Another disappointment I came across in today's matches between different players is the match between Tsitsipas and Humbert. From the first set onwards Humbert kept his dominance, and with the play Tsitsipas won the second set and it looked like he'll win the match, but Humbert took advance at the right time and won the match to reach the play against J.J Wolf.
Humbert is playing great lately and that was a great win over Tsitsipas who fought well in the last set, Humbert was 3-0 ahead and it went to 5-5 but obviously Humbert won. On Tsitsipas he recently sacked his coach and employed his Dad back again...which is still not working IMO. Other matches today: Marozsan has beaten Ruud earlier Korda is playing Cerúndolo Sinner will be up against Shelton - Sinner @ 1.28 - my only bet today, I would love to back up his tournament win last week with another... Hurkacz plays Zhang Ben Shelton won his match against Sinner in 3 sets. Last set ended with a tie-break and the American won 7:6(5). Shelton showed solid performance making Sinner the latest seeded victim in this tournament. Shelton will meet Sebastian Korda in the quarterfinal. Among top seeds only Alcaraz is kicking so far... EDIT: Actually Andrei Rublev (nr 5 seed) is still in the draw as well. I got to see the last set, a very close affair and indeed a solid performance by Shelton. Sinner made too many errors and Shelton just made less. Irs looking very good now for Alcaraz to win the title, he plays Dimitrov tomorrow in the second group of Round of 16. Rublev plays Paul tomorrow too, thats a tough one to call, Rublev favourite @ 1.5 !

So up until the recent HAMAS attack on Isreal the people of Gaza had very little anyway. Israel already is in control of everything that was being imported so they thought, they have been blockading Gaza since 2007.
So even though Israel has Air, Land and Sea control of Gaza the people there generally speaking were able to arm themselves with rockets and guns. Life will be certainly more difficult but the Palestinians are a tough and proud people.
As regards the border with Egypt, that is under blokade too, everything is controlled there too.

Well I'm not doing any parlay bets on these quarter finals, all the teams are capable of beating each other IMO. I thought the odds would be closer for the Wales v Argentina match, on ROLLBIT they are: 1.55 - 2.65, IMO Argentina have a closer chance than the odds predict so I'll take Argentina too. Ireland 1.68 v 3.48 New Zealand - Ireland of course for this one. England 1.33 v 3.60 Fiji - I'm not betting on this one, I have a feeling Fiji could do a bit of magic in this match but everything will have to work in their favour with a touch of luck too... France 1.77 - 2.20 South Africa - I think France will be victorious here especially if Dupont is cleared to play. He is in full training after breaking his cheekbone! https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/rugby/arid-41244478.html

Iga Swiatek has won the China Open 2023 title in Beijing! She eased past Ludmila Samsonova 6:2, 6:2. Iga made her bet on strong defensive play and it turned out successful as her opponent was making too many mistakes while trying to attack. Iga in turn made zero unforced error throughout the whole match! She deserves the win. After the Poland Open, this is the first time she had won the title. In most of the tournaments she used to reach atleast quarter finals and had been losing for a long. In the previous matches she used to fight top seeds and moves forward and finally used to disappoint losing against players that aren't expected to win. This time I had the feeling Samsonova would win the match and finally Iga Swiatek have won 6-2 6-2. Well done to Iga, she is always going to be a threat to any player, eventhough she loses to players she should be beating - kind of like Alcaraz sometimes. Over at Shanghai Sinner is through to the round of 16 and now plays Shelton and is obvious favourite to win that @ 1.27. Interestingly Alcaraz is in the mix too and plays Evans today. It would be interesting to see Sinner and Alcaraz meet again....

Welcome back darxiaomi, yes good win by Argentina, they have actually got stronger as their pool games progressed and they can beat Wales. I watched all of the Fiji v Portugal match, one of entertainment because of the great line breaks, power and Try scoring, and one of frustration because if all the handling errors. Well done to Portugal on their 1st world cup match win As for Fiji, I'm not sure they can beat England with a performance like that.
@Timelord2067 - whatever happens hold onto the wagers until the final or both our teams are out.

Argentina are into the semifinals with a convincing win over Japan. At half time Japan trailed by just one point, but in the second half Argentina slowly edged ahead and by the seventith minute had etched out a comfortable lead.
Final score Argentina 39 - Japan 27
Next up, Tonga and Romania face off in around two hours.
Tonga did the business against Georgia, I only saw the last 20 minutes of this one, thats when Tonga seemed to power ahead winning 45 - 24. Argentina v Japan - great match, Japan looked very strong in the first half but Argentina got stronger as the match went on. Both teams showed improved performances from their last matches. Argentina now play Wales in the quarter finals and have a real chance to go to the semis if they can improve further.
Just watching Fiji v Portugal in a very evenly matched game ... so far Half time 3-3

First off I am anti killing. Israel 🇮🇱 and Palestine 🇵🇸 seem to be in the first day of a war.
How will the rest of the world deal with yet another conflict.
Stack this in with Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Russia 🇷🇺 conflict.
What will we the rest of the world do with a new conflict?
How will we be affected?
I am wishing for peace ☮️ not violence.
But this may cause a lot of ripples for us all.
This is an ongoing war that just got intensified. Israel and Palestine were never at peace, and this kind of sporadic attack is not new. So, the world will not be affected in any way different from the status quo. I feel bad see that the world is heading in the direction of anarchy with wars springing up in different countries and none ending. Yeah my gut feeling is more and more of this will be occurring the next 10 years or so. It's kinda of why I pur it in economics as I feel trade will be more and more interrupted down the road. I am not sure if Saudi Arabia provides aid to Palestines or Russia but they used more than 1000 missiles or so the news claims. I have to feel this size of attack is 'new' so to speak. I agree that this is not a 'New' war, just a new phase in the same war. It will get some air time in the media but little will be done to try and resolve this ongoing issue. Israel has a lot of support from the US in particular and through Hamas it is the only way the Palestinians can try and fight for their rights but Hamas is widely condemned so there you go. What is astounding is the number of rockets which Hamas were able to acquire, fire and land into Israeli territory and from Gaza which is highly controlled by Israel. What is really sad and worrying is that Israel will retaliate with horrible devastation, which will lead to even more hostility... This is unfixable

Back to Sinner...
He is currently playing Baez and is behind in the first set 2-5. I expect him to win this and his odds are currently 1.42 v 2.55 for Baez, not a bad price for Sinner.
Earlier Korda beat Medvedev on two sets! Thats a dissapointing result from Medvedev to go out in the round of 32. Medvedev was 2nd seed and obviously wasnt mentally ready to progress further

3 matches yesterday went fairly well as expected....results wise. I watched this match and TBH the final score suggests a handy win for Wales but Georgia troubled them for a bit and with 60 minutes gone it was 24-19 but after thay Wales ran in 3 trys. Wales play either Argentina or Japan in the Quarter finals The scoreline says it all, England left it late to score their winning Try and conversion on the 76th minute. I didnt see this one but even if they had lost I think they would have claimed top spot. England play potentially Fiji if they beat Portugal today. As expected, eventhough there was a lot of talk that Scotland had a real chance of beating Ireland, Ireland won - comfortably. Ireland play New Zealand in the Quarter finals
Next up in about an hour Japan play Argentina in a pool D decider for second place. The odds are 5.2 for Japan to 1.21 for Argentina. Based on Argentinas performance so far I think Japan have a chance to win and 5.2 is a great price, they will have to lift their performance too though....

Ok so since I havent specified a closing date or that all 10 tickets be filled I think I can award the position to geo based on the fact that geo is the only one who is interested and that geo posted interest in the original thread but was too late. Not sure if still needed, but happy to participate if necessary. Looks like a fun project, not sure how I missed it originally? LMK.
Geo
Also owlcatz recommendation carries some weight for me ! and we do need to fill the position quickly. So as of now geophphreigh is awarded the spare position but to be fair I will leave this thread open for 12 hours from now for any objections. We can then move forward and update the original thread...

Nice one cygan.
Its always nice to read the updates of you ever expanding collection.
Those Kialaras are a very important part of any serious collection. Personally I dont have a serious collection and a Kialara would be part of my holy grail.
Thanks again for this thread

I think Sinner is one of only a few who is and possibly will be able to compete and win against Alcaraz. Going into the semi final their head to head was 3-3, obviously Jannik has taken the lead there. As for Medvedev I think for future meetings Jannik will be able to win again.
He definitely has more developing to do and actually looking back on the match Jannik was definitely more creative with his play. The future is definitely very interesting for him. It is really interesting that Sinner has managed to win so many times against Alcaraz. But only he knows the secret why. It was a great final against Medvedev. He deserved to win. This was the seventh time that the two met and now Sinner has won against him for the first time. Sinner is currently in a really good form right now. I personally believe that he will actually be able to give a good competition in this next tournament. He has a match against Giron up Next on October 7. And I actually do not have any doubt that he is going to perform really well in that match. He is really good against Alcaraz. Of course, maybe we will never know what is the secret behind that. or maybe we will actually be able to know when both of them retires or something like that. But there is definitely something for which he is able to perform so well against him. Sinner has still a lot of development to go. His journey in the last 2 years has been very good, he is hitting the ball harder, his service game is better and his creativity has increased. We have seen on many occasions where a player wins a tournament and the following week he is gone in the first few rounds. As fans of Jannik it would be great to see him build on last weeks performance.

New Zealand - over 79.5 @ 1.85 is a realistic bet I think!
Alternatively Uruguay under 79.5 @ 2.45?
Final score 73 - 0 I get the "over" but what does it mean "under" for Uruguay? I can never figure those bets out. (serious question) does that mean if they keep New Zealand to under a 79.5 leed you win a payout? Yes thats it! you are kind of betting on the losers but losing within a window of points. With the last play of the match NZ had an attacking move which almost resulted in another try, luckily Uruguay defended to the last second and won a penalty....phew.
Tomorrow, Italy and France... (look away, it's going to be painful)
I really hope Italy can put in a decent performance against France and get totally shell shocked like what happened against New Zealand and let 96 points pass them.
