Seems like there is a big difference in "Monday morning" units vs. "Friday afternoon" units.  Undecided

BTCitcointalk 1%ers manipulate the currency and deceive its user community.

yup, the straight usb seems to be alot easier..
The "plug & play" attempt was a total fail for me
I had an epic battle
it may have worked had the pool workername been correctly transferred, but as they say, hindsight is always 20/20.. I'm still happy with my saturns.

It was particularly bad for me because my school's network only supports Cisco NAC compatible operating systems. Obviously this thing wouldn't take that so I had to bridge a laptop to wifi with it. Which is super unstable and hacky. Im afraid to touch the setup in fear of resetting something by mistake and being stuck with a miner that can't connect again because.

I'm not one for donations but if you must go ahead and I will keep you in mind. =)

Almost no difference, in 2 and half day you wont mine much, so no big change in ROI if you keep your miner mining long

you are way off base here.. it's a quality of machine during manufacturing thing...but since you mentioned it..
I'd still rather have it sooner, than later... Smiley

but to add to Hemptsock's comment...
or a 3am saturday unit... with 30 folks staring down your back, and deadlines...lol

Okay, up and running with a couple of good sized tantalum caps on the module 12v rail.  Will catch up on posts while it settles out on 0.94 then see if 0.95 is any better.  Opps, forgot to enablecores as a few were down on 1 die.

uuuh, copy & paste worked great for me....?

just kidding...
copy the message they give you..
open your wallet
click on recieve tab
highlight your wallet
at bottom choose sign message
paste message into big box
click sign message
copy the signature over to the signature field in eligius
do not hit save for at least 1/2 hour, as the blockchain will need to send out the signature...
it will tell you if signature failed or succeeded then

Now running 0.94, that's .91-.94volts on the core, all cores 100% but I suspect I'll see cores dropping on die 3 as it's drawing 50.6amps while the others are drawing under 50amps.

But the real test isn't if die 3 drops 1-3 cores or not, it's if the cores will stay almost as good on 0.95 with .7volts on the cores.  Big difference, 270watts at the wall versus what was it 148?

Okay, I'm already up to 129GH/s.  0.95 could never get pass 100GH/s so time to give it a test.

----------------

Okay, no good.  Lots of cores being disabled.  No way.

Ah, too bad.  My last two tantalum caps and it took nerves of steel to put stands of silver solder to the board.

I have some noob and semi offtopic questions: 1) how do i check a transaction by the txid?; 2) how do i send a transaction with a message in it?
uuuh, copy & paste worked great for me....?

just kidding...
copy the message they give you..
open your wallet
click on recieve tab
highlight your wallet
at bottom choose sign message
paste message into big box
click sign message
copy the signature over to the signature field in eligius
do not hit save for at least 1/2 hour, as the blockchain will need to send out the signature...
it will tell you if signature failed or succeeded then

I already knew how to sign messages. I'm interested in sending a message visible in blockchain.
you are signing the wallet with a message.."signature"...do it same way
problem is..it's encrypted... so dunno

https://blockchain.info/address/1487ThaKjezGA6SiE8fvGcxbgJJu6XWtZp scroll way to the bottom and you will see some messages like: "Public Note: Thank you for the work you do for the community! Get a drink (or two) on me"

Found the way to search for a transaction by txid thx to blockchain.

Okay, up and running with a couple of good sized tantalum caps on the module 12v rail.  Will catch up on posts while it settles out on 0.94 then see if 0.95 is any better.  Opps, forgot to enablecores as a few were down on 1 die.

Went back to 0.94, enabledcores, all 100%, back to 270watts at the wall but I'll get full or almost full hashrate.

or a 3am saturday unit... with 30 folks staring down your back, and deadlines...lol

Exactly. They've accomplished great things and then made enough mistakes to almost negate them altogether lol. This is a crazy time-sensitive "industry" and although it is very entertaining I empathize with those heavily invested.

Glad you got your Saturns up to mostly-par, Phoenix! I have a sneaking suspicion a LOT of members have read through your posts from the last week to save themselves time on the troubleshooting side of things. Along with Orama, methinks you're entitled to some BTC compensation from KNC when this is all over. Not for late delivery or shitty service, but for taking some of the support load off their backs, even if inadvertently.

BTCitcointalk 1%ers manipulate the currency and deceive its user community.

I JUST GOT 48 F'ing cores online/a dead die is ALIVE, first try with enablecores.bin on firmware .94!

I'm glad.

Quote
Was getting a 486ghs(avg) in CG now getting after a few min 516ghs(avg) WOAH!! All I did was stop CGminer by pressing q inside it, then I applied the enablecores.bin and rebooted. I'm an 8 VRM Jupiter guys DO THIS, stop waiting.

so let check if I understand this correctly.

1) u where running on 0.94 @ 486GH/s
2) you have a die on one of your ASIC slot with all 48cores disabled.
3) you stopped cgminer
4) apply enablecore.bin from web interface
5) click on the reboot link in the web interface.
6) after that you're mining @ 516GH/s

is it right ?

HAHA yes I know it's wild! To be more specific my 5 second before was 505+- 10ghs with a usually solid 486 CG average. After the enablecore.bin procedure you reiterated above I'm getting 5 second going from 510 to 550ghs and a solid  514 avg as i type no issues to report at the moment. I'm going to let this run for a while and update later. Hopefully .94 doesn't play the slow down game with me anymore as it use to after 4-6 hours of hashing. If it does I'll just fix it with a halt and a 2 min cool down every 6 hours which puts me back on a plane for hours.

Becoming less hostile to KNC by the share lol

Tongue

thanks again for sharing! I'm in your precise situation. to add some other info: I wasn't able to run my miners with .92 nor .93 due to very frequent cgminer restart so I sticked with 0.91 for quite a while. I've briefly use .94 and switch to .95 as soon as it was published.

One last question: On the "once" flaky die how many cores enabled do you have now ?

The die that came back was Die "1" on my slot 4, below is a current bertmod output of it. I have 12 other cores out across the other chips for 13 total now and usually they almost all turn on after 2 hours. I still have this damn power down slide after 6 hours but it slides only to 500 ghs in the five second instead of 440ghs or less as it use to before enablecores.bin usage.

(5s):541.7G (avg):519.5Gh/s NOW!

There's perhaps another aspect of the 8 VRMs vs 4VRMs.  When I removed my module although there are standoffs for 6 screws, 4 board to standoff and 2 heatsink clamp to standoff, only 2 of the 4 board to standoff screws were in place.  My fan like most had been knocked free in transit.

I wonder if the 8VRM boards, earlier construction, might have all 4 of the board to standoff screws and could that have meant less flexibility of the module pcb and fewer damaged BGA points.
