2861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running a full node vs running with "prune mode" enabled on: January 29, 2016, 04:03:45 PM
Another question, why was this method of "pruning" chosen? Why does it just keep track of the last X amount of blocks?

This seems like an awkward implementation because it doesn't actually help anything directly, and just leaves a huge gap in the blockchain.
It would work without keeping any of the blockchain. After it verifies the blocks there really is no need for the blockchain. It keeps those blocks in case of blockchain reorgs.

Wouldn't it be more effective to prune by following the coins from the blocks they were mined from?

I.E. Keeping a record of where the coin was mined and where it is currently.
This is pruning at the node level, not shrinking the blockchain which is what you are suggesting. And at the protocol level, there is no such thing as a "coin", it is all inputs and outputs so such an idea does not work.

Ok, thanks for the further explanation. Things are a little clearer now.. I've been doing my best to learn more about the "technical" side of bitcoin, and so far the community has been wonderful for it.
2862  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have Paypal need BTC. on: January 29, 2016, 04:00:34 PM
This can work if the person with PayPal sends as a gift. No way it can be reversed after they do that.

Wrong.

If you say wrong then explain why? One person wanted their money back from me they called PayPal, even showed them our conversations on ICQ and PayPal said they couldn't do nothing about it because they sent it as a gift to me.

It's as simple as saying "It wasn't me". How can Paypal not refund your mysterious gift payment when it was accessed from a different IP, with a statement saying it was unauthorized?
2863  Economy / Digital goods / Re: $400 Amazon US at 50% on: January 28, 2016, 04:22:47 PM
what is this??

This is a (probably) hacked account, either trolling or conducting a scam.

2864  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Hillary suspend her campaign if she is indicted as the FBI is seeking to do on: January 28, 2016, 04:12:58 PM
She will not be indicted; that is just a conservative fantasy. You can't stand the fact that she will win.

About 65 % of Americans do not trust nor believe Hillary and there is no way she will be able to convince them otherwise. She will never get the votes to win.

There's a good chunk of candidates this year that are solely relying on their name to carry them into office. Hillary is one of them.. As I wouldn't mind a woman president, she is not the right woman.
2865  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Uplay account with PS 3/4 games on: January 28, 2016, 04:10:58 PM
The account is cracked. I think 120 days of guarantee are enough.

I agree that this should be moved to the digital goods section.
I have received a vouch copy from OP and I will report back with the quality of the account, and how long it stays active for.

The games are all of high quality from what I can tell so far.

120-days guarantee is beyond reasonable, you should be bored with the game(s) by then. Tongue
2866  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Uplay account with PS 3/4 games on: January 28, 2016, 03:49:45 PM
Thank you for the kind words! If the access is revoked, I'll guarantee a replacement with an account of the same value or higher. Currently I have more Xbox Uplay accounts in stock but I'll try my best to replace the PS Uplay account with a very similar one.

If you are interested in getting a vouch I wouldn't mind taking an xbox U-Play!
I would write a review on how long it lasts, if it ever gets revoked, and if I think it's worth it. Cheesy
2867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Part 3 – Much more on why clues suggest Peter Todd is probably Satoshi on: January 28, 2016, 03:45:45 PM
Theymos was ~18 when he he created the first block explorer, Peter Todd was 16 when he was discussing p2p payments with Hal Finny. I'm starting to believe that bitcoin was created by a gang of teenagers and just got out of hand in the process.

"Okay, hear me out! Here's the plan to take control of the world's money supply from them white banker dudes. First, we create this Japanese dude..."

This would be the best backstory for a rapper I've ever heard.
On a side note, Gleb, you crack me the hell up.

Edit: Not Scott Grimes, Not Patricia Sanders
2868  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Uplay account with PS 3/4 games on: January 28, 2016, 03:33:23 PM
I'm not saying anything against you personally, but I have done a few deals where I buy a digital copy/account with digital copies of games for PS4 and Xbox one.

Even when using escrow you will not be protected after the sale, and I have had all of my digital games/accounts purchased in this manner revoked only days after my purchase.

Good luck with sales, and I hope you are not like those I have encountered in the past.
2869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Someone please rebroadcast this Transaction. on: January 28, 2016, 03:31:12 PM
Where can I find all the documentation on "rebroadcasting" and similar functions?
-> https://blockchain.info/tx/70f63e662a4e08b4984244ece8103854627c3e960ebea9ca3d9c33c40264f4eb?format=hex -> copy code -> paste @ https://blockchain.info/pushtx . simple & as easy as that.

I suppose I'm looking for a more thorough explanation as to what it means to rebroadcast, because it sounds like something that could be abused or at least disruptive. I probably just don't fully understand it, yet.

Thanks for not shoo'ing me away Tongue
It cannot be used for abusive purposes. It is basically a method to broadcast the signed transaction to the network.

Modifying any parts of the raw TX would render it useless. If I understand it correctly, someone could potentially modify the TXID to another random one and thus invalidating the newer transaction using the UXTO from that TX.

This isn't an issue since it doesn't modify the value, address or anything else in the transaction. This was a problem with unconfirmed TXes. However, with majority of the network refusing to relay transactions with high s value, this wouldn't work anymore.

Thanks for the further explanation, I appreciate it and I think I understand it pretty thoroughly now. My worries have been put to rest.
2870  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info on: January 28, 2016, 03:28:56 PM
I tried the beta too, but not yet making a transaction. I can't find the option where to revert back.

I suppose our next bet would be to use the BlockChain app on our phone?

Same here can't find any option to revert it back to previous version. Can't find anything on internet, blockchain should solve this issuee. Well i think yes we should try blockchain app now. I,ll update if the iOs app is working correctly or not.

The iOS app is currently working fully as I've already mentioned in a previous post above. Whenever I have had problems with their app, I simple shoot their support a ticket and they respond withing 12-24 hours with sufficient assistance. Normally it's just them implementing a fix, and nothing for you to do on your end except wait.

So from my understanding, the implications of "prune mode" would be to allow transactions to be relayed as in a full-node, but without the (heavy)-storage dedication. I'm assuming these "prune mode" machines still confirm transactions, and so this would result in a more efficient, lighter protocol.

Is that right?

Nope, just a smaller blockchain, in my particular configuration the last 5 GB of the blockchain.

Then I'm missing the point entirely. If it's not to make blockchain lighter and more situional-ly efficient to encourage more nodes and cut-down resources where appropriate.. How does a smaller blockchain benefit anybody?

Gonna go peak through the Github repo, try to see how well C++ explains it.
2875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Someone please rebroadcast this Transaction. on: January 28, 2016, 02:47:52 PM

This thread is slightly confusing to me.. Is rebroadcasting a "stuck" transaction something that can be done from a third-party?
Yup Blockchain has the function , you can do it with your node(if you have one that is)

I do have a node, but I seem to be clueless about 99% of it's functionality.. I'm sure this is neatly written out somewhere though..

Where can I find all the documentation on "rebroadcasting" and similar functions?
2876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Someone please rebroadcast this Transaction. on: January 28, 2016, 02:45:59 PM
Thanks mate , You did that or what?

Nope, it was unconfirmed when I copied the raw TX to clipboard and confirmed on my node a few seconds later when I tried to rebroadcast it.

I wish this was something I could do though.

2877  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have Paypal need BTC. on: January 28, 2016, 02:41:34 PM
Almost nobody on this forum will accept this large of a Paypal transaction from anybody. localbitcoin is another site you could check out in addition the one mentioned above.

Don't expect to have much luck around here with Paypal.
2878  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info on: January 28, 2016, 02:37:47 PM
It sounds like your best bet might be Blockchain.info support, seeing as this is clearly a problem with either their beta version, or their instructions for setting things up.

Pro-Tip: If it's beta/alpha there will be problems. To avoid these problems, just use the stable version like everyone else. Tongue
2879  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info on: January 28, 2016, 02:32:38 PM
The blockchain.info iOS app seems to be operating fine. However when I have had issues with their service in the past, just try to access your wallet on a different platform. Switch from app to web, or web to app if possible and this normally is a temporary remedy until they fix their issues.

I don't know what you mean by beta, but I'm sure you can uninstall beta and just re-install the regular consumer version.

And then what?  Bitcoin goes up 10x, because eveyone knows she's crazy?

In a perfect world everyone knowing she's crazy would mean she doesn't win.  Huh
