Being not-too-techy:
 Do not blindly transfer your old web.xml over to 6.0 or u will get a monster Java crash on start up.
The important line is :

New version, 6.0:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<web-app>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>Nxt</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>nxt.Nxt</servlet-class>

Old version:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<web-app>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>Nxt</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>Nxt</servlet-class>

VPS seems to be sweet as well, everything is on:

Good job, guys, thx very muchly.

Do we need to change something in web.xml with the new version 0.6.0?

Just don't use the old version, from 5.12 or below.
Some people (like me) have custom settings in web.xml and are stupid enough to just use the older version without checkng it.
Result, monster java crash.

J-L: I hate u......<engaging upgrade process for the second time today>

U shouldn't blame J-L. When I got info about the bug I offered a solution that was implemented in 0.5.12, actually it was just an uneffective work-around. Later BCNext poped up and proposed a better way to fix the bug. Enjoy 0.6.0.

BCNext popped up  Grin

BCNext is now some magical fairy Cheesy Cheesy

OK....got both my home nodes up and running with 6.0, VPS is currently rebuilding its blockchain.

I've stopped hating J-L and am back in friendly mode. Got slightly irritated last night, but 4 hours sleep has made me a new man.  Sad

@ChuckOne and Panda:
One of the good things about having the voting site is that we can play around with various voting parameters until we come up with a system (or systems) that upset the least number of people for the shortest time.

That's right. However, I think parameters are evil. They simply shouldn't exist. If they do, the system is playable.

Clearly monarchy.

Davearchy: The universe run by Daves. Sounds good to me.

Still having trouble getting my home 5.12 nodes to sync up cleanly. VPS seesm to be on the good path, luckily.
1809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 06, 2014, 12:29:35 AM
Would it be a good idea to automatically blacklist too old clients from connecting to new ones?
Seems like it, but we might end up with forks on basis of client version.
I've just seen someone with a heavy hallmark running on 4.7e......god knows how that still works.

On the forking front, I get the feeling that 5.12 likes to have a fresh blockchain. I've updated 3 NRS to 5.12, the one that downloaded a new blockchain is running fine and on the main fork, the other 2 (with blockchains from 5.11) forked off in very different directions.
1810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 06, 2014, 12:01:11 AM
Got 2 home nodes, 1 VPS, none of them agree with anything....bollocks
1811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 05, 2014, 11:57:19 PM

If mini computers are still relevant, then maybe a NXT branded case could be an idea for conferences. These are mockups, but embossing aluminium could be an idea to give the 'forge' industrial look. I'm thinking of cutting/routing out the NXT logo, which would also act as a vent. This would look professional. Etching NXT Crypto could also be a idea. If anyone thinks this is worthwhile or has similar ideas, let me know and I'll keep tinkering.

I like it....

Yay: I''ve got 2 votes now. So it's a tie between Evillest being ever and Complete Pussycat.
Keep on voting....

On a serious topic.....there seems to be some forking going on. My VPS and my home node are on different planets right now, just watched my home node roll back a few hundred  blocks.

Can u guys have a look at your nodes/VPSes ?

Blockchain checks, go.

I'm restarting my NRS on my server!!
Might be a good idea.....good luck, bro.

U upgraded yet?

Coffee time...possibly a cigarette.

I know the problem. Will fix it.

No worries, gonna go and shoot my faithful old VPS...it seems to have forked off into la-la land.
I'll hassle u in an hour or so.... Wink

In an hour I'm sleeping. Wink

It should work now. Please just write me an email at contact@nxtarea.com if you have things. Otherwise I will catch up in about 8 hours with this thread. Smiley

Don't worry about it, mate, I have no problem with waiting a while....might go to bed early for a change.
I'll be around in about 9-10 hours and we can see how it works out, theres always gonna be bugs to find.
Good job, anyhow...

BIG EDIT: Looks like it works....Vote for me!

Blockchain check, upgraded to 5.12, both home node and VPS are showing:

58987      14571285356259793594      woensdag 5 februari 2014 23:27:39

      0      0 + 0      0 B

      2      9029978802560728729      726 %

but home node is around 6 blocks ahead.......

And my VPS seemed to fork after the 5.12 upgrade around block 56164 for some reason. I'd let it re-build the blockchain from scatch. Now i've put back the blockchain and tx files from 5.11, it seems to be on track again.

I don't think so. If it's wanted maybe. Smiley

what is account age and how do you measure it?

How many blocks ago there should be at least the first transaction. Wink

Passion:
 just checked my Tx in block explorer, only showing 6 confirmations, I've got 10 on my NRS.
Just have to be patient for a while.....

EDIT:
That's wierd....got 6 confirms according to block explorer on
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=100

and 23 on the block explorer on:
http://www.mynxt.info/blockexplorer/details.php?action=tx&tx=15457216241628422147

Still, no worries, it'll work out in the end.

Just hit 10 confirmations...my vote should be live.....aaannnnnddddd...<looks at Nxtvote>....it's not. Bugger

I will look into that issue after the next block. Smiley

Edit: http://nxtra.org:7874/nxt?requestType=getBalance&account=10667094504543355029

You didn't send any..

EDIT: er, yep, I did....10 NXT from my sig line account to 10667094504543355029, tx id is 15457216241628422147

How long before a vote goes live?

I believe I have created the most relevant question.

After 10 NXT got transfered about 1 minute for the cronjob. I'm testing the payment system right now. After I confirm it's working I will change it to 0 NXT for testing purposes.

Edit: 13minutes since the last block.. sigh!

Will you make a poll option who take into account the voter's address balance?
(exchange's account shouldn't count)

I don't think so. If it's wanted maybe. Smiley

Just put up a voting topic:

Is EvilDave the most evil member of the NXT community?

Did you see mine?  ROFLMAO!   Grin

I am not going to activate it... but I set two options for votes and they were both Yes!    Wink
Can I have some if it works?

If its the first vote, it might be a little bit too relevant.  Grin

If its the boobs vote, I'm in....

Can you guys please test http://www.nxtvote.com/?

Check it out, search for bugs, for improvements and so on! Smiley

I know it's not possible to view finished votes right now. But this won't be a problem for now. Smiley

Just put up a voting topic:

Is EvilDave the most evil member of the NXT community?
go to:

http://www.nxtvote.com/vote.php

To make your vote on this important issue.
Parameters: accounts with over 1000 NXT, existing for last 5000 blocks, deadline 1000 blocks so we'll know pretty soon.

If this works as well as it looks, we could be seeing the end of a lot of endless discussions......nice work, guys!

(can I have my 10 NXT back now, please?)

EDIT: How many confirmations before a vote goes live?
