What that disturbs me about the super eagle's performance in this game and most of their games in this AFCON competition is that they have been finding it difficult to score more of goals even with our number 9 man Victor Osimhen having so many opportunities to score but still finds it so difficult to see the back of the net apart from that his account opening goal during their first leg game with Equatorial Guinea and making him to scoring only one goal in this competition after playing 3 matches, very our there African best player, Oshimhen.

It was a disappointing game for Victor Osimhen and the entire Super Eagles team. Equatorial Guinea is ranked 103 while the Nigerian national side is in the 40th spot, so one would have expected the game to be an easy one for the Eagles. If I could count rightly Victor missed about three clear chances that were well positioned on his head which is one of his best goalscoring positions. The best section of the Nigerian team is the defence. We are seeing some great performances from Ola Aina and Calvin Bassey, these young players have been solid in the defence.

It was really a humiliating defeat against the host. How come the might Ivory coast have been reduced to nothing! I noticed that after the set of Yaya Toure set, Ivory coast have been struggling and unable to build a formidable team . Tonight they actually did the playing while Equatorial Guinea did the scoring. From possession to shots on target, Ivory Coast led yet they lost the match by 4 goals to 1. This is what makes football fantastic and full of surprises.

It was indeed a humiliation of the Ivorian side in front of their home fans. Sadly they had two good goals disallowed which would have given them the motivation to keep fighting to win the game. From the beginning of the game, I observed that the hosts were playing under serious pressure and it affected the defence. They were so attack-minded that they failed to checkmate the midfield and defence. This made Equatorial Guinea side to take advantage of these lapses to launch several counterattacks. My only problem is that we might start seeing empty stadiums because the host nation has been eliminated.

its not like anyone isn't happy that they've been able scale through the group stage, the thing is that they are not connecting too well and from all the three matches they played, they've not played in a way that convinces you that they are possible contenders for the trophy.

Look at the goals they scored na, apart from the one osimehm scored, the other two is just through penalty and an home goal this time around. Those are not the kind of goals we want to see from them to be very honest. We want to see a quality play that will give you this assurance that the trophy is coming back home.

I just hope when they finally get into the knockout stage they will bring something new to the table.

 If this game ends like this, Egypt will be another team to kiss the AFCON goodbye after the hosts, Ivory coast were sent packing by Equatorial Guinea earlier today. At the moment, it's half time and I'm sure we'd be seeing much interesting action come the second half. With this goal, Egypt will be forced to double down on their efforts and I must say that the Cape Verde side will want to make the work difficult for the pharaohs by ensuring they defend to the last minute. I've watched this side and it's safe to say they are a side that will surprise you if you underrate them and so far, there has been a lot of underrating in this tournament. I mean who would have believed that the elephants of Ivory Coast will be thrashed by a low team like Equatorial Guinea?

I was expecting a goal from the Nigerian FC at the second half but then they scored their goal or was off side and the goal have to be cancelled.
However, the NGA FC are fund of drawing matches or losing, I don't really know why.

Football can be funny at times, a team can look like they are underperforming now, but once they get the confidence and courage to face the better teams head on be rest assured that these guys will remind the world why Nigeria is considered a footballing Nation and wins don't matter how they come..either own goal's, penalties etc a win is a win

What was more important though was for Nigeria to win the match but I'm not really happy about the level at which they played in that match. No energy and no show of superiority. I am also not really excited about how Nigeria is going this far because a journey of thousand times starts with one.

1 - 0 above Guinea-Bissau is not encouraging for a country planning to win the cup titles. We all should have expected them to do better but just that wasn't the case. Now, what is more important than the goals is the 3 points and that's what we should at least appreciate them for. Now we are still right on the table to qualify for the next rounds of matches but they must brace up at this time.

I was also expecting like this Egypt is going to say goodbye after end of this match because things were not looking good for them in first half and end of half with trailing by 1–0 was surely heartbroken for the fans as well but super substitute done his job quickly and bring Egypt back at the level with Cape Verde now after 50th minute game we are having score of 1–1 for the both teams 29 years old Trezeguet score and now most chances we are going to have another winner from them as hopes are high for the better end of them in this season, and they can fight back from here for the next round as well.
In this season we have few surprises which is clearly showing how things are taking changes and teams are improving their quality which is giving them better results and consistency which is important for the all countries in this cup.

Nigerian Super Eagle team did not perform to our expectation, but the important thing was done which is winning the match by all means.

The Ivorian team have good attacking line even though they lose chances, but the team's main problem is defense. The wingers and the midfielders will try everything possible to create chances, while their defenders will be causing the team unnecessary goals.

With this kind of display that the Nigerian team showed in today's game, I don't think they can make it out of the knockout stage. How can they not score a single goal in this match. The coach of this team has to step up in his performance, he needs to find out what's making the team not to score goals.

I was watching the game and it was as if someone sprayed me pepper spray on my eyes, I could not believed that the Super Eagles couldn't get more than 1 goal in 3 games. The Super Eagles didn't play anything that's impressive and we can't play against teams like Senegal in the round of 16 and I pray they fix us with such a team, Cape Verde that's giving Egypt a big headache the Eagles can't beat them.
To me the Super Eagles are not yet ready they have been working on luck to get this far and any mistake would send them packing. I ask again, what is Alex Iwobi doing in that squad? Someone who doesn't know when to pass or shot, hmm... we are lacking behind. We don't have a better midfield and the wingers are just jokers so if we continue like this I don't see us beating our next opponent, today's performance was awful.

The 7 points Nigeria has is just their luck and they are at the edge of going home. Some people are displeased with the officiating today, mainly because the referee was a woman. What’s wrong with a female officiating men football? If we are to be honest, all the calls were spot on. There is no reason for us to believe that there was a robbery. The Nigerian disallowed goal was spot on, also the handball in the box was not a penalty. The ball struck the arm of the defender but he was too close and couldn’t remove his hand, and according to FIFA rules, that’s not a penalty. History was made today, we shouldn’t take that away from her.

The match has eventually ended and i feel disappointed at the result of the game 1:0 and it was an own goal.  Nigeria possessed the game had 12 shorts on target but  failed to convert to goals many of those  chances they had, with attackers commiting themselves to many offsides leading to their 2 goals being denied as a result.

Nigeria gave it everything they had to win the game against Guinea-Bissau today. Since Nigeria refused to play, they found the first half of the competition extremely difficult. However, when Nigeria began play in the second half, they really did well because they applied a lot of pressure and produced good outcomes. All in all, the contest was quite exciting. Despite that we luck own goal, but we shall get the full 3 points. I don't see any disappointment from Nigeria because they tried their possible best, and if no be say almost two have been denied, we could end the match with three goals. As it stands now, Equatorial Guinea now holds the top spot, followed by Nigeria in second place, Ivory Coast in third place, and Guinea-Bissau in fourth place Nigeria will continue move forward.

It's sad to see that the hosting team Ivory coast has failed to qualify in their group haven lost shamefully to Guinea Bissau 4 goals to nil and ivory coast couldn't reply back with even just a single goal despite they been the favourite in that game tonight. Football never stop surprising us.

I don't think they'd qualify for even fourth best if there's such a position because asides from their first win to Guinea, the rest, they were not impressive at all and I wondered if it's Ivory coast that were struggling to beat small teams. They did us the favor of hosting the tournament and that was how far they could go. And as for Egypt, I'd say the fact that Mo Salah had to get injured really affected them because see how they started playing without coordination or confidence. Imagine drawing with a team like Cape Verde, when normally they shouldn't be any challenge. All the same, it's a good thing they were able to stay and qualify for the next round, at least they have been given another chance to sit up and do better.

I wouldn’t say it was a disgraceful performance but I will say they actually should have done better, as a team going to win a tournament they should have converted most of the chances they got, that’s how to set a mark. Because many people actually defeated Guinea Bissau doesn’t mean Nigeria can win them all in a large score because that’s how football is. look at the other two teams EQG and Ivory Coast you will see that we actually played well against this two, and both destroyed each other today.

The problem this Nigeria team has is that they do not have some very creative player in the squad. All the midfielders are actually central midfielders and not an attacking midfielder and this is the major reason they are facing this goal drought in the tournament

I have been talking about it but someone on this thread said we're just being negative but in hindsight, Nigeria has only gotten to the knockout phase by the grace of God. Nothing more. Zero tactics, very terrible game plays have been core attributes of Nigeria's journey in the 2023 Afcon.

Undoubtedly, the Super Eagles are the luckiest team in the AFCON. Their performance is not the best and yet they have managed to scale through to the next round. My fear is that luck/grace does not guarantee success in these competitions, we have to be prepared for the next round. Most of the countries in Africa do not have star players, but what they do have is a team. Nigeria do not play as a team and it’s very obvious.
