We should start a drinking game for the amount of times these guys say, "troll", "shill", "FUD".

I'd last about 3 minutes....... Grin
802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal to Fork Mastercoin and Burn a portion of JR's immense stash. on: December 01, 2014, 07:45:49 PM
Large stakeholders can be both a blessing and a curse.
On the downside you have nervous investors who may be reluctant to invest because of the fear that a whale may dump his/her/its holdings and kill the price, and, of course, the vocal cries of 'unfair distribution' from the cheap seats.  Roll Eyes

On the upside: it's good to have large quantities of a currency in safe hands, providing you can trust the whales in question, and it is very useful to be able to rely on large holders to cover some of the development and marketing costs.

I think Nxt got lucky with its initial distro, we had 73 stakeholders, most of whom have supported Nxt development pretty well.
Many Nxt whales have remained anonymous, but I've never seen that as an issue.....we know how to find them, even if we have no clue of their IRL identities.

Here's another question then- if something like maidsafe choose not to move over to counterparty, could we still use Vennd to port the tokens over to Counterparty so we could more easily buy/sell/whatever with them on counterparty, and then 'cashout' to move them back to mastercoin?

A gateway that allows to move between both protocols? This is interesting. Politics aside, like erasing JR's stash, I'm more interested in the technical side of things.

Because there is no fixed conversion rate of MSC/XCP and XCP/MSC, proxy tokens on each side would have to be created.

So how are tokens transfered between both protocols? I guess the easy way is to use a third party (e.g. Vennd) that has knowledge about both sides and acts as mediator, but I'm wondering, if there is an alternative without a centralized, single point of failure.

I'm just going to tiptoe into this topic and mention NXT a few times.......the above exchange scenario can be run effectively using Nxts Asset Exchange and/or MultiGateway. There will need to be some coding done to get MSC and XCP gateways up, but nothing major. Could be up and running before the end of the week, if you feel the need to rush.

Nxt will release its Monetary System feature with the coming update, allowing you to issue custom made Nxt-backed currencies.
Of course, there is a natural desire for MSC to stay within the BTC eco-system, but take a good look at Nxt. It's in a strong position right now, and the underlying technology has proved to be rock-solid over the last year.

Did I mention that Nxt is committed to open-source principles ?
If MSC/Maidsafe/whoever decide to move over to the Nxt blockchain, they are completely free to do so.
No need to ask permission from anyone, just do it. The Nxt community will be happy to provide support.

gains slid from over 112% to 50% intraday but still very good and holding

sell off has started.. but due to supernet and possibility of DRM I am holding steady

also there is nothing more important than content.. hold that in mind
as we move forward in time coinmarketcap stops taking into chart information from over 24 hours ago.. Sell hasn't started, we are still above strong support and still above the high of the previous run up to 5500sats or something.. This is just a regular correction.. I get the fealing there is another run up tonight and who knows what will happen when the road map is released.. So it ain't over I don't think..

Use the full view on CMC:
http://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/
Gives a much better feel for how a currency is performing in the market.

I'm pretty sure that Opal will be climbing for a while yet....

I'm gonna stick my nose in here and make a little point about forum community relations and FUD:

If someone asks a question (or 10 questions) , then the best thing to do is just to give a straightforward answer BEFORE you start hassling the questioner and shouting FUD.
With L&F, for example, he might be too lazy to read the whole thread but providing him a good answer won't cost anything but time.
Never forget, by the way,  that a lot of people just lurk and read rather than posting on the forum, so a good answer to one guy may be read by many others........

Don't start screaming FUD until it really is FUD, nasty questions don't count. If you can't answer the nasty questions.......u have a problem.

(and this, btw, is one of the reasons BlockNet annoys the f*** out of me)
807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ryan Kennedy aka Moolah scammer can be met in London tomorrow on: November 29, 2014, 05:48:24 PM
This reddit poster seems to have attended the court.

http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/2noucz/moolah_in_court_day_zero_kennedy_ordered_to_pay/

Here's his account of what happened.

This particular court date actually happened, because Ryan Kennedy demanded that SYSCoin put forward £100,000 in securities to cover any potential legal costs suffered by Ryan Kennedy. This type of request also has the additional side-effect of prolonging a case, and adding to the legal fee's of a plaintiff (due to them needing to present an argument against paying such security costs etc). It was assumed that due to the large asking price, and the evidence against Kennedy requiring such securities, that he would be present in court.

Proceedings went as follows;

Court was presided over by His Honor, Judge Seymour.

Ryan Kennedy failed to attend this court date. Kennedy's solicitors were present.
The initial asking of £100,000 in securities was "laughed off" by His Honor, Judge Seymour.
It was confirmed that Kennedy's legal case was not prepared correctly; no agenda nor list of costs were offered to justify the asking of £100,000 in securities.
Kennedy has the right to request a 'fortification' hearing; requiring him to prepare all relevant paperwork and evidences of costs accruing £100,000 in securities.
Kennedy's solicitors instead suggested £13,000 in securities, which was again "laughable", and further rejected by His Honor, Judge Seymour.
Kennedy's solicitors continued to negotiate downwards; eventually settling on £4,000 in securities.
His Honor, Judge Seymour found this amount to be "overly generous" to Kennedy, and instead lowered the required securities to £2,000.
His Honor, Judge Seymour stated that if Kennedy maintains possession of the 750 BTC, that he is required to pay these to SYSCoin by close of business, today.
In the case where Kennedy does not pay the aforementioned 750BTC, the case will proceed as planned
.

Looks to me like Judge S. has a pretty good grip on this.......
808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: November 27, 2014, 09:52:54 PM
Forever, in my experience.
Really, keeping the BTC blockchain up-to-date is a complete bastard.
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lol @ Decentralization on: November 27, 2014, 07:17:22 PM
NXT is still solidly committed to the ol' decentralisation and open sourcey-ness, so there are still alternatives.........
810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] The Nxt Technology Tree - Nxt Development Roadmap on: November 26, 2014, 09:50:47 PM
Make the code partially opensourced. You'll achieve a lots of transparency in suggesting and applying changes. Next code still has too much redundant staff.

Nxt has been OS since March of this year......with the exception of development code.  Grin

811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof that Ripple numbers are manipulated by Coinmarketcap, there is no boom! on: November 25, 2014, 07:44:48 PM
Not really sure that Gliss is co-operating with the Ripple crew.......I've hassled some Rippleheads about this and they claim that the sudden appearance of masses of new XRP on the market is totally legit and has something to do with locked-up XRP being released for projects.
I think.......I was LOLing a lot at the time. They also claimed that Ripples habit of suddenly increasing the market cap has absolutely nothing to do with, for example, the chance that BitsharesX would take the #2 spot.

Talking of Bitshares....anyone notice how someone found an extra 500 million BTSX recently?

I've never made a dime for posting anything.   And I've never seen evidence that people were being paid to be negative towards XC

Yep.....I find it very hard to believe that there is actually an organised campaign against XC/BlockNet.
Sadly, no-ones tried to give me big piles of cash, and the wide range of people involved in pointing out the red flags on this project make it very unlikely that these guys could be organised into a campaign, no matter how much BTC you throw at them.

And why waste cash on a FUD campaign against XC or BlockNet ?
They aren't exactly offering anything interesting, even if they are totally legitimate projects that will deliver on commitments.

Heres a much better idea:
I personally believe that less FUD being propagated would create a healthier altcoin market in general. If every FUDDER spent their time bringing in 2-5 new people into crypto every month, educating them how to download wallets and invest in crypto, it would be a much more rewarding place for everyone. That's just my 2 cents. XC is a good coin but like all good coins it gets manipulated, dumped and fudded and we need to change the whole attitude of the altcoin scene if we want it to hit more mainstream adoption. Crypto shouldn't just be for a few basement nerds and whales..it should be there for everyone, but if we want to attract more normal peeps in like women and lay persons then we need to change our attitudes fast and come off our high horses and stop pointing the finger. A more humble approach to Criypto would yield better results for the price...in general not for just XC. Smiley

Yeah...go and get the attention of the rest of the world, don't just sit on BTT, but get outside:

If every crypto ran at least one headline-getting campaign/publicity stunt, aimed at the mainstream.......we would all benefit.

Anyway guys, Happy birthday Nxt.

One year ago today, the NXT Genesis block was created. It's been an interesting year, putting it mildly.

So, as part of the celebrations, heres a fun NXT first birthday project:

816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much development does a million bucks buy you in an ICO? Answer inside on: November 23, 2014, 08:49:36 PM
This looks to me as if they haven't done anything at all on the code for 19 days....or if they have done anything, then they are keeping their new code very well hidden somewhere else (in keeping with XC/BlockNets ethos of honesty and transparency  Grin )

817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT, the ultimate SCAM, will it die because of 100% pre-mine given to 50 people? on: November 22, 2014, 11:11:53 PM

NXT got what they deserved on dealing with bluemeanie.  If they weren't so obessed with their own greed they would have seen what he is by how he presented himself outside the NXT community.

WTF ? Can you explain that ?
I think you may be missing some of the story here.
BM got hired by Nxt as a dev, and he seemed like a normal person at the time. Then all hell broke loose......
There didn't seem to be any reason then to be suspicious of him, unless you actually know somethng I don't?

Apparently it is also going to space  Shocked

Only near space though, somewhere round about 40-50kms up......

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/11/20/lohan_sponsor_nxt/

Maybe we should challenge other cryptos to a space race, get some more attention for crypto-currency from the mainstream press.
