2121  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] CoinLab Protected Pool - Now with PPS Bonuses up to 200% on: November 13, 2012, 10:20:31 PM
Last week has been paid out for all users with a balance over 1BTC (including you juhakall  Wink

Again, my apologies for the late payment and for not letting you all know that we wouldn't be in the office yesterday.

Right now, most of our developers are working on the final touches of the client before we release the initial windows build. One developer is working on some web stats improvements.

We really need to get the Windows client out the door, but once we do, we'll be taking some time to talk to some of our miners directly about what they need/want in the "Pro" linux client. If you have thoughts to contribute, post here, PM, or we can set up a skype call.

Thanks for your patience.

Chris

Chris, whatever "pro" features end up in the linux version, I sincerely hope will be in the windows version as well, in the form of AT LEAST, command line stuff...

My sentiments exactly...  why is it a 'separate' thing..  we have pro windows users too.

This is similar to the stats page without styling. why in the world was/is it a different page. It is creating extra work and headaches.

For the miner, the same code should compile in linux or windows.  Or am i way off base here?

OK, sounds like we'll need to make "pro" versions for both Linux and Windows.

The current build that is going to be released is aimed at non-technical people: we will be using this version with gamers who aren't familiar with Bitcoin mining. We'll start working a version with the advanced features pro miners need, such as command line control,  as soon as this build is done (this week probably).

Basically, CoinLab, I would suggest building a client that has a very simple yet universal front end(GUI) for the and the gamers you are targeting this too. But also, have a very comprehensive backend (commandline) .. which is universal to each of Win/*nix as well.  It would combining best of both worlds, for both those who want simple and those who want to control every aspect of it. That, would be the ultimate, IDEAL goal. One step further would be integrating some sort of API to interact w/ over TCPIP for those who would want to monitor multi rig / farm setups. All of this could be integrated into one client.

I know, for myself, if I dont have the ability to disable / change clocks / voltages on GPU's ... etc .. the windows client will be hell, because then I will have to install msi afterburner or some junk program.
I love having that fine tuning control built into cgminer. I sure hope it comes to CL's program..

In 1995 (roughly)   Microsoft bought the rights to branch sybase.  they started Microsoft sql server.

Why in the world cant we buy the rights to branch cgminer codebase, and take the branch private?  the current open source codebase would not be affected, and coinlab would have the BEST miner to go forward with.

Im not sure we would have the best miner to go forward with.. in regards to their HPC work requirement. A TON would have to be built on top of cgminer to support that. I would think....anyways..

2124  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] CoinLab Protected Pool - Now with PPS Bonuses up to 200% on: November 13, 2012, 08:49:21 PM
I second the payouts, pool has had plenty of time to mature. Every major pool offers instant payouts at anytime.

In the Bitcoin world if you want to garner trust, the first step is to pay people for their work.

Now I have spoken with Coinlab folks directly on a few occasions and although I am not privy to their financials, they are not some upstart bitcoin scam based on what I have seen. So in my opinion I wouldn't be concerned about their legitimacy and viability.

They are simple experiencing some growing pains and a ursh to get HPC work which makes sense. They just probably have limited understanding of how us miners view things. We're like any other group of specialty workers, we have our culture...lol.

Miners care about these things in my opinion:

1. Getting our bitcoins as quickly and frequently as possible!
2. Having a web based statistical portal to view our mining activity, doesn't need to be pretty, just packed with info and access!
3. The overall health of the pool - uptimes, total hashrate, general pool stability

Just my 2 cents.

Good point of what miners need.

Not so much as a point of what we "need" but rather what we "want. All we really need is to know our reported hashrate & a reliable payout w/ history. Pretty much what they have now. Since they arent focusing just on BTC mining, infact moreso on HPC contracts w/ payout in BTC... I can see why their site is not so BTC mining centric.
But, I, like the rest of you, Love moar stats!!! =P

2126  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: What's the Highest Share you have found? on: November 13, 2012, 01:51:23 AM
Cgminer now has the count of the highest share found, so it interested me enough to keep track. Figured we could have a thread of what everyone has found just for fun. So far the higest I have found is 33.4M

How about you?
wow, 33.4M that was definitely a block solver!

Wish I knew how to log the results, otherwise I will only see what goes by when Im actually looking at the miner =P
2127  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] CoinLab Protected Pool - Now with PPS Bonuses up to 200% on: November 13, 2012, 01:43:23 AM
Veteran's Day was yesterday, so quite a few businesses are closed today here in the US.  So I wouldn't read to much into no forum activity from CoinLab today.

But this is a pretty good example of why I am a firm believer in automatic payouts.

Yeah, thats prob why no bonus rates today =/ , they all taking the day off... meanwhile here at my place, we gotta work, just one state lower than WA =P ha
2128  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] CoinLab Protected Pool - Now with PPS Bonuses up to 200% on: November 12, 2012, 09:14:01 PM
I just hope they will deliver on their 2.50$/gh at this point... =/ since we dont really know the financial shape they are in and it sounds like they are having a hard time getting HPC work lined up. We may never even see the protected shares side... =(
2129  Economy / Services / Will create autoit scripts for BTC! on: November 10, 2012, 04:24:05 AM
So, first of all, this is quite new to me, far a actually being paid to write scripts.
Was recommended to make a post here by a trusted friend as a result of the work Ive done for him(KIDC) and others Ive helped in the community.
Im the author of some mining scripts .. one of them listed in the alt coin forum. The windows LTC stealth miner(written in autoit).

So, autoit can do a majority of things, actually nearly anything in a windows environment.
Autoit can automate UI's, keyboard, mouse,TCP, .. pretty much anything in windows. One of the features I love with autoit, is any script can be compiled into an exe that is 100% selfcontained, it doesnt rely on any runtimes etc...
Things autoit it is not designed for: high performance computing tasks, multithreaded work. Its slow, its designed for admin tasks. ~So dont ask me to write hashing software w/ it =P

Scripts for mining Ive written for myself and others - Ill describe briefly what each do:
-Couple cgminer watchdog scripts, they monitor cgminer and make sure its running, if not it starts it up. It also handles dead gpu polling in a variety of ways through the cgminer API.
It can either restart cgminer again if a deadgpu detected or restart cgminer w/ that particular GPU disabled(to keep stability issues to a minimum).
Also another feature in that same script is the ability to give it multiple cmd line arguments in the form of mining usernames & passwords. It then generates conf files for each of those pools and can rotate between them at a set interval. You update one config, they all get updated.
-Just got done w/ a project for work that entails a network shared sqlite database and several machines use it to display information to a UI created in autoit.
-some admin scripts written: polling HDD health & attributes via SMART, cleaning temp / junk files from HDD, force restart / shutdown windows, couple other ones for various tasks

So, Im offering my services in writing autoit scripts, keep in mind they only work on windows.

If you have a particular task needed done in windows, just post it here or PM me...Ill think it over and see if it can be done via autoit.
Im pretty busy so the scheduling of scripts completion will be whenever I can get it done. If I cant test your particular script on my machine, I will ask that the requesting party test it out and report any errors and I will make changes as necessary.
Work will be done on a "whats fair" basis. Since this is kinda new waters(far as being hired to code these scripts) for me, I have no idea what to ask for =P
I will provide the source. I will also provide a precompiled exe, in most cases compiled in 32bit(works for majority of scripting needs under 64bit OS)

Also, autoit compiled exe's can get caught on AV's sometimes. So, please feel free to test your exe's on https://www.virustotal.com/

Anyways, thats it for now! Thanks =)

Coinlab:

1.  Have you found many miners with linux64 -> nvidia cards?

2.  You said the custom client is gui only..  does that include this linux->nvidia test?

Please give us more information about the hpc work.   I myself am getting pretty nervous about the new client.

bump:

What do you mean by GUI only?  The first version released will be the Windows version, and then we'll release a linux version a couple weeks later (this version will be more geared towards pro miners like yourself).

Can the client be run at the command line?

I'm not sure, our CTO is out of town, but I'll be able to answer this Monday. How important to you is being able to run the client from command line?

To me, for windows, it would be very nice to have a command line alternative, that could work w/ scripts n such. Kinda like how cgminer does.

BTC is getting awfully close to 2.50$ / GH ... whens soonest we will be able to redeem our loyalty points? The client has to be out for that to happen right?

current profit usd at 95% is  $3.178
yeahp, like I said, pretty close to 2.50$/GH =) next diff increase and if BTC keeps going down like it has been... will put us even closer =(

It looks like our new payout system will be ready in a week or two.

In real world time, or in BFL time?   Grin
ROFL, nice!
2137  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The last month is among us.. on: November 06, 2012, 04:12:55 PM
I wonder, with GPU's dropping off because of reward halving, if diff will substantially decrease till ASIC's make their way in. If thats the case, imagine if diff fell by 30% or more... rofl, then we'd see more gpu's coming back online till ASIC. It will be interesting to watch!
2138  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: FastCash4Bitcoins Support Thread (Update: Checks & MoneyPaks enabled) on: November 06, 2012, 03:57:52 PM
Update:
Support for checks, cashier's check, and MoneyPaks has been enabled.
Bank transfers (wire & ach) and silver bullion should be enabled this evening.

CANT WAIT! for the bank transfer to be reenabled =)

For my part, the client works on both linux and windows (and maybe one day osx). However for a release, they need a front end/GUI, and I have had nothing to do with it so cannot comment on the release plan.

good to know =)
2140  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] CoinLab Protected Pool - Now with PPS Bonuses up to 200% on: November 06, 2012, 07:25:56 AM

The Alpha client is nearing completion!  We're going to have a rough version for Windows miners to start testing by the end of the week if everything goes as planned.

Why Windows?

Probably because thats what most people game on and thats one of the goals coinlab has in mind.. afaik
they spoke of having a *nix client coming later on..
