1981  Economy / Services / Re: Job for Jr. Member on: April 26, 2018, 11:42:18 PM
Hi Mam/Sir!

There are so many things that are hilarious about this post. I think you are looking for "Ma'am". Otherwise, people think you're calling them your mother, and that gets confusing.

I would like to ask if its possible for me to be hired already for a job

That depends on a lot of things. Are they hiring at the local McDonalds or grocery store? What sort of job are you looking for? Are you qualified in any particular area/niche? Do you have any marketable skills or experience? Nobody has any idea if you are qualified for what kind of job, what you are willing or interested in doing or anything necessary to take your question seriously.

even if I'm still a junior member?

What does being a junior member have to do with applying for a job?

If so?

Wat. "If so", is not a sentence or a question.

what's the minimum wage I can earn?

There is no minimum that you can earn. The minimum wage you can earn is the minimum wage you are willing to work for. If you are willing to work for free, then the minimum wage is $0.00/hour. I don't understand the question.

I'm being mostly flippant, although what you are seeking is a bounty that pays $5,000/Week for your worthless spam that adds nothing intelligible to any discussion you make noise in. This doesn't exist, you've come here for the wrong reasons, it's time to leave.
1982  Other / Off-topic / Re: sMerit Post-Review on: April 26, 2018, 11:35:34 PM

That is a pretty decent post, but it is certainly lacking in elaboration. I would have liked this post to be far more informative and helpful. This post isn't bringing anything new that hasn't already been said a thousand times previously on this forum. There are similar threads that pop up every day, but it looks like you've put a decent amount of effort into it. There's just nothing particularly compelling about your submission so I won't be giving it any merit at this time.
1983  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Need Long term Partner, I want to sell my BTC for your PayPal on: April 26, 2018, 11:23:31 PM
How is it a gold mine if they have to pay 20% above the spot rate?  Gold mine for you maybe...  Grin

I agree with Anixs here, this doesn't make any sense to me. You are not looking for a partner, you are looking for a client to profit off. I would happily sell my BTC for a 20% profit on all of the money I move. Quick-tip though, I've seen people make arrangements like this in the past and after thousands of dollars in transactions over about 3-months there is usually a heavy charge-back list that gets initiated. I would suggest against doing this because you are likely to be taken for a ride and then be held responsible for the bill once your "partner" claims to Paypal that these transactions were unauthorized.

The word "Partner" sort of implies that there is a mutually beneficial relationship. To what benefit is your partner receiving by paying you 20% extra on $100's daily? You're looking for something that doesn't exist, or you're seeking a fool. I'll give you -20% Preev rate Paypal for your BTC, let me know if that's something you're interested in. Sounds like a good partnership, to me.
1984  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you keep yourself from spending on unimportant things? on: April 26, 2018, 11:18:07 PM
It helps not to have an ATM card, debit or credit card. If cash/credit is easily obtainable it will probably cause someone to spend more.

A lot of extremely wealthy people go into more depth about exactly the principle you are getting at here. Limit your own access to your funds. Put your extra money into some sort of investment, account or any where that you cannot access it, no matter how desperate you get. This will allow you to create a stable foundation at some point. Rather than constantly draining your reserves and starting from nothing, you will have fruitful investments bringing you multiple streams of income. You will be thankful that you squirreled away that money somewhere that allowed it to work for you, rather than buy you whatever you think you need.

Internet shopping is easy, convenient and often supports free shipping which can make saving difficult.

My mother has a terrible problem with internet shopping. My suggestion is don't even go to the websites. Never go browsing through a retailer, or some kind of online store. You'll find yourself monologuing and being convinced by your own stupidity that "it's a good deal", "I've got a few extra bucks", etc. You'll always find an excuse to spend your money, so limit your exposure to these spending opportunities.

How a person spends their time is probably the biggest factor. If friends always go out and spend money that makes things tough.

Agreed. Stop going out and spending $50 on drinks with the boys. Do that twice a week and you're down over $5,000 a year. Add on top of that a $5 drink every morning, because you like the fruity taste and you're down another $2,000 every year. Imagine if you just had all of that to invest, or just threw it in Bitcoin. People that smoke marijuana a few times a day end up spending about $5,000-$10,000 a year on that alone. How you spend your time matters, those mundane little things you do everyday are the most important things you do in your life. Not only does the money add up, but the time does, too. Say it takes you 20-minutes to get that drink every morning, driving/walking to the shop, waiting in line, drinking it and getting back to wherever you need to be; realistically it probably takes even longer than you think. We'll say 20-minutes, though. Do that everyday and you're spending 3 full-time work-weeks doing that small mundane daily task. Your time is worth something like $50 an hour if you have any reasonable skills and you invest it into something that truly matters. You may not be paid that much, but it could be spent elsewhere and you certainly could attain that figure if you spent your time more wisely. So not only is that drink costing you $2,000 a year in cash, but it is costing you 3-weeks worth of work or about $6,000 (at least) of your time, too. Then you have to consider that's it's probably bad for your health, too.

My point is that everybody has things that they know they would be better off if they stopped doing them. Figure out what these are, and if you need to then motivate yourself by calculating their true cost. How much time, how much money, is it affecting my health, is it helping me to achieve my goals of financial and marital success, etc. These are the questions you have to ask yourself to push yourself away from the idiotic spending.
1985  Other / Meta / Re: [SCAM PREVENTION]Remove self-moderation for topics within the marketplace! on: April 26, 2018, 10:24:07 PM
So nothing has been done yet?

There is more and more being done each and every day. The admins are working very hard to combat the issues that are most prevalent around the forum. We've gotten the merit system, which did a heavy number on spammers having incentive to continue their obnoxious habits. That was probably priority number one, because it was making this forum a wasteland to navigate. I imagine that scamming isn't something they enjoy seeing around here, and there has been increasing limitations on lower-ranking accounts due to the abuse we've seen coming from them. Their ability to have clickable links in their signature, for example, was removed with the implementation of the merit system. So I am wondering if maybe we will see the removal of their ability to self-moderate with another simultaneous implementation of some kind.
1986  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you keep yourself from spending on unimportant things? on: April 26, 2018, 09:12:37 PM
Realizing that they are unimportant things would probably be a good start. If you can honestly look at what you are spending money on and say that it is unimportant, then why are you spending money on it? Money is a product of your time, hard-work and creativity which should all be very important to you. If you are trading away your life (time/energy/thought) for things that you prioritize as unimportant, then you clearly do not place much value on your own life.

Pay yourself first is always a good rule, meaning when the money comes in you put that towards savings, investments, bills, important desires. Obviously budgeting helps, but it is so easy to drift away from a budget. You just need to take an honest look at what you are trading for idiotic things like take-out food, alcohol, drugs, dates, clothes, etc. Are you happy trading away all of your time and work for some unimportant things or would you like to make something meaningful with your life?
1987  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Have 1k usd Pokerstars, Want 850 usd worth of BTC on: April 26, 2018, 08:57:55 PM
That escalated quickly. If I had to guess, I would assume that his username is poking-fun at that, rather than supporting it. It is statistically more likely that would be the case, but I've been wrong before and there's some interesting folks out there.

Being a newbie, and this being an extremely risky transaction due to so many different factors, you are going to have a tough time getting this handled properly. There will be scammers that attempt to contact you, and they are ruthless in their attempts.

I would be interested in doing this, but I would probably want to give closer to $600, and I wouldn't want to release my funds until the Pokerstars money has been withdrawn to somewhere I feel safe. Those terms are probably unattractive, but let me know if they're the best you get.
1988  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Account Hack] icanscript - Please tag on: April 26, 2018, 08:15:23 PM
In case anybody is wondering, the original thread was posted in the Meta section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3339754.msg34947726#msg34947726). It seems you've followed the protocol pretty well for recovering your account, but I only have a couple of questions to make sure.

"Send one PM to Cyrus. If Cyrus doesn't respond after two weeks, you can try sending a PM to me instead"

Did you send the PMs simultaneously, or did you wait the two weeks as instructed? This could cause issues with the recovery of your account. I imagine theymos was extremely busy implementing the merit system, and now has a backlog of account recoveries to handle from around that time. I would suggest patience for the time being, as it seems from what I can tell, that you've done what you've needed to. It does take a few months lately, because of the increasing demand for recoveries and the lack of resources to make them happen.

"Do not create your temporary account using the same email address"

I hope that the account you are on currently is not using that "icanscript@gmail.com" e-mail, or that too will create problems in your account recovery. Can you verify that you are not using the same email for both accounts?

I too, would like to see the account tagged by a DT member. Hopefully we catch the attention of someone soon.

You say "no reply since Feb", which to me sounds like you lost access to the account in Feb; yet the post you link that you are claiming to be compromised is from November, months earlier. Were you posting on the account at all between then? When did you lose access?
1989  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: April 26, 2018, 08:00:42 PM
Your answer is just a copy paste ... You should at least cited their website as your source.

I've given you a little bit of merit for your findings, because I have been too busy to help pugman out with this thread very much. I hope to be back to business as usual very soon, but I've been working on putting together a mining operation and it has been very time consuming. Regardless, good catch on the plagiarism; it's unfortunate that we didn't catch it prior to awarding it merit.

Don't beat yourself up over it pugman, it's only a single merit and it is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Let's try to be more diligent moving forward, with maybe a quick google search on different portions of their answer, or something like that. There are free plagiarism checkers all around the internet that would make this a very easy part of the job.
1990  Other / Off-topic / Re: sMerit Post-Review on: April 26, 2018, 07:24:59 PM
Quality post deserves merit and his rank is still quite low.  The content is original so I added some merit and gave some responce.    Anytime somebody new steps up and gives a feasible discussion point and is low rank I feel obligated to chip in a bit of merit.  If you were hero actually I'd probably still consider it, depending if I agree or not lol  :p

There's nothing wrong with that. I encourage people like yourself to poke their head in my thread whenever they would like to and take a look at anyone's submissions. If you disagree, feel free to merit them and let me know. If you want to add more merit, I have no problem with that. You are free to do whatever you want to do with your merit, and I'm happy that my thread is moving merit to the people that deserve it.

It seems the threads I posted on have been deleted. Sorry, I will post in better ones and get back to you soon.

You'll have to be more careful with the threads you decide to post in. Don't waste your time if it is a garbage thread, full of mindless nonsense for the sake of spamming. I'm not sure what happened in your particular case, but normally threads get trashed, because that's where they belong.

1991  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Post Funny Stuffs Here ;D on: April 26, 2018, 04:39:55 PM
This kind of thread belong in the board labeled "Off-Topic". There is already enough spam on just about every board. If you are looking for random "funny stuffs" then off-topic, or another website would be your best option. This section is for people that are looking for help. Your thread does not fit the criteria for this board, so I expect it to be deleted momentarily. I highly suggest locking it, moving it, or reporting it to a moderator yourself to save everyone some time.

For future reference, take a look at the rules and guidelines here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

It explains what each section is for, and so you can figure out where your thread actually belongs before posting it.
1992  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Crypto Quilts / 100% Handmade on: April 26, 2018, 04:31:23 PM
I kept up with the auction and I was unable to locate anyone that placed a bid, or made any indication that they were planning to purchase the quilt. I am wondering if they have requested privacy, or is this something that you could make publicly known? I am very interested in speaking with the person that purchased the first quilt to get a better indication of the quality and their satisfaction with the purchase. Their review and feedback would go a long way towards legitimizing your business around here, in my opinion. Since the last update of the thread was "Auction closed. No bids." it has me scratching my head what happened between then and now.

Let me know if this can be arranged, because as I've mentioned previously I very well might be interested in a custom project once the Bitcoin price treats me right.
1993  Other / Meta / Re: LoyceV's Merit source application on: April 26, 2018, 03:37:41 PM
It's been 2.5 months since I opened this topic. It has been read by at least one Global Moderator and one Staff member (I know this because they left merit). All I want now, is a reply from theymos Smiley

Since you have so many glowing endorsements and merit is being thrown around within your application thread, I would have to assume that there is something else preventing them from accepting you. I remember theymos talking about looking for sources that are active in obscure board, and maybe the boards you are active in already have a disproportionate amount of merit flowing within them. I'm not really sure where you are primarily active, but I was thinking that this may be a restricting factor.
1994  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] iPhone 6S 32GB Space Gray on: April 26, 2018, 02:53:21 PM
I have just opened the box for activation.
It's brand new with box and all accessories.

It can't be both. Tongue
If you've opened the box, it isn't technically "new", but I do understand what you mean. Have you ever used the phone for personal use?

Selling it for 325 USD through BTC.

Someone offered you $250 and that was too low for you, but I think that might be the best genuine offer that you receive. You've probably already been contacted by many scammers offering you exactly the price you are looking for. I was thinking about offering close to $200, but I doubt you would be interested in that.

I'm wondering what happened that is causing you to want to sell this, because I took a peek around at big-box retailers and this seems to be how much you would pay for one brand new from them. I'm not trying to cause any issues, but there are many retail options for the same phone and the box hasn't been opened.
1995  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Tablet on: April 26, 2018, 02:33:31 PM
pugman has given me a laundry list of tablets and ultrabooks to look at, consider, compare and do all of that good stuff. So, for the mean time I am going to lock the thread while I consider these choices. I have a few people in my PM that are assisting me as well, so I will report back if need be with any information, critiques, new specifications/criteria and anything like that. I appreciate all of the help so far, but it seems like every piece of technology I come across there is something that I dislike about it. We'll see how those you've suggested stack up against my arbitrary tastes. I wish I could blow through my review of each of them, but for some reason the internet situation has been extremely rough for what feels like weeks.

Cooling is something that's a big concern of mine as well. I'm sick of ultrabooks burning me.
Going to unlock the thread, and see what anyone has to say about tablets/ultrabooks with  extraordinary cooling technology.

After looking at all of what you've presented, they are nice rigs, but they don't seem like good deals
1996  Other / Meta / Re: [SCAM PREVENTION]Remove self-moderation for topics within the marketplace! on: April 26, 2018, 02:19:09 PM
What MiLkz  proposes in the first post is the best solution to this problem.

Well, I'll have to disagree with you on that one. MiLkz proposal is a solid solution to this problem, but more realistically the best solution would be simple education/information that leads to prevention. "Prevention is better than a cure." Since informing these unfortunate souls seems to be nearly impossible, at least to any sufficient degree that would lead to prevention, we can assume that it is the most practical solution to this problem.

If the scammers were unable to profit from these methods then they would disappear, except for the adventurous newbie-scammer that would pop their head up and get a bright idea once in awhile. Although, it would soon fizzle out when they realize that their scam attempt is not sophisticated enough. For the same reason "hot local single, in your area." is such a joke now, is because people used to fall for it and now everyone knows the deal (you get a virus or stolen information/money).
1997  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (PAUSED) on: April 26, 2018, 01:52:21 PM
Please please please forgive me for the hiatus, and I promise we will get back to the challenge as soon as I know I can dedicate the few hours this needs. I would hate to be in the same position again as for the end of Round 6, where I've left you guys hanging for this long because I've been too busy.

I'll be sure to update you guys with details when I'm ready to accept applicants again for the next round, which will be Round 8, starting on May 6.

My suspicions have proven to be correct. I was under the assumption that work and life had just gotten a bit overwhelming for now. As I said earlier, I am sure nobody is going to hold it against you. You've been holding it down, doing all of the work yourself and even going out of your way to give feedback to each participant. There is nothing to be forgiven, as you've done nothing wrong.

We'll see you in a couple of weeks to pick up where we left off. We've got the funds to continue, that's for sure, so I can't imagine the interest will dissipate by the time you return. Go handle what you need to handle, and we'll dangle in suspense happily.
1998  Other / Off-topic / Re: sMerit Post-Review on: April 24, 2018, 02:00:31 PM

This post simply reads conversational, and I was unable to take away anything meaningful from the post.

As you've already said, both of your submissions have been deleted and you'll have to be more careful with the threads you choose to post in.

Another submission that has been deleted. This is a good reinforcement for my reasoning behind letting the submissions marinate for a few days (at least). It allows the moderators to weed out my bad submissions for me. Cheesy

These posts were short, but sweet and honestly pretty boring to read. I'm not trying to come down on you too hard, but it looks like there was absolutely no thought put into those posts and they were made simply to add to your post count or add to the noise. I can't merit these.

I have given you a Merit for your first submission, simply because it has provoked some discussion that I found interesting to read. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I believe there has been many lists such as this created and even submitted to me in the past, but I do not regularly give them merit. I expect you to maintain that list, keep it up to date and provide more information so that it is more extensive. I would like to use yours as a reference in the future, don't let me down! The second submission is just talking about Mike Hearn, conversationally, which is not something I plan to merit. I even gave you another Merit for your "Can someone have my private key?" post, because the graphic was interesting and it was certainly an informative post. It was information I had already heard before, but it certainly was a good refresher. Your post about diamonds is interesting, but just a little about outside of what I am interested in meriting. You've received two merit though, so that's win in my book.
1999  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What does everyone think of Jordan Peterson? on: April 24, 2018, 01:27:34 PM
I'm unsure of the rules regarding posting on my own topic to continue to try to get a response from new people, if someone sees this that knows, please let me know if I shouldn't be doing this.

The guidelines on this kind of thing are generally it is frowned upon to double-post. Although, bumping your own threads once every 24-hours is perfectly fine. You delete the bump posts before you post a new bump post, so that you don't flood your own thread.

I think that's how it works on this board, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours

21. Old bumps should be deleted.

32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

Agreed. However he logged in today, so at least he is still alive Smiley There's no reason to start the next round before Joe is done with the past two rounds.

Unless his murderer stole his laptop and he has it set to stay logged-in. Shocked
It's not that there's no reason to start the next round, there is no way to start the next round. It is Joe's challenge, afterall.

So after few months after I finish all the remaining bounties I will come back. What do you think?

I think that this type of thing need not be said. We would rather you drop the worthless bounties and join us, but you are free to do whatever you believe to be the best thing for you to do.

May be Joe should make a team now and distribute the small tasks like excluding the spam posters and posts and Joe can focus on evaluating the posts only.

I think a team might get in the way more than they'd maximize efficiency. Joe has earned themselves a bit of vacation time. We can be patient for the next round and the announcement. Allow the suspense to build and empassion you.
