Why Ben Simmons to the Boston Celtics is not as wild as it sounds to someYahoo LinkIt might wrankle a certain subset of Boston Celtics fans, but the idea of former Los Angeles Clippers big man Ben Simmons playing for Boston is not as wild as some might seem to think it to be. The Celtics, for their part, are looking for potential diamonds in the rough in what will be a down year for the storied ball club while star forward Jayson Tatum recovers from a torn Achilles tendon. And on the Simmons side of things, the former No. 2 overall pick has tarnished his value -- whether you believe that it is his fault or not -- during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. I don't like it for the Boston Celtics, but they need a good player there in exchange for Tatum while he is still healing. He may not be as productive offensively as Tatum, but a player with ball-handling skills plus the big body for rebounding skills could be a good option for them. Strengthen the defense and let JB do the work on offense. It's not a bad choice, but maybe a short contract will be fine until JT is back. A lift that can provide help for JB, better than nothing and as you mentioned a short contact while JT still recovering, hopefully Simmons will provide them some decent numbers, I see good games from him while playing with clippers unlike when he's still with the Nets, might be possible to give him decent minutes, though he's no longer a offensive type of a player but he got the height and if by chance he can also penetrate to make a basket. Will be depend with how the coach will use him I guess. And more on the mentality side of Ben Simmons, he should really be focusing on his game if he wanted to stay in the NBA. We all know what happened to him in Philly and it seems that he can't get over with it. It's like it's playing in his mind, although in the beginning he was not like that, he has been putting great numbers and even compare to Lebron before. So if he can get over that hump then he will be a good addition to the Celtics team. He can still ball and pass but he should have his confidence back. He was decent in Clippers but he wasn't given enough time though to developed that self-confidence. He is also known to be a good defense, so that is also a big plus for the Boston Celtics.

It's unlikely Ben can improve his skills and become mentally stronger to be in demand among NBA teams. In fact, he ruined his own career in the NBA. Looking at his stats last season, I think he will play a couple more seasons for minimum salary and then finish his career in the NBA.

Like you, I don't see him fit with the Celtics, but if it's a team-friendly contract then adding him will not be a burden at least to the team. A minimum contract should be fine for him. He nowhere near as he is back when he's a Sixer. When he's on the Clippers, he's averaging around 5 APG and 4 RPG per game, and TBH, it isn't enough even for a role player, and if you're the coach, you can't rely on a player like that. The only reason why many are getting him at least for me is his defensive capability. He has a big body, but he can't even use it to get those boards maybe because he doesn't have that much playing time. Overall, I don't see how he will fit with the Celtics, but like what I said, they can just waive him anytime... or who knows. They might put him on the G-league.

There is not a lot to expect for Ben anymore. His career is almost and any contract that he's getting in the league should be taken by him because he knows that he's no longer the same as before. He's still fortunate that there are teams that are signing him to play for them. Overall, I don't see how he will fit with the Celtics, but like what I said, they can just waive him anytime... or who knows. They might put him on the G-league. Maybe that's the plan after all.

Actually, I don’t understand why he still keeps being paid for doing nothing. Clearly his mind is not ready anymore to play on NBA due to the severe back injury rehabilitation that haunt him mentally and physically. I think he should just retired or play on lower league that will help him boost his mental strength when he once gain self confidence.

There are/were so many players on the 1st draft are busted. We should also consider the rooking player on his debut team. Even if you are 5th-10th pick and you are on a team with star players you have a big chance of not getting a good minutes to start. but if you are on a bad team you will more likely to have a great time playing coz they are more willing to sacrifice for you and see your talent at early time.
I can still remember the batch of LBJ and MELO when Detroit pick 2nd and get Milicic! theres Wade, Melo and BOsh and other good players.
Honestly, that wasn't a bad pick and I hate it when people keep talking about it like it was a terrible pick. People forget that Milicic was probably the best Yugoslavian (best team after USA in world of basketball at the time) player at just 18-19 years old. Think about it, he was basically like the centre position Doncic, we have seen Doncic be awesome and MVP at Euroleague before he came into the league, and look how awesome he is. The belief was that Milicic would be the same, Pistons was already a team that was on their way to win the whole league, so they were already a pretty established team, they were looking for someone who could bring something different, and Milicic was that player. Unfortunately, he didn't pan out the way people assumed he would, but he could have been the first Jokic, before even Jokic existed, he "looked" like he could, he had the potential, so it wasn't a horrible decision at the time, only in retrospective we can say it's a bad one. Also let's remember that, on his rookie season, Milicic won the title. Sure it wasn't thanks to him, but it shows that Pistons were already good.

And it's more on his mentality that really cause his downturn in the league. And I do agree, he created this issue on himself with the Sixers. But if there are teams that really still saw his potential to be coming off the bench and provided some scoring or ball distribution then there will be teams willing to get him. But as far as getting back to his former self? I doubt it, unless he really was able to forget everything and started from scratch and play that hard again and gain his self confidence back.

It's anyone guess as to why teams are willing to pay someone like Simmons. He is mentally broken already and as what we have seen him in Nets, he was a non factor and even didn't play for a long time but still the Nets paid him millions. I think he should just retired or play on lower league that will help him boost his mental strength when he once gain self confidence.
He could be better on himself that teams are still going to hire him. And if so, it's going to be a free ride for Ben and will go and milk everyone. And I do think that there will be teams overseas like in Europe that is going to get him for millions.

It’s just ironic for him to still want to signed deal while he doesn’t want to play proper when given a chance to prove himself. I believe his goal is more on getting as much possible $ while still some team wants him to give a contract. He now has 1M salary on LA Clippers that known for acquiring old players with good records before. I think they might give Ben a ball time as bench. Wasting this opportunity to improve his performance will surely make almost no team will give him a contract.

"Staying healthy" is the keyword for Dallas. Can you really see all these injury prone players to be able to stay healthy during playoffs? I mean they do not need to stay healthy all season long, they can be inured, as long as they are in playoffs, the important thing is to be all healthy at that moment.
You think that looks possible? AD? The guy who is made out of glass and constantly injured? Literally injured on the first five minutes of being a Maverick? Kyrie? Who has missed more games than his tweets? I am telling you, Dallas as 100% healthy is a dangerous team that can win the whole thing for sure, but they are 100% guaranteed to be not fully healthy come playoff time, that is why nobody ever sees them as candidates, no chance they could be fully ready by then.

Dylan Harper's face reaction after looking at his contract was amazing and shocking. He's going to earn approximately $56M on his four-year rookie career with the Spurs. That's more than the amount of contract and money his dad earned with his entire NBA career which was just around $35M. Dylan is more lovable than his brother I guess, the Jr.

I am telling you, Dallas as 100% healthy is a dangerous team that can win the whole thing for sure, but they are 100% guaranteed to be not fully healthy come playoff time, that is why nobody ever sees them as candidates, no chance they could be fully ready by then.
I don’t think AD and Kyrie can both stay healthy the whole season, but I think it is possible for them to be healthy to start the playoffs and make some noise. They have both been healthy for a season before so we’ll see. Maybe they have gotten wiser with old age or maybe they’ve worked out all the bugs now. I’m just happy to see them play together.

Why Ben Simmons to the Boston Celtics is not as wild as it sounds to some I read an article the other day, Ben Simmons has earned almost $1.5 million per game after his Sixers days. Signing someone who has missed most of his career due to injuries is no different from gambling. Moreover, if the plan is to play him until other players fully recovered, just imagine what will happen when he gets injured again. I find it unreasonable for the Celtics to take this risk. I heard Kings or Knicks are closer to sign him anyway.

This guy should just quit. Obviously his mind is not right, I think he doesn't love basketball and the physical as well as psychological issues this guy has prevents him to be a valuable asset anywhere. I mean we know it, he knows it and the rest of the NBA should also know it. This career is over and nobody in their right mind should waste a roster spot or money on him, seriously!

I would waste a spot on him if the price was right, like 50k a game or something. No way would I pay big money for a washed up star who is as bad off as this guy. It would be a I can't find anything I want on the open market deal and I need a body so here's a mercy contract type deal.

If i were the Clippers, I would buy him out of the team, and find someone with a 10 day contract, then extend it if he's performing fine, Simmons psychological issue and the back injury, will not make him better again, back injury and a nerve issue, no one can perform long, since nerve issue can occur anytime, for sure they just want to fill the spot but for me, there are lots of other player better than Ben.

I saw that video as well. I guess other high end rookies ill react that why, you can see it in their face when their names are called and their families crying because it's going to be a big $$$ for their boy. But we know that Dylan's mom is going to guide his son on how not to squander that big money. His mom is a Filipino so for sure he will be stringy. Maybe there will be a time that his brother might go to the NBA as well? Everyone is making their bold move, except for the Warriors, and the news that might come from them is Kuminga being traded or signing with them. But it seems that there are no news at all and some analyst says that Houston is the biggest winner, having KD and DFS. But Warriors? So let's see about this drama, I don't know if Kuminga deserves a good pay or teams are willing to gamble with him with at least $30 million a year.

^^ I don't know if Kuminga is worth that kind of money. Even Josh Giddey of the Bulls hasn't had any contract yet as far as what I read from the Bulls as they also doesn't want to offer him big money. And I think it boils down to their manager as well, on how to negotiate and represent their players. And speaking of manager, it is said the Rich Paul's company got 30% of most of the rookies this season. So it speaks volume about this man and how he can really bring good money for his clients that's why he is in top of the game. I forget one player he handled, his advise is to go and still play with his team and take the offer. Because if he didn't and would like to test the free agency today, then he might not get a good money or worst, no one will take him.

I think it will be enough for the Mavs if Davis and Irving play in at least half of the regular season games, and as you said, are healthy for the playoffs. In fact, the rest of the Mavs players need to perform well enough for their team to at least make the play-in tournament.

Just when you think LaMelo Ball can’t get a stranger, the guy goes out and tattoos his toes to be like hot Cheetos… I thought it was a Centel post at first but it appears dude really side tattoo his toes red with flames coming off of them. He’s not going to have any naked skin left at the rate he’s drawing all over his body.
