Wow, way off topic...

That describes the last few pages of this thread.

You know there is a whole Mining Speculation subforum, right?

Not sure, but when I was reflashing things, sometimes I had to do it two or three times to get the "Magic reboot"
I'd suggest learning "Tuning Suite" though. The Beta is a voltage workaround, so you should be able to produce the same or better with the suite I'd think; but since I have no miners here atm... I never got the chance to play with the suite...  Sad

igorr, igorr... wait, wait, take a breath and listen read.

the harder it gets to mine bitcoin, and fewer bitcoins are mined the better it is for bitcoin.
This is how satoshi nakamoto designed it to work.  it gets rarer and more valuable, just like gold.

yes the gold rush is coming to an end (thank god) and then we just use bitcoin, and the more people that use it the better it is.

just get yourself a couple bitcoins, store them and come back to this forum in 20 - 30 years time..  I hope I'm still around, then we'll chat at how rich you are.

PS. don't forget to store them on a paper wallet and laminate it.  Safest way  Wink

It gets "rarer" with reward halvings, not with difficulty increases. Monetary supply/inflation is not directly linked to Hashrate.

Not likely. You just reiterating what was said a year and a half ago during the transition from CPU to GPU.
Bitcoin mining is a self-balancing process.

By the way, does your surname start with "Raf-" and end with "-ko"? Just know of one very tech-savvy igorr. If you are him, then nicely played. Grin

for those of you that have these, how noisy are they? and how much heat do the put out? my room while i am deployed is only 10x10, lol and the air conditionir is all ready loud enough

My 5 are in my basement, they aren't hot to touch, but if you leave the basement doors open and a little fan on they soon warm the downstairs of my house.

2 of my chips run at 70-75 degrees though, so that might be something to do with it.

In other news, on successful delivery of my replacement board, they'd also chucked in a few goodies for me. Love these guys! I'm so glad I bet on the right horse.

I'm in for 3 Neptunes. If they doesn't send me with them a fuc..in T-shirt, I'll send back all to them.... Smiley

Why are people mentioning making wafers and stuff regarding the Jupiter sales? They said they would ship from stock.

ANd they may, but you cant ship from stock without first producing the machines and chips. Chip production simply takes a long time, so the question is: do KnCalready have a stockpile of unused chips (or wafers) or did they already place the order with the fab? If the question is no to both, then it seems unlikely these machines will be in stock before mid February. If they do have a stock, that seems pretty wasteful. If they have placed the order some weeks ago, then the decision,  which some claim hadnt been taken yet, has already been taken and its only a question of when they will ship those in miners.

How long do you think it takes?

It takes around ~8 weeks for chips to be produced from the wafers. The first "Tape-Out" is the longest because they also have to make the masks but that is done now so it's relatively quick if they can find a quick place in line at the fab.

TSMC has stated they have ample room for more 28nm orders (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/tsmc-seen-28nm-utilization-drop-114049008.html)
I can't seem to find that exact article now but they are begging for more 28nm orders.

I think this is a pretty good indication of when shit is going to happen:

Quote
Being out of stock is tough on us all. Customers want to buy more, we want to supply more and every day the 'out of stock' situation continues it frustrates all involved.

We have not been sitting still however. For the past few weeks we have been working on plans to develop hosted hashing into a truly interactive enterprise. All our future plans revolve around having access to extremely large amount of hashing power so that many more people can get involved and try hosted hashing for themselves.

Until we can offer a steady, continuous supply of hashing power our shop will have to remain closed.

We are working with hardware partners to bring to market a large hashing facility that we expect to be online during the month of JANUARY 2014.

You all seem bored, so I'll let you find the source of that news for yourselves Wink

Do you not think they called the foundry to place a whopping order as soon as they knew their chips were working? That was 10 weeks ago.

Maybe you thought that order was the November Batch. I believe the November batch was in their initial wafer order.

Noise wont be an issue they are not that loud you wouldn't hear it over your air conditioner you could always swap the fans our for some noctua ones if needed. Heat may be an issue depending on where you live or how good your air conditioning is my portable air con cant keep up since I added my nov jup to my oct one but thats on a hot day on a cold day they warm the rooms quite well. But I'll be watercooling at least one in the new year just to drop the heat output a little so that is always an option in a hot climate.

my Jupiter is a lot less noisy then my window a/c unit from the summer in my bedroom

also I have 2 6" menard fans with the case off blowing sideways they are louder then the unit by far

currently in my Minnesota basement (hey it likes it cold)
