Can't connect for the last hour or so......

DogeCoin goes on par with Peercoin - http://coinmarketcap.com/

when a clone can compete with its parent with no conceivable advantage, this is very dangerous indeed for the idea of digital scarcity. this is very troubling.
I would not be surprised is this joke is funded by crypto enemies (like JP) and when they make it No1 will let it collapse just to prove that the whole cryptocurrencies ecosystem is a joke, just like doge...

klee, Doge may seem like a joke but it is not. It's an experiment that worked out pretty nicely so far. I remember the first two days when DOGE came out, it was very well perceived from day one and people loved to send the doges around. I remember receiving hundreds of thousands just as a joke because nobody took it seriously. Not much later it began to become huge.
It also nicely demonstrates the power of marketing and hype. PS. I don't own any DOGE atm and I am personally not much interested in it, huge numbers of other people are though.

NXT is a king when it comes to crypto innovation, yet average crowds do not care about the king, they want the fun. Doge provides it.
But do we know if the creator has a hidden agenda and/or other people behind him?
On the hidden agenda: don't think DOGE is an evil scheme, it's simply an example of an emergent system; right idea in the right place at the right time leads to massive growth. Could just as easily have been CatCoin or KittehCoin or....but DOGE just caught a wave at the right moment.
If u want a conspiracy to destroy alt-coins, take a long, hard look at Maxcoin.

DOGE vs NXT = Marketing vs real innovation.
I'm not worried about DOGE in the long term. Either it will crash like a bitch when the next most-hyped coin comes along, or it will remain in the crypto ecosystem as a tipping/small payments coin, at least for a while. It brings nothing new to the table, purely marketing/hype.

I'm also not too worried about NXT. Never forget that we are barely 4 months down the road from NXTs genesis. Look how far NXT has come in that time, and look at how stable it is right now, in a very hard time for all cryptos.  Having said that, it wouldn't hurt NXT to pay slightly more attention to marketing.
If u r really old, think about VHS vs Betamax, or currently Apple vs everyone they copy, sometimes marketing wins over innovation.

I think our best 2 marketing strategies right now will be

  1) to continue to spread the word among serious tech types/crypto nerds. Nerds love NXT, we really do. Try to find another thread on BTT with the same level of technical discussion......

 2) Promote NXT as a safe haven in uncertain times for crypto. The last few days have seen big losses for a lot of cryptos, but NXT is remaining solid, only losing/gaining fiat value in step with BTC. Don't know how NXT will do in a serious BTC crash, but if enough people see it as a solid alternative to BTC and step over to NXT, the sky is the limit.

And hodl, of course, don't get impatient. It took Bitcoin 5 years to get where it is today....
1763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 12, 2014, 09:13:36 AM
By the way: GOOD LUCK IN BERLIN, GUYS!

Hals und beinbruch, boys, go, go, go...
1764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 12, 2014, 02:03:22 AM
Yeah when is NXT gonna lift up!  Huh and when will it be listed on cryptsy?! so strange that the number 6 coin is not listed on cryptsy...

some big stake holder(s) is/are not letting the price rise. they want to take profit and 0.00007 is what they feel comfortable selling at. so every time it rises above that level they sell but only enough to bring it back down to 0.00007, never lower. we will have to work past that resistance if we want to see new highs and who can say how much resistance that is. there could be 40 million worth of resistance left to work off or there could only be 1000 left. bad for the speculator looking for short term profits, great for the health of the network and the long term value proposition of nxt.

Hopefully that means nxt is being spread around.

Whales, instead of waiting at slowass exchanges, you could speed this up by sending nxt directly to 7436197154535225138 Cheesy
Don't sweat the price, let whales cash out now and create a shoal of minnows. Minnows hodl, btw.

And like Zahlen sez: all donations gladly accepted, I bought in another .25 BTC in the last couple of days and I only need another 2000 to get to 20 kNXT......subtle hint, eh?  Cheesy

BTW, the point of this post:
What does "DEBUG: will pop block 8651xxxx7465 at height 64293" in NRS 7.2 mean?
1765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 12, 2014, 01:03:34 AM
Bugger me....is this the end of the thread?

It's always mind-blowing to miss a few days in NXT world, then catch up.
Err....what can I say about the last 60 pages?

Plenty, obviously.

@jl777 *hug* Good to have u back in the boat.....
BCNext said something like do not worry about NXT being popular (or valuable). Build a digital economy using NXT. People will use the things we can build with NXT. NXT is like the roads, plumbing and wiring. Not really stuff most people get excited about. We need to build the stores, buildings, movie theatres, even farms (like POPPP has) using NXT. Most people wont know or care that they are using NXT, but of course some people will realize the value of NXT is related to the sum of the value of all the things that can be built on top of NXT.

postplusplus

Asset Exchange/TestNet. AE has gone from an idea to a near reality over the last month. NXT rocks, it's such an amazing eco-system.
While I had a cold I went looking into mining as a simple distraction for a couple of hours, (got over 300 Noble coin now, YAY!) and what I really noticed is how few crypto's actually have features above and beyond the basic "use it as money" function.
Comng back to this thread is like stepping into the NXT century, when u compare it to most of the competion.

Bitcoin, Schmitcoin......I've stopped worrying about BTC and it's exciting life. There's a crisis every week, so no use getting excited about it. I think that the rise of crypto is simply inevitable, and we are going to see a tipping point very soon. BTC may not be the winner in the long term, but it's going to dominate the next couple of years.....then NXT will take over  Grin

Going to bed, here's the saddest guy in NXT land:
hi Come-from-Beyond

it is not real nxt?

not recevied nxt?

It's not real NXT.

Oh, yeah, and BCNexts 2nd stage...might read that tomorrow.

Hi, guys, I'm on page 1635.......be with u in an hour or 2....
3 days not reading this thread was a mistake.
1767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 11, 2014, 11:32:19 PM
Gvans.....that monolith is so pretty I want to have it's cute little monolith babies. Really....I want one.
I hate to have to ask how much it costs, but ?

Moving over to stickers, I'm about to push the button on an order for 100 vinyl stickers (@140x40mm format, 1/4 bumper sticker, pre-cut) from a Netherlands printer  ( www,123Sticker.nl ).
Total costs will be €44.50 including sales tax + delivery.

This is really just a test run, to see how the quality is before I/we commit to ordering larger amounts and other designs.
So, anyone who wants stickers, drop me a PM and I'll send some out to any Euro NXTers who ask.
(might ask u to pay some postage if u live in Siberia)

@salsacz: could I get a contribution from marketing funds to cover some/all of the costs ? Ta very much....

Heres the sticker:
1768  Economy / Speculation / Re: how many coins went for 100 usd today on: February 10, 2014, 03:57:09 PM
Nice one, Bob, very slightly jealous.... Shocked

I wonder how the 4000 BTC dumper is feeling right now?
1769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 10, 2014, 12:03:37 AM
I think without a booth or naked ladies it is quite impossible to giveaway stickers during regular business talks with potential contributors
Who needs stickers when u have naked ladies?  Cheesy

Nope, business cards are much more useful in a face-2-face. Swag is always nice, tho,
Pens (Admiral.fus idea, methinks) would be good in an f2f situation.

I'd also like to use stickers for guerilla marketing (ie sticking them everywhere, just to make Joe Public think about us a bit) but I'm holding back on that at the moment.  Like to know waht other people might think about it, though?

Anyhow, I'm gonig to sneeze a lot and then upgrade my VPS.....

EDIT: on the subject of marketing, have a look at this, which some random guy posted on the main BTT thread a day or 2 ago:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=402667.0
In a world of scam/shit coins, these guys are standing out from the crowd with marketing, even though their product is no better/worse than DOGE, for example.
1770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: █ ★★★ █ CRYPTOCURRENCY [EXCHANGE] - www.swisscex.com █ ★★★ █ on: February 09, 2014, 07:30:27 PM
Guys:
Love Switzerland, love the exchange so far. Runs like a Swiss train.....

Could u consider the possibility of adding NXT to the portfolio ?   Grin
Have a look at:

for the info.

1771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 09, 2014, 01:11:48 PM
@Mario: yep, Gill sans was used for most NXT promo material up until now, but Fatih used BankGothic on his new box-of-chocolates design.

Fatih is a 3d guy but no designer, especially no typographer (no offense, Fatih. 3D is your thing, it looks good). The font looks super techy and has no good readability. In short: I don't like it Wink

You're right. I'm not a good 2D designer. But I did my best.
Next time I will use Gill Sans. I think it's too late to change it now.

Thanks.

I like Fatihs work here, and his stuff was done for a private C-f-B project, not as an "official" NXT project. Maybe we should have another little vote to see what the community thinks.

On the subject of the bumper stickers, I've made a mistake with Vistaprint. Ooops....i'm an idiot.
I ordered stickers from them 2 years ago at a great price: 100 stickers for 100 euro......the current price is €363 per 100 which is very expensive for a giveaway item. I'm going to look for other printing options.

Could i have some feedback on the price ? And on how much we are willing to spend on stickers/promo stuff?

I'm slightly sick, got a cold, I'll be not very present on the fora today...

1772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 08, 2014, 01:15:45 PM
I'll be in Prague on Monday, so I'll try to print something there. + I am reposting the stickers to the nextcoin.org thread

Sweet, I'll repost anything u miss, and get some hosted on ImageShack for the full versions, then anyone can get to them.

However: walking into a copyshop and getting these done could be expensive and/or more complicated than u might expect.
I know Vistaprint are good on price and reasonable on quality, but if u know a good copy shop in Prague, go for it.
Just don't want to miss the opportunity with Berlin.
1773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 08, 2014, 01:05:08 PM
make room for noble coin  in the top 10, dont take my word for it, read noble coin thread and you will be convinced,

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=402667.0

I was gonna slap greenbeans down as a trolling n00b, but I decided to check the thread first.  Wink
Noble looks pretty damn good, tbh, especially the depth in the community, merchants and charity projects.
Might still be a 1st gen scrypt coin, but it's a million miles away from some of the pump 'n' dump clusterfucks we've seen lately.
*kof* Maxcoin *kof*

Not saying i'm a convert, but these guys seem to be going in the right direction.

@James: u do need to slow down a bit, mate.
Love your input (when I understand it) but it can be a bit overwhelming trying to keep up with your flow of ideas.
1774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 08, 2014, 12:47:28 PM
No problem. I'll be AFK soon , back in about 5 hours.

Remember, don't do a complete resize, just add more top and bottom borders.

@salsa:
We need to get whatever designs we decide to use on to Vistaprint today, or it's going to be late for the Berlin conf.
Have u got someone to take responsibility for uploading, ordering, paying and taking delivery ?
1775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 08, 2014, 11:17:06 AM
@Mario: yep, Gill sans was used for most NXT promo material up until now, but Fatih used BankGothic on his new box-of-chocolates design.

@Fatih: Love the images, very, very nice.

BUT....I've just checked the sizing for Vistaprint and they are slightly wrong for the bumpersticker format.
Stickers will be 279mm x 76mm when printed, which means that u need to take your images from 2835 x 6xx pixels, up to around 2835 x 810 pixels. Best way to do this is NOT to resize, but to add some more background to make the images deeper (more vertical).
If u can deal with German, heres a link to the Vistaprint up load interface for the stickers:

http://www.vistaprint.de/gallery/AGQBAAABAI8AAAA=/au%C3%9Fenaufkleber-rechteckig.aspx?txi=15107&xnid=UseCasePage_Bumpers+Stickers+%28linked+item%29_Stickers+%26+Decals_Labels+%26+Stamps_All+Products&xnav=TsrImage

I can maybe do another check for if u can get back to me fairly soon....

Image resolution seems good, btw, i'm seeing 72pixels/inch, Vistaprint aren't complaining.
1776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 08, 2014, 10:36:24 AM
@ salsacz: sent u the full size .jpgs for all 3 stickers.
Any questions,  get back to me. I'll be around (off and on) for much of today.

@Fatih:
Yes, do it. It's your design after all, and u r the best guy for the job.

The only point to remember with getting these printed up quickly is that Vistaprint (and others) will crop the image slightly during the production process, which is why I added an extra 10-20 pixels as a black border to your original.
If u do make new versions, make sure that the main image doesn't get cropped. You can use the sizes of my images as guide: 2925x819 pixels.

BTW: I dont like my addition of the URL to your image, fonts not right, for a start, which font did u use?

1777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 08, 2014, 03:04:12 AM
hi, just wanna ask, is this nxt-e.com launched by u guys?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=453580.0
Nxt funding should reward nxt-e.com if it run normally, whether whoever is the owner.
It provide another platform of exchange Nxt,and this is good for Nxt liquidity.

Maybe I'm too paranoid these days, but this nxt-e IPO seems suspicious.
Could U check them out a bit more for us, Allwelder, someone said the guys behind it were Chinese, AFAIK.
1778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 08, 2014, 02:58:50 AM
nope  Cheesy

helpful  Cheesy

Any how, heres a couple of small versions, the fonts not quite right, but I've added the borders needed to get a good print to both of these, so u can submit them both to Vistaprint without any f**king around.

No URL

With URL (need correct font...)

Thats it for tonight, send me yr mail addy, I'll send u the proper print versions.
U, or one of the Berlin guys, needs to get these submitted to vistaprint.de as soon as possible, if u want to have them before the 12th.

Good luck, off to bed.....
1779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: [articles bounties] on: February 08, 2014, 01:50:09 AM

Hmmm...not like I need sleep or anything.  Wink
Do you want to have the www.nxtcrypto.org URL added to the box of chocolates design above, and if so, do u have any idea which font was used ?

1780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT discussion: allocate funds for following projects from unclaimed coins on: February 08, 2014, 01:20:42 AM
It is vote by objection.

...small cut...

Also, should I even bother with the crypto algo review?  Sounds like Jesse James can help us with that.  On that note I recommend a 250k bounty for Jesse James from unclaimed dev Nxt.  If we still want a crypto review, I can use 10 BTC from my own wallet, but I need a very clear and concise response on what we specifically need from someone reviewing the algo.

Jesse James is DoctorEvil,  of  "It was a bright cold day in April..." fame?
+10 for him, in that case.
