741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 16, 2023, 11:33:46 AM
I've seen several threads where people preach teaching bitcoin to kids and I've also seen threads where others talked about having  some savings(investments) in bitcoin  for their kids which is right.

Just as my topic reads, we should stop stressing  kids with wanting them do things we didn't meet up doing and at some points getting them mentally stressed.

Please don't get me wrong because I'm typically  not against teaching  or maybe introducing bitcoin  to your kids but I'm  on the opinion  that rather than bother them with this complicated digital asset (bitcoin) knowing fully well that no matter how much knowledge  we have about it, if we don't have the money to buy, then we'll  certainly  miss out, and judging from this, I don't think it's wise teaching them or wanting to force it on them when we know that they can't afford it.

I will suggest that, rather than bore them with the history of bitcoin,  why not get a portfolio for them and keep investing in it and watch it grow with them and when they're of age, then you can practically  show them the needful.

I want to know if there are people who also share same opinion with me and please lets just discuss rather than argue

I'm confused, I don't know if you disagree or the other way around.

Teaching kids about bitcoin doesn't literally mean that we have to buy them Bitcoin for them to fully understand. Introducing is just a phase, of course we're not forcing anything if don't really wanted Bitcoin in the first place, because even as a parent, we have no rights to dictate them what they should do, it's their life, let the kids enjoy their childhood and let them choose what they wanted to be when they reached the right age to decide about their future.
742  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your personal debt reduction method aside the debt snowball method? on: June 16, 2023, 05:06:15 AM
Here in my country, we don't usually take a loan from a bank but borrowing from someone we know instead to avoid any interest. I believe the snowball method is the most effective one here rather than not paying at all in the certain date you promised to return all the money, or the worst case scenario that could happen is you won't pay the money you borrowed at all because you have no shame since it's either your friend or a relative, and that's how you make enemies.
743  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the government can really make a way to end poverty or it depends on us? on: June 16, 2023, 04:15:07 AM
In my country i observed so many people doing rally and blame the government why the basic needs price rise and the salary is still very low and not enough for daily expenses, is this the effect of the Ukraine and russia war that makes the gas or crude oil so high at price and they pass the gas expenses to the product and it ends to very high price of the basic needs that make us very poor, I see government has a move to resolve the problem but many people are still blaming the government.

You can't blame those people, because those politicians did a promise to them but most of time are always been neglected if they are already seated. Government is the one who should act first whenever there's a crisis going on to their country, if they really care, because people doesn't have the power to move their country, only the government does. Though, what's always happening is that the government wants are always the priority, so the country always end up suffering from their lack of proper governance and doing their job.
744  Economy / Economics / Re: The cost of living is trying to kill the living on: June 15, 2023, 02:02:50 PM
~snip~

Everybody must learn to cut their cost of living by all means. Learning addition skills and securing extra jobs might be another means of overcoming this hard life. The government must also make policies that will help alleviate the suffering of the masses.

This is not applicable for everyone, you know that. We all have different privilege in life, most of us doesn't even have the skills to have extra jobs because of their current life situation or their health. Funny thing about the government is they just don't really care if there are people suffering in their country, what they care the most is the money they can get while they are sitting in their position as a politician.
745  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 15, 2023, 12:54:27 PM
I have been debating about it with couple of my colleagues whether stay on rent or buy a property.

Let's assume, you are well capable enough to buy a new property through bank loan. Your income supports the mortgage payment so banks are willing to lend you money.

What will be the best route to take? Buy the property or stay in a rented place?

The usual appreciation rate of your property value is around 10% owing to the development work that are ongoing. For rented property, your rent increases by 15% every year.

What's the better option for you and why?

Why buy a house using bank loan? I'd rather pay it cash to save money as much as possible.

Having your own place is much cheaper in the long run, no hassle, and you can sleep peacefully at night knowing you don't need to pay rent anymore. Renting is also good if you're still saving some money to buy your own house in the future, but in the long run, I don't think it is a good idea especially if you're not that rich kind of person.

That's only my opinion based on my experience here in our country, I guess the choices would still depends on which country you are from.
746  Economy / Economics / Re: Is poverty a lack of money? on: June 15, 2023, 12:11:59 PM
I see poverty as the inability to provide what you need. So when people assume that poverty is when you don't have money I don't agree. Now what if you have all you need and you don't require money to buy anything, are you poor? Some people live in communities where everyone lives agrarian life. They have all they need because everything they need to survive is available. Food is on the farm, water available and everybody is happy. Although it was hard during the Covid-19 lockdown many people lived without money. I have also seen many people leaving cities and moving to rural areas to live a natural life.

In summary when you have everything you need to survive and you don't need money, are you poor?

I disagree with you.

Even if you have food because you have a farm, you can't deny the fact that you still need money for your other needs, like paying your electric bills, water bills, tuitions of your kids, and other services that requires money as a payment. Money is the biggest role player in our everyday lives, especially in urban areas, if you don't have enough money to sustain your needs, yes, you are poor, simple as that.
747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you guilty of promising not to gamble for specific days but back next day on: June 14, 2023, 03:55:18 PM
I did it many times back when my addiction is very high, I promise not to gamble after I lose a big amount I even swear that I will not, but the following day I'm back even promising to be better and not lose a big amount again.

How many of us are guilty of this?

I think there are many gamblers who are very much guilty about this especially if they are quite near into addiction, recognizes it, and wants to change for the better. However, sometimes people fall short despite the efforts and the willingness. So they get back in their old gambling habits after saying they won't be back to heal and change themselves. Some even experience relapse which is a serious matter for those who want to stop gambling for good. Leaving gambling behind is possible if there is enough determination and discipline involved. But of course, this won't be enough especially if you already have dependency and strong craving to gamble. Professional help and intervention is needed in order to totally quit and start anew.
748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: June 14, 2023, 03:01:14 PM
The age limit placed on people below 18 year to keep them away frim gambling have not been most effective as we have hard records of under age gambling in many place and this is a pointer that casino has indeed misolaced their primary responsibility which is to prevent that from happening and that is why there is need for KYC.
Casinos have provided regulations by not allowing underage children to gamble. And even though casinos have implemented KYC for their members, that can't stop minors from registering and gambling. They can do KYC using the identity of adults around them, which helps them gamble. Perhaps, this can be reduced if each parent pays more attention to supervising their children using devices connected to the internet so that their children do not visit casinos.

This is really a matter of discipline and communication inside the household.

If the parents are hands on on their child and provides all the basic necessities, educates their child about the consequences of doing impulsive, illegal, and risky decisions in life, then there's a small chance that these kids will be inside a casino establishment or website given that the values, principles, and the upbringing they were exposed into has a positive and strong foundation about doing good things, obedience, and not being involved in things that will not be beneficial and is prohibited to them.

It all really boils down the measures the parents do for their child not to be lost and to the child himself, the willingness of following his parents as his role model, not giving into the curiosity and peer pressure, if there is any.
749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: June 14, 2023, 10:16:31 AM
This is so on point.

Short hut precise way on how to breathe and how to check yourself whether if you are still capable or not to gamble. As a player, it is your responsibility to check on yourself because no one else would other than you. You should always assess whether you have enough budget allocation for the important things before allotting a portion in gambling. Otherwise, you'll end up messing your finances.

A player must also take a break and check if his mental capacity is enough to take another play and bet. Because if you will bet or play with a tired mind that can't think properly, it will be a recipe for disaster. You don't want to regret big time later on because of this. The same way with involving illegal drugs and liquors because it can affect your way of thinking and of course, the decision making skills that you have.
750  Economy / Gambling / Re: No bet is a waste on: June 14, 2023, 08:32:18 AM
The more we gamble the more we are learning from what we do and from others people's experience in addition to that, asise the fun we have while gambling, there are other emotional and psychological benefits we get from using an online casinos when gambling, there are other benefits we stand to gain whenever we gamble such as getting new ideas, informations, skills and technical experience in doing things a logical way.

Agree with this.

Over time, we learn different things base from our very own experiences or from others. We might also learn a thing or two from the information provided all over the Internet. If we happen to have failed bets, it's not totally useless especially if you did your best in having a strategy to play or if you poured your heart out for doing a research for sportsbetting. It will teach you a lesson even if it won't give you money for losing so. With that, you can equip yourself with more knowledge and confidence the next time you bet and play. But of course, it should still be done with caution and moderation.
751  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: June 14, 2023, 07:52:34 AM

Our money used in gambling also serves as an indication to how serious and determined we are in betting, what would have been used for gambling if betting is not involved, as then there's nothing to gamble about, we can also give some attempts in trying to play around on the casinos or engage on some sort of free gambling attempts through the bonuses we received but yet we still work to earn those opportunities to be given bonus because you can't just spend nothing and expect gambling to take place, it must cost you to show how determined and committed you're.
As for me, for me, playing without money just for fun is somehow not at all so interesting and not so reckless.  Indeed, when you have something to lose, and this is money that you generally earn with difficulty, then of course it’s a pity to lose them.  This definitely makes us much more pragmatic and responsible in gambling.  And this automatically puts such a game itself, as it were, on a different level compared to a game that can be called a game of interest, that is, without losing your money.  For me, only such gambling is real, and not some kind of artificial fake.
Moreover, all the games that can be called as games just for fun seem to me to be some kind of childish fun.  Of course, they can be fun and interesting, but they still do not hurt our feelings and our passion for gambling.

You can't really call it gambling unless there's money or other assets involved. It's just mere playing and having fun if you were to play without involving anything to stake.if you have nothing to win and nothing to lose, then it's not gambling. Since gambling involves taking risks, winning, and/or losing.

To those gamblers who like to try the games by playing practice game of a casino game is a smart one for me and commendable because knowing the nature of the game, the possible risks, and how to strategize can give you a great edge in gambling. If that's what you are pertaining to, then it's not called gambling rather a practice game or merely passing time and relaxing without the need to think about connecting it with money matters. There are still people who do this out of curiousity, testing the waters, and entertainment.
752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Referral bonuses are waste of time on: June 13, 2023, 03:37:51 PM
Referral bonus isn't a waste of time. It's a powerful feature for gamblers who have influence inside a niche of society, like friends' group, family, internet circles, club, business or organization. These people are able to bring lots of users to the platforms they promote, consequently generating a very decent extra income from this activity.

On the other hand, if you spend a lot of time promoting your referral banners on social medias and see no positive results from that, then personally it must really be a waste of time...

I have the same sentiment as you.

Referral bonus isn't really pointless. In fact, you can earn big if you have a wide reach of audience when you do referral. For every person to use your code or to use your referral link, you will generate a percentage or a fixed amount to be given to you as a compensation for taking part in making the community grow. If you have many followers and you have established a good reputation in referring games to them that they could enjoy and perhaps earn a profit on the side, it will be easier for you to recruit and to encourage players. But of course, let them know all the possible consequences of gambling, not just the positive side of it to avoid high expectations that could lead to disappointment and even addiction in the long run. It will be a good thing if they are aware of all the potential benefits and the harm it may pose to them once they enter the gambling industry. Promoting gambling sites can be a win-win in three-way street (to the casino, to you, and to the potential player) if you will just be honest about it.
753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 13, 2023, 12:45:56 PM
People still gamble because they want to and they can.

Gambling has earned negative connotation over the years. Even way back, gambling is considered as a bad habit because most people don't see the sense of gambling and how it will add value to someone's life. Hence, they label it a bad thing. I can't really blame them from doing so, because I also agree that gambling could bring hell to you if you aren't careful. It might bring harm than good especially if you lack self-discipline, gamble can ruin someone's life. But this all boils down on how a person will utilize gambling to his own advantage and how he will built his gambling habits that could either make or break him.

If a person know his limitations in gambling, there's a small percentage that he will be lost and be addicted. But if it is the other way around, then it should be expected that gambling can potentially bring harm such as losing funds, being addicted, and even being buried with piles of debt because of the uncontrolled urge of gambling. As long as a person is responsible of his actions, is aware of the consequences, and is ready to be accountable of whatever the result of his decision, then we must let them be. After all, these gamblers are already adult that knows how to discern which will be good or bad for them.
754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: June 13, 2023, 11:54:46 AM
Reading another post, it crossed my mind that AIs and particularly ChatGPT could potentially be trained with a large samples of games played by poker champions and then put it to auto-play with amateur on-line players. If this is successful, it could mean the end of human on-line poker playing except perhaps for the world masters and the like. Has anyone tried? Would it be possible??
Chat GPT can make your life a lot easier. By using this chat gpt we can know many unknown information. But here this chat gpt can give information about all your work activities but i think this chat gpt can never predict. If it was then people would have predicted everything through this chat gpt. For example, if Chat GPT could predict the UEFA Champions League final match, people would gamble on predictions from here. So this prediction chat gpt will never make and online casino platform for this chat gpt will never be destroyed.
If Chat GPT is asked for anything in advance, it shows that it will not able to do that and from this we understand that Chat GPT can never tell what will happen in the future. Moreover we also know the fact that it provides various information based on the input text only. So naturally we can say that Chat GPT can not give any kind of information and can not make any gambling predictions. Some gamblers think about gambling based on other people's information when they can't make a decision after researching various things to win at gambling. Based on that thinking, if one seeks help from Chat GPT, he will have no certainty of winning at gambling, even if he is a bit ahead for analysis. No matter how great the invention is in the world but it is impossible to predict the future.

I agree with this.

Currently, Chatgpt doesn't have the ability to predict outcomes. It can only give the necessary information that you asked it to, but not the result of the approaching or on-going game. This is because it doesn't have the feature yet to give the results since it is only fed by data from certain years and isn't very much updated from the current and relevant events that could impact the game. Hence, if you ask it, it will not give you the answer you are expecting. And probably in the future, it will take time for it to happen. Maybe it could be upgraded and give you the percentage of win and lose, but I think in the next five years, it still can't predict the match results just yet. We can only hope for the best and be positive about it if you are that person that heavily relies on AI. But as for me, I'd rather use it as a complimentary source of info rather depending on it as a whole.
755  Economy / Gambling / Re: How does AI gambling sound? on: June 13, 2023, 11:11:35 AM
This seems like an NFT game for me which is also a form of betting I suppose since it involves money and risk.

Before, I knew a game that sounds like this one. The players are the ones to upgrade and "fine-tune" the horses and the player whose horse who will win will of course, have the winning prize to enjoy for himself. But the thing is, it is done in a gaming mode that isn't nowhere near being realistic where you might mistake it from playing sportsbetting through real horses and real environment. It might be a good idea to adapt this one since it doesn't directly involves animals that might be hurt in the process of the game, rather an AI only that you could tweak into your liking and to reach your goal of winning.
756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Easy or hard to quit? on: June 12, 2023, 03:28:37 PM
Can you quit gambling if you make a life changing money and never go back to gambling?

I asked this because those who made some money through gambling near me always go back to gamble and they end up losing everything they once made through gambling.

Is it fine to say that people should not go back into gambling once they made high amount of money? Because the chance of losing that money again is very high, even if they don't use all the money to gamble at once, gambling can take it all back in time.

Have you ever won a high amount of money from gambling and managed to not lose them all back to gambling? And to date, you are still gambling?
Ohh yes, I've been an addict before and I've experienced a downfall. Now I can consider myself as a normal gambler that can control myself and is pretty organized in using my funds. I follow my budget strictly and I can stop playing anytime I want now, in-short, I'm not an addict anymore. If I won money that can change my life and could possibly make me comfortable for the rest of my life, I would probably stop doing gambling since I've been doing it for years now and there are games that I like so much before that it makes me boring now.

There will be people who won't or can't quit gambling since they haven't experienced it to the fullest but me, I've already been there and I don't want to waste the chance of quitting.

This is such a good read. I'm so glad that you were able to surpass that challenging part of your life because being addicted in gambling and in any other thing is tough. This is because you will be dependent on it and instead of you controlling your urge to gamble, it will be the other way around. Which could result to a bad outcome that could eventually harm you in the long run. It's not really a good thing to be addicted in gambling because it could exhaust you your time and resources. It's a good thing that you managed to recover from your gambling addiction since it is a serious matter that needs to be addressed.

Hopefully, you won't stumble again in the future. And I really do hope that you will be able to continue that good gambling habit of yours which includes budgeting strictly and being organized in your finances because that could help you so much in refraining to be addicted again.
757  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A opinion on regrets on: June 10, 2023, 01:01:40 PM
the regret of losing bitcoin and ethereum should not have to happen, considering we only have enough to hold them. but losing to PEPE, shiba, doge, I think we have to realize that this is a meme coin, and it requires a lucky hand, because not everyone can analyze it. especially if we buy it when fomo occurs, even though we are already profitable, many events still hold it because of greed, that is what causes us to lose. many people talk about regret when the coin pump meme happened, most of them don't know when to let go, because they are filled with greed, and put aside the knowledge that at any time a deep crash can occur

Comparing our achievements to others is what makes us regret our decisions even more. We must understand that we have our own timeline and we don't have to race with each other. Not because you've seen someone posted on his social media about getting rich with a meme coin doesn't mean we can also make the same fortune if we invested our money in a meme coin.

What I'm trying to point out is that the more we crave for other's success, the more we suffocate ourselves on making our own path and fortune, therefore we will live trying to copy other's footsteps to success rather than making our own original way on making ourselves successful like them.
758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The role of Bitcoin in eliminating unemployment in our country on: June 10, 2023, 11:08:29 AM
How much role does bitcoin play for the current young generation? I think most of us who are involved with Bitcoin today are the current young generation using Bitcoin. There are many people who are working on Bitcoin besides studying. By doing this, their time is being spent through work and they are also able to earn some money through Bitcoin. By doing this, they are able to support their own expenses and financially support their family. I think when this Bitcoin was not in circulation in my country many people are almost suffering from unemployment problem. The current people who have chosen bitcoin as a profession are not only able to help their families financially but also support our country economically through this young generation bitcoin. I think the government of our country should support Bitcoin. What is your opinion on this?

That was my setup way back when I was still in college, I'm supporting my own through the help of Bitcoin, and it was good since I can buy whatever I wanted and needed. Bitcoin introduced me to a lot of opportunities that couldn't be attain when being employed, since you can earn so much in cryptocurrency based on how good you are compare to working in a company in which you're not getting any benefits aside from working 8 hours a day, which is very tiring for me.

I mean, freelancing is a lot more easier, we can't deny that and the salary or profits is really good if you're passionate on what you're doing.
759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bankroll management discussion on: June 10, 2023, 09:33:04 AM
Are using a fixed percentage on your bets or you are just betting random amount?
I don't really play much casino games but I usually go for fixed amount. I choose low risk most often since my main objective is to get entertained. Feels good if I end up winning but still fine when not. There are times when I deviate and increase when my time alloted for gambling is almost up.

Quote
Also do you deposit your total bankroll and just withdraw if you are on target profit or stop loss or you are just depositing exact amount of money for your gambling without extra.
Whatever I decided as excess amount for the week or month that I can use for gaming or gambling is what I deposit. No fixed amount.

This is a good financial strategy when it comes to gambling. Having limitations will prevent you from overspending and from developing unhealthy gambling habits. If you will just allot what's left and just an extra amount of your budget, then you will have no problem about your finances because you will not spend more than what you can afford. Gambling for entertainment surely is nice if you won't be stressed out and burdened by financial matters because of lack of discipline.
760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how to get over it on: June 09, 2023, 01:30:33 PM
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. This is the reality in gambling. There's no such thing such as winning everyday. You'll experience losses, disappointments, and regrets. Like I always say, it's not just sunshine and rainbows. There are also storms in gambling. If you are not prepared for it, then don't gamble at all.

We always have to put limitations whenever we want to risk something. If you want to gamble, you have to set healthy boundaries that you will have to follow for your own sake. Otherwise, you'll end up losing your funds and losing yourself in the process. Greed and ambition should be limited to an extent that will not hurt you in the process. Because no matter how high the rewards will be, the risk will be as high too.
