Awesome!, too bad I didnt submit required 150k shares...oh well =/ LOL
Actually, you did break 150k shares. Just sent out the bonus payments for people who are earning the bonus for this week only. Thanks for reminding me. Manually processing payouts is very mind-numbing Ah, thought I didnt cuz the week stat showed me short by 20k shares. The week thing is kinda misleading then =P

Announcements8/13/12 - Loyalty points now expire 2 years after the price drop, extended from 6 months. 8/20/12 - Users who contribute an average hashrate of 10GH/s over the week (submit a total of at least 150,000 shares) will now earn 97% PPS 8/20/12 - Web Interface for checking your mining performance is now live at http://pool.coinlab.com/partners/protected/ Kinda confused... 150k shares is way below 10GH in the timeframe of a week.... So, what is it? 10GH or 150k share minimum / week?

I might be offering up my 3x5850's soon, so just wanted to see if anyone interested ahead of time. 2: are of unknown make, but they are reference cards 1: Sapphire reference 5850 --- 1 card has a fan needing replaced very soon, its fan starting to wobble under any high speed, this card also does not clock that well, suspect it was damaged somewhat from previous owner. (one of the unknown reference models) The other 2 are running great and fan in good condition.
The settings Ive used for mining is 800/300 1v on the 2 "good" cards. The 3rd "bad" card ive been mining around 790/300 1.08v
ALL 3 are verified to have no issues graphically in games(no distortion, texture corruption etc...) so the RAM is still good. ALL 3 mine perfectly ALL come w/ no accessories / boxes. ALL have no warranty ALL were purchased from another miner
250$ equivilant in BTC + escrow, takes the cards shipped! Please PM if interested!
Shipping to US only Please PM me w/ offers. I will respond when I make up my mind bout to actually sell them or not.
I dont have extensive rep in the BTC community, but my ebay name is "crapfartsniff" I also have a decent amount of heatware rep from forum sales under "GenTarkin" I also did a tx recently w/ BTCHero for a 5970 .. while I have no Bitcoin-OTC rep...you can contact him directly for details.

Just a comment: I really love the avenue you guys are pursuing! To hope that my GPU's could remain useful / profitable into the ASIC era is exciting. So, I hope your business venture thrives!

just wanted to comment, Ive noticed the last 2 evenings (20:30hrs PST) the protected pool lags badly for like half hour to an hour then goes back to normal....any reason?

coinlab, did you get my PM? havent heard back from ya yet and see that you are on..
Yep, check the email address you PM'd. ty much! =)

I dont think we are gettin our btc back, lets face it =(

So, let me get this right... you guys are only offering to extend my gpu's usefullness by the amount of above 2.50$/gh/1day of shares submitted ... when the value of shares go below that? So, lets say I mine 1million shares above your 2.50$ mark. That means I would only get 1million protected shares and after that... I mine at w/e the current btc landscape looks like? In other words if I signed up right now, and asics came out in 3 months, I would only have enough credits to extend my gpu's 3 months beyond that...(given the predictions bout ASICs are true)
Or am I missing something?

The safest route IMO is still BIOS modding. When the GPU's become unstable after theyve "settled in", although Ive never personally experienced this, you can still flash new settings to the card. Or you can find whats stable now and be conservative even more, in anticipation for the "burn in"...
Its safest to do bios mod because if cgminer screws up and doesnt apply voltages / clocks correctly , or it bugs out .. you have the hard BIOS clocks / mods there to back it up. Ive flashed all my 5970's to 725/500/1v just in case cgminer freaks out. From there I have cgminer apply 760/300/1v settings on windows boot. You could easily just flash to 760/300/1v(given my example/situation above) and not have to worry bout setting clocks at all after windows boots.
And yes, if cgminer detects a dangerous situation, it will still attempt to stop mining on the GPU, BIOS modding doesnt change that. Also, if you care about the longetivity of ur card, I recommend not going over 1.05v PERIOD. It puts immense strain on one of the GPU's VRMs , usually leading to a VRM overheating situation, also the RAM can be damaged due to prolonged exposure of such high temperatures from the HSF.

BIOS mod the diff voltages / clocks , to each 5970 =)
if theyre not stable im doomed doing that Well, ya figure out whats stable, then make the BIOS changes appropriately =)

Like I said, the damage is not seen in mining btc. It shows up when trying to do gaming =/
note to self: may be limited to bitcointalk.org marketplace when re-selling 5970's when mining with them becomes unprofitable Run them at lower speeds and voltages and they will be fine even for gaming so long as they run in a hot environment and you keep the fans working. Im thinking the lower speeds + the constant heat may be whats killing the RAM... I dont know, its just weird and really sucks. Ive tested my other 2 5970's and their RAM is still good. So, thats 2 thats been bad and 2 thats been good - for me. Ive never, NEVER, overvolted them either. Ran them stock or lower voltage. Most coolers have the core and memory on the same heatsink, right? I wouldn't be surprised if extended heat exposure (heat moving from the GPU -> memory chips) shortened the life of the memory. However, I don't see how lowering the memory speeds would damage the RAM. If anything, the lower heat might actually prolong the cards useful life. Yes, you would think keeping the RAM lower would help prolong it. But what if its something strange like the anomaly found in i7(bloomfield) cpu's where if the RAM voltage is .5 volts different from the Uncore voltage, u risk destroying ur cpu.... Just something like that, where too much difference could be damaging...in some explainable way that we know of..lol

I'm running 1.1v up to 92C a core and maybe 115VRAm i guess i should be worried. seen them throttling this morning before i turned A/C on
Yeah thats kind dangerous, imo abusive.

Yes , gaming actually puts stress on MORE areas of the video card than mining does. Mining stresses the shaders the most, but gaming also stresses the VRAM, VRAM controller, the ROP's and other key areas of the GPU itself that mining hardly touches at all. This is why gaming in general results being stable at lower clocks / higher voltages than mining.
