801  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-09] Russia Drafting Law on Confiscation of Crypto Assets on: July 09, 2021, 01:55:08 PM
I think it's only words, and they don't have instruments to realize their thoughts.
Dude, it's Russia, they have means to enforce this and they are pretty strict when it comes enforcing laws and anything keep the order. Also, given how corruption is a mentality in Russian government, I think that we will probably see to it that they will confiscate as much cryptocurrency as much as possible.
802  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-08] The search for HDD worth $378 million at the landfill will continue on: July 09, 2021, 01:05:25 PM
I am not cheering for this guy, that's a landfill and either the HDD is already destroyed or someone has already taken it and have reset the contents of it to use it for their computer. It's his fault in the first place when he threw away his laptop plus if it's in UK it's probably not even in a normal landfill because they have a different way to dispose eWaste.
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steve Wozniak Calls Bitcoin a "Miracle," Says It's Better Than Gold on: July 09, 2021, 11:56:54 AM
In December, he launched his own cryptocurrency company, Efforce.

This ^^ is the part that tells that he indeed believes in crypto.

After this company was made, all his further public declarations on the matter are biased  Wink
But I don't deny either that they do help  Smiley
I guess when it furthers their interest, people will side with some of the things that they previously didn't care for or have previously opposed. Also, it's not like it's worth to listen to what he says because as you've said, it's biased.
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the creation of Satoshi from zero to one on: July 09, 2021, 05:12:48 AM
On the technical, coding side there is a lot of people who were capable of creating a system like Bitcoin, as evidenced by the amount of altcoins that are now created. Okay, so yeah a lot of them use Bitcoin as the foundation, but they also come with their own different flavours, and improvements.

However, Satoshi didn't only have to code the whole thing, he had to think of the idea, and try to use hindsight on predicting what the world would look like in 10, 20 years, and beyond. He had to come up with an idea, and solution on how to keep Bitcoin having a constant injection into the economy, while not releasing too much too early. So, he implemented difficulty, which sort of regulates the amount of Bitcoin in circulation at a time. He also had to come up with a way of securing the transactions, and this is probably the most impressive part of the whole thing. Implementing something which prevents double spending, isn't something that a lot of people could do, well at least thinking of the solution, and then implementing it.

I don't think Satoshi is as super human as people tend to think of them as though. However, they saw a problem, and implemented a solution. There are definite short comings of Bitcoin, and whether Satoshi was aware of that, and was going to address them later remains to be seen. However, its most likely that he hadn't come up with solutions to some of the issues that exist in Bitcoin today, and was possibly hoping for others to contribute, and come up with solutions, which you could partly argue happened.
Either Satoshi is a genius that doesn't want to be known or Satoshi is a codename for a group of individuals that have developed bitcoin because I have heard that some people in the IT industry said that that's the only choice behind the identity of Satoshi, a coding genius or a group of people collaborating. Or probably, Satoshi is from the future and he wants us to use bitcoin to save humanity hahaha.
805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fighting Game Betting on: July 09, 2021, 04:37:15 AM
Are there any betting sites that are offering odds for fighting games like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Tekken or Injustice 2 out there? Kind of like watching competitive of this games and trying to do bets with it and my friend is asking if there's one so in a way, this is his question that I am relaying.
Are you talking about esports? There are few sites that I think offer e-sports betting, but only on games very popular and has a very good player base. It's rare though, so I doubt you will find any casinos offering odds for the games that you have mentioned. Would be fun if there was a casino that offered odds for those fighting games, but instead of real people playing those games, its CPU vs CPU (AI vs AI). It's going to be really unpredictable.
Dude, fighting games have a really good player base and they have a lot of good players that are always competing in the scene that's why I asked if there's a site that hosts one and I thank everyone who replied to this thread, I appreciate every answer.

807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL- Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: July 08, 2021, 11:33:59 AM
Does anybody follow Valorant at all?
Haven't really looked into this Esport before. Are there even markets available to bet on these matches?
Just noticed there is a tournament going live at the moment here:
Valorant Champions Tour livestream
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JUsz46iV4A

Very similar to counterstrike, just updated in their weaponry.

Has a Fortnite vibe going for it in the graphics department. But other than that it looks pretty interesting.
They are a big FPS right now although I don't know if the competitive is that big but, in my country a lot of established eSports icons are already hosting small tournaments although no a lot of broadcast are picking it up to give it to more audience. I think it's more of an Overwatch or Heroes of Storn rather than Fortnite because there's no build mechanic or battle royale aspect in Valorant.
808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Donaire II discussion on: July 08, 2021, 09:02:38 AM
Nonito Donaire has no match for Inoue and lets accept that fact, His power is not enough to beat Inoue

We already see the first bout and how much burden did Donaire take , but of course He will keep trying as long as he has a chance before his retirement soon.
We will never be sure until this finally happens, remember that Donaire has the experience that might be the detrimental thing that will decide the fight against Inoue, although I believe that Inoue has what it takes, I think that if you aren't betting, we better just watch and see what happens next.
809  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit – The original crash game on: July 08, 2021, 08:26:37 AM
It has been pointed out several times that this is a security feature, so Daniel is only doing this to protect his user base.

Imagine it the other way around: Someone would have gotten hold of your credentials and is now demanding that Daniel close the account and pay out the remaining BTC to a specific address. If Daniel would blindly trust the attacker, your coins would be gone in no time.

So yes, you should actually be grateful that Bustabit uses such measures.
The problem with some of the people is that they don't have enough patience to wait for about 2 weeks for something, in this fast paced world, 2 weeks of being idle isn't a thing that you can afford to do. Maybe this is the first time that they have experienced this thing so they aren't familiar and the feeling is alien to them.
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to distribute 21 million Bitcoins for a population of 7.8 billion? on: July 08, 2021, 07:45:41 AM
We're working on theory here so I would probably go over the top on how I will be able to distribute all the bitcoins to everyone. First I would probably give them a paper wallet or a tattoo that they can use to access their bitcoin, the next thing would be to send bulks of bitcoin per country and then have each government distribute it to their citizens in a margin error that's equal to about 5 people per bitcoin.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will people who ban Bitcoin in some countries give up Bitcoin? on: July 08, 2021, 07:02:13 AM
Of course. When a country puts strict rules or bans concerning bitcoin (especially freakin communist China), it's guaranteed that there will absolutely be fear. While there might be a lot of them that like Bitcoin, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to be put into concentration camps.
Maybe some people will still be able to use it even if there's a ban, I mean people always try to find a way to access something no matter how prohibited it can be right? So I don't think that bitcoin is going to be an exemption. Also, they can also try and migrate to places that doesn't have any prohibition on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin comes from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? on: July 08, 2021, 06:29:43 AM
People who think this way are either severely misled by some malicious people who brainwashed them with a lot of lies, which usually means after some time they realize those were lies and come back.
Or they naturally think this way which means they also think other things they use daily such as their phone, vehicles, bank and banking system, ATMs, ... are also "magic". There is nothing we can do, that is how they're built!
This kind of people isn't misled, they are delusional. I mean there's no way that magic exist in this world unless you consider the different mysteries in science and it's wonders a magic then probably OP isn't as delusional than I think he is. Also, OP can you prove us that there's magic, it shouldn't be easily or can't be totally explained at all to be considered a magic.
813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will El Salvador become the "Home of Bitcoin"? on: July 08, 2021, 05:09:22 AM
~
But we may consider Miners transferring their operation in El Salvador and also big traders do the same.

since the Bitcoin is now functioning as fiat in that country , i believe that Migration will come soon to that country.
I am assuming here that the "Miners" that you are talking about are the ones from China, they will probably have a hard time getting out of the country because remember that they have social credit score there and these miners are likely have received a low end score meaning that flight might or migration will be a problem for them. But if that's not the case and they can mgirate, their equipments will be left behind or the transportation of the equipment will be expensive for them to do so.
814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do many mainstream economists always oppose Bitcoin? on: July 08, 2021, 04:36:10 AM
The mainstream media has repeatedly been wrong about Bitcoin among other things. They will publish stories that generate clicks based on ignorance and hysterics.

More recently however, there has been positive stories about Crypto especially with NFTs.
I think the moment that the most influential and controversial investigative journalists died, media was never the same, it became a way to make money by manipulating the thoughts of many people. So I am not surprised that they are attacking bitcoin through mainstream media. This is just my theory but the growth of Axie Infinity might be the reason why there is a positive stories regarding NFTs.
815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why more women to trade crypto? on: July 08, 2021, 03:55:37 AM
Funnily how they're trying to force certain genders into certain industries.

Nursing, education, and social-related jobs are female dominated; whereas physical-related , computer-related, and architecture jobs are male dominated. WHICH IS TOTALLY FINE.
That's because they want to make it look like they care about gender equality, women empowerment and other feminism things while most companies are still tolerating sexual harassment against women. Also, Robinhood is still shitty as it is even if they are making women empowered in trading and breaking the stereotype that they are only for masculine, remember that they sold the stocks of their users without permission.
816  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-07-02 coinrivet - Football team AZ Alkmaar to hold BTC on balance sheet on: July 07, 2021, 02:34:26 PM
With a balance sheet that holds bitcoin, I think that it's safe to assume that players can get paid with bitcoin but I don't think that it's going to be the mandatory way to receive their salary, maybe they can do what Okung did and do a half and half with their salary.
817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2021-07-07] Ether Could Overtake Bitcoin as Store of Value: Goldman Sachs on: July 07, 2021, 11:10:45 AM
The current supply of bitcoin is making me doubt the that ETH will surpass bitcoin, isn't the fixed supply of Ethereum much higher compared to bitcoin meaning that when there's much more to go around means that the prices are much lower unlike bitcoin that has a lot of lost or dormant coins.
818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is someone worried about the recent decline of BTC? on: July 07, 2021, 10:33:05 AM
There is genuinely no need to worry about bitcoin declining because this happens very frequently and soon the prices are recovered.
It's not even a big decline because the numbers are still around the 5 digit territory, the people that haven't been on the market around 2018 is probably scared right now because they saw a 50% slash in the prices in a short time not knowing that the opposite can also happen to the market.
819  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Spain drafts bill: "authorities can temporarily requisition all types of assets" on: July 07, 2021, 09:59:28 AM
The problem with this one is that I am sure that only the part of the law that will be enacted is probably the part where the government is in favor and not the individual. Remember that the government's compensation is probably not enough to cover the cost of their requisition.
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin brings us true freedom of thought on: July 07, 2021, 09:28:35 AM
Bitcoin gave us 100% financial freedom and we now have the choice over what goes on in our financial services far away from the regular third party banking system we used to have in the past, this development of digital currency has eliminated the financial bondage the government placed on us in the past year’s.
I disagree about not being dependent on third-party systems because in my country, that's what we use for our bitcoin when we are selling it and we want to spend it on fiat. Probably you are right that we become more financially independent after bitcoin and I do hope that if it's the case, we continue to have that financial independence.
