Andy Murray has still got some zest left in him. He has fallen down to 116 in ranking after his surgery. But I think he is quite fit now and ready to take another tournament in his bag. He has won 3 grand slams and he should do pretty good in this one. I am a huge fan of this guy from the beginning. My wishes are with him.

I am also a fan of Murray and it's nice that he keeps on going and going, but I doubt he will ever win a tournament again. He can complete at a high level for 3-4 matches and that's about it; much more his body can't handle anymore.

Totally agree, while he might be fit he lacks the same level of speed and flexibility
that the top players have. He will certainly win matches but progressing to the latter
stages not to mention winning a major tournament is beyond his current capabilities.
He has done remarkably well to even compete ate the level he does after major surgery.

Yep. I think the 3-4 matches part is key. The reason he won't be likely to progress to the latter parts of a tournament is not so much that he can't compete against the best, it's more the toll it takes on his body having a succession of long matches in a short space of time. For example, to win a men's slam you need to win seven 5-set matches in a fortnight. Murray might be able to beat a top 10 player in a one-off game, but put him in a situation where he has to win 7x3=21 sets in two weeks, and it wouldn't be possible, even if every opponent was ranked outside the top 50.

Yeah, so he is one step already, after winning today, Murray will be facing Pospisil in the round of 16. So let's hope to see another good performance from him and win. It might be difficult as he progresses because of the tougher opponents. But this tournament is good to measure himself against the latter part of the tennis rankings. Hubert Hurkacz is the top seed followed by Carreno-Busta.

Yes this is the case, its obvious though that as Murray progresses the matches
will be tougher, his talent will carry him, he played some magic shots yesterday,
I said on a few occasions "oh yea, he still has it".

I have Carreno Busta and Sonego who is 5th seed against Rune.

Murray won again, vs Pospisil in two set, happy to see him progressing into this tournament and it's a good indication that maybe he is somewhat around 60%-70% of his old self. Nevertheless, still a long way to go for him to reach the semis or finals of this tournament. He will either face top seed Hubert Hurkacz, or Lucas Pouille in the quarterfinals.

Carreno-Busta won, however, Sonego was upset by Rune.

maybe its a sign that the big 3 era could be coming to an end.
I'm sure less than 5 years we will not see them compete again in tennis world

Yes, Federer and Nadal will have to go first, and Djokovic which is the younger of the 3 will be the one. And then we have new set of big 3, most probably Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Zverev. That's how the cycle goes for any sports for that matter, new generations are going to come in and replace the old guard.

Good to see Murray on a winning streak, his last best finished here is runner up, way back in 2007, against Tommy Robredo.

I don't think the new incoming big players will be as good as the outgoing ones. It's a very unusual situation to have three players as good as Federer, Nadal and Djokovic all playing at the same time. They each have 20 slams, which is crazy... but imagine the situation if we'd only had one of these players, without the other two - whoever it was would probably have 30 slams at least, likely more.

And it's unlucky for Murray that he was playing at the same time as these three... of none of them had been there, he would likely have won 10 slams instead of 3.

agree that next three (why do we need three?) will not be the same as Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, but I would like to point out one thing that is most-probably the result of their domination, and the fact that in most GS, all rounds to semi-finals were not that interesting, since you know that tournament has three secured spots in semi-final, and just one player could join these three, and that is that:
- last five US open women finals had more TV viewers than men finals
- men and women share same prizes in tennis (at least on all GS), it is "the one and only sport" where women are paid the same as men

it is due to simple fact that men tennis is not that interesting at the moment, because you already know winners

^^ Just to test the mettle on this tournament, I parlay Gojowczyk, Peter ML + Schnur, Brayden (+3.5), so let's see how it goes.

Good win by Murray, I never thought that he will win against Humbert here, so he perform very well and above expectations, should have put a even a small bet on him.

Ymer vs Busta - very interesting match, I will pass on this match, not that easy to analyse this. As I have said, will test first and see how my bet goes.

Finally, won my first bet after a series of losing streak in tennis.  It's @2.62 odd win.

Carreno-Busta was a close one in the first set, but when I say that Ymer has lost it, it's obviously that Busta will take over the second set.

Karen Khachanov (-3.5) @1.76 is my next bet. And then Alex De Minaur (-2.5) @1.90.

Yes, I agree completely. The men's side of the US Open I didn't really pay any attention to, it was inevitable that Djokovic would get to the final. Even when he was a set down in a lot of matches, there was never any doubt. Even if he went two sets down, I wouldn't have any doubt that he would reach the final. The only real surprise is that he lost the final, which I think is due largely to the pressure he felt at being on the brink of winning all four slams in the same year.

Of course there were some good matches, and some exciting new players coming through... but when you know that Djokovic will beat everyone he plays, it does take away some of the interest.

I don't really agree. I still like Men's tennis more than the Women just because of the pace, the shots they can play, ... Even if you know that somebody of the big 3 will win, I still like to watch it as it is entertaining (most of the times).

It's true that Djokovic is one of the best players in the world so he is supposed to win and that does somewhat effect the mindset of the viewers. But to me him being the best player in the world is the exact reason why I like to see him play. I don't want to nitpick but I think women's open just doesn't bring the same amount of skill that the men's open does.

What keeps me watching is to see how far the next gen players get and if they can overcome the
top 3, like Medvedev did in the U.S open, thats interesting.

I also like the womens side too, its very open with a lot of contenders for titles.
Look at the U.S open this year, 2 names which made the womens side very exciting
playing a really entertaining brand of tennis, Raducanu and Fernandez.

In men, we can say we will have some tough competition between top ranked players like Medvedev Tsitsipas and Zverve but in women side we have some very quick changes because on this side after few top ranked players like Steffi Graf Monica Sales and Martina Hinges only lady with good record in William after her, we have nothing consistent because many are facing some different type issues so here we will not able to have some world-class lady who can stay for long time but again on men side we will be able to have two or three players will stay for very long time on court for their good game.

Male Tennis has been a bit predictable for some time, there are only a handful of players we see in the semi-finals or sometimes in the finals as well. But I have a feeling that this might change in the coming years or two. The senior players are aging fast and it is only a matter of time that the big 3 eras will eventually come to an end. Djokovic is still in very good form but he is aging. Nadal and Federer are kind of out of the picture now and players like Medvedev and Zverev are stepping their game up.

Women's side has always been very interesting to watch, specially now that we have two sensations, Raducanu and Fernandez. And there's no one dominating the game, as we can see there's always a different champion. Yeah, since Williams is no longer in her prime, there's no one that can replace her because so many ladies are upcoming, Osaka could be one, however, her game has deteriorated, there's no one that is consistent.

In the men's its hard to predict, you can also analyze base on the surface that they play. For instance Tsitsipas is known to be good on clay, so it's good to bet on him when he is playing his favorite surface.

@Kemarit I’ll second your analysis about the women’s side, but I feel it’s only a matter of time before we see a consistent champion and I’m eagerly waiting to see who it’ll be. Lastly the men’s side is getting more difficult with each tournament and with Nadal fading away only Djokovic is left from the old guard, and I wonder how long will he be able to keep up against the young talents.

which young talents are you talking about?
all players that we are mentioning (Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas) are above 23 years - Nadal had five RG trophies at that age, they are not that young, although much younger than Djokovic
it is easy to see that there is no new talents in men tennis, maybe Alcaraz would prove me wrong, or Sinner, but I would not count above mentioned three as young talents, they are great players, but certainly not young anymore, and not close to previous top three

Federer and Nadal will have to go first, and Djokovic which is the younger of the 3 will be the one. And then we have new set of big 3, most probably Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Zverev. That's how the cycle goes for any sports for that matter, new generations are going to come in and replace the old guard.

Why not? Before we have McEnroe, Borg and then Lendl. And then we have Sampras, Agassi and Courier. So it's just the era, maybe if Nadal and Federer retires, a new set of big 3 will emerge in the likes of Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Zverev.

And it's unlucky for Murray that he was playing at the same time as these three... of none of them had been there, he would likely have won 10 slams instead of 3.

Sadly it's true, just like in basketball, there are a lot of NBA greats in the 90's. Unfortunately, they played on the era of the greatest, Michael Jordan.

Has anyone watched the J&T Banka Ostrava Open? it doesn't seem so festive, even though I saw there are some famous women like Sakarri and Martincova where she can meet on quarter-final today.
Martincova has won on 16 rounds vs Pavlyuchenkova while Sakarri has won vs Ostapenko on 16 rounds yesterday. I think Sakari will win the match and going to the semifinal.
A few days ago I watched the match between Martincova vs Siniakova but didn't finish it, and this post surprised me a bit because Martincova was able to win and advance to round 16.
Regarding the festivities, women's special tournament often doesn't get much attention, even though when compared to men, winner is often more surprising, especially on major tournament.
Swiatek vs Rybakina both my favorite player, 3 sets very likely.

I watched the game between Sakkari and Ostapenko and Sakkari destroyed Ostpenko in straight 6-2 6-4. For me Sakkari looks really good in this tournament and i think she can even win it if she continues to play like this. Should be an easy win against Martincova in todays match

You are correct they are good players but sadly their timing is also not good even now they are coming out of shadows, and we have something good from their side but still Djokovic and Nadal presence is tough for them and their age for this game is also not as we have last 3 guards because day by day we are losing many things which was unique in past too many players stay 15 to 20 years in court but now injuries and other many issues giving them not time like this they have very short period, so they can't do records like we have from 3 guards in future.

Andy Murray lost in straight sets against Hurkacz No 1 ranked for this tournament in first set Murray done good resistance but in second he was helpless.

Yeah, lots of potential on Sakkari.

Lost my parlay bet on the Metz Open, and regarding Andy Murray march on this tournament, it has ended as he lost to the top seed Hurkacz in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3. So Hurkacz will be facing Gojowczyk in the quarterfinals. Then Carreno-Busta vs Rune on the other hand. I bet both top seeds are going to win in 3 sets.
