U19 is the gateway to your international cricket career. I remember we use to watch U19 WC finals but nowadays no one is broadcasting these matches.

From what I heard, Star Sports will be broadcasting some of the matches in India. For other countries the broadcasters are - Sky Sports in New Zealand and United Kingdom, Gazi TV in Bangladesh, Ten Sports in Pakistan, Fox Sports in Australia and SuperSport in South Africa. But I have no idea about how many matches will be shown live. The interest has gone down considerably. Just one more week to go before the opening, and there is hardly any coverage in the mainstream media or in the sports channels.

Main reason is too much cricket. All year we have t20 leagues plus icc tournaments there is hardly any interest left in U19 and domestic cricket. Trend these days is try to make it to any T20 league and from there players are picked for national team that play test and odi.

By now everyone used to have the same mindset watching their own country's game. In group A it looks like England will top the table. In group B India seems to top the table. In group C Pakistan and in group D Sri Lanka/Australia looks like taking the top position. If this happens this way we can see Pakistan playing India by the month end which will be big talk for few weeks or till the tournament gets over.

We have to agree that good old days of odi and test cricket are numbered. The future of cricket is in shorter formet aka T20. On average, you need to spend days on end watching test cricket, in order to get one hour or so of quality play. And that is the reason why viewership figures for test cricket are on the decline. You got it right, real cricket is Test and somewhat ODI. But today's commercial era is fully controlled by advertising media who interest lies in T20 only. Real bowler is one who can find a wicket in Test but in T20 you can get wicket easily even on bad balls. Test series like Ashes are only given some importance rest are just formalities.

Agree here now next generation can read and check videos about these Legendary players, and we are going into new era where just money is priority instead of quality and new formats like Twenty/20, Ten/10 and 100 Leagues producing just robots not quality players so this all is going to be very useless in next few years.

Every format of cricket has its own benefit. It will not be fair to say that people only want to see the shorter format of the games and do not watch one day or test matches. If waqar and Wasim can do that then new players like shaheen and hassan can do that also. But since there is very little test and odi left so such techniques are not much seen. T20 is the future whether we like it or not.

Agree about this every format of cricket is having own benefit but sadly right now we have many things change in life just because of this now many peoples want to stay with short format and have no enough time to sit all day for having any entertainment so just because of this now short formats are having more popularity and better financial benefits for players and organizers just because of this we have some good number of leagues in different countries all having some good results for respective boards, and they are happy to organize them every year instead of having bilateral series which are not good for any party.

After success of t20 now recently we have two more options like 10 leagues and 100 leagues which creating more entertainment and bringing some good number of fans in this community.

In the past we witnessed many legendary fast bowlers, in the 70s sheer pace was the main weapon and then in the 80s swing bowling with pace was the main attraction and Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram introduced reverse swing to world cricket, during the initial stages the rest of teams thought they are manipulating the ball to get reverse swing as no one understood the art.

That being said, the matches are competitive now, earlier majority of the Test matches ended up in a draw or the match will be one sided if you are playing against Australia. Now majority of the teams are competitive and the matches are having results in the past 10 years, that can be contributed to the lack of quality batsman as well  .

One major point to contribute on sorry state of ODI -Reverse-Spin.

Reverse swing and spin is missing from limited overs cricket due to rule change in cricket and not because we have less talented bowlers.

Discard 2 balls system in ODI ( need to increase quality of balls) and you would witness bowlers running riots at the pitch. Likes of Bumrah, Shami, Bhuvi, Ashwin, Shaheen, Starc, Hazelwood etc would make modern day batters their bunny for fun. I might also add that Bhuvi and Strac are last breed of reverse swing.

I am not going to deny that test cricket has its own positives. But the question is whether it is suitable for the majority of the fans or not. My take on test cricket is this - two teams play against each other continuously for 5 days, and even after this there is a chance that the match may end up as a draw. Test matches, especially those being played in the flat surfaces of South Asia are a torture to watch. Anyway, being a working woman, I hardly get a chance to follow test cricket. I guess most of the test cricket fans are either retirees or those who are unemployed, as none of the other demographic groups have that much spare time.
