2301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Nicehash user, but am thinking about using claymore stand alone on: March 07, 2018, 07:25:18 AM
I can't speak for anybody else or what the typical experience is, but I'll let you know about my last month or so. I recently got involved in mining and it has been pretty interesting, informative and frustrating to say the least. You cannot rely on those "projected payouts" to be hard and fast rules. I run a 1080ti and a 980ti on Nicehash; some days I get $3, but some days I get $9. There is fluctuation, because there is an element of randomness to mining. It is possible that your settings are not optimized, or that there would be a miner better suited for your hardware, but I've have a lot of trouble in the past with certain miners obtaining satisfactory speeds. NiceHash has been very consistent with getting the highest hash rate and switching to the most profitable algorithm on top of that. Some people are overclocking their cards, while some people are conserving their cards and running them cool, which is what I do. You can try to play around with different miners, but don't download anything that isn't verifiable and reputable. I wouldn't expect much improvement in terms of your payouts though.

Something else that I've noticed with NiceHash is that my Projected payout is constantly changing and never seems to be correct, you've got to test it yourself and just see what happens. It very regularly tells me I'm making $2 a day, but I make an average of about $5 a day even on those days.
2302  Economy / Services / Re: Purchase Product from Thailand on: March 07, 2018, 07:08:40 AM

Is something not illegal in US but illegal in your country possible to be shipped?

I am pretty sure this is in violation of forum rules, so I would advise against it if it is indeed illegal in their country.

12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards.

13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours.[2]

17. Trading of goods that are illegal in the seller's or buyer's country is forbidden. [2]

21. Old bumps should be deleted. [2]

30. Similar marketplace items must be listed together.[2][e]

32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

All of the rules being violated, in my opinion, have been quoted for you to look over. praikwan, it is advised to delete the old "Bump" posts to make your thread cleaner. You have two threads that are identical, in the same board and you bumped them simultaneously. What are you looking for your partner to do? I am  always interested in a reasonable business proposal, but I am not interested in wasting my time so let's find out very quickly if you are offering something that will be mutually beneficial.

Please lock either this thread or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3062747.0 , or a moderator will most likely delete both.
2303  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 ($10 for 2nd) + 8 Merits every week! on: March 07, 2018, 06:35:14 AM
Awesome! I'll be sure to update the post to reflect the changes and the stipulations! What a great way to encourage more participants. To recap, this prize will only be available for the weeks that have at least 25 participants. This will be considered the 3rd place prize on the weeks that qualify. Otherwise, the 2 Merit prize will take its place.

Thanks so much for doing this, bill gator! It's good to see that I'm not the only one that's so passionate about wanting to reduce the spam around here Cheesy

Thank you, because you're the one who made the idea into quite the little movement. I had offered this to two separate people, but I hadn't put in the effort to make it into a challenge and spread it further into the forum. I'm sure week 2 and beyond will consistently have 25 participants and the prizes/slots seem to be coming together nicely as well; be it merit or BTC it's really a good way to get people involved around here in the right way.

I am adding an escrow address that will hold the funds for this challenge: 37ZhBrGgw6BSghMQnPi4ixdmRBLxBTAXCf (blockchain)

You can view the balance at any given time. If you'd like to make a donation to this challenge, you can do so at that address. It will only ever be used to reward winners of this challenge, and every transaction initiated from that address will be recorded in this thread.

Would you like me to send my sponsorship money to the escrow address? It seems it is well funded already, but I'm wondering if I should save on transaction fees and send it directly or fund the escrow address; your call Joe.

You can use this: (Balance: Balance loading...)
Code:
(Balance: [img alt=Balance loading...]http://btc-priceimg.herokuapp.com/balance/37ZhBrGgw6BSghMQnPi4ixdmRBLxBTAXCf/00f[/img])

I never knew how to do that and I never bothered to check how; thank you LoyceV for answering all of the questions I do not think to ask. The balance is growing at an impressive pace, so it seems like the challenge will be well funded; I haven't even sent mine there yet, but I don't know if Joe would prefer it donated or me to send it directly in order to minimize transaction fees.

In total for Round 1, we have 19 participants. Good luck to all of them, and thank you for taking the initiative to help make the forums a better place for all.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors for helping to make this on ongoing challenge. I'm extremely grateful and pleasantly shocked at the overwhelming positive response that this has received. Smiley

6 More participants for round 2 should not be a problem to find, haven't checked the recent applications myself, but the rate at which people apply should support it. Good luck to the participants, I'll be checking in on your posts and meriting any that I feel are deserving. I'm hoping to come across some discussions that are thought-provoking, and if I do then I'll even put in a good word for ya. Proud to be a sponsor of this challenge.

I have "Watched" the thread, because it is a conversation that I would not mind taking part in. It looks like you have already received a good chunk of merit for this post, and so it is not under merited in my eyes.

One post is the 120th reply in a big thread and your post is pretty generic as far as the information being presented. Plus, it has already received a merit so that puts it out of my criteria. None of your posts add anything of substance, they are all generic and repeated information.

I have also "Watched" your thread, because that is very interesting and unique. I might pop in the thread at some point and try to get my own poem, but if I find a poem that really strikes me I will throw it a merit. To be continued, as they say.

Your submissions are tending on the mega-thread side of the forum and don't seem to be the type of posts I am looking to merit. Some of them have already received merit, some are the 1000th+ post in a mega-thread and it mostly just reads like generic, pump and dump, buy or sell, low or high, which coin nonsense. No merits here.

Broke local-rule, I cannot understand that language or read the thread.
2305  Other / Off-topic / Re: sMerit Post-Review on: March 06, 2018, 08:41:17 PM
Planning to go through the posts either tonight or tomorrow (I know I put it off a lot). I like to let it build up so that it's more of a task, rather than just three people that get denied.
2306  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: kii552007_alt Computer Hardware Scammer on: March 06, 2018, 08:15:54 PM
Me. No refund for me. But, I think it's because I sent it directly to Cliff and not the partner's paypal

That was one of the things I was interested in confirming. I was assuming it would probably be the case that anybody that sent their funds to the scammer directly will have to begin the dispute process themselves. I have no doubt the disputes are piling up more each day, but I do not believe your funds are in danger. Anyone who is in a similar boat, hang tight through the Paypal dispute process and your funds should be safe. Do not agree to cancel the dispute if Cliff contacts you and promises to refund or ship your card if you cancel the dispute. Do not play any games that they might be interested in playing.

Now, has there been anyone that has sent funds to the partner and have not had their refund process started?
2307  Other / Off-topic / Re: sMerit Post-Review on: March 06, 2018, 07:22:30 PM

Both of these posts are awful.

Vlom already merited one of your posts, and that post was simply repeating common sense information so I will not assume that post to be under merited. Another is about Fantasy Draft sports, so that won't be receiving merit from me. Another didn't even link to one of your posts and I can't find you in the thread anywhere. Another post is just calling out someone about gambling. Nothing to merit here.

While your post is helpful, I will not be meriting a post that is basically "Read this post" and then links to another thread.

This just read like generic economics talk and is not something I plan to merit. I read through your posts and they seem to be of relatively good quality, so I would not doubt you will receive merit from other members without a problem.

That post has already received multiple merit points and so I do not deem this post to be under-merited. Therefore it will not be receiving any merit from me at this point.
2308  Economy / Goods / Re: BitStickers - Bitcoin Stickers on: March 06, 2018, 06:50:09 PM
It is really strange you have not come to BitStickers before. In last 3 years if you google "bitcoin stickers" or any other altcoin sticker you will come to our page 100% Wink

That's how I arrived here now, actually. I haven't needed to search for a new sticker vendor for quite some time and when I originally stumbled upon the first vendor I wasn't even searching for one. I stuck with this vendor for years, then they disappeared and I slowly used my stickers until now they're all gone. I never gave it much thought to search for a new vendor, but now that I have I am really excited. I don't know why I just sort of assumed that if that vendor couldn't make it then it might be time to call it a day. It is strange that I've never even peeked into the thread, but expect a repeat customer out of me. I didn't get a chance to place my order yesterday; been a bit busy, but looking forward to getting one placed ASAP.
2309  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: kii552007_alt Computer Hardware Scammer on: March 06, 2018, 12:15:18 AM
Okay, well it seems like this is moving in a more positive direction than it possibly could have. I'm happy to see that people are getting refunds and aren't having too much of a tough time.
At this point is there anyone that hasn't gotten their refund at least begun? In terms of processing, or pending.
2310  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: kii552007_alt's Computer Hardware Scammer on: March 05, 2018, 08:01:55 PM
Cliff has not replied to the report on PayPal nor has he responded to my Skype messages. There is a good chance he is in a place with no Internet, or dead.

I doubt it is either of the two, but it is more likely the latter. With the way they are attempting scams at large sums of money I wouldn't be surprised if he was on many people's bad-side. They probably realize their scheme is falling apart, the partner is refunding payments or witholding forwarding funds, etc. It might be the case that the scammer got a little bit of money in their bank account and they found this as their time to exit and disappear. I feel bad that the partner is on the hook for this nonsense, but hopefully it gets handled reasonably well.

OP's partner refunded my $3500 today, said he hasn't been able to contact the OP (Cliff) for several days and now believed it was a scam. Refund is in pending status currently.

That gives me a lot of faith that the partner isn't in on the nonsense. If this is the case I would expect to see everyone that sent funds to the partner to get their money refunded shortly, especially if they get in contact with them. Where have you been discussing things with the partner? Others may be interested in this information if they have payments sent out and are unaware of how to proceed towards their refund. You would think that if the partner was involved with the scam that $3500 would be too much for them to simply refund and pass up.
2311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best exchange to get fiat? on: March 05, 2018, 07:28:41 PM
It might be more interesting if you created a thread called "Worst exchange to get fiat" where we go through popular exchanges that are still being used to this day and have a horrible reputation; even if you just made the poll this and kept the discussion in thread as is. I can think of a few off the top of my head that have extraordinary amounts of complaints about them and are still receiving deposits more than hundreds of thousands of dollars a day. There are many threads discussing the exchanges they use and recommend. I might make the thread myself if I get an extra few minutes to gather my thoughts about it properly.

Localbitcoins is notoriously annoying and high-priced. I wouldn't recommend using them. There's going to be a bunch of 1-votes and 1-person suggestions for particular exchanges. Should make a rule that at least 2-3 people recommend an option before casting it in the poll.
2312  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guide for newbie on: March 05, 2018, 07:07:02 PM
Im not 100% sure if there already a topic like this, but as I search on the forum search bar I did not see anything like this. If the post violate any rules that I did'nt know please delete.

This is an over-all guide for newbies here in forum.

This is not an over-all guide. Do not fool people into thinking this is even a starting point for the information on this forum. This is a flopped attempt at teaching newbies how to game the system for rank ups and wiggle into a bounty. Bounties that are unwelcome on social media, and here for the most part.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW IF IM NEWBIE
1. You must need to know all rules and  about this forum.
  -Heres the link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0
                          https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=20333.0
2. You must know how these forum works.
  -Heres the link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1689727.0
3. You must have Bitcoin knowledge.

At first before you join here you already know that you can earn BITCOIN here right?

The part of the quote I put in bold put a terrible taste in my mouth. Not everybody joins here to earn bitcoin, some of us are actually interested in the development and what we can contribute to the community. The people that are here to leach coin and spam around are useless. The stickies you've linked are good, but there's no reason to make a thread and post the links of stickies. They're already at the top of boards and should be read before anything else.

Your rank is important to this forum to be qualified for many other bounties.

So what's the reason you are here?
-TRADING - You dont need me, other people here can help you.
-MINING - You dont need me, other people here can help you.
-INVEST - You dont need me, other people here can help you.
-BOUNTY - I can help you a little bit.

Many people here came to join bounty, what kind of bounties they offer here?

So, you're openly admitting that you do not know anything about Bitcoin. You only have a little bit of knowledge about bounties? This is not impressive or helpful, because bounties are not a primary focus and you claim to not even know much about it to begin with. You keep talking about how important your rank is, you have tips on how to increase your rank and everything is framed around bounties. This is not a guide for anything as far as I can tell. You only give minimal information on how to try to weasel your way into a bounty or higher rank. How is this an over-all guide if the only thing you are offering is a tiny bit of knowledge about bounties?

The people that have come here specifically for bounties are not welcome members of the community if you haven't noticed. I do not know of a single user that has successfully spent their time focusing on exclusively bounties.

So for sure you are already aware of our new MERIT system to increase your rank to be a member rank and higher. I made some tips to get merits.

2313  Economy / Goods / Re: BitStickers - Bitcoin Stickers on: March 05, 2018, 06:46:22 PM
I'm placing an order for some stickers and at least one pack of stickers. Probably just a small pack to get a feel for the quality, but I'm sure I will have no problems in this category. I used to order stickers all the time from another vendor that has long since disappeared off the forum as far as I know; at least they've stopped selling stickers. Anyways, I was going to ask if you were in anyway affiliated with that person, then I noticed this thread is from 2013, so you've been around for quite some time. I can't believe I haven't come across you before, but I plan on ordering pretty regularly if all goes well with the first order. Bitcoin stickers are somewhat my own personal graffiti, entirely legal of course, but I've run out of stickers and wanna get back to it.

tweetious' order looks really sick, I love it; I can't find some of the stickers they've got in their picture, but hopefully I can throw together an order with that much variety that's also appealing and relevant. I like the anon stickers and the BTC symbol, very cool.
2314  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 ($10 for 2nd) + 8 Merits every week! on: March 05, 2018, 06:21:08 PM
For week two or the second round of the challenge I would be happy to sponsor another slot for $5 in BTC and +1 Merit if there are more than 25-Participants. It looks like this thread is getting a lot of attention, participants, reads and sponsors. I can see this picking up in a really nice way, wouldn't mind sponsoring an extra slot every time I can afford to do so and feel there are enough participants to wrestle for it fairly.

So to be clear, I will do my best to continually donate more seats as I can afford, if this becomes too complicated I will make a little table to keep track of how many seats I'll be sponsoring on any given week. I'll give notice before the round/week begins if I cannot sponsor or am going to change the sponsors I am willing to do, whether it be more or less.

I'm ready to sponsor a special award for guys that beat nullius for the first ..what the hell.... first, second, and third place.  Grin Grin Grin
So in case nullius finishes on 4th, I'll award 5$ (in BTC) to each competitor that makes the podium.

If nobody makes it this time it will go to the next round for the normal prizes

Nullius isn't infallible, they're just a person with access to the same resources of information as the rest of us. They put a good amount of effort, thought and creativity into their posts; granted, this is more than almost every other user on the forum, but it doesn't make their posts unbeatable. I'm rooting for the underdogs, and I hope nullius gets one of my prizes; since, that would mean the underdogs had their go at it.

To offer a solution for the "problem" I created: you could in the future exclude people who earned more than 1 Merit per day already (the "natural rate" to level up with Activity). Or limit winning to once per person, based on the assumption that someone who wins one week, will keep posting quality the next week anyway.

The "Natural rate" is much lower until the higher ranks, too, 10 merit for member is way less than 1 per day. The natural rate you've laid out only applies to Full-Members and above. Anyone below that is something closer to 1 merit per week; just giving my two-cents on this, since I was looking into it the other day.

That's a fair assumption, but it also doesn't address the likelihood that members continuing to participate that didn't win a prize will certainly do something to improve/adjust their posts, while the winner is likely to stagnate themselves in a position they believe to be "safe". This means there are tons of opportunities for the losers to over-take the winner in terms of quality, since they would (in theory) be the only users to make adjustments. Also, it would feel much more rewarding to win out over someone deemed to be the epitome of post quality. I'm fine with things either way, just giving a view from the other side; we shouldn't necessarily rule anyone out just because they are good at the game we are playing. Competition breeds success.
2315  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Tablet on: March 05, 2018, 05:45:18 PM
Would you be interested in picking something out on amazon or where ever and paying crypto for some one to order it for you?

I would consider that, but I have no issues with exchanging my coin into fiat and purchasing it myself if that were to be the case. So, unless there is a discount somehow involved then I don't see how much good that would be doing me. If someone wanted to help me pick out a really solid tablet, I would be happy to tip them BTC for helping me.
2316  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism and copy/paste posts on: March 05, 2018, 03:17:27 PM
This seems to be a pattern, it is exactly the same thread with a few differences in punctuation and it pops up every few days from what I can notice. It could be more frequent, it could be a long standing tradition for all I know. This just happened to catch my eye, because it is blatantly actionable abuse. I didn't want to make my post absurdly long by quoting all of the posts, I figure the username, link to profile, archive of post and direct link to post should be sufficient.

The name that seems to link all of these accounts is Dervin Cico, which is linked to a Youtube channel that is shilling for their scam site. They even revealed someone's credit card information in one of their videos. Youtube channel found : here . They were writing the same post all over the internet, a remnant can be found : here . This person has been suspended on Medium.com, check here for unknown reasons; probably shilling for their scam company again.

It seems like there are more pieces to put together and almost certainly more accounts that are connected to this nonsense. Copy + Pasting, spamming, scamming and account farming. Hopefully this is succinct enough to warrant action. Thanks for reading and maintaining this thread.
2317  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Tablet on: March 05, 2018, 02:32:16 PM
I forgot that iPads don't run Mac OSX, they run iOS or something like that. I feel a bit silly for even mentioning that, I was just throwing down some requirements that are needed to accomplish the things I am interested in accomplishing. Therefore, it's time to make some edits to OP; I've never really been on a machine with less than 4GB ram in what feels like 10-years. I honestly would not mind spending about a grand on a really nice tablet, but at that point I would probably be better off just getting one new from a store.

I'll bump the RAM requirement down to 4GB, because you're right I probably don't need that much for what I plan to do. Thanks for giving me a few tablets to look into, because I don't know squat about tablets, except that I would benefit from having one. I'll also remove Mac OSX as an acceptable OS. It's strange to me that a few GB of ram makes the entire machine so much more expensive.

I will probably have to go with a Windows OS tablet then, since I do not know another OS available for tablets that could run Flash, Java, the games I want, etc. Thanks for the heads up and tips, gonna adjust myself accordingly.
2318  Economy / Goods / [WTB] Tablet on: March 05, 2018, 04:26:42 AM
Hey everyone, I know I'm not being very specific, but that's because I'm not too specific about what I'm in the market for. I'll lay out some criteria, and if you have something that fits it, feel free to leave a post and make an offer.

I'm interested in a Windows tablet (or any OS that will run Flash + Java). I need something that is going to function with Java properly.
I'm not too picky on screen size, but I would like something that I can plug into a keyboard of some sort (to make typing more seamless). I'd like a high-resolution preferably 1080p+ (not required), hopefully 4GB RAM, something that is going to be responsive and snappy. I'm really not too picky, but I'm looking for something with a good amount of power in it, as far as tablets go. Even the resolution and ram aren't hard and fast rules. I'm looking for something that will handle internet browsing and light games, like Runescape and apps. I've got a pretty big budget, but I figured I would test out the waters here before I head to a big-box store.

Post your tablet, specs and a price below for my consideration, I'll get back to you or respond directly in the thread. If I don't find any good offers around here within about a week I will just buy from a brand name store.
2319  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: kii552007_alt's Computer Hardware Scammer on: March 05, 2018, 04:06:11 AM
I will note that the paypal name appeared as Cliffstudio and the email was cliffstudiotw@gmail.com
First email I got from OP was jigakiya@gmail.com the second payment through the partner was to ajwinn@gmail.com
ajwinn@gmail.com is the email I got the PayPal invoice from and paid the fund for the order to.

Alright, well it seems that within a very short period we have expanded from two Paypals, to three. I'm wondering if the scammer was considering just using multiple Paypal's to conduct their scams, until they realized it would be easier to have a single partner. This could be why there are multiple emails, but the one email certainly stands out as the outlier (jigakiya@gmail.com). This payment email doesn't seem to be linked anywhere else as far as I can tell. Are there any other payment emails used? Multiple payment emails definitely isn't a good sign.

Has anyone's tracking numbers updated? Has the partner heard from the scammer yet? Are there any reports of anyone actually receiving their gear?
2320  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can some one guide me to earn bit BTC in Faucet to start investing in Bitcoin on: March 05, 2018, 03:37:02 AM
Any time you spend on a faucet will be mostly wasted time. I have used multiple faucets in multiple capacities and have never been satisfied with what I receive in return for my time and effort. There are some faucets and guides that claim you make a reasonable amount, but in my experience this is mostly pie in the sky. The best suggestions and information I can give regarding faucets is regarding inputs. Faucets payout in relatively small amounts, each transaction you receive will in turn be an Input for a future transaction, each input adds onto the transaction size and the transaction size in turn determines the transaction fee. So, faucets a lot of the time will give you too many tiny inputs to consolidate, that they will end up costing you money, or earning you very little.
