2061  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to deserve merit on: April 13, 2018, 04:07:41 AM
I am not fully aware how to deserve merit on this forum, could anyone give a hint

From where I am standing it appears that you have a fundamental misunderstanding about what the merit system is. The way you worded the OP is very strange, asking for a "hint" as if we have the keys and are simply hiding them away from you. There is honestly nothing outside of what has already been said that can be told to you. I can suggest that you use the Search function or take a browse through the Meta board where you will find a plethora of information regarding how you can improve your posting habits and become a contributing member of the forum.

Do not be concerned about receiving merit, be more concerned about having interesting conversations. Read threads that you don't plan on posting in simply so that you have more knowledge. Examine how other users convey their thoughts and opinions, while seeking to take the best from each of them along your journey to becoming a better and more informed person. Try to consider all angles, and if you believe you have thought of a viewpoint that nobody has yet to bring up, then do so in a creative, interesting, helpful, thoughtful or nuanced manner. Nobody can explain to you how to be a more thoughtful person, but we can try to assist you convey your thoughts more efficiently.
2062  Other / Meta / Re: Who is able and willing to moderate the Politics & Society section? on: April 13, 2018, 03:51:53 AM
I am not in the list, but this certainly sounds like something I would have the skill set and available time to accomplish. I'm not applying for the position (although I am interested, just doubt I am close to the best candidate), but the free exchange of ideas, allowing non-native speakers to express their opinions/ideas and allowing radical ideas to flow is something I believe in vehemently. Free speech is one of the single most important ideals that a community can hold, and this is primarily true when dealing in Politics & Society.

I'm going to see if I can assist in reporting around that board, get a feel for if I understand the criteria and the situation. The moderator needs to (in my opinion) :

Be a proponent of free speech
Have the ability to distinguish spam from poorly expressed opinion
Be willing to accept the position

I feel that I do not know enough of the values or views on free speech of the people on this list. I would "blindly" give my endorsement towards LoyceV, even though I'm not sure that they're particularly interested in the gig. Vod has done wonders for the community, but I am unsure to what, if any, extent their strongly held views on particular issues will influence the work they would potentially be doing.  I wish that I had more to say in this situation on more of the people seriously being considered, but at this time it doesn't sound like there are many good options that fit all three criteria; it seems like we can hammer out 2/3 at best.

digaran, you're not being banned, don't worry buddy.
2063  Economy / Services / Re: [HIRE] We are now hiring a bounty manager. on: April 13, 2018, 03:38:58 AM
I am not applying

Just wanted to pop in and throw my two-cents. There are a lot of bounty managers that advertise their services around the Board. I would suggest that you take a look at reputable bounty managers, that have a history of handling campaigns efficiently, professionally, on-time and without drama. These people have no negative ratings from DT members and are fully capable of whatever project you have in mind.

Threads like these tend to attract the bounty managers that aren't of the quality you may be seeking. I have seen a lot of projects get a bad reputation simply from choosing the wrong manager. They refused to seek outside of those that applied for the position and this left them with an extremely small pool of unqualified applicants with no reputation to handle such a task. It is damaging for a business to do this, and I have seen it happen too many times.

Please, take a look at the regular names, there's a handful of solid options and I would suggest that you don't need to create your own thread in order to find them.
2064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is going on today?! on: April 13, 2018, 03:11:29 AM
From everything I've gathered over the years, it seems like it's almost exclusively opinionated speculation. There are tons of numbers, statistics and theories that would support almost any price point imaginable. People can explain why it will go down at the same time people are able to explain it having the capability to rise as well. Nobody knows the future, and honestly people do not know why the price moves outside of educated guessing. I'm sure someone will have a laugh at my expense, as they believe to be a prophet, but the honest truth is nobody knows. We can only tell you whatever news, investment, innovation or other information is the most relevant and impactful, this is as close to explaining a rise/fall as you can hope to get, IMO.

I think the question is worded incorrectly though, because long-term BTC has always been "skyrocketing" as you put it. Short-term, this is nothing new, or out of the ordinary. What has made this particular movement in price cause you to ask the question in the first place? Are you new to Bitcoin? We've had much bigger inexplicable leaps and falls.
2065  Other / Meta / Re: [SCAM PREVENTION]Remove self-moderation for topics within the marketplace! on: April 13, 2018, 03:01:36 AM
Seriously, why is self-moderation still a thing in the marketplace boards?
Has anyone brought up any valid points as to why anyone would need self-moderation in these boards?

Without a little bit of clarification I am unsure if I'm understanding the question right. Are you speaking in general, or are you speaking about newbies/lower-ranking members? Earlier in this thread and in the thread that preceded this discussion I had brought up a bunch of what I believe to be valid reasons for self-moderation on those boards.
2066  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (Round 6) on: April 13, 2018, 02:24:41 AM
Roger that, I think it was Round 3 that I missed you actually; because I feel like I remember doing it for Round 4. Regardless, it looks like I have indeed skipped you on a merit without realizing it. One way or another, doesn't matter how you slice it, I pledged a merit as long as I felt you were deserving and I certainly agree.

I have given you a merit for this post : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3306385.msg34502844#msg34502844

Very interesting read, and it seems like it is getting you a lot of attention in terms of merit; thought I might as well jump on the wagon, even if it wasn't a post made back when the merit was pledged. I don't see that as being much of a concern, because even looking through your past post history during the time of the pledge(s) your posts were still up to par with my "criteria" of meriting. Good job placing twice in a row, and apologies for taking so long to circle back to you.
2067  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit Source @digaran has gone too far on: April 13, 2018, 01:46:46 AM
It's disclosed on his profile page too.

I think this is some sort of ham-fisted attempt at satire or mockery.

I think ham-fisted, half-baked mockery is the language of the endangered digaran-genus. This is Joe's attempt to communicate with our legendary enigma, if I had to guess.
I'd say that is a pretty solid satire, if the point is to play on digaran's process of strange-premise to blind logic into a conclusion that is exclusively designed to maim; an over swing, if you will.

My guess is digaran was probably already logged into his alt, and too much of a lazy-jumper to hop back on the other account. There isn't anything to digaran's accusations or suggestions most of the time, but as I've said before you need to look at it more comically. I can't imagine that he believes even half of the things that come out of their mouth, and if he does I can't imagine that these beliefs are well-thought out or have endured any amount of critical thinking.
2068  Economy / Services / Re: Writing Service on: April 13, 2018, 01:27:03 AM
fuck off

I believe our back and forth has been rather productive, too. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of everything I have suggested, and answering all of my questions with unforeseen responses in a very thoughtful systematic manner. I am sure that the people interested in hiring you for their services will be thankful that we've addressed these issues and shown that you are able to overcome small problems with ease.

I would like to donate the $0.03, as per your pay-rate, for your response just now. It has been eyeopening and I'm impressed. Thank you for showing your true value and worth, publicly. I appreciate every second that you have spent taking the time to listen to my criticism and adjust yourself accordingly. I see now that I was quick to jump to judgement, and in fact was incorrect about many of my initial thoughts in the situation.
2069  Economy / Services / Re: Writing Service on: April 13, 2018, 01:11:44 AM
From what I've gathered by reading your extremely short post, that is by no means convincing, impressive or illustrative in anyway of writing talent you are seeking a pay-rate of about $54 per hour of writing. This is assuming a rather slugging 60-words per minute as your typing speed; of course, you may be slower or you may be quicker, but this seems an absurd rate of pay to be asking for without any portfolio or past-projects being presented.

Also, you would have charged $1.15+ to have written your OP, which I would suggest is absolutely bananas. Why would anybody be willing to pay you such a rate? Do you believe that you deserve over $1 to have written this post? If anybody is interested in hiring a writer, they'd be better off hiring almost anybody judging by your post history. In fact, I would work for a cheaper rate and do a much better job. Plus on top of all of this, you have negative feedback for lying and potentially creating an environment to scam. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk, it is not looking good for somebody looking to acquire a Six-figure income from working full-time typing up work for $50+ per hour; you'll have to do better than this if you are expecting any tangible results. Most good writers do not even get paid this amount, so I would make my final suggestion(s) to lower your asking rate for your service, provide past work in a portfolio and put more effort into your sales thread. If you cannot do these things, then enjoy the silence and don't say I didn't warn you.

You would honestly have options if you showed any creativity, skill or improved upon your posting habits.
2070  Other / Meta / Re: Is this acceptable use for the merit system? on: April 13, 2018, 12:46:52 AM
You're absolutely right, I'm locking my thread (in the services section) right away. Should have asked first, hope I don't get my overview thread locked because of my mistake.

Oh great, now I don't even get a thank you for being the first one to bring this to attention. Way to go, eternalgloom, my heart is officially broken. If only I had linked to it, then I would have received the thanks I so desperately yearn for. I suppose the laziness of my omission has lead to my downfall, Well-Played, Welsh. I concede this victory, but it shall not go unpunished!
2071  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: *********ENGLISH FOR EVERYONE ******** on: April 13, 2018, 12:43:04 AM
If we're being honest I don't see many people around here complaining about people using poor English skills. I definitely acknowledge that there are a very small minority of users that get upset about this kind of thing, but regularly they are hypocrites; being awful at English, themselves. I wouldn't worry a great deal about anyone judging your English skills. The entire point of communicating in a common language is to get whatever idea or information is in your head into my head; as long as you are able to do that, then I'd say you are speaking English successfully. Your English is not that well-spoken, but I can still understand what you are trying to so for the most part. Of course, it is always a good thing to attempt to improve yourself in anyway you see fit. Anyone that has "scolded" you, is probably an asshole.

The best way to learn English is to speak it, reading it will be a good way to grasp a foundational flow of the language, however books will not complete your journey into fluent English.
2072  Other / Meta / Re: Is this acceptable use for the merit system? on: April 12, 2018, 04:39:41 PM
I think giving incentive to post in a thread is against the rules. I've seen threads get locked for giving out merit for posting in their thread. I've seen threads get trashed when people give away merit for free as long as the person posts within the thread, because it is giving an incentive to post in a particular thread. "Earn Merit by Leaving a Comment on my Thread" Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but this is just my personal opinion/interpretation.
2073  Other / Meta / Re: Any issue with two accounts sharing the same computer(IP) ? on: April 11, 2018, 12:41:09 PM
You won't be automatically banned if someone on the same IP is banned. IP addresses are pretty poor identifiers. In certain countries it is very common for different people in the same general region to share IPs a lot, and even two veteran forum users in the same US state are quite likely to share an IP address somewhere in their IP history.

But if you evade a ban, your alts will eventually be found through manual investigation.

That's very reasonable. That's basically what I had assumed. You are no fool, theymos, and I was pretty sure I would have no problem with how you view these situations. I remember I played an MMORPG about 10-years ago and they wanted to ban a single hacker from Brazil, but what ended up happening is an accidental ban of multiple others. This was due to the situation you describe, and so I'm happy that you acknowledge how poor of an identifier IP addresses are.

The italics around "automatically" do tell me that accounts sharing the same IP will be under sure scrutiny, unless I've read the implications incorrectly. It might be redundant to even say that, but thanks for the clarification - straight from the horse's mouth.
2074  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: BUY ALL BITCOIN ETHEREUM LITECOIN on: April 11, 2018, 12:24:42 AM
Why are you paying anything above the market price? There is no shortage of people or Bitcoin that are ready to be sold to you. It does not matter where you are based, unless you are planning to do face-to-face transactions. If this is the case, then people would be better off saving the money on their plane ticket and simply selling it at market price. This just sounds like a tremendous waste of time, without explanation and is clearly "too good to be true.". Anybody could purchase any amount of BTC they can afford and make a 20% profit on their capital by selling it to you. This makes no sense, and without a good explanation everyone is going to automatically assume you are a scammer.
2075  Other / Meta / Re: Any issue with two accounts sharing the same computer(IP) ? on: April 10, 2018, 11:54:54 PM
If one of the accounts get banned for what ever reason though expect the other one too as well.

Can you please provide any examples of this happening in the past? I am curious about this, because if this is the case then it would seem to a hazard to use public/shared VPN(s), TOR nodes or anything like that. I don't believe that they simply would ban an account because it shares an IP with an offender. Otherwise, paying a fee for an "evil" IP would probably not be implemented, either.

I want to read up on some more official statements surrounding this issue.
2076  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (Round 6) on: April 10, 2018, 11:43:35 PM
I'll take a look into that, it's very possible that I missed a merit point. I could have sworn I went back and fulfilled all of my "obligations", but of course I may have missed one I suppose. That does make me feel less strange, in fact, now I feel almost normal. If I remember correctly, I did give you a merit for your placement in a prior round, on the 1st or 2nd of the month. I thought that was for round 4, second place, but I've been wrong before and we'll see.
2077  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FREE TWITTER REAUDIT on: April 10, 2018, 11:35:07 PM
This happens all of the time, and I'm starting to become curious why it is constantly popping up in this board. This is not the correct section for this service to be posted in. You need to post this thread in the Service section, or I would expect to have this thread deleted. You can either move the thread yourself in the bottom left-hand corner of the thread, or you can report the thread to moderators and request that they move it to the correct board. Alternatively, you can lock this thread and begin a new thread in the Service board, if none of these other options work for you.

If you continue to operate in this section though, you are violating the rules and I wouldn't expect it to stand for very long. Take a peak at this thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 , there are many boards that are described in their intentions and which type of threads belong there.
2078  Other / Off-topic / Re: sMerit Post-Review on: April 10, 2018, 11:27:50 PM

Your first submission is nothing that hasn't been said a million times. I almost just zoned it out while reading it, because it's almost like there's a bot-form of lower-ranking accounts making slight variants of the same posts/threads. The other submission is the 400th+ reply in a megathread, so I'm going to have to decline your submissions.

To me that post is extremely hard to follow, but the main point seems to be "Have a good attitude towards Altcoins." That's not really something I think is worth merit. Most altcoins are absolutely awful, pump-and-dump money-grabbing scams that offer nothing except for manipulation in the market temporarily.

This has already been discussed and you have already received merit for this post. I'm going to leave your submission at that.

Answering someone's question about KYC isn't something that I'm planning to merit anytime soon. I don't generally hand out merit for economic speculation, but I will say that it was an interesting read at least. I hope that you are correct, but I've found that cryptocurrency speculation is notoriously "hit or miss." You've already received a few merits, and so I will leave your submissions without merit at this time. Although, you seem like you put the right kind of effort and thought into your posts.

Side-Note : A lot of people tell me thank-you, but I honestly don't know if they're truly thankful or if they believe that it makes them more likely to receive merit. Maybe people are more polite than I give them credit for.
2079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Exchanging BTC > ETH & ETH > BTC on: April 10, 2018, 08:45:48 PM
Yes, I was actually referring to your post, but by the time my internet allowed the post to go through apparently you had deleted your request and thrown it in it's own thread. I would love to fulfill this for you, but I cannot access my wallets or exchange accounts due to the extremely restricted internet access I am currently dealing with. I apologize for being a goober and having issues the minute you needed an exchange. If you are still in need once I have things sorted, then I will gladly take care of it for you.
2080  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (Round 6) on: April 10, 2018, 03:03:35 PM
It feels very strange for me to see the winners announced and not have any merits to dish out. I'm probably going to end up reviewing some posts and hopefully I find a couple of posts worth meriting anyways. It's become somewhat of an addiction to sift through posts, finding interesting threads to get involved in, build up and potentially merit.

Congratulations to all of the winners, you are the first to be looked at when I get the chance.
