Super Eagle has only conceded a goal out of their four matches played so far in the tournament. This could be our best AFCON match so far because our defense and frontline are strong, coupled with we have a good goalkeeper.
Nwabali has not really been tested because our defense has been very good. Nwabali was subbed out of the game because of an injury from the rough play of the Cameroonians, we await to hear good news about his return because we cannot trust Uzoho at this stage of the competition where the competition is getting more serious.

I liked the seriousness I saw in our players yesterday against Cameroon, they bullied the Indomitable lions all through the game. Pressed hard and were aggressive. If we can be that serious against Angola, we will beat them.
Nwabali is not looking to me like a very good keeper but then he's a preferred choice than uzoho , so far our defense has been really fantastic in their performance and have made it that there have been no serious threat to test nwabali to the ebest of his ability but so far I think he will make a better combination with the Eagles defense line than with Uzoho, the few minutes Uzoho played yesterday shows how chaotic he could be if he were to have played in the full time .

I'm hoping the Eagles maintain the strength around their defense and possibly improve it so they can see their selves to the finals even though they haven't been so outstanding in all their performance but so far they have been making progress.

Looking at Nwabali's body movement yesterday it has already show that he's far way better than Uzoho and you don't need the defense of the Eagles to be threatened before you say the goalkeeper is good, if the opponent doesn't disturb the defense it means the goalkeeper is doing very well (shouting at them and telling the defenders who's behind them) because he's the last man who sees everything.
The Super Eagles played well but the major problem they have is the wingers who are not really getting the ball to the striker, I see them (wingers) as guys who loves running with the ball without any positive result and where seems to be another problem is that number 10 role, nobody is doing the job pretty well and we know how good our attackers are when it comes to disturbing the defense line of our opponent, they need those crazy through passes to give us a goal. That creativity in that midfield is really not functioning, if we get that position working then we're good to go.

For the coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles to opt for Nwabali as the team's first choice goalkeeper ahead of Uzoho, the former Go Round FC goalkeeper must have proved beyond every reasonable doubt that he's the best man to stand between the sticks of the Super Eagles. Yesterday, he picked up an injury in the round of 16 game against Cameroon and I think it's a big blow ro the team of the Super Eagles.
After Uzoho was introduced in the second half as a result of Nwabali's injury, he didn't concede any goal but the defense of the Super Eagles didn't also allow him to face any serious test. If Nwabali fails to return to fitness before their quarter final game, it means that Uzoho is going to stand in for him and hopefully, he's going to do well when he's faced with difficult challenges.

Quite a funny game will be played today between Egypt and Congo. Both teams made it to the 1/8 finals, but neither of these teams ever won (all three games for each team ended in a draw). But today the winner must be revealed in any case, even through a penalty shootout. I hope Egypt will go further as they have significantly higher results and Salah, even if only theoretically, will still have a window to return to the tournament. Egypt is a slight favorite, but judging by the odds it will be a draw in regulation time:

2,49 - 2,70 - 3,00

I also want to see Egypt win tonight with the team players that we enjoy their game play. Even though, Congo team is also playing well and performing a good gameplay and won't be an easy opponent, both teams have the same chances to pass this stage with their diffrent gameplay. For someone who's going to bet on this match, honestly,  it's going to be difficult to chose between these two teams with close odds slightly in favor of Egypt.
Personally, I won't risk any money on this match not because of the odds only but both teams couldn't manage to win any match in this challenge. Not seeing any of them winning against any of the three opponents makes it more difficult to predict or know their real level. Both teams can surprise us with another level and mange to win with a bigger difference. What's your thoughts about the match maybe we can benefit from that!

I couldn't agree more. That was indeed one of them best games in the African Cup of Nations Competitions and they've just played another big country. First it was Ivory Coast to boost them confidence and last night it was Cameroon who they won. They made sure tue game was sealed as they went ahead to win the game with clean sheets.

Anybody also focused on Alex Iwobi? That man was the main link between the midfielder's and attackers.

For Victor Oshime, his next club immediately he leaves Napoli would benefit from him alot, he offered more than the role of a central forward for Nigeria anyways. He was indeed a hunter and warrior tracking those balls for Nigeria last night. Great night for the lads you get me? Lol.

Normally that's how it supposed to be but the group stage performance of super eagle is very bad and that's why everyone lost confidence in the team. With that yesterday's performance they've revive the hopes of Nigerians the support was very massive from both at home and outside. When you play well, even if you lose the game people will still praise and wish you good luck, that was what happened yesterday. The best decision that yesterday was the man of the match given to Lookman. His sublime style of play is A1. He deserve the Man of the Match simply not because of the brace, but because of his selfless contributions in the each game he has played from the group stage. I personally see it as a reward for his past services and sacrifices. All of them really did a good job and we expect more in the next game. Iwobi? He needs to step up on his game because he's not giving us his best like he used to.

Just setting up to watch Egypt vs Congo in the AFCON. Kick off in just over an hour. As a Liverpool fan, I really should want Egypt to get knocked out so Salah doesn’t try to rush to recover from injury and get back to AFCON.

I can’t help wanting Egypt to win though, I want Mo to be happy so yeah, come on Egypt.

If you've ever played local Competitions almost like the African Cup of Nations Competitions in your local community or neighborhood, you'll know that as the game goes on, the jungle gets matured. It's same with Nigeria, game after game they have really seen improvements and there's got to be light at the end of the tunnel with this performance.

Yeah, Lookman did play well. The only name I can call that didn't do well was Simon Moses and he wasn't even substituted by the coach.
For Iwobi, then I'll say I agree with you. He did well though, I'd rate his game a eight over ten performance honestly. Top lads.

Nwabali is not looking to me like a very good keeper but then he's a preferred choice than uzoho ,
In my estimation, it is not about who is a good keeper in your opinion, it is about who gets the job done. And from what we have seen in the last few games, Nwabali has been doing a fantastic and getting the job done. Hopefully, Uzoho gets his chance to prove himself in their next game should Nwabali not recover from his injury. Personally, if it were in my powers, I would love to watch Uzoho in their next game, first to have a good comparison between him and Nwabali and second, it would be a good opportunity for Nwabali to have complete recovery for the finals assuming the Super Eagles team get there.

I still maintain my position that in as much as I want to be patriotic and share with my fellow Nigerians the joy they are having as a result of their win against Cameroon, I will not. The Super Eagles will break your heart if you let your guard down. I prefer to have zero expectations of the team that is how I maintain my sanity. I have cried once many years ago during a competition like this after a loss, I will not do that again  Grin.

That is another interesting much that many people are looking up to the outcome tonight. Just like expected, Egypt is not finding it easy with DR Congo who first scored them before Mohamed Mostafa equalized through penalty.

There is huge expectations from the Liverpool key player, Mo Salah and I hope he lived up to expectations tonight as Amy mistake will send them home. This edition of the AFCON tournament has proven to be unique in the sense that there is no known big team whose matches can be easily predicted.  The surprises unfolding per match are mind boggling.

The surprises are so terrific as we never saw it coming in this way that the AFCON competition will be so hard to predict a particular team to win in each game. Previous AFCON competition's a game like Egypt playing against Dr Congo many bettors would have confidently given Egypt a straight win but in this current AFCON the surprises are so shocking that you don't know Which team to depend on strongly.
Am fascinated about this Egypt vs Dr Congo match as both teams are playing on equal strength no domination, even individual players like Sallah isn't given that chance of creating too much impact. I am believing that the game is unavoidably heading to an extra half and if it ends in penalty shoot out Congo will win.

It's still 1:1 in the CAF African Cup Of Nations game between Egypt and DR Congo. Like you rightly said, this game in paper would definitely be easily given to the Egyptian side but the Congolese guys are doing everything possible to make sure they reach the last eight of the competition. Egypt is without their captain Mohammed Salah who I think would've made the difference tonight if he was fit for the but unfortunately for them, Salah isn't just out of the tournament but will take more weeks to return to full action with his club Liverpool.

The normal 90 minutes has relapsed and the extra time if the game is about to start

In last few years, we are having one of the best team for the Nigeria which is having perfect package for me because their attack and defense having good depth which is important for the win in big events and their performance in this last game was at the top which is surely giving all the best for the coming matches. Lookman and Victor Osimhen both were doing their best job which allow them to have perfect win in this important match and now with this they are into last eight of the cup.

Now the best thing happening after few years peoples are talking about them, and they are surely had the best things which are needed by quality team to stay into hunt for the title with this performance now few weak points could be gone under shadow, but they need to act better and have things on well-balanced side because any mistake can make life difficult for them.
Well this Nigeria team happens to be the most valuable at this AFCON this time around and also happens to be one of our very best in a long while. The attack and defense are well organized and evenly well packed with enough quality and the midfield isn’t lacking. Well I think with this squad, the super Eagles are good to go especially with the display against Cameroon. These players are playoffs for top clubs in Europe and as much can give top performance here in AFCON except they’re fatigued, which I don’t think they’re at the moment

Chasing for the title, they’re through to the last 8 and the competition seems to be getting very fierce now but the Super Eagles need to stand tall and strong and depict the strength of an eagle so as to challenge for the title and they could get it if they’re dedicated and serious.

Funny enough, Egypt have been the most unsuccessful team in this AFCON. Since the beginning, it has been from one draw to the other and finally, they had to bow out yesterday when they lost on penalties. Maybe Coach Rui Vitoria will be the next guy kissing his job goodbye. Honestly, teams you'd expect to nail the game are the ones struggling because I'd you check it, Dr Congo are no match for them but if you watched the game you'd see that the pharaohs were playing as if they were intimidated, even the penalty they managed to secure was not gotten fairly. How it got to this level I still don't know. So far, the only big names in this tournament are Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa, Ivory coast are just a shadow of themselves.
At least Mo Salah can go back to England and rest, there was really nothing he could have done even if he played because their opponents they met in the various stages were literally out and ready for them. Let's see if he can salvage something for himself at Liverpool when he gets back from injury.

AFCON comes with surprising results these days. I never expected the Democratic Republic of the Congo to knock Egypt out yesterday because I expected Egypt to be very productive after going three matches without a win. They drew all their three group stage matches, and they also drew yesterday, and they are unlucky to be kicked out in a penalty. It was touching for them because they played without their main man, Mohammad Sallah. Even though Mohammad Elneny and other good players tried their best, they were kicked out in a penalty shootout.

Yesterday, Equatorial Guinea was knocked out unexpectedly by Guinea after losing a penalty in the match. They were dominating the game with a good performance and hope of qualifying because they are one of the best teams in the tournament, but surprising enough, they were knocked out with a 90+ minute goal, which completely destroyed them, and they cried in the end.

I don't know if is normal for coaches to blame the failure of their team on inexperience or they're just using that as an excuse to save their job and not taking the blame for their fall. We saw the Egypt who everyone thought they're going to qualify into the next round lost to Dr Congo and with time you'd hear the coach of the Egyptian saying that is inexperience that made them lost the game (just as the Cameroon coach is saying) but to me is never inexperience but change, is like the Egyptians are lacking quality players, with time they'd come back stronger but they need to rebuild the team, like who's Dr. Congo where we have Egypt?
The thing is those smaller countries that are in the AFCON to complete the number of participants have stepped up to challenge for the title.
Let's watch out for those countries that are never the favorite in this competition to win this tournament because if you have been following this AFCON you'd see that countries like Dr. Congo, Cape Verde, Mauritania and Mali too has gotten up to be contenders.
Teams that I'm expecting in the Semi finals are Cape Verde, Dr Congo, Nigeria and Senegal.

Senegalese National Football Team I'm worried about, I have seen more than a game but these players are not joking not even playing with themselves. Seem like they want to behave like Real Madrid for a back to back trophy. That could be possible because they're playing impressively. Sadio Mane also has a good impact in the African Cup of Nations Competitions so far moving to Saudi Arabian League hasn't reduced his game and pace in anyway possible.

Nigerians are now backing the squad and if they can do same against thee next siide they're playing. Cape Verde and Dr Congo are pushing hard. I think Dr Congo needs the trophy, they're bleeding at home as most of them families are being dehomed so European Non government organization could drill and steal Natural Resources. SMH. They deserve a win to keep themselves stronger.

Normally that's how it supposed to be but the group stage performance of super eagle is very bad and that's why everyone lost confidence in the team.
Super eagles struggle to win most of their matches in the group stage, seriously I never expected the super eagles to qualify for the round 16 because of their performance, but they managed to qualify, but I notice a great improvement in their round 16 match, I was surprised that Nigeria were able to score 2 goals, even after the super eagles scored their first goal, I was still expecting Cameroon to equalize, i was thinking they will end the match as draw, but to my greatest surprise, they scored another goal. Let’s see how the super eagles will play in the quarter final, but am expecting a win from them in the match.

I agree with you because the way the Senegalese play last Nations Cup is even more impressive this year like they added more fire power and is like they're improving in every game they play, always going for the main prize without underrating their opponent. They have been lacking behind some years back and now they're a nightmare for those countries who easily beat them back then.
Honestly I don't think the Saudi league is good for the man Sadio Mane because he doesn't look like someone who's their for the money on like Mahrez who look fat like he's on vacation. Mane is still fit and I feel he might grab something in this competition like the best player or even the title.

Quote
Nigerians are now backing the squad and if they can do same against thee next siide they're playing. Cape Verde and Dr Congo are pushing hard. I think Dr Congo needs the trophy, they're bleeding at home as most of them families are being dehomed so European Non government organization could drill and steal Natural Resources. SMH. They deserve a win to keep themselves stronger.

Let's forget about the Eagles because if we keep talking about them like showering praises on them I think they might flop on their next game.
And if you're saying that the Dr. Congo need the trophy because of what's going on in their country then I think they shouldn't struggle any more, CAF should just hand them the trophy as compensation. Nigeria and some other Africa countries have their own higher problem (not that I'm happy about the problems they're passing through, hope you get what I mean) but this is football and I think for them to get the trophy they need to get to the finals first which is not going to be easy because we have some other countries who are hungry for the title.

I am also looking forward to this match and I see Egypt as the most favourite to make it to the quarterfinals of the competition. Egypt can still perform well without Salah and I hope they can prove that to the world that Salah is not their only hope in this competition. Salah who still has chance to play in this competition, maybe in their next match will be happy to see his team triumph to the quarterfinals of the competition. His rerun will boost the team morale in the next stage of the competition which is more important. Tonight, we will see the better team amongst this two teams after three draws from both teams in the group stage of the competition.

It’s not surprising that we saw a draw in regular time and extra time - I foresaw this  Grin An interesting series of penalties (18 attempts), but unfortunately Congo is in the 1/4. I have nothing against them, but their performance is low and they ended up in the quarterfinals after 4 draws. Taking into account the fact that they will play with Guinea, which also has terrible results, the likelihood of a draw (even zero) is very high.

Why are you comparing Nwabali and Uzoho in the first place? Handicapped Nwabali is far better than Uzoho even when he's fully fit. If you watch Uzoho in the post and seeing the kind of cheap balls that passes him you'll prefer to have empty post than to put him in the goal post. Unless the defenders are ready to do the major work to prevent ball reaching him else, even if Nigeria wins the match, they will definitely not keep a clean sheet because Uzoho must concede goals. Just like David said, the look doesn't matter as long as he can do the task and that's Nwabali for you. I just wish he can fully recover before super eagle next game but I doubt the possibility.

It's not possible to have zero expectations, it's either you expect them to win or lose. I was surprised to see how everyone was celebrating the win against Cameroon despite everyone saying they are not interested in the team and whatever happens is fine. We all love the country but we are pretending. I personally don't have faith in the super eagle especially during the group stage and before their game against Cameroon but everything changed after that match. I understand your point thou considering how unreliable they are but I still trust them to do wonders against Angola in the next match.
