because the morale was completely gone. Lastly while we attacked well defensively we’re yet weak, hence we need signings and we immediately need a new CM cause because I don’t want to see McFred play much during the season. I think Manchester United should end the season in the top 4, they have got rid of problem players such as Pogba and can start bringing in a blend of youth with experience. Going by how they dismantled Liverpool they will not fear playing any team. Ronaldo did not travel with the Manchester United to Thailand and now the team has arrived in Australia as part of their tour but he is absent on compassionate grounds but in many media reports attributed to insiders, they say he wants to move because he wants to play in the champions league not in the Europa league.

I think there will be more teams vying for the top spots in the championship. In addition to Man City and Liverpool, I believe Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United will compete a lot for the best positions in the Premier League.

Going by how they dismantled Liverpool they will not fear playing any team. Manchester United and Arsenal are preseason masters, always having a great preseason game, always taking their preseason matches very seriously, but when the real business begins, they drop! Chelsea and Tottenham will undoubtedly make the top 4, but Manchester United and Arsenal, based on their recruitment thus far, would not. If ETH can get the team to the Champions League next season, we can call it a successful season. He's demanding players from his former club AJAX, and I'm afraid they won't do well; players from that league rarely perform well in the EPL. Ronaldo did not travel with the Manchester United to Thailand and now the team has arrived in Australia as part of their tour but he is absent on compassionate grounds but in many media reports attributed to insiders, they say he wants to move because he wants to play in the champions league not in the Europa league.
Tuchel has asked Chelsea owner Todd Boehly to disregard the Ronaldo deal after the Chelsea owner met with Ronaldo's agent about a possible move to Chelsea to fill the void left by Lukaku. Due to his high wages and age, few clubs are interested in signing him, now that Chelsea has officially dropped out of the race. He could end up moving to America or staying at Manchester United for another year.

He's demanding players from his former club AJAX, and I'm afraid they won't do well; players from that league rarely perform well in the EPL. I am not surprised you think the 4-0 result is not going to change anything. Do you think Liverpool will be as successful as their pervious two seasons without Mane? I think Ruud van Nistelrooy was the player that was most effective going from PSV Eindhoven to Manchester United and cementing his place there as an out-and-out goalscorer. Also, Il Fenomeno (the great Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima) went from PSV to Barcelona in 1996 for world record fee at the time where he stayed just one season but scored 34 goals in 37 league appearances with a total of 47 goals in 49 appearances. The news reports I read were about Tuchel ruling himself and Chelsea out of signing Ronaldo on the basis of the player having too much media attention and that would upset the balance of the team with him having the spotlight to himself. Chelsea have purchased Sterling for around £50 million, when Chelsea can attract players of that calibre it means they will try to be the premier league winners, they do not want to settle for third place but they have not signed anybody else.

Agree, Arsenal and MU machines are always hot fast in the preseason, that possibility they are early to market their product in the outside country and at least they have special fans in Asia. Arsenal is one of them. since Arsene Wenger's, Arsenal more focused on selling the product in Asia, as we can see they many bought players from Asia like Japan and Korea, and so is MU, so we are not surprised when both are very familiar with people in Asia, and if competing in Asia, like Bangkok, both must fight with winning to defend the name.

Well here how I think how the top 6 teams in will stand in order at the end of the 22/23 season Manchester City Chelsea Liverpool Manchester United ----- Tottenham Hotspur Arsenal----- I think Liverpool will suffer without Mane but ten Hag will have a positive impact at Manchester United. At the same time Tuchel will try to elevate Chelsea to another level.

I think they will continue to do a good job, as they did last season. And in that sense, they will certainly have a better rating.

Arsenal suffered a monumental collapse at the end of last season which saw Tottenham leapfrog them for the final champions league place. With Manchester United out of the way because of poor form and Tottenham behind on points, Arsenal had a clear run to clinch the 4th and final champions league place but they suffered a horrible end of the season with bad results. With just 3 games remaining their back to back away losses 3-0 at Tottenham and their 2-0 loss at Newcastle sealed their fate in 5th place and Europa League football. Had they beaten Tottenham they would have finished in 4th place instead. If I was to choose between Arsenal or Spurs finishing higher, I would choose Spurs. Well here how I think how the top 6 teams in will stand in order at the end of the 22/23 season Manchester City Chelsea Liverpool Manchester United ----- Tottenham Hotspur Arsenal----- I would put Arsenal a little higher up the leaderboard. I am not surprised you think the 4-0 result is not going to change anything. Do you think Liverpool will be as successful as their pervious two seasons without Mane? It would make no difference because those goals were scored against a weak Liverpool side, Liverpool only introduced their best players in the 60th minute of the game, and I'm not convinced with the way they play right now. Mane's departure will have a significant impact on Liverpool's next season; he was the team's engine and did the dirty work; he will be greatly missed. They also won another game by 1-4 scoreline, they are preseason merchants. Chelsea have purchased Sterling for around £50 million, when Chelsea can attract players of that calibre it means they will try to be the premier league winners, they do not want to settle for third place but they have not signed anybody else.
A fantastic signing for us! He's the only player who can at least mimic Hazard's style of play; Raheem has the ability to influence match results due to his speed and skills. And he has more experience than our current wingers. We've also completed the Kaloubaly deal, which was completed faster than I expected. We're on the right track right now; we just need two more CBs and a creative midfielder to compete for the title next season.

Mane's departure will have a significant impact on Liverpool's next season; he was the team's engine and did the dirty work; he will be greatly missed. Absolutely. He was an effective player for them but was unfairly put in a lower salary bracket to the top earners at the club. How was it Mane was earning £90,000 per week when Salah was earning £180,000 per week? Was Salah worth double of what Mane was receiving? I hope he will be happy at his new club in Germany. Liverpool fans and players will miss him. A fantastic signing for us! He's the only player who can at least mimic Hazard's style of play; Raheem has the ability to influence match results due to his speed and skills. And he has more experience than our current wingers. Hazard played some brilliant football at Chelsea when he was fully fit but he failed to live up to his huge price tag when he was purchased by Real Madrid. I think Sterling has been consistent throughout the last decade almost and will be a top player for Chelsea.

They clearly wanted him gone. He appears to be content at Bayern. A fantastic signing for us! Chelsea and Bayern Munich ruined the Ronaldo deal; what now for him? Manchester United comeback?

They clearly wanted him gone. He appears to be content at Bayern. I did not know Mane asked for £250,00 per week to stay and I am not sure they wanted him gone. My understanding was that after six years at the club he wanted a new challenge and Klopp seems to confirm this: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-transfers-klopp-mane-tour-27450686Liverpool and Klopp would have been happy for him to stay, they could have replaced him two years down the line but Mane refused to sign a ne contract or discuss a pay rise. Rather than keep a player that wanted to move, they accepted an offer from Bayern Munich that could rise to £35 million if certain conditions were to be met, they decided to cash-in. Hazard's Real Madrid career was ruined by a lack of playing time and injuries. It saddened me to see him degrade every season since he arrived.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich ruined the Ronaldo deal; what now for him? Manchester United comeback?Real Madrid unveiled Hazard with great fanfare but he could not live up to the reputation because of those injuries. Sadly for him he will not be remembered at his time in Madrid for anything other than being a monumental failure and disappointment. I knew he had to leave that particular season because he was playing fantastic football for Chelsea and he could not refuse when Real Madrid chased him. The transfer fee was good for Chelsea too. As for Ronaldo, he may end up staying at Manchester United which would mean after 19 consecutive seasons playing in the Champions League he will have to settle for the Europa League. I have no idea how close he was to joining either Bayern Munich or Chelsea but right now it looks likely he will be staying at Manchester United as even though his financial demands will probably be met, no manager will risk upsetting his existing team and exisitng star players when a showman famous footballing legend signs bringing with him a massive media and social media following his every move which in itself brings a new spotlight on the club. He already rejected a £105 million per year salary at a Middle Eastern club in order to play at the highest level in Europe if possible.

Two successful pre-season games were won by Man United. Although it can't be the basis of saying Man United is good. But indeed I was a little surprised by the drastic change in the pattern of the game. Ten Hag gave a lot of instructions to play fast short flat passes. Rarely do they make a long pass of the upper ball. It's really nice to see a game like this. The philosophy of the ball is like Pep Guardiola. Maybe if they can continue like this I believe Man United can compete with Man City again.

If Manchester United are to surpass Manchester City or compete with them on equal terms there need to be specific sets of circumstances in place and in my opinion they have to include a general decline in Manchester City because of an ageing team not being replenished with a combination of new signings and youth players being introduced to the first team and Manchester United doing the exact opposite. Guardiola and ten Hag both share a philosophy of playing non-long-ball football. The Ajax team ten Hag managed played some stunning football and fell marginally short of getting to a Champions League final but they dominated Dutch domestic football. If he can bring that style to Manchester United this season and the players buy in to the philosophy of their manager, they will be fighting for a runners-up spot with Liverpool. I still think Manchester City will win the Premier League again this season but Liverpool will suffer massively without Mane. What would be the odds on Liverpool not making the top 4 and finishing in a Europa League spot? Two successful pre-season games were won by Man United. I would say that maybe they are bigger than it seems at first glance. Klopp has already had a serious slump after a successful season in Liverpool and Dortmund also. now without a key player with a somewhat saturated team, it is quite possible that they lose their intensity. With all that, they always play the same even after so many years. slightly better managers will find a way to play against them. also the "worse half" of the big six Arsenal, Totham, and Man United are seriously improving and there will be no guaranteed points like before.

Salah's transfer value was higher than Mane's before both of them arrived at Liverpool, so I understand why he was earning more than Mane, but if they can offer Salah £350/week, I don't understand why the club turned down Mane's £250/week demand.

And when in doubt, always check the betting market. https://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/cristiano-ronaldo/club-after-summer-transfer-windowRonaldo to Bayern Munich is at 8.00. Atletico is more likely to acquire him lined at 4.00 by the bookies with Sporting Lisbon in the market at 12.00. The most likely scenario is he stays at United but I don't hate the thought of Ronaldo moving back home at Portugal which could be a more likely scenario that Bayern imho.

It is very difficult to predict the winner of the upcoming season already. Of course, the biggest candidates are Liverpool and Manchester City, as many have pointed out. But it seems that I will not be able to come to a clear decision on a team until I see the early times of the season, maybe even the middle of the season. It's important to see what kind of improvement we will see from other big teams. There's still a long way to go in the summer transfer window, and the right moves could lead an unlikely team into the title fight. There is a serious difference in quality between the two teams I have counted for now and the other teams. Manchester City bought Haaland and Kalvin Phillips. The amount paid for Phillips seems too high to me, but as Pep wants it, he will probably play a lot this season.

I would not be surprised if what you say turns out true because when the impact of not having Mane in the squad hits home, Klopp will have to improvise. Nunez has potential to be a great player in his own right but he plays a completely different brand of football to Mane and is the wrong choice to buy in order to replace Mane. Nunez seems to be an out-and-out goal scorer whereas Mane is a play maker and less prolific goal scorer. With all that, they always play the same even after so many years. slightly better managers will find a way to play against them. also the "worse half" of the big six Arsenal, Totham, and Man United are seriously improving and there will be no guaranteed points like before. It would be an interesting statistic to read about Liverpool results against the other big 5 teams under Klopp but they are improving and tis will make it an interesting season.

I'm not a Liverpool fan, but Nunez is not Mane's replacement; he is Origi's replacement; Klipp needed a target man in the team to compete with Firmino, who was the only striker when Origi left. Mane's replacement is Diaz; Liverpool knew they couldn't afford to keep Mane and Salah in the team, and since Diaz's arrival, Mane was pushed from his natural position to playing as a false 9. Last season, Diaz was the one who did the dirty work for Mane and Salah. He's a dangerous player.

When it comes to Mane and what he gave to Liverpool in the six years of service he was their player, it was high quality. As it stands neither Diaz, Nunez or Jota are anywhere near being his replacement. When Salah will not have Mane making those assists and those runs for him allowing Salah to score, then the real impact of Mane not being there will be felt. I would not be surprised if what you say turns out true because when the impact of not having Mane in the squad hits home, Klopp will have to improvise.
