2161  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What kind of GPU do you need to mine even a small amount of BTC? on: May 19, 2014, 10:21:11 PM
I am working on a research project but I don't think I have the required hashing power to actually mine any BTC to get data off of. So I am looking at getting a new desktop with some powerful GPUs to mine BTC but I am unsure how many GPUs or what GPUs I would need to get about 0.01 BTC every 24 hours. I am not concerned with electricity cost or overall profitability, just on getting some data about BTC for a documentary. So what would I need?

GPU mining is dead..

You're going to need atleast 195 GH/s to produce .01 BTC a day (at current difficulty)..

Well that explains why my current setup isn't working. But it offers hope for the future, it looks like there are a few GPUs out there that can put out that much power for a relatively low price. Thank you! That is a lot of help!

And you'll need commercial power and deep pockets to reach that goal. S1's are cheap and 350-450 watts for 180-195 GH/s.
2162  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new to mining please help on: May 19, 2014, 04:35:28 AM
honestly i have no idea what type of coin i would want to mine what types of coins are some people using and what are you generating

I suggest a little more research before spending money. You need to be able to use your miners on the coins you want to mine. Read around the forums, plenty of threads and good advice there.
http://www.coinwarz.com/  This will give you a rough idea of what is going on and how fast things change.
2163  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new to mining please help on: May 19, 2014, 03:53:57 AM

Are those coins Sha256?
2164  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new to mining please help on: May 19, 2014, 03:45:48 AM
So I have finally started doing the research on bitcoin mining and i was wondering if this is even at all worth it in terms of long term investment of past a year

I've came across the antminer s1 for roughly $200 and i would probably invest in 5 units off the bat but i wanted to know how much it would generate i understand that i would rather not mine for bitcoin but exchange it to bitcoin because of difficulty and my kwh price where i live is .9-.10 <20kw

I just want to see if this is worth investing into. Please do chime in.

What exactly are you planning to mine with them? Profit calculators are easy to find.

0.024 btc micro loan avaliable

Need colleteral.

Third party escrow is needed here, please add to your OP.
2166  Economy / Lending / Re: Loans Available 24/7 on: May 18, 2014, 04:07:28 PM
coins can be held by a third party.

You need to add this to your OP. With your Newbie account and lack of any credentials, it is must that third party escrow is used.
2167  Economy / Lending / Re: Looks for small loan ( 0.0775 BTC ) on: May 18, 2014, 11:40:06 AM
if you give collateral then I will give you, but without collateral cant.

I will accept alt coins as a collateral.

If I wished my Darkcoin to sell I would not ask. And too much collateral scam lately.  Sad

if you have collateral then we will use 3rd party escrow for collateral so there will not be any scam.

Like I say I do not want to remove or sell my Darkcoin.

I asking for small amount. If I was bad guy I could sell mine account with positive trust for more than 0.0775 BTC. Amount is what my miner earn in less than of 4 days.

If you cannot lend, fine. Maybe someone else. If no one, OK. I just wait longer to get the PSU and lose a little mining time. Though I wish for loan so this not problem.

So, you want someone else to take all the risk. YOU want the loan, YOU have to assume any risk. Plenty of successful escrow/collateral deals made daily so not wanting to escrow your collateral is frankly BS.
If you don't want to go that route, take your plan B, wait and lock this thread.

Can not chargeback Smiley

Yes you can.
2169  Other / Meta / Re: Neg rep. Trust abuse. on: May 17, 2014, 05:06:38 PM
Yes, I would have liked to sell this account in a future, with some positive trust from the loans. I bought it "cheap" trying to flip it soon for more. You made it hard sincerely. It seems you don't like others make some BTC in the way they can. Buying and selling accounts is a honest way to earn BTC even if you don't agree.

Buying and selling accounts is not the problem here. As it was allready mentioned: you are trying to buy trust. Which Vod prevented to his abilities. If you are trading with someone that has an account labeled "Hero Member" - registered sometime 2010, would you trust that person more or less than a "Newbie" that registered last week?
Trust can not be bought, but only earned, can not be proven but only disproven.

I don't know when I tried to buy trust, I was happy with my 0 trust.
I'll repeat what was said again many times: a newbie with 0 Trust (capital T), isn't as trustworthy as a Sr. member with 0 trust. Trust (capital T) isn't the only thing that comes into determining ones reputation.

I'll repeat again too that if I wanted to sell this account now, I CANT because of the neg trust.

If you only bought to resell, you may want to rethink your business model. You may as well lock this thread as you have your answers but you just don't like them.

2171  Economy / Lending / Re: loan needed on: May 17, 2014, 12:34:37 PM
I'm sorry you guys have little faith in an honest person.

As far as the equipment:

7x block erupter blades
Gtx 770
4x Block erupter USB
Back plane & Power supply

Scam thread is full of people who said the same thing.

And you need to answer:

I am in need of a loan of ~.4 BTC. I know that I am a newbie but that is because I don't have a lot of time to spend on forums. I can promise you that I am not a scam. I am willing to offer up some of my mining equipment as collateral for the loan. Also, I can devote some of the hashing power to a pool of your choosing.

Unless you are sending the collateral to be held in escrow for the duration of the loan, it isn't collateral.

Hi all,

I'm having a problem connecting to be able to configuring my Antminer S1.
I can't seem to find the Ip address for it.
I've connected the Antminer to my Desktop via ethernet cable to config and no luck.
I then connected the Antminer to my router and downloaded Ip address search software to find the IP address for the Antminer and nothing has come up.
i've turned off firewall on the router and the desktop.
All the lights on the Antminer are turn on.

i'm thinking i need to reset it. really no idea.

Any help would be much appreciated

regards
Rafmed

Is there not a sticker with the IP on it?

2179  Other / Meta / Re: phishing emails from bitcointaik.org on: May 14, 2014, 09:36:03 PM
How do you think they got your email to begin with?

they didnt get his email. it was a forum inbox message

these things happen alot. in the past it has been found that scammers prep their list of 'marks' by asking forum topic questions such as:
"how much bitcoin do you own"
"what wallet software do you use"
etc

these info gathering games are what scammers do to target the right people. after all there is no point phishing someone if they only have satoshi dust to their name. and theres no point entering into conversation with them to tempt them to download trojans if the scammers code is not compatible with the victims wallet.

so usually scam emails and private messages are targetted to the victim, because the victim has made some form of admission that he is worthy of being scammed. either admitting wealth, admitting he runs a wallet that is compatable to a certain tojan or the fact that the victim admits to not have 2FA on their other logins or lastly, they have been scammed before so are proving to be an easy 'mark'

Winner winner chicken dinner!
2180  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Anyone using Teamviewer? on: May 14, 2014, 07:56:12 PM
Hi friend. Can I make a suggestion?
It may be worth a security shakedown before going any further. Teamviewer can open you to intrusion and possibly theft. It does not necessarily do that, but consider that TV allows others to remotely control your PC. Be careful. I also suggest not posting your account login info on the internet. It would be easy to determine your ISP and take your account. You may know all this and have a plan. But just in case I thought I would give you a heads up.
-Cheers

Ok, thank you very much for warning me. I know it's a little risky to allow a strange to use my computer, but TV lets the person use remotely only while I'm allowing to do so, correct? By the way, I reset my miner and got it working... Well, at least connecting to the interface via browser, though I still can't connect to the internet to start mining.
Can you help me via TV? Please!

Have you tried the simple YT video? What all have you tried?
