when are we going to be able to order 4th modules for batch 2 units?

aftermarket, like from bitmine.ch

sighs at that price...what a ripoff, oh well .. soon as BTC settles down to 10$ again.... ASICs will be much cheaper =P
1742  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: July 08, 2013, 10:58:20 PM
Happy to report that my unit is received today and is (quite loudly) hashing away in the guestroom. I payed EUR 90,-- for customs.
No dust, btw! No gloves either.
Haha...exactly the same here. Except -have paid 97 EuR  taxes

Q. to the experts:
if I reflash latest firmware - will all settings be kept in place?
There is so many settings, options, etc, which  I may not properly understand (even half of them)
Should i take the  risks to upgrade the FW???

Just go to the area to flash new image. You can download a copy of current settings in case something gets screwed in the config during upgrade process. But, I flashed my avy no problems and settings stayed.

cosurgi - update both firmware on the machines to conman latest...
http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/avalon/

HW errors is hardware errors - should be less than 2% of diff1shares stat .. optimally
NMW is the no_matching_work stat seen on the cgminer_api_log tab
If I had to guess, NMW probably represents comm errors between asics themselves & the fpga controller or USB .. I ono  ....perhaps, but not entirely sure. Im not sure what an ideal % of matching work it should be, but if the number is small in comparison to the matching work stats, should be fine.
The Utility & WU I believe have the same meaning they do for GPU mining...

So if I have inside  750W? there is no reason to change? a model is  unknown ... something in Chinese written on it.
 is stable at 300MHz, 325 goes to idle mode and orange light blinking. the temperature is not more than 48 degrees. it is the power supply or something else? I connected directly to PC because my TP-link internal router not working
Move out PSU from case.
I run my avalon with external PSU at 336 with 750 stock PSU (Enermax ENM750EWT-S RG) and it never restarts.
Tested @354 but noise level unacceptable, 750w PSU easily handle moderately overclocked units.
if problem still occurs than check you "cgminer api log"
It must be something like that (my unit @336 2 days w/o restart):
   [no_matching_work] => 0
   [match_work_count1] => 20069
   [match_work_count2] => 20320
   [match_work_count3] => 20197
   [match_work_count4] => 19944
   [match_work_count5] => 20103
   [match_work_count6] => 19962
   [match_work_count7] => 19976
   [match_work_count8] => 20163
   [match_work_count9] => 20064
   [match_work_count10] => 19961
   [match_work_count11] => 20056
   [match_work_count12] => 20235
   [match_work_count13] => 20173
   [match_work_count14] => 20481
   [match_work_count15] => 20215
   [match_work_count16] => 20042
   [match_work_count17] => 20044
   [match_work_count18] => 19992
   [match_work_count19] => 20040
   [match_work_count20] => 20398
   [match_work_count21] => 19627
   [match_work_count22] => 19978
   [match_work_count23] => 20354
   [match_work_count24] => 20186
All counters have almost same values. (~5% diffs) if not you have defective modules or some module overheated (usually second module w/o temp sensor ).

And you can try to reset your router, may be it's not dead.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140539.msg2672023#msg2672023

All I can say is, how the heck you get a no_matching_work stat of 0...thats crazy! , ever avy screenshot Ive seen has a slight number above 0...
1745  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 07, 2013, 06:53:12 PM
did you blow your avalon up yet? around 30% hadware errors i think. why would you think you can do this?

I have been running stable my batch #1 Avalon at 375mh/s with 3 modules since Strombom released his firmware.. believe me it's never going to blow up, I'm also using a 1600w PSU. I could manage to perform it smoothly for more than 2 days without restarts since >3 weeks.

Now the problem is different, as you can see I got my batch #2 unit.. unfortunately the results are not as expected. I received a damaged module and it's causing me troubles. This explain the high HW rate. I couldn't figure out yet how to recognize the bad PCB in order to replace it.

BTW, I already changed the freq. at 350mh/s but still getting a high HW error rate.. As Ckolivas stated, HW is not going to damage your unit is just a pointer of wasted energy.

Currently I'm wasting 30 Gh/s and energy Sad I 'll donate to anyone who help me figuring out this.

Im confused dude.... if the module is damaged... wouldnt you think the HW Error rate is going to be really high? lol...

Diff1shares vs DiffA
...
Diff1shares = work done
DiffA = work accepted by the pool

ty =) I figured that... but I still cant make sense of the differences between the 2. I put vardiff on 1 one on the pool.
Rejects + Stales + HW errors .. still dont come close to the difference between diff1 & diffa .. over a few hour period.
Well - since I wrote most of the original Icarus driver the Avalon was based on and wrote miner.php that the screen is based on I am assuming that they didn't screw it up Smiley
ckolivas did mention that the error counting was different in the avalon code (why? NFI) and I guess they could have used other fields to display the ones there Tongue

On any other device the numbers are:
Summary: "Accepted" and "Rejected" are at whatever difficulty each share is, so don't mean much, but "Difficulty Accepted" and "Difficulty Rejected" are of course the diff1 difficulty of all "Accepted" and "Rejected" shares.
"Hardware Errors" are diff1.
(WD) "Work Utility" * "Elapsed" / 60 is the amount of work done.

There is, of course, no direct relationship between (WD) and "Difficulty Accepted", "Difficulty Rejected" and "Hardware Errors"
(There's an FAQ I wrote in the README about that, that probably explains the answer to your question)

At the pool level:
"Diff1 Shares" is the number of nonces found, so that also doesn't correlate to any of the others directly either (except WD).

The Avalon itself doesn't actually know how much work it has done.
Although it was copied from the Icarus driver, the Avalon hardware is too random to work out exactly how much work it is doing, so it counts nonces to determine a good estimate of it ... however it is an estimate, not exact.

Anyway, my suggestion would be to use the API directly and check the values there and then compare them to the screen to see if they have changed the name of anything.
If not, then what I've said is the answer Smiley

Thanks for the answer. I guess, it comes down to MHSAV right? Doesnt that take everything into account and reflect pretty much what is valid and going to the pool?

dude, by the inicated HW error count vs your diff1shares.... you are running those chips way to far OC'd .. no wonder ur having restarts.
The HW error rate is like greater than 1/3rd of ur hashes!
1751  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Look what the DHL man dropped off. on: July 07, 2013, 03:09:05 AM
very nice! Got mine friday, love it =)

I am so confused as to a couple stats on the avalon webgui cgminer status page...
First of all whats NMW?

2nd

Diff1shares vs DiffA

Does diff1shares reflect the ACTUAL # of diff1 shares mined on the avalon?
Does DiffA represent the calculated number of diff1 shares accepted based on vardiff?
In other words a comparison to actual diff1 shares mined vs the luck via a higher multi on the vardiff value?

Or is diff1shares calculated from DiffA... I dont see how it is, cuz I cant come up w/ the 20-40k share amount difference using calculations from any other part of the page...
1754  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 06, 2013, 08:43:56 PM
I am still somewhat confused about the HW error %.  If I do (1385 * 100) / (134570 + 1385) it comes to 1.02.  So, does that mean 1.02% HW error?  Or am I looking at this wrong.

The fact that my HW is so close to my accepted is what is confusing me about this.  I want to start optimizing my box and working to get my hash rate a bit higher, but I think I need a better understanding of what some of these numbers mean first.

I think your calculation is right. HW being so close to accepted is just a coincidence.
yeah .. I think thats right, I do it simpler though... (HW / diff1shares) * 100
1755  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 06, 2013, 09:02:50 AM
if I had to guess, yes its lower variance, which means its probably a good thing... means more effecient hashing / comms .. etc.. but thats just my guess =)
1756  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 06, 2013, 06:50:56 AM
where did you get the watercooling? is there a setup released for avy yet?
1757  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 06, 2013, 05:33:45 AM
give it a little more time, I notice it climbs up slowly...

Gave it over night, same result at similar HW error rate

you gave it overnight yet only 25k diff 1 share equivilant...that dont add up =P

just wanna give a quick update here. Got my avalon batch 2 !!
Perfect shape, no dust inside, 850watt enermax PSU. Working great so far =-)
I ordered feb 18th, order# 35xx
1760  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 05, 2013, 09:12:35 PM
mine is a 3 module...all batch 2's are. I would imagine its a enermax GX 850 - if such thing.. Im guessing cuz the fan inside PSU has enermax on it and the wiki for avalon shows 2 enermax PSU's w/ same naming convention.

Yeah I will upgrade to latest firmware after I confirm it works n everything =)...
Im excited, still need to thoroughly go over inside n make sure all is hooked up well.
