2341  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I become a bitcoin miner? on: March 01, 2018, 03:39:57 AM
How do I set up Bitcoin?
How does a Bitcoin miner work?
How do you mine for Bitcoins?
What does a Bitcoin miner actually do?

I have recently begun mining myself so hopefully I can give you some insight to what the process is like from a fresh perspective. Setting up Bitcoin is a strange way to word a question, and it leads me to believe that you do not fully understand Bitcoin; I would suggest you read the Bitcoin Whitepaper, Satoshi's original E-mails and whatever you can about the technical aspects of Bitcoin. If you mean how can you send and receive Bitcoin, then you need a wallet of some kind (Hardware, software, paper) or you can put your trust exclusively into an exchange (not recommended).

I'm not going into a large explanation about Bitcoin mining, you can read more about that on wikipedia or something like that; I will say that it uses the computational power of your GPU, CPU or ASIC technology. Meaning, you would need a CPU, GPU or ASIC hardware (like a desktop computer) and download mining software. Once the mining software is installed, it's mostly just keeping the hardware cool.

I bought a 1080TI GPU, put it in my desktop, then downloaded NiceHash software and made an account on NiceHash. Now I just leave my computer running, it mines alternate coins and converts them into BTC automatically. It is profitable if you buy the right equipment and run the right algorithm.

At this point it almost doesn't matter whether they intend to send the cards or not. If you tell your customers that you are going to ship it on a certain date, then do not ship it and provide no contact or explanation then nobody is going to want to deal with you.

They were speaking fine until there was cause for concern and they had thousands of dollars in their hand. Then suddenly they disappear, leaving their partner holding the bag. If OP had explained how long the shipping process would take this would not be happening, however now it just feels as though they are explaining things away as we go along.

I'm still waiting for a response from the seller, or any solid evidence of a shipment. I hope your partner is not scamming you and everyone else, as you said you will know one way or the other by March 7th.
2343  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: March 01, 2018, 12:50:49 AM
pugman/bill gator, mind if I asked a question? I'll reward the merits my self, and you don't have to add it to the OP, I just don't want to make a new thread

You got it, ask away. I give you my blessing to take over the thread in any capacity you deem necessary. You are educating better than I could pull off and I'm ready to let someone else take over the merit situation, because I am at 0 for now.

Pugman is an easy going fellow, doubt they'd have any problem with you doing the same. I don't wanna speak for someone else, though.
2344  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which Cryptocurrency is best To mine on Laptop on: February 28, 2018, 09:44:11 PM
If you don't have any attachment to the laptops and they are worth a little bit of cash then you could consider selling the laptops and buying yourself a single GPU. Then you could actually mine a small amount of coins at a profit without ruining your hardware.

There's some good cards to get started on mining for just a couple hundred. I just got my start not too long ago on a 1080ti; I'm already planning on upgrading and grabbing another one. I tried mining on my laptop and it's just a joke; there's no laptop that would be worth it to mine on.
2345  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: kii552007_alt's Computer Hardware Scammer on: February 28, 2018, 08:23:40 PM
From what I've gathered about kebabman's story and what the partner has publicly posted there may be some truth coming from the partner. It might be the case that the partner is being scammed too; if the two have not met in person and there is no "collateral" between them then there is a high chance that after the funds have been withdrawn from Paypal and Moneygram'd that there will be little to no contact between the scammer and their "partner". It might be unfortunate, but the partner may be correct in that they will be taking the brunt of the blow here. I would like to hear more from them, because it's possible that kii552007_alt used their partner as a meat shield to make sure that all the problems fall onto them.

Thank you ibminer for helping us tag them until we figure out what's up.
2346  Other / Off-topic / Re: sMerit Post-Review on: February 28, 2018, 05:54:19 PM

Sometimes when a low ranking member like yourself posts in the thread I can't help but take a peek to see if they're trolling me or if they're actually ambitious and informed. I want you to know that I probably would have merited your post, but since I am running on empty and you've already racked up a good chunk of merit I would say that this post is sufficiently merited. Feel free to submit any of your other posts though, because this was a fun read for sure. You're accumulating merit at a very healthy pace, in my opinion, the numbers are much lower than they appear once you factor in how much merit is required per week to not even slow down activity rank ups.
2347  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: kii552007_alt's Computer Hardware Scammer on: February 28, 2018, 05:09:40 PM
Thanks looperjack and quick1unc for sharing your experiences and what evidence you can provide. I haven't heard a single user claim to have received anything from this user. The only interactions I've heard take place are promises of refunds, lies, fake tracking numbers, nonsensical explanation, schemes to revoke buyer protection and avoidance. I expect more users to come forward and share their evidence/stories. kii552007_alt has received $1000's from users that are now in dispute. Do you have evidence that they are threatening their victims?

This user has claimed to be the partner of kii552007_alt:

If this goes south, might as well hold everyone that is self-admittedly involved accountable.
2348  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips on bounty and campaigns.. on: February 28, 2018, 04:47:37 PM
I've never heard of the site mentioned above, but I've seen BountyHive advertised around here by some reputable folks. I have never personally used it, but I've heard some good success stories about people finding exactly what they're looking for there.

If you're primary motivation is marketing, advertising and campaigning for bounties/ICOs then you should probably spend more time on sites that specialize in that sort of thing. Again, this is not an endorsement, but I've heard good things about https://bountyhive.io/

2349  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Infographic for Newbies on: February 28, 2018, 04:00:08 PM
I'm taking a look at the info-graphic and I've got a few things that stick out at me upon first glance. This is just my opinion, not sure if anybody else would feel this way, but I noticed you put time-frames next to the rank up chart and I'm assuming you did this based off of activity; I would suggest you add a disclaimer or explanation somewhere that would include the required amount of merit one would have to gain and at what pace to maintain this time-frame. For example, mentioning "*Times are assuming you receive merit at a rate that will not halt the progress of your activity rank-ups, 1-Merit per day", I haven't done the math, because I'm on the run, but I think I explained my point. I point this out, because newbies may be unaware that you will never rank-up unless you receive merit and in order to become a Member you would need 1-merit per week or something like that to not slow down your rank.

I do not like the over-lapping charts for Merit/Activity, but I understand why you did it. The style just is a bit rough on the eyes, for me. I would like to have seen them separately displayed, because they are indeed separate systems and this gives the impression they are somehow intertwined.

I got a big chuckle out of the stock photos used to visualize the system. I have to say that when I opened the link, I wasn't expecting much, but you've done very well.
2350  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for a job on: February 28, 2018, 03:07:45 PM
Bitcoin and Blocken are ready to revolutionize many businesses, employers and job applicants are equally investigating how cryptoconcent-related positions can be used for their business purposes.

According to new information in search of jobs, searches for work on blockwork, bitcoin or cryptocurrence actually increased more than 1,000% since November 2011.

What is "Blocken"?

OP didn't ask for generic information regarding the growth of cryptocurrency usage by employers or the increase in the amount of cryptocurrency companies being started. I'd say you are spot on for information that wasn't asked for. They are looking for specific information about which companies are hiring people like them right this second and paying in cryptocurrency.

How does this information assist their job search in anyway?
2351  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] RX580 1080Ti - Brand new on: February 28, 2018, 02:29:37 PM
Since you are OP's partner and are handling the funds and what not, then you should have no problem hopping into the Scam Accusation thread and posting proof of everything you are doing. Proof of payments, explanations, chat-logs with OP, anything that would be tangible as evidence or proof of legitimacy.

OP must realize that by not responding within their own sales thread, which they were doing fine right up until orders started being placed then they are not going to have a successful transaction or long-term business. Refusing to respond to customers that have paid you and haven't received a package or valid tracking number is only going to result in lost time and refunds.

ATRD, Steamtyme, looperjack and anyone else involved should say their piece in the Accusation thread. OP's English is fine, the excuses are getting more and more ridiculous and desperate. We really need to see some packages, valid shipping numbers and better customer service response if you want any chance of this taking off.
2352  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips on bounty and campaigns.. on: February 28, 2018, 05:38:12 AM
If being a part of a signature campaign is your primary aim or goal while spending your time on the forum then you can expect that no signature campaign will be interested in you. Regularly ambition towards something would serve you well, but in this instance signature campaigns are for members that have somewhat established themselves through ranking, post history and are regular users of the forum. Users that are exclusively posting to be paid are not interested in having conversations, contributing real information or offering meaningful services to the community.

I would suggest you continue to read, ask questions and use the search function so that you can get yourself fully informed and find a more significant way to contribute to the community. Try to add something to the conversations you take part in; if you can point out something that someone did not consider or point somebody in the right direction then do so. If you simply want to say thank you, users are appreciative of "Thank you" PMs (Private Messages), because this normally isn't sufficient to post. Once you have a few merits, you can merit instead of PMing "Thank you for X information in Y thread, it helped me".

You have to find what about the forum or cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin in particular is interesting to you; what makes you think, what makes you excited and what do you have to say or offer towards it? I recommend reading the Bitcoin Whitepaper if you have not done so already.
2353  Other / Meta / Re: People with positive trust makes me wonder on: February 28, 2018, 04:10:07 AM
Dont judge the book by its cover sir. Im humbly asking this to understand the way how this system works on forum. I know trust developed for a long time period and not just earn overnight. I respect your opinion about it. But dont say Im want to imitate others just to farm trust, cause it is not on my vocabulary to do nonsense stuff. I am well trusted in real life so i prove it myself here. Thank you.

I'm not trying to show any animosity towards you, but I am simply trying to inform you how your actions appear to some. There is no problem with trying to understand how the trust system functions, or what a typical rating looks like. The official trust thread would be your best bet for this kind of information, found here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0 . I suggest reading through many pages of this thread, because almost any question you can imagine about the trust system has been voiced and answered within it. I would also suggest locking this thread until you've done some further reading through that thread, because otherwise you will simply get redundant information.

Use the search function for future questions, because simply searching "Trust" yields all sorts of results that would help you to better understand the system.

I think you’re one of the most merited member of this forum because you highly deserve it and most in chipmixer campaign has the high percentage rate of accumulated merits receivers. I won’t consider myself to be highly educated in English grammatically but I’m trying my best to be worthy and be part of this community.

I haven't gotten to your post yet, but welcome to the community. I don't think I "deserve" to be one of the most merited members on the forum, I think I just got lucky with the people that have read my posts. There are many more deserving members. I'm not particular knowledgeable, but I help out where I can. Normally grammar isn't that important to me unless it stands in the way of me understanding your post.
2355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best exchange to get fiat? on: February 28, 2018, 03:11:57 AM
I deliberately wanted to investigate experiences throughout the world as myself in Europe had issues to get accounts from coinbase and gdax.

This is strange to me, because in the US Coinbase is the go-to for pretty much every regular person that wanted to get involved with BTC. I've known many Americans that know nothing about Bitcoin, but were able to make an account on Coinbase in no time. I've heard a lot of complaints about fees with Coinbase, but never of someone having trouble getting their account going. They are pretty good about withdrawals to banks, deposits from cards or banks.

Gemini looks good and will definitely try that one.

When I have to use an exchange I use Gemini, but I never keep funds on the exchange longer than I have to. I can recommend them if you find yourself in need of an exchange, but I would highly advise against the use of exchanges; they've been notorious for problems of preposterous size.
2356  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which Cryptocurrency is best To mine on Laptop on: February 28, 2018, 02:22:35 AM
You say that they are core i3 and i5 respectively, but this gives the impression that you are planning on using the CPUs for mining. Are you planning on GPU or CPU mining? What are your electricity costs? These two questions alone would go a long way towards telling you whether or not you should even consider it.

But i have heared that MENORO is the only currency which you can mine on laptops. what do you say?

I wouldn't say there are really any currencies that are suitable to be mined with laptops; I have a very high-powered gaming laptop with a modern graphics card. The card and the CPU just simply do not push enough power for it to be significant enough to be worth the time. If you for whatever reason do not have electricity cost, it might be reasonable to mine a CPU or GPU on a very low TDP or maintaining a very low temperature on the machine. Laptops overheat extremely quickly and do not push the type of power needed for it to be worth it to begin with.
2357  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: kii552007_alt's Computer Hardware Scammer on: February 28, 2018, 01:59:08 AM
Awesome. Super glad to hear that you paid with PayPal. I hope no one bought with crypto, but I mean of course these scams happened on bitcointalk so that's unlikely.

It's funny actually, earlier in their sales thread I asked if they were accepting crypto or escrow; the answer to both was no and it was immediately strange and alarming. I don't know why they refused to accept Crypto, and maybe they responded differently through PM, - at least publicly they refused to accept it for their Hardware and so I can only hope that everybody has means of recourse and reversal.
2358  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] RX580 1080Ti - Brand new on: February 28, 2018, 01:21:55 AM
Post with evidence added to scam accusation thread.

Thank you very much,  hopefully this will encourage more users to do the same. If this user is legitimate, I'm just looking for an explanation; if this user is scamming, which I believe to be the case, then I'd like to get this resolved to prevent anything more from happening.

So I spoke with the guy below via Skype who said he bought a rx 580 and received it. He said the seller messaged him directly after seeing his thread and he ended up buying an rx 580 and received it already. Take it with a grain of salt.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2853996.0

How did you come into contact with this user? I can't see anything that is linking this user and OP. Did they message you or did you message them first, and either way how did you know to do so? I'd like if we could gather our complaints/vouches in one place to sort this out.

I don't know the details of anyone's orders. I know with mine he did have a fee offers/compromises that had the potential to good my PayPal protection at least in part.

If you look back in his posts which is something I did he had one where he mentions to someone the scenario of running away with PayPal released funds before a claim is filed; but states he wouldn't do that.

The reason he did not make off with any money on my deal was the amount of money involved was held and not released by PayPal. I also did not mess around with his lack of communication, 3 days with nothing and bam filed a dispute.

You should post your experience with proofs in the scam accusation thread, this would be very helpful in getting things rolling. His attempt at your funds is a very significant piece of the puzzle.
2359  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for a job on: February 28, 2018, 12:16:01 AM
Lauda has written up a very good guide for newbie's that are looking to start earning their first BTC. You can find the thread stickied on page 1 of this board, or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1629118.0 . If you have already read this post and have found nothing useful within it, then might I suggest that not everyone is equip to find a job in such a competitive atmosphere. If you are completely clueless to where the jobs, needs and money is within Bitcoin, then it might be best for you to stick with conventional methods of earning. There is not enough to go around and normally when you plan to earn through BTC it is required that you innovate and come up with your own unique idea that someone else hasn't gotten to first; this makes asking for means of earning BTC redundant, besides the same old things that can be found in every thread about earning within this board.

Use your talents, sell your old things, create a business, fill a need, find your niche; there are endless suggestions that would point you in the right direction, but if you are looking for an easy 9-5 that provides steady income in BTC I would say the best way to accomplish that is by acquiring a regular job and directly depositing your pay-check to an exchange or other means of purchasing BTC.
2360  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] RX580 1080Ti - Brand new on: February 27, 2018, 09:49:32 PM
I would tag him in a day or 2 but I need people to prove they have been ripped off.

Roger that Phil, I've begun a Scam Accusation thread against OP to either get the proof or resolve the issue.

Anyone that has placed an order, sent OP money, received tracking numbers or exchanging PMs with OP please contribute to the thread. We can get this user tagged, if we can prove that they are playing games and ripping you guys off through lies and deceit. I've laid the ground-work, I just need PM/Chat-Log contributions, maybe proof of payment if you're willing to provide that and the tracking number (again, if you're willing to provide that). Anything is helpful towards resolving this issue.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3034340

Go to this thread, share your story and evidence. I will take back everything I've said, lock the thread and do whatever else I can possible do if this turns out by some miracle to be legitimate. I appreciate Phil taking the conservative path and not immediately tagging this user, but at this point I am convinced they are a scammer.

I do love to see such vigilence here.. bummer. I wanted to buy.

I was in the same boat, but it's pretty common that a scammer's price will make you want to buy
