3201  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Sorry, More rant about BFL (My story) on: October 23, 2013, 02:32:25 PM
If every poor SOB with a bad BFL experience started a thread in this forum it would fill 20+ pages of different thread rants.

This should be posted in the general thread of "BFL fucks us over again" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150803.0

I think there should be a section that is specific to hardware for complaints.

About Us

The Wasp Project is owned and managed by it's members. Whether we are customers, employees or simply members in good standing our co-operatives acts together to build a stronger community and in the process a better world. We are currently foccused on helping the Bitcoin and alternative cryptocurrencies by working together to provide solutions for these communities. As a group which decided to look at the community first projects that are open source and we are excited to be working together to bring about much needed change.

Guiding Principles

The Wasp Project, has accepted seven principles that guide all cooperative organizations:

Voluntary and open membership
Democratic member control
Member economic participation
Autonomy and independence
Education, training and information
Co-operation among co-operatives and like minded projects in the Bitcoin community
Concern for community

Balanced Job Complexes

Our project uses job complexes which are organized so that every member will be regularly involved in both conception and execution of tasks, with comparable empowerment and quality of life circumstances for all. The precision of the balance depends on many factors, and would improve over time. At any rate, no individual would ever permanently occupy a position that would present himself/herself unusual opportunities to accumulate undue influence or knowledge. Every individual is welcomed to occupy a position that guarantee's him or her an appropriate amount of empowering tasks.

In essence, the human cost and benefit of work would be equally distributed. We share the work and spread it around throughout the coop. We, as members, are free to choose to work on any project and learn from mentors to help support the development of the project.

Greater personal sacrifice made in the production of socially beneficial goods and services is legitimate grounds for greater access to those goods and services if the members agree. This idea allows our members the widest range of teaching/learning internships within the Wasp Project. We learn to be generalists not specialists so that we can better ourselves and others.

Areas of Economic Interest

As Wasp Project members we are interested in a number of diverse areas related to Bitcoin and alternative cryptocurrencies. The list includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Mining
Mining Hardware
Mining Hardware Accessories
Mining Hardware ASIC Chip Development
Mining Hardware ASIC Board Development
Mining Software Development
Cryptocurrency Exchange
Cryptocurrency Online Escrow Services
Cryptocurrency E-Commerce
Mining Pools

Time to edit this meme. October and still at least 6 months behind... ouch.
3206  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [The Wasp] 28nm ASIC Miner Open Hardware Development Project on: October 23, 2013, 12:17:34 PM
The Hives (Mother Planes)

* On board USB hub with a port for each blade. Upstream port connects to linux board or box. At least one extra port for potential billboard display or local display & cooling-controller.

* On board 24-pin and 6/8 pin connectors for PC power supply (650-750W) provides 3.3, 5, and 12 V.

* Last blade connector can accept a server power supply (12V only) for higher power operation, not needed when system is tuned for low-power consumption, or when it has fewer than a full load of blades.

* 8 available connection points for the Wasps.

* Any Wasp no matter of the chips will work with the Hives.

* All blades driven through USB hub.

* Stand-alone hive is just a small card with sockets for power and USB.

* Hot swap.

* Linux embedded system to run cgminer/bfgminer bolts right down onto big mobo.

The Wasps (Blades)

* Wasps can slot into mother plane.

* Wasps can stand alone and be stacked FPGA style.

* Wasps are made to fit the Hive form factor.

* Wasps can be independently powered and controlled without mother plane.
3207  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Sorry, More rant about BFL (My story) on: October 23, 2013, 11:56:25 AM
when they offer to build a mining card then turn around and state that it is only meant to have two run within a server unit not with 4 or 6 like people with current GPUs expect

When they charge customers 200+ for OVN shipping but it only costs 50-80 dollars

You say it wasn't about ROI then why did you rebuy and not just hold in cold storage?

I wanted to try and stay relevant to the difficulty, So I was earning as much as possible, This was bought before the announcement of PH's being released by other companies.

If I am stuck with a monarch, so be it, My fear is, They will revert my order and I will get two usless singles.

What do you think the company should do to resolve this problem?
3208  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Time to sue ButterflyLabs - Big Single-SC owner let's league for class action on: October 23, 2013, 07:32:19 AM
Darin, you really need to seek help.  You are in contact with children on a daily basis and you are unstable and delusional.  I honestly fear for the children you are in charge of.  You see me in every poster on this forum.  You disbelieve benign government websites like the FCC's (You probably think I somehow hacked into the FCC's DB and changed things, no doubt.).  You are one screwed up individual man.  It's no wonder you had to travel to Asia to start your own school, no Canadian or US institution would allow you within 250 feet of a child after seeing your mental evaluation scores.

That weirdo work with children ?!?  Shocked
In Asia...yeah...yeah...ok...i have the picture now...

Yeah, check this out: http://www.canadianmontessori.org/about.html

Click the mail to link on the top.  Guess who's name pops up... and the whois registration for the domain, you guessed it, our friend Darin Bicknell.  Talk about frightening.  He couldn't get approved in Canada (I suspect because of his legal problems) and decided to move somewhere with less stringent laws governing people such as himself coming in contact with children.  I believe his wife is listed as the "owner" of the school, which is probably why he was able to pass a background check to get the place started.  For bonus points, check out his video's on Youtube.  Dude is classic coiled spring waiting to go off.

3209  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Time to sue ButterflyLabs - Big Single-SC owner let's league for class action on: October 23, 2013, 07:09:26 AM
if you sue - you only get the damages lost - there is no way to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that mining income had been lost and furthermore to identify what that exact amount of mining revenue is.  There is no way to prove the value of the income lost because they would need to establish a bona fide shipping date within the receipt terms...it wasn't.  The law makes judgments and issues punitive damages on past proven figures...not subjective speculations - as someone here points out earlier, you only see your money refunded to you...not the speculated gains that could have been mined and/or sold.  I am no lawyer...that was just my opinion at work.

Seems like someone should investigate the link between the pool Inaba runs and BFL shipping delays. Sort of like GM making a car driving it around for 12 months and then rolling back the odometer and saying it is a new car right?
3210  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Time to sue ButterflyLabs - Big Single-SC owner let's league for class action on: October 23, 2013, 06:15:50 AM
BFL is the easier target and people really need to look at making the FBI aware of Inaba's pool operations and BFL... maybe they need to look at money laundering?
3211  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Reliable? on: October 23, 2013, 06:10:42 AM
Still waiting... 6 months behind.
3212  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Once again, Holy difficulty jump, Batman!!!! on: October 23, 2013, 05:57:24 AM
And people complain because they are losing money......never ceases to amaze.  If you didn't see this coming, you have no one to blame but yourself. It has been covered extensively for months..(almost a year at this point) that this would happen.

The real kick in the teeth is that people have been waiting for many months (or over a year) for hardware that was promised to have shipped long ago - when it was going to be worth something!  This difficulty rise is just pouring salt in the wounds for many people...

Alas, the ability to print money is relegated to the rich yet again...  go figure.

Another way of looking at that is it was THEFT. A company had produced the unit, mined with it and then shipped 12 months late by any definition that is theft.
3213  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who here already pre-ordered the Monarch 28 nm Bitcoin mining card ??? on: October 23, 2013, 05:15:07 AM
The Monarch is vaporware. Where is there ANY evidence of the designs for the chip and PCIe board?

If you pre-ordered this you are effectively risking a very very very long wait just to get to a prototype and the specifications are pure fiction as there has yet to be any engineering done on this product. It is vaporware, imaginary, speculative and not worth anything at this point as there is nothing on the drawing board. Who is doing the design for the chips, the PCB? Do they have the know how and experience? Why would any put money down on this?

You're kinda like the CEO of BPM aren't you?  Love the example you're setting for how a CEO should treat their competition. <not>

What is BPM? CEO? Where did you get that information.

There is no such thing as the BPMC at this point in time. I was no more than a member of a group of like minded individuals attempting to make reasonably priced miners for the community and fortunately we as a group were successful in that bringing the RedFury USB to the community. As the group has split some members are still fabricating the RedFury and BlueFury USB miners and I wish them the best of luck but I was never the CEO of anything. How about we look at what you are not telling people about me and BFL.

1. The group I worked with refunded everyone's BTC in 1 week without incident when our 11,000 K1 Nano's production run was cancelled by our group.
2. The same group has produced and shipped RedFury USB Mining units without incident and others from that group are now shipping 1800 BlueFury USB units.
3. I have vociferously questioned the ethics of Inaba primarily based on the trust rating he gave me and the group I worked with which is defamatory.
4. BFL has failed to deliver to spec and on time with their FPGA's and ASIC's this could easily mean that the Monarch will also be under spec and very late.

Ok so now we are on the same page let me ask you this point blank.

Where is there ANY evidence they have a chip on the design board?
Who is designing the BFL Monarch chip?
Is the designer in house at BFL?
Where are the designs?
When did they promise the tape out?
Have they taped out?
How long is the Monarch now delayed?
How can they justify a design and mockup pci-e mining card without having any detailed information on the chips first given the issues associated with this sort of design?

You would have to provide evidence they have a design for this chip to make any impression on this community. Just because they SAY it is going to be taped out doesn't mean they are doing anything. There is ZERO evidence to support that given their history and failure to provide any substantial evidence they have a design team in house and are working currently on the Monarch.

I suspect that anyone who unfortunately made the choice to "pre-order" a Monarch will be sadly disappointed given BFL's past record for ineffective design, missed specs and delivery and then their outright refusal to follow FTC regulation with regards to refunds means people have no recourse to get their money back if they fail to deliver the units. If stating the facts is a somehow a bad example then I suspect you are shill for BFL and are more concerned promoting BFL products at the expense of the community. Shame on you for attempting to deflect the focus from the lack of proof about the chip development and on to me which has little or nothing to do with this thread.

If you have ordered a Monarch then I would suggest, IMHO, that you get an immediate refund as there is absolutely no evidence that this chip is even being designed, therefore I would submit that the Monarch is actually vapourware and if it ever does get to a prototype phase it will be even later than current estimates that BFL posted. I think the FBI should get involved and check into money laundering at BFL and Inaba's mining pool don't you as that might explain how they are able to keep this failed company going. I doubt anyone in their right mind will be ordering Monarch's at this point.
3214  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: BFL charges about $300 for shipping & actual cost is $53.95 on: October 23, 2013, 04:55:37 AM
Don't even get me started about the  safety and fire issues related to their PSU

Ouch, you had it worse than me. At least my product works -- even though they mined all the good mine out of it the 6 months prior to me receiving it.

I am curious though, which PSU do you have and what were your concerns? The one I received looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/lSwkhSb.jpg (link instead because the image is HUGE)

Evidence to support BFL mined with your hardware because that is theft is it not?
3215  Other / Off-topic / Re: Inaba - The biggest scum bag on these forums? on: October 23, 2013, 04:53:59 AM
At some point this guy will be dragged into a court and have to defend himself for his actions. I am surprised that the FBI is not investigating his pool and mining operations for money laundering yet.
3216  Other / Off-topic / Re: A BFL ASIC 1000 BTC bet that looks like Inaba lost on: October 23, 2013, 04:51:09 AM
Still hasn't paid off the bet.
3217  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "BlackArrow" ASIC's, Trustable? on: October 23, 2013, 04:34:27 AM
DZ - I wouldn't even bother replying to eroxors, he's nothing but a troll, just looking to make trouble.  There are no answers you can give him that will "satisfy" his trolling.  Let me suggest that you examine a few of his past posts.

He has no clue that your GB involves BA only because they're the ones fabbing your boards with the Bitfury chips the GB organizers bought and sent to them.

No... I'm in a bad mood.

Also, I'm simply replying to the OP's question. In my opinion, there are very few "trustable" operations. Clearly you and DZ are business partners, you may very well be legit, but I'm not giving you the benefit of the doubt. Your accounts are both new. What have you actually sold? Have you had successful transactions with members of the forums that will vouch for you? These are things to consider.
I have over 20k in customers equipment currently in my warehouse (minimum). Im about to receive ~300 16 chip BF boards, I have serveral signed agreements with Black Arrow, My business information AND number are publicly available, and I dont sleep, so Im happy to talk to pretty much anyone about anything.

And the fabbing/chips is not true, so please re read the thread. I paid for the Chips AND Assembly out of my pocket, and neither minersource or the GB by DZ will be paying me until I deliver these boards (as per my agreements with them). Thats how they can offer the prices they do, and the refund guarantee that they do. I wont get a cent of anyones money until I have taken delivery, and have started shipping. If this does not happen on or before Friday the 1st of NOvember (as stated in many many places) anyone who wishes to have a refund will get one, as none of the pre-order money will have been spent. Consider it a escrow of sorts to make sure I deliver.

You had me at "I PAID FOR CHIPS & ASSEMBLY OUT OF MY POCKET."

We can obviously wait for those who ordered to get their units or we can also wait, if there is a failure to deliver on time, for quick and responsible refunds. I suspect that if everyone did business this way then there would be fewer problems. Given what I know I am pretty confident about bobsag3 delivering either on time or a full refund without any long drawn out BS and that has little to do with his time on the forums and age of his account or number of posts. People can do the leg work and check out bobsag3 operation and see whether or not it is legit. Basing your evaluation on age of an account on these forums or dealings with other members on the forum is not the minimum one should do when dealing with people on these forums you have to go beyond that. I would take more value from the total number of complaints and bashing threads about a company or member in this forum. For example take a look at the volume and variety of bashing of BFL / Avalon vs. that of KNC, bobsag3 etc. The negativity that the community projects onto some in these forums is definitely warranted. Bobsag3 and his outfit hasn't garnered any negative feedback yet from what I can ascertain and that does mean alot.

Don't worry..after the Monarch he will be able to upgrade to the Brooklyn bridge

Code:
George C. Parker

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

George Parker (1870–1936) was one of the most audacious con men in American history.
He made his living selling New York's public landmarks to unwary tourists.
His favorite object for sale was the Brooklyn Bridge, which he sold twice a week for years.
He convinced his marks that they could make a fortune by controlling access to the roadway.
More than once police had to roust naive buyers from the bridge as they tried to erect toll barriers.

Code:
Butterfly Labs

Soon to be on Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Butterfly Labs (2012–2014) was one of the most audacious long con "companies" in Bitcoin history.
They made their living pre-selling Bitcoin mining hardware to unwary community members.
Their favorite object for sale was revolving 'new mining hardware', which were pre-sold every
few months for the years they were in operation. BFL convinced their marks that they could make a
reasonable "ROI" by pre-ordering hardware, that was delivered in some case 12 months late.
More than once the community had to start threads and warn naive buyers from
buying BFL products as they continued to buy units that were merely vapourware,
and were hard pressed to get refunds from PayPal, Credit Cards and rarely if ever if they paid in
BTC or wire transfer, in direct conflict with FTC regulation.

They definitely need to review their Ads.

How do you add someone to your "Trust Network"?

Got to your profile, then click on "Trust" (just below "local time" and "language"), then click on "Trust Settings" (near the top of the page). You should see a text box. Type user names into the box, one user per line, then click the "update" button to add them to your trust network.

I added you to my network.
