Crap,  everyone is reporting their chips running in the 45 degree range.  I have one at 48, two at 55 and one at 64.  I'm hashing at a pretty stable rate of around 540-550.  Should I be concerned about the temps?

Ultimately I'm feeling fine too.  Hash rate is great.  Heck, I remember gpu mining and having 12 of them pegged at 80 for months.

I'm not sure why you need to remove this file - I would think it would just overwrite it, but if you really want to remove it:

SSH into the machine, then:

# cd /config
# rm asic_test

The '#' is the command line prompt - don't type that.

little tired of proving everything for people...  simple to do a test right?

either upgrade and reboot twice with ,96 and see if it does that 1-2 min runthrough and reboots itself or add extra char or two in the file and see if it overwrites

i believe there is logic somewhere that checks to see if the file is there and then skips the self test..  but i've been messing with bfgminer the past few days so i don't really remember exactly

i usually rename the asic_test files to asic_testXX so I keep record of any changes

Is there a way to identify which physical board is being identified by the bertmod output?  It says there is a board 0,2,3,4 with boards 2 and 3 being much warmer than the other two. I would assume that those would be the rear boards, correct?

I agree... It just doesn't make any sense... I think it's the VRM's getting cooled by playing with the cardboard, etc...  as mentioned earlier..

No, in fact my arrangement probably warms the VRMs a little as I've now got a kind of wind tunnel to the ASIC module and that first passes over the BBB - note the small 120vac 3 watt at the wall fan pushing in from the far left and the two front fans.  So, the ½ fan width cardboard down over the BBB might be better buy I ain't fooling with mine.  ...trying to get on the dreadmill..

Stepped off the dreadmill and the internet goes down.  Happened yesterday just as I got back from a jog.  The local highway is being widened from 2 lane to divided highway.  Fiber is run along the road.  Cable was down 2 hours at least.  Bummer.

Just as a little test... I gently just pressed on the vrm's on the slo sat, and rocked them side to side a tad with the tip of my finger. One of the vrm's gave a little "Click".
within 30 seconds, a couple cores were re-enabled in cgminer... and it has gained about 20 WU's in about 5 minutes, and 2-3 gh/s   Will keep updated...

few mins later...  couple more WU. 1 more gh/s

While my internet was down I shut down the miners and put a bit of cardboard between the VRMs and the ASIC cooler.  I looked closely and the metal tops are epoxy'd in place with thin lines of epoxy.  The snap could be one of those epoxy lines breaking.  I'd like to take the tops off and see if an expensive thermal tape would help any, then re-epoxy.

.90, knc if you are listening had great numbers for me, but not sure what why it crashed....

If they were to answer I'd guess they guess it's your power supply can't handle it.

This seems to be very odd.  I am guessing that pressing a VRM wouldnt fix an issue with 1 -4 cores being out.  Has anyone else done this?  I have 4 cores that seem to be consistently off.

I'm running 0.96 and I've can't get much above 500. According to eligius I am really only getting 465 or so (don't know why the big discrepancy).

Any suggestions on how to improve my hash rate? Should I try different firmware?

At least you guys are hitting 500.  My bad Jupiter on 0.97 doesn't break 475GH with 20%HW errors and anywhere from 24-48 cores disabled.

EDIT: temps are not that bad either with the warmest being 52deg.

Well, the pool is reading ~465, so I'm going off that number.

there's good modules and bad modules

I put my one really good module from my troubled miner and swapped it into my good miner that had the odd 8 VRM board in it.  Swapped it with the 8 VRM board

now seeing solid +580 at the pool with four very good modules running .96 w/cgminer

my troubled miner has a hodgepodge of issues..  so I am running the gambit on which firmware to use with bfgminer for best case scenario

re-read my posts..  i talked about lowering the fans to the crossbars for the asic chips/boards to lower temps 5-7C..  i never spoke of what you said but why should you go back and read anything right?

soy, doubt it, its a cool master 1200 watts...should handle multiple saturns...what I think happens is the output current showed at over 50A for all chips cores....maybe it was too much juice there, need a firmware like .90 but that takes output current to like maybe 45A....

I was quoted above your post about what I did in another thread...I assume everyone knows about my fan mod on the crossbars so that was the part I was referring to on 'didn't post it for three days'  and the reason for THAT PARTICULAR ITEM was because of tools like you ok??

now go complain to someone else about heat and the BBB ok?
