Got some bad news guys.  I was reorganizing one of my Titans which has been running non stop for about 5 days when I noticed that the PCI-e socket on one of the cubes is already starting to burn:

I am using dual Seasonic 1250W PSUs for each Titan which have pretty high quality cables.  I didn't start seeing any signs of burned sockets on my Neptunes until around the 2 month mark so I am getting concerned about these Titans.

Cheap components, and a bad design is def a fail

Let's face facts...

The single power connector on the Titans and Neptune is just a big "fuck you" to customers. They are fully aware that the designs needed a minimum of two connectors to function safely and reliably. And adding a second connector would have cost pennies.

They purposely designed them to operate poorly to punish us just like they didn't bother to attach heat sinks on the FrankenJups knowing full well that they wouldn't survive shipping. No one is that incompetent!

It's all in the KNC business plan. Every miner they ship reduces the income from their farm. Every miner that breaks down increases the income from their farm.

Were the terminals used on the power cables 45750 Mini-fit plus HCS?

High quality stock cables on psu's are mostly not... high quality

Used y-splitters like knc recommended? No?

Please post more facts so this can be avoided by others

I just used everything that came stock with the PSU.  No Y-splitter cables.  I used these same Seasonic 1250W PSUs on my Neptunes for over a month without any problems.  Anyways I am going to head to bed.  Will answer any more questions you guys may have in the morning.

About 7 hours after they put it online. How about you guys?

the date of Titans starting to sell was march 19th? right? (clarification please!)

got my unit on march 27th (still paid) a like #2101x or some such

So MAYBE it will work better by the time I get one (In Two Weeks TM BFL)

Then again these are the last of the consumer products they could be just shooting this stuff out the door as fast as possible
just to get them done so they can ship 3rd batch neptunes or bonus neptunes.....and let the Titan folk lump it for now with a
broken (no refund) purchase

anyway KNC will never get another order from me....talk about absolutely RUNNING to BFL's point of view in the last year!

i had same thing - burned.

fuck KNC. they really failed this time.

by the by the Y cables they do help reduce the change of burning out the plugs right?

also I'm guessing (don't laugh its a guess) that it better to burn out the y cable lead and/or the psu lead on the Y cable then the Titan cube plug itself
and also for other issues and such

got some y cables from www.sharkmod.com (16awg) for use on TWO corsair 1200i units also got a triplite euro surge protector from amazon just in case
if it gets hot enough to get toasty it should get hot enough to shut the puppy off (still have issues with idea that 1100 watt machine the Titan needs 2 power
supplies)

here is the 220v triplite unit I'm getting it comes with the proper end and other plug (euro) to work with the psu etc

http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-EURO-4-International-Protector/dp/B00006HZ4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412233036&sr=8-1&keywords=tripp+lite+euro

anyway....all I can do ahead of time.....psu's supposedly that will work (check) surge protection ect (check) if the plugs are gonna burn I'm hopeful this would
trip off ....better then an RMA

no it is up to KNC to give us more then a brick

but then on the other hand you could say that they really really did give us a 'realistic' Titan..it from the planet point of view...

1) It occupies space in the universe ..ie has mass

2) and spins in one place (figurative speaking) going no where in a linear manner in relation to earth round and round ..movement but distant/aloof

3) it too someday... as mass will experience the entropy and heat death of the universe...and grind to a stop (the planet)
Titan the miner seems to have already gone to this step ..more efficient saving billions and billions of years of time... (efficient TM KNC)

so it goes round and round

Where can I order those Y-splitters?

http://www.shakmods.com/shop&#!/16-Gauge-16-Awg-Sleeved-PSU-Cables-%28-Titan-Neptune-mining-cables-Pci-e-GPU-%29/p/38146207/category=3316061

(i got 4 of these and again you have to make them specific to your power supply so tell them your brand/model/type)

I got the real long leads from the power supply to 2 ends 16awg and again he asks for power supply info...I'd get at least a 1200 w or bigger (2 of them)

they got here in 2 days from the UK (midwest usa)

anyway what I have as a 'just in case' before the titan arrives this stuff

so for my corsair 1200i I needed 4 of these cables (they would then Y split to 8 ends for 2 power supplies in my case both corsair 2100i psu's)

the triplite euro surge protector 220v I'd also get ...been running one on my jupiter works flawlessly ....hopefully would trip if things got too toasty on the miner.

http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-EURO-4-International-Protector/dp/B00006HZ4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412233036&sr=8-1&keywords=tripp+lite+euro

anyway my stuff I can do before the NO ROI Titan doorstop/heater arrives at my door

by the by first day Titan's on ebay ..when looking at the sold area..per-orders are selling for 4.5k free shipping ....Titans unopened in hand for 6.6k..my problem
with selling these if they don't work and come back ...they simply would charge back on paypal  (legitimately) if the unit you got was ..a dud...which seems common

I'd make prob 2x as much bitcoin selling them at the above prices (new in hand) then I'd ever mine in bitcoin from a multi-pool thats for sure..but if they are this
kludged to get up now I'd bet 3 out of 4x you'd simply get the unit back and a paypal charge back

anyway seems the fact they are junk is out ..if they are only going for 6.5k new in box 1st batch orders

wow great job buying this crap you guys thought were hot stuff great job buy more of this crap

win a few lose a few...got the knc jupiter last year 51 coin.....got a titan lost some cash

BTC has to go below 150 usd before I'm in any trouble

(and I got a BFL refund so  a person can only have so many miracles with BTC!)

those are the risk/benifits

buy yeah now I spend my time (will get what I can out of the Titan) on www.coinbase.com

but then again...KNC was a good company when I got the first product from them...full refunds....good RMA service
paypal with credit cards......product on time and made well

but I guess the temptation to go BFL was too much...making the chips and mining themselves with the arctic cloud
hosting being funded by class A and class B really rich investors and also the fact the company has NO DEBT or at
least did not...all this was built on last years miners (mercury/saturn/jupiter) and the modules they took that should
have been an upgrade path for the customers but kept for their data halls instead

so they have made approx $200 million in profit so far as my best guess BEFORE the arctic cloud and the other stuff
kicks in..they likely will be worth 1 billion dollars within 5 years ...chips to farm to massive farming

power corrupts/money corrupts...but my at the time of my pre-order for the Titan ..no sign of this no frankenjupiter
problems ..still offered refunds (or at least the stats page showed such when I ordered) warrenty also then was 1 year

3 weeks later after my order KNC went from nun to porn star in morals

so you can only do what you can do with the info you have when you do it

they left us holding the bag.....not much you can do about plain ass betrayal (look at BFL)

so live an learn

besides when I got into this coin was cheap and it was just supposed to be a 'hobby' for fun

I'd would have probably bought a bass boat with the $$$ anyway..and it woulda probably sunk.....so it goes

Stock PSU cables aren't not, let me repeat, ARE NOT pretty high-end cables. They don't even start to come close. You need to buy 16AWG cables from this guy. http://www.shakmods.com/shop&&#!/~/product/category=3316088&id=37642162

Those are "HIGH-END" cables. The fact that the cables started to melt at the cube end suggests they were plugged in correctly or they simply are cheap quality cables.

unless they get the Titan's out the door I don't think much is gonna happen and the fact the Titan's don't
seem to work (even thou KNC says little problems and great success) I'd not be to hopeful in that they
have imho limited employees a 5 day work week behind..and probably again imho have to clear out the
Titan's first

ie bottleneck

if the raspberry Pi is not up to running the Titan and/with firmware issues this could take a month or more imho

fun fun

Good point! But has anyone seen close up photos of the Neptunes in their datacenters? I wouldn't be surprised if they had two connectors, lol.

KNC released a photo of the prototype Neptune board (on their forum) months before they shipped the first units. I commented on the single connector and thought it was ridiculous not to have two. And I have absolutely zero experience in that area, yet even I knew better. Surely they should have foreseen problems with the design and had it corrected before they started shipping. To me, it seems like there is no other excuse than maliciousness.
