1281  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: btc volaitlity and price also the eth and others on: October 16, 2020, 08:04:30 PM
This is a dream that we can never have simply because all of us wants to benefit with bitcoin, accept the fact that it isn't a currency anymore as it was designed to work for, it is an investment now, a back up and a new class of storing wealth. In short, we cannot solve the fluctuation of bitcoin as long as people are trading it, if you gonna spend bitcoins forget about the word 'regret' coz you will really feel it at some point.
1282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Best Bitcoin Banks of 2020 on: October 16, 2020, 06:46:28 PM
Banking your cryptocurrencies defeats the very essence of having cryptocurrency in the first place, decentralized network puts into centralized network does not sound too well to me honestly. I don't wanna blame people for having bank or their currency though, they choose it because they see something else more than what  we see. However I don't suggest  letting your cryptocurrencies just sleep in another's arm!
1283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The rise of BCH on: October 15, 2020, 06:52:31 PM
I have Bitcoin Cash in my portfolio, I've been holding it for quite some time, I like its performance but I have a target price for it before selling. One that I hate about it is the destabilization of its network making the volatility rate insane sometimes although it has more scaling ability than bitcoin still the branding of bitcoin cash isn't that ideal for many people who was early adopters of bitcoin. If the price hits $400 I'm selling it  Cool
1284  Economy / Economics / Re: Best Solution for taxes on: October 15, 2020, 04:58:28 PM
Yeah, pay up your taxes, be a decent human being and contribute to the society, we need more good personality.

Tax evasion is a draw back to the economy.
This isn't about tax evading, OP suggested a new method of getting tax by the government which most of us think that will not work since there is more offline transaction than online transaction. We all want transparency due to massive corruption every where in the government, but the idea is vaguely pronounced. I guess it will not work.

A country that is friendly with bitcoin and charge tax in bitcoin is more secured to get citizens to pay because blockchain is open to everyone access.
Taxing bitcoin isn't friendly at all, imagine making a profit out of it from a long term holding and you need to pay for taxes  Cheesy
1285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do mixing companies want stolen bitcoins? on: October 15, 2020, 04:20:15 PM
Mixing isn't made or this purpose, it is just that criminals find it a very easy way to get out and leave no shadow behind. Does mixing companies want stolen bitcoins? Basically, NO, who wants to be involved in a crime at all? Besides, I don't think mixing companies would not be that too reliable or the authorities to investigate, how are they going to know who tried to mixed a stolen $100K from an exchange?
1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Former P&O Cruise Ship now named 'Satoshi' on: October 15, 2020, 03:19:17 PM
Okay now let's change the phenomenal phrase " When Lambo?" to " When to ride SatoSHIP?"  Grin from reading the news that was out days ago, it is not confirmed yet, it is still a plan for now which will make sense in the future since cryptocurrencies are being in demand now especially for wealth people. If this cruise ship will be a floating community for crypto, all amenities will accept crypto as payment, onboarding pass is encrypted and all you need is phone to ride it then it will definitely become a new dream of all of us!
1287  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: October 14, 2020, 06:47:20 PM
“The Dallas Mavericks are going to be at the head of the line in pursuing Giannis. They want to have a third star. They want to keep their books clear for 2021, I wouldn’t expect them to add any major free agents this year. They’re going to wait.” Windhorst reported
https://www.thesportsrush.com/nba-news-dallas-mavericks-leading-the-way-to-sign-giannis-antetokounmpo-bucks-star-could-join-forces-with-luka-doncic/

This will really be a huge trio of indeed they get Giannis on the team, I think this will come into reality especially if Mark Cuban do made a great and tempting deal to Giannis. Any thoughts?
Seeing Giannis unfollowing his teammates after an upset loss makes me think that he is really into getting the ring and not the money that being offered to him. Giannis wants the ring as early as he can and so Luka does too, so if there will be an offer for Giannis to join the Mavs I doubt he will put it on the last of his list. If I'm Giannis I'll definitely join Luka or Irvin in a team securing some spots for the next season playoffs.
1288  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is bitcoin just for investors on: October 14, 2020, 06:29:34 PM
Well.. bitcoin is certainly not for investors. There are a lot of local businesses that accept bitcoin and some people actually prefer to pay with it even if it is just for the privacy feature.
You mean not ONLY for investors right? Well definitely bitcoin is for everyone no matter what the individual case is investors, businessman, CEO, etc. there is no restriction in using bitcoin unless your country did prohibit it lol.

Bitcoin is still in an early phase and does not YET benefit from massive institutional liquidity like commodities or forex pairs. This is why we see these sometimes violent price swings. Due to the scarcity of Bitcoins it is not likely that we'll see BTC at these prices when institutions will pour their money into the market.
Violent price swings? I don't think violent is the right word for mix mass speculation, it will be only violent to you when you expect misaligned to the outcome such as investing then opposite direction movement happens. Scarcity of bitcoin, low limited supply will enable it to soar up high in the future.
1289  Economy / Economics / Re: Wipe out on crypto vs wipe out on stock market? on: October 13, 2020, 09:18:44 PM
I would say wipe out in stock market could be even worse because you can be in debt in stock market versus only can trade with your money in crypto. Obviously you could still get a loan or whatever and trade in crypto as well and lose almost everything (unless there is a scam, you won't lose it all) but the fact is, you still have to put the money in and deal with that money and nothing more.
I agree on this one, some companies offering stock have this so called collateral as their traders can trade with margins. Unlike in crypto that you, yourself are the only owner of your asset BUT, here is the but, the risk is way higher than trading in stocks. On top of that is the scams that is scattered every where, malicious links and lots of errors to learned with. In short Stock market is a zoo while Crypto is a jungle. Which is better? NONE if you know what you're doing.

1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: btc vs ethereum on: October 13, 2020, 07:30:47 PM
Bitcoin and ethereum are entirely different by the way it's been developed. Till date the growth pattern of ethereum takes place following bitcoin. This marks the dependence of ethereum on bitcoin, whereas with bitcoin the entire set of altcoins is an value addition to the cryptocurrency market.
It is noticeable how ethereum follows the price trend of bitcoin giving its titled the queen of cryptocurrencies after bitcoin hailed as the king. But to be honest, if people were more into use cases definitely ethereum would be on top before bitcoin, I imagine things as what it looks like when ethereum is the first born cryptocurrency in the market, would it still be the same as now?

Ethereum as a platform had contributed big to the cryptocurrency market with its increased access for development of more number of applications.
Indeed, dApps and Smart contracts fasten the development of cryptocurrencies. There is no doubt for me that ethereum will be the the cryptocurrency of the future but launch the upgraded version first Vitalik  Cheesy
1291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a high roller? on: October 13, 2020, 06:44:31 PM
I used to be a high-roller when BTC was worth $500 and I had so many BTC0.1 bets at that time, but nowadays, I'm not. And yeah, I used to bet on sports like basketball and cricket rather than going for slots because slots are extremely risky and I'm not that person who would throw away a lot of money just for the sake of entertainment in the casino's bags. Wink

So meaning, high roller also means someone who bets huge amount right? Perhaps, this definition could change in cryptocurrency over time especially bitcoin's value could not be determined in the future as small amount could be high soon just like what happened to your case.
But being a high roller is being a high roller at a time being, I don't think that the definition will change just because we are talking about betting cryptocurrencies. Like for example, it does not make you a high roller now because you bet 1btc way back in 2012 just because the price of bitcoin now is $11k. I don't think that's what a high roller really means.

What if you just don't bet it at all and kept it, I wonder how much it is worth now, perhaps, there should be no regrets as it is our personal decisions, no matter what is the outcome, it is still based on our luck.
Regret is perhaps the most painful thing we could experience with cryptocurrency due to its volatility, driving prices in unimagined ranges, but yeah there should be no regret at all in gambling as decision have been made. All you can do is to do better next time.
1292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Protesters in Nigeria used Bitcoin as alternative of banks as CBN blocked accts. on: October 13, 2020, 06:02:59 PM
Was wondering if this is the case, then how are they going to use the fund they will get? And if the government finds out that his is happening then they will just immediately act on this one preferably banning the use of cryptocurrency especially bitcoin, then they could just arrest every protesters they see on the streets. I don't see anything wrong about this one, but a movement against the government? I'm worried about crypto's state in Nigeria
1293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Covid 19 on: October 12, 2020, 08:28:59 PM
I've been seeing a lot of people getting back here in the forum, with cryptocurrencies in general due to the pandemic some said they don't have any thing to do and so they checking things here lately, and yeah surprisingly they are investing on it again, perfectly coincides with lively DeFi projects these days. But the question is will it still be worthy to invest on bitcoin, my personal opinion is that there is no too late investment with bitcoin BUT being early gives you a lot.
1294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin truly moving forward? on: October 12, 2020, 05:48:04 PM
you are way too confused about "moving forward" and "price always going up". these two are not the same and there is no reason for the price to always go up for you to make profit while doing nothing!
Clearly he is missing this point, if we say moving forward it is a progress, with bitcoin the progress is continuous I can tell as more people are buying and selling it, more adopters, real life cases of bitcoin in different places and we already have bitcoin ATMs. Is bitcoin truly moving forward? Absolutely YES. I think you're confused about these two terms, or you don't mean it coz you got a single interpretation of these two words, but regardless you should know which is which.
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: October 10, 2020, 11:21:18 PM
It's a bad idea teaching old people to use bitcoin. Mostly old people in my country don't know how to use cellphone or computer. But if they knew, what will be in their mind if you introduce bitcoin to them? In news, bitcoin always mention because in our country many investment scam use bitcoin as their mode of payment. Old people always watch news, and if I'll introduce it to them they'll avoid it and think that it is a scam.
Don't try too hard to teach seniors to use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Voluntariness and their desire are important here. Cryptocurrency will gradually be introduced into our world as states legalize it. This process is not that fast and will take a long time. During this period, the old generation will disappear, and the new one will already treat cryptocurrency as ordinary financial means. Therefore, everything will change by itself, so this process should not be accelerated.
It's basically like teaching an old dog a new trick. It's going to be hard, but not impossible. Especially if they have at least an entry-level knowledge of modern technology and online payments, you can make them understand how bitcoin works. Aside from that though, I don't think they'd be investing on it as most of them are really accustomed to the tangible assets that they had in the past.
1296  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: October 10, 2020, 10:42:27 PM
This is so sad and will probably not help at all. They should be trying to fix their economy instead of printing new money. Who is actually going to use such a bill? I saw in a documentary about Venezuela that most stores are not accepting bolivar anymore as a means of payment. Most restaurants and stores only accept USD these. Around 70% of the families have atleast one family member living abroad send money, usually USD to Venezuela.

Venezuela has so many natural resources that the country should be flourishing with the right government. They need to eliminate corruption and make new economic reforms to get back on track.
They would need to this first as carrying a sackload of bolivar would be too inconvenient for the people. At the very least, I can call this their first step towards reclaiming their country's monetary image. For so long they have become the laughingstock when it comes to uselessness of money. I can say this is their first step towards the many in the near future.
1297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin transaction fees be too high in the future? on: October 10, 2020, 09:38:49 PM
It depends on the bitcoin price, if the price goes up then fee s price also increase, also it depends on transaction volume.
Fee increase is inevitable. This is the price to pay with bitcoin's decentralized function. A pretty big one so to speak. But I hope the people working on bitcoin's development somehow find a loophole that would allow us normal investors to transact with bitcoin without the worry of breaking the bank. Coz as of now pretty much we can only hope for the fees to go down is for the price of bitcoin to go down too.
1298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN basher, the Liar 'John McAfee' is finally Arrested on: October 10, 2020, 09:05:29 PM
If John McAfee is found guilty of breaking the law, he should be arrested. But many people are already victims of McAfee,
because they have experienced a loss buying shitcoins that are promoted by McAfee, they will be happy to hear this news.
I admit that McAfee is very smart as a profit maker, with its popularity he can use it to make a profit by promoting several
shitcoins. So I agree if anyone argues that McAfee is not a supporter of cryptocurrency, he only uses cryptocurrency to
generate profit for himself.

Specifically why a lot of people in the cryptocurrency industry hated him apart from his baseless claims regarding bitcoin. Dude prolly hated on bitcoin so much to ensure that his following will focus on the shitcoins he promote with the intent of leeching money to them. Apart from that, I kind of feel bad that he didn't get jailed for those heinous acts though. But nevertheless I am certainly happy that he's going to rot in jail now.
1299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: World 2020 - LoL World Championship on: October 10, 2020, 08:57:00 PM
I didn't really expect that TSM would fall as early as now, omg doublelift's hand kinda rusty I guess compare to chinese and korean players. I'm rooting for SKT since then but  they failed to come up to worlds this year, this kinda sad and then I rooted for TSM at the start then this happened. You guys got any team than TOP?
1300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will $XRP be safe for long term? on: October 10, 2020, 08:12:29 PM
Not sure if people notice, over the whole DEFI wildfire
XRP is not a thing in it, not even a single protocol added XRP or pegged XRP into Erc20
Maybe because eth is more appropriate for these projects since they need smart contracts for different functions. I'm not a hard fan of XRP but it is in my bag for couple of months now, surprisingly the price never gets down to $0.2, I think that's already the bottom of XRP

However despite how "centralized" XRP is, i doubt they will go scam/exit.
They had the opportunity back then, if they are scam they should have done it before.

They seems to be a filthy rich company compare to most of the other project
It MIGHT be safe but price wise its hard to say if it will go up over time or not
It's really hard to say, but the chart says it's quite a good investment next to top coins in the market.
