I don't think post helps the OP. You are suggesting to a newbie that they should spam bounty/airdrop threads and join a signature campaign before they have made their 5th post. This is counter-productive, unhelpful and pushing this person in exactly the opposite direction that they should be. They cannot even do what you are suggesting. This does not deserve Merit, IMO. In all honesty, the thread is so poorly laid out from the beginning that it's hard to even know what the OP is asking; it doesn't look like a thread where OP is actually trying to have a serious discussion though. It seems like they are spamming a one-line, poorly thought out vague question. They want to be handed tokens for no effort. I just can't take anything in that thread seriously. I have merited this post, because it has some solid information within it that I believe to be helpful, precautionary and hard to dispute. It is very reasonable advice; many people have had bad run-ins with cloud-mining in the past, and so it's good to talk about their integrity, what to be aware of and what alternative you have if you are interested in mining to that degree. These other posts feel a little bit forced, or as if you are trying to make them longer than they need to be. While they may be a part of the conversation, it just doesn't feel as though they'd be universally helpful; so, because of this I'll have to say no merit on these posts. Thanks for participating everybody so far, this has been pretty fun. I am honestly a little bit sad that I don't feel I can merit these posts. The posts you are linking are so close each time, but there is just something off about them each time that makes me feel as though I cannot merit them. These "Buy or Sell?" Threads are one big problem we have, so I won't be feeding into that with merit at this time. Your post seems very well thought out, helpful to OP, but again it just unfortunately is in that spammy-type thread. Please, feel free to submit more of your posts, you are not exploiting it and I would like to see you earn some Merit. There is no way I would be able to adequately distribute my sMerit meaningfully without this thread operating. Merited and Rejected, you've all played a big part in helping me understand the merit system better and I plan to keep this up as long as my fingers, and attention span, will allow me. I have gone through all of the posts up to this point, sorry it took so long this round, but I had a very busy few days.

Here is one of my Posts I would like you to take a look at:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2824944.msg28938566#msg28938566
I've merited this post, even though this information has been posted many times; it looks like you're sincerely making an effort to have a high-quality discussion that would benefit the community as a whole; I can appreciate this. Now, everything can be improved in life, so at a few points you mention how you should know the differences between Tokens and coins, but then fail to explain this or provide an explanatory link. I would suggest explaining the things you mention are necessary to know, because you've clearly done your research and if we're being honest I don't know the difference between tokens and coins. I thought some people just called their coins, "tokens". Last thing, I would add some more criteria for the type of research that you would suggest be done on an ICO or potential investment, as "research" is a bit vague and may lead people into a rabbit-hole of confirming what they already believe. I did not merit your post about the Merit system, because I feel those concerns have been addressed numerous times since the release of the system and was posted many times prior to you posting it. That being said, I don't simply merit posts I agree with, and this is why I have merited your second post. I disagree with the premise, the conclusion and the supporting logic of your post, but it has provoked me to respond before I even noticed you asked me to review it in this thread. It is a good conversation to be had, because as you said there are too many confused spammed running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out where their place is in the crypto world. Merited this post; concise, straightforward, well-thought out. I also agree with it, even though it shouldn't be too significant of a hurdle for most users that are making a solid effort. I don't necesarily agree that those in between ranks are affected net-negative, because they're going to benefit heavily from the spam being gone, as well. It is a worthy sacrifice in my opinion. Another merit for you. I like that you do not add extra nonsense into your posts, or try to copy+paste the article and claim it as your own. You seem to genuinely have good information to share and it has been well-thought out thus far. I have bookmarked the link you put in this post, I skimmed it and it looked good, but I want to give it a full-read tonight and hopefully learn something I've been neglecting. You are on a roll, that's three in a row. It would be hard to argue that this post isn't helpful, the guy needed that information and I'm sure they're better off because of it now. That's where everyone checks the gas prices, and I haven't failed a transaction since I learned that. It's also helpful because you not only told him where to check for future transactions, you concisely calmed him with the information about what will happen to his current transaction. Well done, you are batting at 1000. I don't use the NEO stuff, but everyone else in that thread was posting uselessly. You gave the guy the information he needed and a reference. I unfortunately did not find any of these posts to be high-quality or helpful. Surveys normally lead to wasted time, spam, viruses, adware and headaches all around. Airdrops and Bounties have been pretty obnoxious lately, so helping enthuse these types of things isn't my cup of tea. Oh, and one suggestion I have is Don't Ask For Merit, I'd be willing to put money that it has the opposite effect you think. Still going through posts.. If you got missed on page 1, I'm coming around to you. It looks like EcuaMobi posted in here earlier, but shame they withdrew

You know your just giving +rep to a scammer. This is him: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1135704Do your own research on him. If you can't come to that conclusion, then your obviously blind, or just don't want to see it. Same Thread Style: Both have the same thread with lots of similarities. View for yourself. I've done took my time to check them out. Each of their "Bump it up" is exactly the same. Capitalization, words, spacing, ect. I just looked through both of their profiles, it seems to me that there is not enough information to conclude that they are the same person and you very well may be harming the reputation of a completely different person that had nothing to do with your deal. From what I can see their typing styles are different, their "Bump" posts are different, capitalization, words, etc. are ALL different. You are seeing what you want to see, because you are blinded by anger. From the scam thread you posted about the other guy, I'm not even positive you were scammed by him, let alone that user and OP being the same person. I have not given him +rep, I've given a review of the negotiations/process as I have experienced it so far. If you take the necessary precautions you will not be scammed, if you do not then there is a chance; I am not willing to take this chance, and therefore regardless of if they are the same person I will not be caught up by his scam. I protect myself and treat each deal as a separate instance. If you have further proof that they are the same person I would be willing to take a look and revise my statements, the same goes for the scam accusation. However, as I see it right now; OP has not acting in anyway that would be the warning signs of a scam. He insisted on Escrow, OPSkins and never even implied that he wanted me to send first or anything else that would put me at a security risk or put my items in jeopardy. Protect yourself as if everyone is a scammer and you won't have to worry about making those judgement calls or loose associations you are attempting to make.

It's not a conspiracy by the government. It's the stupidity and lack of knowledge by the average citizen and their laziness
If you plan on getting a 30 years running mortgage and you don't do a tiny bit of research on what you are getting yourself into then, it's not the government fault, it's not the bank fault, it's just you.
Storm you must be left out of the loop; I thought you heard that open-source, consensus development and decentralization is the new "Secret Society". All this information hiding in plain sight makes it impossible to know anything! They're overwhelming us with knowledge, this is how it is "Carefully" kept secret. If you can't tell this is sarcasm and I fail to understand how an Open-Source project driven by community consensus can be as OP describes. You are grasping at straws to say the things you are saying. If you plan on doing anything without running the proper research then there is nobody to blame except for your own lack of diligence. Whether this is a mortgage, an ICO investment or literally anything else you can imagine. Blindly throwing your livelihood around hoping it lands on the target is not the path to success; it is the path towards the manipulation you sound so afraid of. I just wanted to sort of +1 what storm is saying, because you sounds a little unhinged/

Sent a request on steam
I'd like to say that while OP may not be a high-ranking member they are certainly not playing the same typical games or steam/bitcoin scammers. This user is extremely ready and willing to use escrow from this site, they are willing to use a trusted 3rd party (OPSkins) for the safe transfer of the item/goods. I had some tough negotiations with OP about my knife and while I don't feel like I'm getting the price I feel I deserve, I am considering trading it to OP because I need the money and I respect the hustle. Most people try to avoid escrow, steal your OPSkins API key or force you to send first under some strange circumstances. It seems that OP is genuinely trying to make an honest profit through negotiation and trade, which is extremely admirable and I would highly suggest anyone considering doing a deal to at least contact OP and see if you can come to an agreement. I'll be in touch with an Official escrow as soon as I get a few minutes to handle our deal. Thanks for being a stand-up user. Do not expect OP to pay you maximum price.

_____Real Job______. |. _____Crypto Job_____ 1. Secured fro lifetime. | 1. Unsecured for lifetime 2. Gives you fixed Income. | 2. Income is not fixed 3. Promotion Opporutnities. | 3. Not Applicable 4. Yearly Hikes in the Salary. | 4. Not Applicable 5. Recognition in the Colleagues. |5. Not Applicable The biased way in which you approach this subject tells me you are not someone that takes crypto serious in the slightest. You are dangerously misinformed and spreading misinformation. Coding is not the "hardest" one to get in, that's a completely subjective statement. I am a software engineering student and for me, coding would be the easiest or most realistic route for my skill set to take me. You are not analyzing this objectively or in-depth by any means, you are throwing things against the wall and hoping that something sticks so you can claim to be correct. Even the wordage you use is telling that you don't belong having this conversation, to distinguish between the two as "Real" and "Something else" you are implying that the second category is not real. It is real, in case you weren't aware. "Real" Jobs are not Secured for life, they are never secured for life unless you have a contract without contingencies, stipulations or renewal dates keeping you in your position, which is unheard of. So your 1. is completely nullified and holds no weight. You can easily acquire "fixed" income in crpyto, and most jobs in the "real" world are not fixed either. If you do not see advancement opportunities available in crypto, then you are closed-minded and short-sighted. Many people started from nothing and have worked their way up in crypto to being millionaires, is this not effectively a promotion? They require more effort, knowledge, expertise and receive more pay; this is a "promotion". I do not know what job offers yearly "hikes" in salary; please do tell me where you work. Bitcoin has increased in value every single year, this would make your past work more valuable, not only increasing your future wages, but making the work you've already done more profitable retroactively. "Recognition in the colleagues", Who? What are you even talking about? If you contribute to this community you garner the recognition and respect you have earned/commanded. As it seems to me, you have exactly 0 points and are making next to no sense. You have not thought this through, you are approaching this conversation from a biased perspective and you would do better off going back to your cozy, familiar life. We are pioneers, changing the world and you're free to cling to the safety of the past if you so choose; you will be left behind.

We teach students about literature, maths, science,
I don't even know if I agree with this part of your premise; because while I do agree the financial incapability of students is worrysome, it would seem these students are equally scientifically or mathematically illiterate. Schools these days teach identity politics and pop-culture. I do not feel students are challenged or enlightened by our school systems globally. There needs to be a reform of the school system entirely, and stop attempting to pump out factory workers and drones, while encouraging creativity and entrepreneurial endeavors. What can we do to make more people interested in economy and finance and to better educate the youth so that they donīt get ripped-off?
It's near impossible to make children care about economics, politics or other things that they need not be concerned about in the moment. People have a tendency to only worry about the water if it's their faucet; in order to get children more interested in economics we would need to make it relevant to their daily lives. We need a training-economy for children.

While I have rejected these posts, I was going to merit your post in this Alt-coin thread until I scrolled up and saw somebody say the exact same thing before you; they were given a merit, very close. This would've gotten you a merit if it had not been already said, in the exact same way with the exact same information. Unfortunately you did repeat others. You earned another member a merit that deserved it, and therefore you have done good in my opinion. You may want to limit how desperate you are to join a signature campaign. While I agree this is a good thread, I am focusing on sending my merit to members mostly who stand to benefit from the merit. I have a very limited amount and want to get the most use I can with them while promoting good posting habits. I would hate to just throw all of my merit to sticky threads and the-like. Good suggestion, but I won't be using my merit there. This thread/post is horrible. Not high-quality, not well-thought out and comes off as whiny. I'm sorry, I disagree with the content and wish I at least could give merit for the logic used to arrive at your conclusion, but I cannot.

While I rejected your post, I am not going to delete it, because I feel this is a good example of something I would almost like to merit, but it just does not provide any high-quality information or assistance. Many appreciate their TX being accelerated, but the effort/merit/contribution of these posts or actions are minimal. I'd assume those that you accelerate for, would be a better candidate for acquiring merit through this thread. So while this is very helpful, it is just not helpful/informative or high-quality in the manner I am seeking to merit. I will use your review in order to judge whether I need to increase my post quality or not. thanks...
Your posts are of decent quality, they just are not helpful and therefore I do not see it proper to merit them. They are all about bounties, campaigns and things like that; so they are helpful, but not to the forum necessarily. Again, you may be best gaining merit from the users that these posts actually are intended to assist. It seems like the effort put into the posts is reasonable enough, however it's just lacking that certain something which would obligate a merit from me. Merited, I love the idea and this sort of thing; the past couple I have merited seem to be similar. I promise I will merit threads outside of this format, but they are just so helpful in my opinion that they are a very likely candidate. Please, kindly review a few of my posts: I want an objective assessment of my post quality, so don't hesitate to speak your mind! Thank you!
You are in the same boat as joni and Spider; The posts are good, but just not explicit or universally helpful in a way that I think deems merit. A lot of these posts are decent, just lacking any sort of altruism, creativity or nuanced thought.

I work at a shop and i'm wondering what i can offer you guys, Also there is a post office near me so if you want me to get shipping labels or post something for you
Normally when you are offering someone something you need to know what you are offering. Someone else cannot tell you what you are able/willing to offer. This post will most likely be deleted for it's lack of, well, everything useful. You work at a "shop", do you? What in the world does that mean, is it a candy shop, a car-dealership or a factory for artificial green bean production? If you are unaware, there are many kinds of shops. There is a Post Office near everyone, so this is not unique or helpful. Shipping labels can be acquired online, even if there isn't a Post Office nearby, so I don't see you getting any mileage out of what you are offering. You seem disinterested in your own ability to provide something of value, nobody else will take you more seriously than yourself. "Post something for you" sounds like you are willing to be a paid-shill bumper, which will get you tagged fast. If you meant you will launch ICO threads, manage campaigns, etc. Then you're going to have to do better than you currently are for any consideration whatsoever. If you are serious about looking for something to keep yourself busy with the potential to earn, take a look through this rather new thread that's maintained by my new acquaintance. They made this thread exactly for people like yourself. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2165225.msg21687097#msg21687097

Those that applied for review and were rejected, your posts have been deleted and status has been updated on the second post. CoolWave, I don't see those posts are high-quality or particularly helpful, and many other users agree. I'm sure there are people that appreciate your service, but for most it just looks like an attempt to extort tips. BitCryptex, I am sorry, but your post is just another run-of-the-mill post with information that was already repeated many times within the thread. You did not add anything to the conversation and you have contributed nothing helpful or creative with this post. Bottomline, if you need some smerit to give I'll probably could help with small amount. I'll leave the jdugement to you though, as I dont really got time to skim and review everyone's post
You are now the second person talking about their big-pimpin' sMerit stash and all I can suggest to you is looking through OP and meriting the posts I have already merited if you do not have time to search around yourself. Thread Clean-up , Deleted 5-posts (3 of which were just spam) I wish I had a post to merit, but sadly none have shown up to the party.

That post is similar to the other post I merited, but it handles a different area; I think these kind of threads are phenomenal, because it saves hours of clicking through pages and pages around the forum. People that may never find an opportunity now have every single one properly organized right in front of them. Good thread, I bookmarked it and I'll be keeping up with that. Motion Granted! I have given Satoshi a merit on his most recent post; I hope that gains more traction and we are able to make them to most merited user on here. Thanks for participating!

I just had an idea that isn't necessary, but it may be helpful. I was just looking through my "Latest Posts" and I was thinking that it might be nice to have the addition of a "Merit Count" beside each post. Not much of a function, but it would make things better looking.
Although this may or may not be put to rest by just adding a public Merit Page for each user, similar to trust as has been suggested earlier.

I have a lot of merit and can give some away.
I am asking op for link to merit thread as I am having trouble trying to find it.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0;topicseenThis is theymos' official announcement thread, I've read through it since the beginning, I also PM'd you the link; any questions feel free to ask, I'll save you the time. Added it to OP, as well. There is a secondary thread that went on for a bit before theymos made the official thread and it is still being replied to now and then still. I have given you a merit for the post you linked there, I would give the other links merit, but I am interested in using my merits towards (primarily) users that stand to benefit from merit in the intended manner. I plan to delete spam and posts that I have reviewed, however if I do grant merit I will leave your post for reference, comparison, etc. For now I am probably going to stick with +1 merit at a time, until I get a better feel for the system. Thanks for participating, and really solid work on that thread of designers. That's hard-work, and extremely helpful for keeping track of things.

Yes, those need to be adjusted. I've assumed common sense dictates that you wont be paid in sections where your signatures wont be displayed, but it's better to spell that out and add a direct rule about it, if only for the purpose of avoiding confusion or possible conflicts.
To be honest, I'm torn when it comes to that new section. I think it is a good test case, but I also think other solutions (eg the new merit systems) are needed and can do way more than banning posts with content to a subsection
Sometimes common sense serves us wrong, but that is what my assumption was; although I'm sure there will be someone that disagrees that this is common sense for whatever reason. That being said, signatures are displayed in Meta, where very meaningful conversations are had and posts are read very intimately, yet those posts are not counted either. Now that I am thinking about it, could you explain the thinking behind this? Just curious. Those sub-sections may become unused if the merit system has it's intended effect. It seems theymos is taking a multi-varied approach towards our current problem, who knows which may be more effective; although I will say merit, being forum-wide, certainly will have a greater impact. Will Merit have any affect on campaign rules as far as you can tell? I.E. Bonuses for Merited posts, or anything that relates to it besides the indirect effect of making ranks more difficult to attain?

In spirit of the new Merit system that has been released and in an attempt to get a feel for the guidelines that have been laid out I am offering a new service to see how you guys feel about it. Official Merit Announcement Thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0;topicseenIt seems to be the case that It is not allowed for merit sources to sell their merit.
therefore, under the proper circumstances it would seem appropriate to offer this service. I do not have malicious intent and if there is anyone with any reasonable objections to this then I will cease or adjust accordingly. I am willing to review posts that you link within this thread; I will look at the posts and if I see them as helpful/informative I will merit you based upon that. It's obvious that I cannot view every board/post, and therefore it would seem reasonable that those that feel their post is heavily under-merited should have a place for even a minor "appeal". I do not have very much sMerit to go around, but I will be taking a look at the linked posts where you believe yourself (or others) to have posted helpful, informative, interesting or high-quality content that is undervalued merit-wise. Please leave your posts, thoughts, comments, complaints and concerns below; I am very interested to see how this plays out. If this is not allowed, I will stop, but as I understand it this is acceptable and shouldn't be frowned upon unless my intentions are misunderstood. Please submit your links similarly to : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2821849.msg29568566#msg29568566 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2879021.msg29577405 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2850347.msg29800445#msg29800445 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2843315.0 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2850321.0
You can write a comment, a request or whatever else, but leave the links plain, one per line, without any numbers, bullets or tags in front of them or behind them. If a link is on that line, nothing else should be. Do not post useless comments or unproductive posts here; they will be deleted and go unanswered. Are X posts eligible? : I don't know, link the post you believe to be helpful.I plan to delete spam and posts that I have reviewed, however if I do grant merit I will leave your post for reference, comparison, etc. * I will occasionally be meriting the threads I have already merited with more merit.* If I have spare merit and it seems to be the case that I can afford it with the pace of this thread, I'll slap a +1 on all those I've reviewed and accepted. This is not a sale of sMerit, this is a review service offering the potential at sMerit to those that have earned itLocal-Rule : Do not format your links with tags, hyperlinks, lists or line-breaks. I will delete/reject your submissions instantly. Local-Rule : Do not post more than 5-links in one post, do not post another submissions until I have responded to your first. Local-Rule : Only submit posts written in English. It is encouraged to send posts of another user, along with your own so we can spread the Merit properly and pay it forward. I do not want Merit as a result of this, I simply want to use my sMerit as meaningfully as possible 3 sMerit currently available.

There should be a public list of all merits given/received by a user, like the trust page.
I was thinking the same thing, but as Darkstar said if they delete the post/thread then what record would there be to look at other than just the +X amount? If it links a deleted post, it just won't be there to look at and observe. Unless there is a safe way to utilize archives without squandering forum security. While we communicate in English, this isnt the only language we might speak. I just gave out some Merit in my local section. I would suspect theymos also has placed some merit sources in the local sections (eg the mods of those sections) to avoid this problematic.
This answers my question before, I was unsure how many high-ranking users were actually bi-lingual or non-English speaking as I never visit those boards being only able to speak English, currently. So then they won't be excluded, so long as they speak a language that is shared significantly enough around here. Would be interested to see the demographics on which languages offer an opportunity to rank up and at which speed. yeah a new function and you got 1000 Merit point without doing anything. cool
If users were not given the minimum amount to maintain their rank everyone would be a newbie as of today. That would make no sense and do good for nobody.
