That said, the price of 65 XPM per GPU seems a bit much. Even if the software could deliver on the promised performance (which would mean around 19 XPM per day on a 280X), we're talking about a current price of $50 per GPU.

If it becomes $50 in average during a month then we could say that the miners will also be compensated really well.
At the current rate it is something about 10 days of mining. OK, 12-15 days including electricity cost.
The proposed number of licenses during 30 days can increase difficulty by 30-40%. (This is the difference between our situation and others - they did not limit the difficulty.)
Of course some unpredictable disaster can happens (like a collapse of bitcoin or so) but from the other side there is probability of XPM strengthening due to GPU mining.

So we believe that in average it will be just profitable for both devs and GPU miners.

I don't know anything about xpm  and I don't think to have seen the answer on this thread.
Therefore I will ask a very stupid question: how long does it take to get 65xpm with a gpu ?

I wouldn't mind to give a %tage as it is done for protoshare gpuminer (and I don't think that I have ever run 10 days on the same coin so far)
Basically you sell 1000 licences which means the difficulty will increase and those ten days could be also more.
Then comes may (1 month from now) when you sell another batch of 1000 licences which will increase even more the
difficulty. Basically, in the best estimate I make a profit for 20 15days... right... (no no wait the price of the coin will increase... yeah sure... )

Sorry but running an asic on a crappy scrypt coin sound much more interesting than your plan...

taxes in France represent in general 1 month of salary (you are more expensive than the tax of a country which has the highest level of taxation in the world)

4 280's and a dual core intel (not expensive).  Overall run-time is more of a guess had some trouble with os and a storm.  Run time somewhere between 16-24 hours.  I will try to get you better figures next report.

No way. I think 70% workers on ypool are from botnets. If I were to run a botnet, I would plant pool miners than solo miners, and since beeeer punishes botnets, I'd run them on ypool.

I think you guys are ass   for charging in this way. Your fending off natural progression, basically trying to prevent the inevitable. That is STUPID. We already have a bunch of idiots trying that, the are called the US government, and they are failing miserably. We use 3rd party copy-protection software. Not sure if it's better or worse than Microsoft's and Adobe's.

There are plenty of people capable of cracking CPU code but almost none capable of disassembling and patching GPU kernels. Also you may take a look at eldentyrell's or my own way of splitting mining profits.

this is the first miner that's pretty sensitive to temperature.

i don't exactly cool my gpus, and if it goes over 80c, the time will go up, and will affect the whole rig, not only one card.

One quick question. Instead of a lincese fee, why don't you open a pool and make mining there mandatory, you can then collect a percentage of the overall mined coins. Seems fairer and also easier to control for me.

1) One pool controlling 90%+ of the "hash" power is very bad for the coin. This was the biggest concern.
2) We wouldn't be able to prove that we're getting 5% or 10% for ourselves and not 30%-50%.
3) It's much harder to code and to maintain. It would have probably took us additional month or two before release. With the price of XPM declining so fast it was very risky.
4) We would've needed to get rid of the encapsulation of the miner into the server and an open-source client and put everything into signle closed-soruce executable. As a result - more "fishing alerts" from botnet owners.
