Hey guys

Having trouble with ASIC Block Erupter 336 Mh/s. I bought off Ebay for a few dollars so it might not be me but I just wanted to check with you guys before returning to the guy. I'm having trouble getting my computer to recognize the device. I have downloaded the drivers from http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx and installed them. When i got to my devices under unspecified i have  cp2102 us to uart bridge controller. I then open up my BFG miner enter all my pool information and worker information, but i have no devices that are being recognized and am unable to add any devices. Any input would be appreciated.

What configuration options are you using with BFGminer? it doesn't recognise devices 'out of the box', you need to tell it to look for specific devices, with the -S flag, for example -S icarus:all
You can also get BFGminer to detect devices if you press 'M', then '+' to add new devices.
If you can see the bridge controller in device manager, then it is probably working okay - the device it is showing is the USB controller for the ASIC chip on the stick.
Just one final note - at current difficulty, one of these will reach the minimum payout in over four months, and that isn't taking into consideration the periodic difficulty increases (the last one was over 20% IIRC). Once you get this one working, you may want to consider adding several more if you ever want to see the minimum payout, and don't expect to make a profit, unless you can get them for pennies!

First thing to check is do you have a Powered hub? ....not all PC's have enough power at the USB socket.

Second point, USB2 sockets on your PC are better than USB3 for Erupters.

Try this line for your .bat file:-   bfgminer.exe -o http://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -O worker:pasword -S erupter:all

Try the app on Bitminter... if it doesn't pick it up, it's probably the miner. Bitminter's app has always picked up USB devices for me.

I think I finally figured it out. My hashrates mean nothing. The total pool hashrate means nothing.
The less often that I check my stats on Slush's website, the more blocks get found and the shorter the rounds. When I log in to check the rounds a lot, the time to solve the blocks go up.

So, it's my fault when we have long blocks. Sorry about that!

Try the app on Bitminter... if it doesn't pick it up, it's probably the miner. Bitminter's app has always picked up USB devices for me.

I use MultiMiner for mining and have not had any issues with it discovering my Antminer U1's, nor my Cube run via proxy. Currently I have 2 altcoin rigs (plus a build in the works) and my single Cube, all running MultiMiner and Windows 7 or 8. Occasionally the Multiminer app will crash/hang/freeze but it is highly supported and the author is constantly working on new revisions, currently on v2.7.6 though I run my 5800 series altcoin miner with v2.6.2 and an older catalyst for best hash rates.

Then there is MobileMiner which is an app for your phone (and now there's a browser page too) for monitoring your miners. Just gotta enter ther app API into your miner settings and you are able to monitor, start, stop, restart your miners from anywhere. The only time this does not work is when the miner app crashes etc or you machine is down.

It is calculated for the last 24h of rounds and round 21796 which was a ~11h just moved out of the calculations

I'm glad to see that my 800TH theory has been dispelled and I'm sure the investment in a bigger wheel for the mice will pay off..

I ran some numbers and it's a good spread still; sell ebay for cash, exchange revenues for BTC, acquire equal hashing power on group buys and keep a profit, or buy up a significant upgrade and break even with higher future revenue- I'll be buying up more power I think, and maybe keeping a small profit. Even on low-end price forecast I'll be able to dump blades and cubes at competitive prices and buy up more hashing speed with a few Antminers on group buys, and will have rather nice profit, an option to upgrade, and definitely less heat and more space in my apartment.

The thing is, it took a while to buy up the blades and cubes, and the fact people can jump in small to try out mining with these makes them still very marketable to new miners. Most first-time miners can't (or don't want to) dive in head-first and buy an Antminer for over $1k. It's funny how experience increases comfort level when things are going well, and buying gear with mining revenues helped with that. When I bought my first 7gh/s miner back in November I got a good deal at $260usd, most were selling for $400, but to me that seemed like way too much money for this "weird idea"... Most "normal" people still don't understand Bitcoin, there's still a lot of un-acted upon curiosity...

Everybody's gotta start somewhere, and the old gear through Ebay is a great place for that because buyers can start "small" $120-200 for a blade and build it out later, filling up a backplane at their own pace. Even though they aren't as efficient like the newest stuff, I still appreciate the design of the ASICminer equipment because they allow people to grow into mining, either by using a backplane and blades or locking the cubes together- both are affordable in relative terms. I was much more comfortable starting out with a bunch of small purchases over time, essentially it's the same concept as dollar-cost-averaging into a more traditional investment. Not like anyone here was looking for a marketing strategy, but I do think the best way to position the older gear is with a focus on the low cost and expansion potential.
