Maybe this is were a majority of the batch 1 preorders went and they are just reselling them =P HAHA

What about batch 2 customers? fuck...
2003  Economy / Services / Re: For win32 users - a script that allows actual usage of 4GB+ of RAM.... on: February 27, 2013, 10:00:57 PM
Any chance to make it work on 32-bit XP SP3?

Nope, XP and previous it did things a bit differently, alot of the code was hardcoded vs a simple check which can be overridden via kernel patch. So, if theres a way, Im presently not aware.

Been workin on patcher, it now removes testing watermarks as well.
2005  Economy / Services / Re: For win32 users - a script that allows actual usage of 4GB+ of RAM.... on: February 27, 2013, 01:22:05 AM
why would you even not upgrade to 64 bit?

Cuz, Im trying to stretch the life of my 32bit OS long as I can, since there is no inplace upgrade to 64bit. I dont wanna spend more than a month trying to figure out the last 6 years Ive put into my OS install =P
2006  Economy / Services / For win32 users - a script that allows actual usage of 4GB+ of RAM.... on: February 27, 2013, 01:00:04 AM
For years Ive wanted to find a way to use PAE to allow windows 32bit to actually use 4GB+ RAM...since thats basically what PAE is really for. On modern machines windows nearly always has PAE turned on because DEP(nx bit) requires PAE be used. So, by default most windows 32bit installs actually use the PAE enabled kernel.
But, even when PAE is forced on or is on because of DEP... RAM above 4GB is still locked away and unusable.
After coming across this article: http://www.geoffchappell.com/notes/windows/license/memory.htm

Ive been inspired to get this working for myself. So, Ive successfully been able to patch vista_32 & win7_32 kernels, resign them and boot from them. This has been tested on a couple different machines and works fantastic.
After confirming both kernel types are patchable, I set out to write an autoit script that automates the process on both vista & 7.
So, Ive made my first release of the patch. It basically patches the kernel, creates a cert, signs the patched kernel w/ the cert, modifies BCD to add entry of picking between original kernel & patched copy of the kernel.
NOTE: this is ONLY for vista or 7. Win8 32 I have not tested. XP this patch is not possible.
TO INSTALL: Simply run the exe

TO UNINSTALL: by creating a shortcut to my script, and putting 'uninstall' (without quotes) as an argument, it will remove the BCD entries and delete the modified kernel.

I am posting links to my script, one is the precompiled version(the executable)
The other is the source so you can see for urself what it does.

EDIT: patcher now gets rid of watermarks as well.... yay =)
NOTE: after applying the patch, your system may show "test" mode water mark on the desktop in the corner(s). This is normal. There are guides to get rid of this watermark(by editing user32.dll.mui file). I may make it as part of my script in the future if there is enough demand for it.

2007  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bASIC Refund Tracking Thread on: February 25, 2013, 04:54:48 AM
Well even tho the repayback seems slow as hell, these slowly paid refunds make things more hopeful. I havent gotten mine yet but yeah...still hopin will be sometime rather than never.
2008  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: February 22, 2013, 09:16:52 PM
I wonder what the reason is .. hopefully bugs in firmware or cgminer, but wonder if unit could be defective somehow =(
2009  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Impression of Avalon Machine on: February 22, 2013, 05:33:19 PM
Whats the max uve been able to OC it too? or have you tried goin above 300?
I'm not sure what you mean for "uve", is that voltage? not able to change it.

it seems you cant go above 300, since there are some duplicated work submitted, I think it is really a HW problem.

Sorry, thats short for you've =P ... ah so 300 seems to be the max? got ya. Welp, will be interesting once more people start testing their units to see what the variance is in overclockin & underclocking.

more pix of avalon units in china.

look at that sweet liquid cooling device  Grin

must be one of the upgrade options  Tongue

so, seriously, what IS that in there for?
To force air through heatsink.
Thats what I was guessin too =), w/ the case panel on, air could only go through the ASIC heatsinks...

Consider maybe adding captcha? It seems its being botted .. I cant get an entry in if I hit F5 fast enough now =(
2013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NovaCoin - Balthazar's PPC scrypt fork on: February 21, 2013, 01:01:04 AM
So, I have setup nvc for solo mining w/ cgminer.
Running novacoin-qt -server with these settings:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9332
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

Cgminer says its connected to 127.0.0.1 diff 1M without LP as user username

I have -E 1 specified in cgminer...

Is this correct?! the 1M part?!
2014  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: February 20, 2013, 06:03:55 PM
Im curious, to the guy who made the thermal images of the boards, is there a chance to get a shot of the power circuitry the same way? I wonder if those run really hot comparably or are quite cool....
Would make me more comfortable knowing those components are running way under limits.
2015  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: February 19, 2013, 11:11:20 PM
are the --avalon-options parameters specified anywhere yet? like what they actually each do? Im curious... does the last one really control the clockspeed?
2016  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: February 19, 2013, 08:50:55 PM
The big difference in power probably comes from the smaller process node, 110nm that avalon uses is horribly huge by todays standards =/
2017  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: February 19, 2013, 06:10:36 PM
It's a PC power supply the 5v and 3v rails can't carry much of a load. The 12v rails are where the power and efficiency is. From what nzhang has said they re using the 12v rails and dropping it to 1.2v with dc to dc conversion. It's more efficient at 220v than 120v.

It was stated that they were using antec 650w? power supply. The 4 pcb version had an enemax revolution 1000w unit.

I realize that, but still when crossloading certain PSU's of a certain design type...their effeciency can drop by as much as 5-10%...
crossloading is when u put load on 12v and not on 5/3v .. vice versa
2018  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: February 19, 2013, 04:31:45 PM
Im curious, does avalon use any 5V or 3.3V power rails of the PSU? ... if not, and depending on the particular PSU design, this would be a case called crossloading which could make a PSU even less efficient than its rated efficiency.
Perhaps finding out the exact model# of this PSU and seeing if any similar series is available at jonnyguru.com PSU tests would be good. He does crossloading tests for inefficiencies and voltages. Just some food for thought.
OTOH if the 5V / 3V rail is used at least some...then it should be workin well within its rating of efficiency.

Got mine in at the last second... LOL - well as per my particular cart.... I was waiting on confirmations in my wallet, w/ 40 secs on the clock left till cart expired, waited 20 seconds for bitcoinqt to do its address output calculations and btc sent -> leaving 5 seconds on the timer...LOL close one...eek!
Now, I own no BTC =( .. avalon you better deliver!
